We talked to Randy the bathroom guy at the Hamburg Home Show, fun pleasing guy! We showed him pictures of our master bath to show the scope of the job. We also had a drawing of our dream! He looked it over and said it would be around$30,000 total with EVERYTHING INCLUDED!! , that's about the going price! He came to our house we talked, we dropped our dream decided to just replace everything where it is. The only real change was removing the boxed in jetted tub and installing a free standing tub. The plumbing would only need treaking. The shower was staying where it was! He suggested opening up our door to make it ADA compliant, putting up,a barn door on the bedroom side. I asked how much that would cost he said don't worry I'll give allowances for all of it , He suggested making the shower,bigger by bumping it into our spare bedroom,. And there is more but , time. As he left he asked what we were thinking , I said under $30, 000 like you said, he called and said $40,000 !! I again asked if we could do demo, get our own faucets, vanity, tiles to keep cost down. He was very honest , I admire that! He said basically We send you to places we deal with because we trust the products, I understand that. But he also said you pick a faucet for $250 we mark it up to $450 ?? That is a big mark up. At that point he said he is not the guy for my job!! We hired House Crafters 8/2022 for a complete remodel of our single bathroom. Removed the soaker tub and replaced with a walk in shower. It took 3 weeks, but we were prepared - reserved a room at a local Inn for showers and toilet needs during the day. Everything looked great when the Jos was finished. The two fellows doing the work were real gentlemen, knew their craft and we got along fine. Down the round a bit we noticed puddles on the basement floor. Water flowing down an electric wire. Hum, this can't be good. Called the company. And so started a year long adventure. The back wall of my closet is flush with the bathroom shower wall. It has been sawed to 1/3 its size. And still no solution has been found to the leak. Every time someone comes to look into the problem the contents of my closet have to be removed! Are you thinking ladies"this could be me?" This is causing mental issues in our house. Now the project manager wants to widen the path behind the shower wall ( my closet wall) and possibly start with a floor somewhere. The only snafu was that it took a while to get the job started, but that's due to the hold up with lumber materials etc. once the job started they completed it very quick. One star is giving them too much. Worst experience I have ever had with a company. I am so upset that I chose them, to the point where I wish I could have a professional come and redo the room. Walk me through the process from start to finish - asking what we wanted. I didn't know what we could have had until I found a video of what I was finally told they were installing. The whole process was hideous from start to finish. The lack of communication was crippling. The combative attitude of the owner and the foreman was mind boggling. I so wanted to LOVE this room. I wish they would have held our hand through it a bit more, so we could have ended up with what we wanted - even though it took them 17 weeks to complete, instead of 8. Least professional business I have ever encountered. Worked on my neighbor's roof, and left nails all over my driveway. I asked the crew, and kindly messaged the business asking for better cleanup. The crew was kind, but left a mess still. The owner has been rude and arrogant from the beginning. Very defensive about everything, keeps asking for my phone number and claiming he doesn't believe I am a real person. He got very nasty with me so I ended communication. Almost 2 years later he commented again on a Google review that he still thinks I'm fake. I reported them to the BBB and the owner started harassing me, calling names. If I could give ZERO stars I would. Had my siding done and five different instances I had to call the company to tell them different pieces of siding had come off. Not only did I have to call again to remind the company to send someone to fix it, when I called the FIFTH time- the owner had zero remorse or concerns. He explained how they made their "own clips" because the normal clips were hard to find. The owner had close to nothing to say other than "ok". Horrible customer service, horrible joke of an attempt to fix the issues and even worse sense of accountability. Would NEVER recommend this company to anyone. read more

