This review contains multiple reviews, the first day we ate here we had the large Grilled Chicken Salad, this salad is huge and was really good. The waitress we had was great and attentive. Now the guy behind the register is another story, he was rude to the staff in front of everyone always raising his voice to them. The second and third day the guy that was rude the previous day was not there, the atmosphere in the restaurant was more relaxed. We had Diane as a waitress and she was spot on, she was friendly, attentive and had a great personality. We had breakfast the last two times we ate here, they were quick and delicious. So ask for Diane and tell her you want a deep fried skunks a**, she'll get a kick out of that. read more

Great hamburger, one of the best I've ever had, full half pound with pickles,tomatoes and sweet onions piled sky high. Friendly service and plenty of tempting menu selections. Spotting the other dishes around the restaurant looked pretty wonderful, open faced turkey and beef with loads of mashed potatoes, comfort food to the max. Prices were great and the daily specials are an especially fantastic deal. Only one complaint, the fries tasted has if they had been hanging around a warmer oven a bit to long, they'd lost their crunch. Oh, one other thing first time I've ever had French's Tomato Ketchup, has an odd taste if you've been raised on Heinz. My wife and I are African American and went to this restaurant on the fly after traveling on the road, the all white staff treated us with so much respect and great customer service. I would highly recommend this place in the future. We even bought a gift card to come back. The manager as what I did as a career and I told him that I was a Chicago police officer and he comped my meal at a discount. I love this fine dining restaurant with awesome food. read more

The service is always friendly, the food is great for what you pay for it and it really does feel like a hometown restraunt. We ran across this restaurant during a long road trip & loved it so much we are planning to stop again on our way back through town. The food was fantastic and the service even better. They even allowed us to bring our small dog in since it was so cold out & we didn't want to leave her in the car. To top it off the owner made our dog a special meatball on the house! When we got to the restaurant it was packed which is a good sign. The menu is expansive with many options. All day breakfast, wraps, salads, burgers etc. We are from out of town and had a great experience here. It was kid friendly and had a family atmosphere. The food was great. I had the Greek scramble and the hash browns were nice and crispy and my eggs were cooked perfectly it was a great combination of flavors and a large portion. My Mother in Law is a regular and loved her salad. The owner is very friendly and all the wait staff was very attentive. We will be back on our next trip to Michigan. read more

Want great food look no further! They have a great menu. Owners are so personable and funny. The waitress we had, had a beautiful smile, was attentive and we'll informed with the menu. We order the sampler appetizer. Huge onion rings, fries, chicken strips, battered mushrooms, jalapeno poppers, and cheese sticks. I personally order the 21 shrimp platter, came with fries and vegetable and a salad. So much food I had to get a box. We were passing through and looking for a restaurant with a variety of meal options. This place fit the bill. It is a typical small town cafe. They have breakfast all day and many options for lunch and dinner. I had the Combo Biscuit Which was biscuits and gravy (two large biscuits) and shredded potato hashbrowns (like they should be - not those sorry excuse cubed potatoes). The flavors were excellent and the quantity is humongous- there is a reason they offer a half order - I should have gotten the half order. My wife had the tuna salad sandwich and fries. She wasn't overly impressed with the sandwich - it was fine, just not anything special, but the home sliced French fries were outstanding. We will definitely go back the next time we are in the area. read more

