I came here last year because of their amazing reviews but I wouldn't trust this office too much. They were charging me close to 2k for dental work I didn't even need! Biggest red flag was when the doctor said he couldn't see on the x-ray if I had a cavity underneath my crown so he wanted to take off my perfectly good crown and disinfect the tooth. He said after 5 years a crown should be getting redone which isn't true at all. They were charging me 1,322 just for this procedure. Next, they were trying to convince me to get my bottom wisdom teeth removed. They said because it was creating a space which was collecting too much bacteria. They never asked if my wisdom teeth were bothering me, which they don't, and they were not even impacted. Very convenient for them that they were referring me to their sister office (smile builder) for the evaluation and extraction. Another high price procedure in addition to the 2k. Finally, they told me I had two small cavities and already scheduled me to get the fillings. That was 135. I told a family member who works in a dental office about all these procedures and she told me that was not normal and to get a second opinion. I went to a different dental office and the only procedure they agreed I needed was a deep clean. The crown was not even infected, it was just gum swelling and tartar buildup on a different tooth. The cavities and all my other dental issues would improve just with a deep clean and regular maintenance. read more

I came to this office because they had great reviews, and I was new to the area. My first appointment went well. I was told I had a few cavities that needed to be treated, and one of the teeth was borderline, meaning there was a possibility I could eventually need a root canal. I understood that risk and decided to move forward with treatment. Unfortunately, that's when my experience started going downhill. For my first filling, I had to come back twice because it wasn't filled properly. Instead of feeling better, the tooth hurt even more after the treatment than it did beforehand. The worst experience was when I came in for my crown. After the crown was cemented into place, it shifted. The doctor then tried to reposition it without numbing my mouth. I'm not sure exactly what he was doing, but it genuinely felt like he was using a small hammer to tap the crown into place. It was extremely painful. The dental assistant could clearly see how much pain I was in and wanted to numb the area. As she was preparing the topical anesthetic before the injection, I heard the doctor say, "No topical, just give me the injection." After already enduring nearly an hour of pain, skipping the topical only made the injection more painful. Even after the injection, he still wasn't able to get the crown positioned correctly. I had to come back so the same doctor could adjust the crown placement. Unfortunately, even after that adjustment, I was still in constant pain. I couldn't bite down on that tooth, I woke up with pain every morning, and it honestly felt worse than it did before the treatment. I had already paid over $500 for the crown, so I felt like I had no choice but to keep coming back. At my next visit, I requested a different doctor because I still wasn't improving. The new dentist took my concerns seriously, completed a thorough evaluation, and explained that I now needed a root canal. I understand that this was a possibility from the beginning because the tooth was borderline, so I'm not blaming the office for that diagnosis. My frustration is with how painful the crown procedure was and the lack of empathy I felt while I was clearly in pain. I was referred to an endodontist for the root canal, and the experience there was night and day. The doctor was incredibly attentive, compassionate, and considerate throughout the entire procedure. I felt heard, cared for, and comfortable from start to finish. Ironically, the root canal was a far better experience than getting the crown. I do want to be clear that my experience with the office as a whole wasn't all negative. Every other staff member I interacted with--including the front desk, assistants, and the second dentist--was kind, considerate, and professional. The dental assistant who was with me during my crown appointments was especially compassionate. She recognized how much pain I was in, listened to my concerns, and truly made me feel heard. My review is not a reflection of the entire office. It's specifically about my experience with one doctor. However, after experiencing the level of care I received at the endodontist's office, I've decided to transfer my general dental care there rather than return here. The difference in patient care was significant, and it showed me how important empathy and communication are during dental treatment. I genuinely hope my experience was an isolated one because everyone else I encountered at this office was wonderful. Update: A few hours after I posted this review, Dr. Andy from Mission Grove Dentistry called me from the office. He later called a second time after I didn't answer. In his voicemail, he said he wanted to "clarify" his side of what happened, "explain from [his] perspective," and "kind of apologize for your(my) experience." To me, that voicemail missed the point. I wasn't looking for another perspective--I was looking for accountability and empathy. My review reflects my experience as a patient. I know what I experienced during my appointments, and I know how I felt afterward. The calls, combined with a voicemail focused on explaining his side, did not change my opinion of how this situation was handled. read more

Well folks, after being with my previous dentist of 25 years, I had to find a new dentist since mine retired. It's nerve wrecking to have to find another dentist, not alone where you feel comfortable and is gentle. I found it folks!! Only 10 mins away from home I now call Mission Grove Dentistry my dental home. From front desk to back office assts and the dentist I saw Dr. G is gentle and awesome. They run on time!! don't understand how they have so many good review for being such a lousy dentist. went because a tooth was bothering me for an exam and cleaning and right away without seen my teeth dentist started suggeating I get veneers. I've already had braces so no thank you. dentist said I needed all this extra work and wanted to charge my insurance about 3500 and for me to pay 1,500 out of pocket after telling me my insurance covers 80% and I'm responsible for 20%. I told them I would get a second opinion and they refused to do the basic cleaning even thought that's what they charged my insurance for and told me it was only for X-rays and exam. what a joke STAY AWAY!! all they want to see how Much money they can squeeze out of you. read more