I'd give them 10/5 stars if allowed! They did my garage roof years ago. Has them just replace house roof, skylights and gutters. Then we had a series of downpours... and the skylights didn't leak. If I could give 0 stars I would. The sales guy was great. But he is no longer there which is telling. We put deposit down in February expecting to have roof done in May. Kept getting told next week because the spring was wet. Then told next week because they were backed up. All we wanted was a metal roof. Told he didn't have the supply which should have been ordered back in February as far as I am concerned. Then blind sided and told I would have to wait until at least another month!! Fired them for lack of follow thru and respect. Each time we spoke Mark have a different story as to what was wrong or why we had to wait. Loser as far as I am concerned. If I could give them negative stars I would. Took them 7 months to complete a project that should have been done in 3- 5 months. Why..due to very very poor communication (ED), a lot of mistakes ( we were told a lot that..mistakes happen) apparently a lot with this company, other excuses..weather, scheduling on their part not ours, vacation time ( again them not us ) & manufacturer delays for products we had no say in ordering. We did not get to personally pick out our 8000 dollar walk-in tub, they took it upon themselves to pick it out, from their supplier, I saw no pictures, didn't even get to pick a color, if they only came in one color, I wouldn't have known. Did not get options to order the walk in tub or stand up shower. As for initial start, I had to email to find out when our start date was. Start was supposed to be in April, I emailed about date, got told due to weather they where behind on the million dollar house they where finishing in Buffalo, but we were next. April 29th a concrete guy showed up to pour foundation, they had to find a new guy for our project because normal concrete guy couldn't get in before they breached their own contract with us. Concrete guy didn't know what he was doing, trashed our yard because it was still raining, splashed concrete onto my aluminum siding and poured it all wrong, so when the rain continued for 2 weeks, I had a pool for a foundation & water leaking into my basement through basement window, so much so it burned out our sump pump, so we had to replace that and got an" awww" from Housecrafters(Ed) when we informed him. Concrete guy proceeded to come to our house harassing us & threatened to put a lien on our house because Housecrafters didn't pay them for the job they did. Would have cancelled contract then, but if you read their contract, you have 3 days to cancel without any repercussions, the project didn't start till 3 months after signing contract. It is not easy to cancel a contract with a General Contractor once work starts.Their original concrete guy finally got scheduled in to come out to rip up the whole new foundation & replace, they did it right that time. So this was just the start to our nightmarish story with Housecrafters, I really could write a book, with pictures, surveillance video & recorded conversations about how bad this project went, how impersonal it was & how apparently this was their house they were working on, not ours, but I can't here due to limited characters. 3 weeks after final payment, I still have a shiny spot on my house from where they attempted to remove the cement the first time with a power washer & scrub brush & removed paint instead. And no receipt for warranty on walk in tub. Update: 2/21/18- at some point after this review, someone from Housecrafters came out ( not sure, as they did not acknowledge they came here) & put a BLOB of white paint on the shiny spot on siding. Still no receipt or warranty for the supposed $8000.00 walk-in tub. read more

I had a roof installed by house crafters the shingles were not sealed properly ( which the installers should have noted, being experienced in this field ) all the roof shingles blew up and House crafters gave me another roof and each time installing, they dropped the shingles on the roof which cracked my ceiling. further more I have water coming through the vent in the bathroom for six months I call them practically once a week to tell them. They have come two times to remedy this, the second time they tried to fix it, now it is worse! I feel that this company should have greater knowledge to the problem and know how to correct this blunder !!!! read more

We had House Crafters install new gutters, siding, ridge vents along our roof, and new trim/wrap for our soffit and fascia board between May and September of 2016. The communication and customer service from House Crafters was unbelievably poor. I had to place numerous calls and leave several voicemails just to get the work scheduled and keep the project rolling. The first part of the project started one day early without any prior notice given to me. I just received a phone call at work from the gutter contractors, who House Crafters had subcontracted, informing me that they were on site ready to start. The remaining work on the siding and roof did not take place until July, all completed in the late afternoon and evenings by one contractor who came to our house after finishing his day's work at another site. Then, in late July they tried to bill us for the project when the job was not even complete, which I had to inform them of. It took another two months and several more unanswered voicemails and calls before I could get House Crafters to put the finishing touches on the project to complete it. I had several conversations over the phone with Mark Casillo, the owner, and Bob Brady. Mark pretty much made me feel worthless as a customer and tried to even hurry me off the phone at times without addressing my concerns. I ended up writing Mark a 5 page letter detailing the nightmare my wife and I had to go through just to get them to complete this project. Time will tell as far as the quality of the work goes, but I am not overly optimistic. Part of the Azek board they installed fell off and damaged the railing on our front porch. When they removed the siding, they did not end up replacing it until a few days later, leaving the bare wood exposed to the outdoor elements. While they did pile up the trash on the front lawn, they neglected to pick up any nails or make us aware that there were going to be nails all through our landscaping and lawn. That evening, my wife and I picked up 58 nails altogether. When the work was continued later that week, I had to inform the contractor that he was to drill holes in the soffit for ventilation, which he claimed he was never told even though it was written up in the estimate. He also was short on supplies and had to leave a portion of the drilled soffit leading into our attic exposed for a couple of days. If you are considering contractors, please read this and reconsider. While my house project was on the smaller side, I do not feel anyone should be treated of lower value just because their job is not as profitable or extensive as others. However, this is exactly the impression I got in my conversations with Mark. I felt as if our house was just an afterthought for House Crafters the entire time. On their write-up sheets for project quotes, it says people choose House Crafters because they start and finish one job at a time, answer all service calls within 7 business days, and have a 20 year experienced foreman on every job. I can tell you that from my experience not one of these statements was upheld by House Crafters. In the end, I had a long conversation with Bob to see if we could come to an agreement on a discount for the work performed. While there was some compromise made, I did not get desired discount that I was hoping for. Furthermore, Bob told me that I was even being ridiculous for asking for such a discount. To me that was just a slap in the face, but perhaps he did not know the whole story from our end and what we went through over the previous several months. I had hoped to receive some response from Mark or Bob in regards to my letter, but that has not been the case. I am sure Mark will see this review though and have some sort of response. Check out any negative review or complaint of House Crafters online, including the BBB, and Mark always has some sort of rebuttal. Hopefully they get the message that they need to get organized with their communication and that will help the customer get a better experience in working with them. read more