Local diner that offers a welcome break from all the turnpike plaza McDonald's. It's a very mom & pop kind of diner just south of the turnpike. If your stomach has started to turn itself inside out but you're still fighting the dark side that is fast food plazas and rest stops, then this is a great place to order some decent chow. Having traveled to many states from California to D.C., I will admit that there are better diners out there with tastier food but this place has a real nice local allure and the staff is friendly so it makes your visit feel quite welcoming and the food isn't bad either. We ordered omelets, sausage links, corn beef hash (a bit dry), mac and cheese (wish it had more flavor but it wasn't greasy so that's a plus), and fresh squeezed juice (which tasted great). Not much more to say, keep your eyes open so you don't pass it up and don't be surprised how busy it can get. The worn-in, probably-looks-the-way-it-did-on-opening-day is appealing so I hope they never change the interior or exterior. A foodie should never judge a restaurant by how it looks. I stayed in Howe on my way to Michigan just for one night. I ordered the Agelo's pizza with thin crust and homemade sauce. That pizza was FANTASTIC! It was not too salty at all, which happened to lots pizza. The crust is thin but not too dry or too chewy. All the employees in this restaurant were super friendly and helpful when you had no idea what you want. Any of them knew any of their food! Another thumb up for their delivery service. This restaurant is a perfect example of "don't judge a book by its cover." This quaint, homely, local restaurant appears to be a low-quality diner from the outside, however we were pleasantly surprised. Situated in a small town a few minutes from the toll road, it is very convenient for a pit-stop meal. The food was better than expected from the outside and the chocolate cream pie was delicious! However the waitress was the best part of the experience. She was very attentive, friendly, and had a great sense of humor. She will make you feel happy that you had stopped to eat there. Rudest server ever!!! We went there today for lunch. It was very busy and all tables were full.We thought the food must be good and we're looking forward to eating here as we never had. We got our table and drinks and after 9-10 minutes without having our orders taken I asked the girl cleaning tables if we could get our order taken. We noticed several tables that had been waited on who arrived after us, and we were not being impatient. A few minutes later the server arrived. She said she had 6 tables to cover and she didn't need to deal with rude people and she didn't care who heard her. We weren't really sure she was talking about us and gave her our order. A couple minutes later she walked past openly talking about dealing with rude customers and looking at us as she went by. Now we realized she was talking about us. We did not say anything because we really did not want to make any more of an issue of it. Within 2 minutes she came to wait on the table behind us and as she finished she said to that table. "Thank you for not being rude like the table behind you" At this point my wife and were so offended we got up and confronted her and left. During the exchange she continued to say we were rude and didn't have to wait that long to be waited on. We didn't care that it took a while to get to us but her open hostility to us was disgusting. This is the place that no matter where I am in the country, when I say I'm from Howe, Indiana, people somehow know about this restaurant. The food is very complimentary of the area where most people have sit down, home cooked meals daily. Food is great, the staff feels like family and the owner is always happy to see you. They deliver too! If this place didn't exist, summers spent on one of the local lakes wouldn't be as pleasant and carefree. It's wonderful that Howe, as a community, is home to a restaurant that is loved by all that pass through. read more

For him eggs, smoked sausage, served with a pancake he said was in his top five for fluffiness & flavor. I chose the Greek scramble and it was not only a size-able portion but equally tasty. Staff are friendly, pleasant warm atmosphere, and good food. There's a large variety of food on the menu, and portions are big. The only complaint I have is the burger was plenty big but there wasn't enough cheese on it. The shrimp dinner my wife ordered was big and came with all the sides and a salad which was great. I've been stopping in at this place about once a month for the past four years on the way back and forth to Culver Academies from Cleveland. Until recently, I've always enjoyed burgers, soup, sandwiches or dinner specials here and have never been disappointed. Then a couple of months ago, owner Angelo told us about the pizza and brought out some sauce, cheese and pepperoni for us to sample, so next time I ordered one. This was one of the best pizzas ever! All of the components - crust, sauce, cheese and toppings - are super fresh and tasty. The sauce, cheese and toppings go all the way to the edge. I wish someone could make a pizza like that where I live. The service is always friendly and attentive. I get the impression that Angelo runs a tight ship and that the staff like and respect him. They do everything they can to make sure the customers are happy. The end result is a delicious, satisfying, hearty meal every time in a clean, pleasant setting. The prices are very reasonable. Everything on the extensive menu is a bargain. Great value for your money! Finally made it here for a night time meal. Ordered a pizza - Hawaiian, my favorite (don't judge lol). Came out quick and was hot and delicious. Would definitely order again. My hubby had the Village Salad - which is really more like a traditional greek salad in Greece. Lots of tomatoes and cucumbers with some kalamata olives and feta - no lettuce. Came with a side of fresh pita. He really liked it. We also got a subway sandwich to go - we have a long drive ahead of us. Where do I start? 1. Order wrong: I ordered a large pepperoni pizza and a small cheese pizza with ham and pineapple. After waiting quite some time, just one pizza came out. It was a large ham and pineapple. 2. Menu prices just don't add up: there is a long list of toppings including ham and pineapple. A small two topping pizza is $9.99. But if you order ham and pineapple, they charge you for a "Hawaiian," which is $10.56. Of course, because they made a large Hawaiian, they charged me full price for a large Hawaiian. I asked about the discrepancy and he said it was because they don't usually put pineapple on pizza (despite the fact that it is clearly on the ingredient list). 3. The pizza is not good at all: they use chunky ham with giant pockets of gristle that you can't chew. The cheese is just piled in the center and makes it soggy and all the ingredients fall off. The crust is dry and tastes like cardboard. 4. The restaurant is disgusting: I waited quite some time for the pizza so I got a chance to look around. The candy dish by the register was the first red flag. It was dirty and had the sugar crystals from sour patch kids at the bottom. The sour patch kids were gone but instead of cleaning the dish, they just added various wrapped and unwrapped candies together on the top. Just gross. The desserts all looked old and congealed and there were random drinks and other stuff in the case. Just a dirty restaurant. 5. Customer service is ingenuine and insincere: I ordered clearly and they simply got it wrong. There was no sincere apology, no offer to make it right. In fact they charged me more than they should have. I spent more time than I should have on this whole ordeal and now I still have hungry kids. Just sad. read more
