I can't help but smile when I think about Smile Maker Dental!!! As cheesy as it sounds, I am in love with my experience with Dr. Van and his staff. My teeth is a little on the yellow side mostly because of genetics (I'm serious). No matter how well I brush or what I eat, it's just kind of yellow, even though I've always known them to be healthy and whatnot. I signed up with a teeth whitening session with Dr. Van and he walked it through with me every step of the way. I was a little concerned with the sensitivity, but I had no problem after Dr. Van's care. I had an initial treatment with the bleaching machine that lasted for about 1 hour - really quick and easy. While I was there, I was watching my favorite movie, Fast & The Furious 6 - this guy has all the latest movies that just came out by the way. His facility is state of the art, each chair has it's own TV and they let you choose everything. I feel like coming here is just hanging out and getting work done - you don't feel like you're wasting time but more so relaxing. I've gone back about 3 times now and my teeth is just perfectly white. I feel more confident and am not afraid to smile in pictures. I'm definitely a lifetime customer for Dr. Van.. a lot of people lack patient care and the charisma of a true provider. Dr. Van exhibits all of that, he's even gotten a bunch of Riverside County Awards of the Year. UCLA Dent - I'm appreciative for his compassionate treatment of my teeth. All the staff I have had contact with are lovely. Very friendly, cheerful and helpful. Wait times are short, no waiting for an hour to be seen, always in within 10 minutes which indicates to me that they are well organized and don't over book themselves like doctors offices seem to do. Dr Van takes the time to show what needs to be done and what the procedure will be. I am one of those blessed people who in my 50 odd years of life have only ever had one tiny cavity so I was somewhat freaking out at having to have a root canal on one of my eye teeth. I needn't have worried, they numbed the area down so that I didn't even feel the anesthesia injection nor any pain while he was doing the work. He periodically kept me informed on how much longer it was going to take and if I needed them to stop for a second I just had to raise my had and they immediately stopped. They don't bully you into doing stuff they recommend you get done, if you're on a budget they will say which is most important to get done. As for the cost, I can't really tell, I imagine they are pretty much on par with most dentists. Would I recommend this dentist? Yes. Oh, and the place looks very clean and fresh. read more

Dr. Van is okay, but the girls at the front desk have no idea what they are doing. They made huge mistakes with charging us and billing our insurance. They were very rude to us all the time. They quoted us one price for something, then after we had the procedure it turns out we actually owed almost five hundred dollars, when they originally told us it was going to be much less. When I would wait in the waiting area they would always be having personal conversations with each other or friends of theirs in the lobby, very unprofessional. When one of us missed an appointment due to scheduling miscommunications on their part, we still had to pay a cancellation fee. I've never had to a pay a fee for a missed appointment anywhere else in my life. I do not trust this dentist or the assistants at this office. Do yourself and your wallet a favor and find ANY other dentist in the area. My family has since found a MUCH better dentist elsewhere. read more

I did not know what great dentistry was until I came here. I was looking for a new dentist in Riverside after moving to the city last May, and could not have been more happy. I had a neighbor refer me, and I'm so glad she did, because not only did I have my cavities taken care of, but I found a dentist that I truly even enjoy going. As a new patient, you will come in and do an evaluation. They will take x-rays and ask why you decided to come in. Dr. Van makes you feel 110% at home, and I was just so impressed with the clean and modern office. For my second visit, I had a cleaning and fillings done in about 1.5 hours. The cleaning was normal - but thorough. During the fillings, I was so comfortable, and also didn't realize how fast everything was happening. When we completed both fillings I was super surprised. Call me weird, but I might even be excited to go back to pick up the night guard and get a check up in a few weeks! read more

I've been with Dr. Van and his staff for about 5 years and every cleaning, check-up, wisdom tooth, or whatever dental needs I have - the quality of patient care and provider compassion have been truly phenomenal! Dr. Van is super, super knowledgeable and really breaks down what's going on and what you need to know. He prepared me a little recovery package with some healing instructions after my wisdom tooth removal and even sent me an email to check up on me. Dr. Van and his office are the type of people that care for EVERY single patient and makes sure a patient's visit to his office is the best experience and still the best experience when they leave! Dr. Van and his personnel are excellent. I have been coming to this place for over a year and every visit is a smooth process. What I like about this place is that Dr. Van takes the time to explain the procedure he will perform step-by-step. Also, he explains in details what would be the results of following the recommendations at the same time the consequences of not following them to take care of your teeth. I am very satisfied with the attention received here. One of my favorite people here is Rebecca, my hygienist. Every single time I have been here for my appointments, she is always friendly, professional and caring. She also takes the time to explain the procedures she will do for the day. Dr. Van has been my dentist and my wife's dentist for at least 15 years. Everything about him and his staff is outstanding. There is a calm and kindness in his office. You will be welcomed, taken care of with a focus on your comfort. He will tell you how it is. For me, I don't like to floss so I pay the price. The office uses technology to keep you informed. I love it. The are kind, affordable and everything you wish every other business were. They are taking Covid precautions seriously. I have an appointment tomorrow as does the wife. I've been coming to Smile Maker Dental for 6 years now. Dr. Van has patiently and gently worked with me to fix bad work I received over the years with other dental offices. Him and his entire staff from the front desk, to his dental hygienist have eased the anxiety I once had going in for dental work. They have taught me real dental hygiene and now I know how to properly take care of my teeth! im happy to say all major work is done and I'm able to come in just for regular cleanings. I am in my 60's and I have never liked going to the dentist but have gone to many. Dr. Van is the BEST dentist I have EVER been to and I plan on going to him as long as I can. I'm a coward and he's is soooooooooo gentle. Has never hurt me and I've had root canals and a tooth pulled. He is very caring and knowledgeable and takes the time you need to make sure you understand your options. The ladies in his office put you in a good mood when you walk into the office. Dr. Howard is the man! The guy is super relatable and the place is beautiful. I was really scared to come in to have my wisdom teeth pulled out, but he really made me feel at ease. His staff, Marisol and Olivia I believe, are really sweet and personable. Dr. Van is a Lakers fan and I really enjoyed us talking about sports while he prepped me for the extraction. It was painless and easy. I really came in with a lot of horror stories implanted in my head about wisdom teeth - but my experience has been only positive with Dr. Van. I am not a big fan of going to the dentist (who is) but not anymore!!! Dr. Van is awesome and very professional. Super considerate and very very patient oriented. I will not go anywhere else. Best dentist ever. I always get my teeth cleaned and whitened here. I think Dr Van is really hip and modern for a dentist. We always end up talking about either athletics or college basketball teams. My parents really dig the place since it is close to the mall and pretty nice on the inside. Last time I got my teeth whitened I just watched Fast & The Furious. It was definitely a good experience.