Called them on two separate occasions to find out why they didn't keep their appointment. Both times, they had no explanation and no apology. We've had probably a dozen different companies come out and try to figure out how to fix our leaking roof. Almost every single one was happy to offer a bandaid type solution. House Crafters sat down with us and took the time to truly investigate the problem. They suggested a large amount of work but showed us why the problems existed, and offered a more than fair price. After three weeks of just waiting for the quote and two calls into them they finally called back and said the job was to small. So if you think your job is too small don't bother to call. read more

We would not recommend this company to anyone. We had them come out to give us an estimate on our house. The gentleman who came out to give us a quote was very friendly and helpful. We called back a few weeks later as another roofer informed us there was more than one layer of roofing on the roof requesting that they House Crafter come back out and re-estimate before we signed a contract with them. The gentleman who originally quoted had since left the company and someone else came back out to look at the roof. The new guy quoted three times the original quote....yes three times. My husband and I were appalled and told him we would not be hiring them. He proceeded to tell us we would not find anyone to do the job for the price they originally quoted. WRONG....we did find a roofer and House Crafters quote was more than triple. There profit margin is unbelievable. Not a good company at all! read more

We needed 3 windows replaced in our front living room. Saw this contractor at a home show and signed up for an estimate to be done. They never called us like they said they would. We had to call them. They sent someone out on a Saturday to do our estimate. He shows up in his H3, no paperwork and one measly brochure. Looks at the 3 windows and gives us an "estimate" off the top of his head. We then asked about another set of windows which he quickly said don't bother. Interesting seeing as we asked for a price on these windows. We wanted him to order the windows to replace the 3 in the front and he said he would have to come back because he doesn't carry anything to write an estimate with him.... seriously? Said he would either come back later that day or Monday. No show either time. Called and I guess said he was sick or something. Rescheduled for that Saturday. Called and gave some lame excuse of might have windows in some warehouse and the owner had to go find them. Still no written estimate! Scheduled AGAIN for this past Monday. Big shocker... no show AGAIN! HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE! I waited all day for this place to call me and come with an estimate and there was no courtesy towards my time. Not sure how they are still in business? Maybe they felt I wasn't worth the time because I only wanted 3 windows done. Rude and inconsiderate business! My money is going elsewhere! read more

I called House Crafters a few weeks ago to set up an appointment for an estimate to install a permanent roof over out existing deck. An appointment was set up right away but i had to call the next day to reschedule. The woman I spoke to said Jennifer was not in and she would call me back after 9 when she got in. Over a week and a half I receive a call on our answering machine from Jennifer asking if we were happy with our estimate. I called her back and said you never called me back to schedule the estimate. She said, Oh wait, I see the guy who does the estimates was on vacation so I couldn't schedule it. I said well can we schedule something now. She said I'll have to call you back when I look at his calendar. I asked her if it will be today. She said, Oh no I'm leaving in 5 minutes (4:55) and I will call you back when i get in at 9:00 tomorrow. It's 10:15 and no call. Guess this is a sign this company is not reliable. read more
