    Lunch burger
    David N.

Had the lunch burger which was a double pattie, bacon and cheese. A tad too salty on the burger but it was juicy and hot the spot. The fries were great and crunchy The plate salad is huge and very tasty. Had a nice zing and a combination of richness with the avocado and texture with the sunflower seeds Bloody Marys were solid and served in big pint glasses Service is great and we had the table right next to the sidewalk when the windows were open.

Went with a few friends and thought the food, wine and vibes were great! The service was good too. For a casual last minute reservation in NYC for good food and good vibes this place is a hit

Cute little brunch spot that isn't super busy! They gave us complimentary sweet loaf at the beginning which was delightful, and the flavours in the dishes were thoughtful and unique but so good. The French toast bites were delicious. Hidden gem!!

We had reservations for 4 to celebrate my husband's 30th birthday, he had been wanting to check out this spot for a while and I'm so glad we did! The food was phenomenal- from the appetizers and small plates to the mains you will not go wrong! We were seated in the back of the restaurant which allowed us a more intimate dining experience as it can easily fill up on a busy weekend. The smoked bluefish appetizer was a fan favorite of us all, as well as the bread with spring garlic butter! The pickles, cheese, and salami were also a hit but would definitely order two of that was the only appetizer you were getting The steak and fries - cooked to perfection! I am still drooling over the dish as I write this. My husband enjoyed his fried quail as well and we left feeling plenty full but not overly stuffed! Just enough room for dessert! We tend to not frequent restaurants more than once unless exceptionally worth it, and I'm happy to say we will definitely be back!

Food: 10/10 - The brunch food was delicious! The fries-- must try. Everything was packed with flavor, and the pickles (I think) are homemade! Service: 10/10 - Everyone is very kind and attentive! I came here with a Groupon and unlike other places where I have read the treatment is not great, this place is the opposite. Felt super welcomed and taken care of. Ambiance: 10/10 - Everything was super clean and it felt cozy while still giving enough space between people. Overall, glad Groupon helped me discover this place!

What a nice place! Stumbled upon it, looking for a snack. I heard the fries were great there, so I had some, and it's true, they're perfect. Also had some bread and garlic butter, super delish. Nice service, clean and simple restaurant

Not too chaotic on a Friday evening. Service was friendly and attentive. Wine selection was great. Loved the steak frites!

Visiting NY for the holiday and we found this spot while strolling through the area. Restaurant is very small but clean and unique. The atmosphere was inviting and calm. We sat at the bar and had a couple of drinks. We didn't eat anything but they do have a menu with small bites and such. This would be a nice spot for a small gathering or happy hour meet up. They also have gender neutral restrooms.

This was an awesome Tasting Collective dining club event we attended. It was a 6-course Elevated Seasonal Dinner Series. The inside is a bit small, long and narrow with a beautiful bar. The Chef of Houseman, Chef Baldwin came out to greet us with interesting background and history. We got to try Preserved Blue Fish, Greek Salad, Fried Whitebait, Grilled Tuna, Pork & Clam, and Malt Ice Cream. They were all very good in quality, some more interesting than other, and all very tasty. I especially enjoyed the grilled tuna, fried whitebait, and Pork & Clam dishes. They don't try to offer something super fancy, but more "everyday food" that are homey with comfy flavors. I wish if we got to try their popular burgers and fries, but they were not part of the course meal. We had a nice dinner here, we were blessed with really fun people at our table. Having dinner with a great company always makes the food taste better, thanks guys! The staffs were efficient and polite, they did a nice job taking care of us as a whole. Their regular menu seems simple yet interesting, just like the ones we got to try during this event. I would like to go back and try some other dishes in a future.

I am SO glad we did. The vibe drew us in, they had great music bumpin from the outside, it looked lively and welcoming. Let me tell you- I would have skipped dinner and just stayed here all evening if it was my choice! But alas, my husband wanted a bit more to eat. But let me tell you- their knowledge of wine is PRISTINE! I can't tell you what white wine we had but they captured our tastes perfectly. We also shared a bruschetta and it was deliciouso! I love how friendly the staff was here and how unpretentious it all was. Next time we are in NYC- we will definitely make a point to come visit Rake!

First I'll start with the wine - we ended up trying all three happy hour wines (HH until 7), which the tables favorites were the white and we ended up getting a bottle to split once HH ended (but I really enjoyed the other vino verde option). It was incredibly refreshing and paired well with the many tinned fish options. As you'd expect - it's a pretty massive selection and there is bound to be a varietal and glass for any palate. It's also attached to a wine store - so it's fine to see all the bottles when peaking over. Food-wise - this is where it was hit or miss, they have a pretty extensive menu (with a whole tinned fish section!) and we ended up ordering the buratta on focaccia (buratta was excellent, focaccia was too dense for my tastes), mushroom truffle crostini (way too salty), the flatbread with sliced kielbasa (was fine), halloume (table favorite ), tinned sardines in lemon oil (delicious), tinned smoked trout (my favorite). Overall the four of us were very full at the end of the meal! The space itself felt very relaxing and rustic, and definitely got busier as the night went on (we got there at 6:50 and left around 9). The service was also fast and attentive - even for the amount of tables they were serving. Overall - I'd definitely go back again, and maybe just focus on the wine and another tinned fish selection!

Thank you to my lovely friend who spent who knows how long trying to get a reservation here. Chilled celtuce (4/5): is it a combination of celery and lettuce? idk but it kinda reminded me of radish, with a clean/slightly bland flavor but it had this hydrating quality to it and a nice crunch. Sesame shao bing (5/5): a literal drug in the most innocuous and tasty form of flatbread. It has the crispiest flake on the outside with a perfectly chewy doughiness to it and a literal slab of butter inside, which melts in real time (careful not to go too ham and let it dribble down your arms and get all over your clothes...because it's just THAT good). Sweet & sour short rib (4/5): the cook on these short ribs were super tender, I just think the marinade was very strong, with a particularly vinegary aroma. Eight treasure rice pudding with sticky toffee (4/5): she's a 4 only because I don't like toffee, but the rice pudding was hands down heavenly. Service was solid, and they have a chic, dim ambience for the tables inside whereas the outdoor seating sits underneath the lanterns and soaks up the streets of Chinatown, so each have a merit of its own.

Walked in at 8pm on a Wednesday and was able to sit right away for a limited time (1.5hrs), which was plenty for us. It's small, as most places in NYC are, and dark & intimate. They also have shared tables, so we sat with another couple. Huge wine selection. Everything we ate was delicious. To me, the Celtuce is more of a novelty - cool, yummy, fresh but small. The crudo was the same thing. So in my opinion, I don't think it's worth the money. The noodles were so good we got 2 orders of it - you cannot skip!! The dessert was also unlike anything I've had before. If you love sticky rice and caramel/toffee, you have to try it. Overall, I do think it was very expensive but the ambiance + some of the dishes were well worth it. I'd definitely come back.

The ssam lettuce wraps were good, though they read a little more like Jewish brisket with a spicy bean sauce than what I expected from a Korean lettuce wrap. Still tasty, just a different vibe.
