Mama’s Papas - Crispy Quesatacos - Kalua Pork & Chicken Tinga

The wait was significant, but they were super upfront about that, which I appreciated. The chicken tinga was the standout - super tasty! The pork was also really nice, but be warned, the quesataco is rich and filling. I couldn't quite make it. The asado was nice, but basic. Overall, very solid!

They post their calendar on social media at the beginning of each month so you can view where to find them, however it's not always accurate so beware if you are expecting them to be at a specific event. I visited their food stand at Temescal Brewing in Oakland this past Sunday. It was easy to order for takeout at the self-order kiosk, but they also had QR codes at each of the tables in the brewery's outdoor beer garden to conveniently place orders. Staff was friendly, and my order was ready in just 10 minutes, packed neatly with napkins and utensils included without me having to ask. I got the crispy quesatacos with kalua pork, keto style. I was a bit disappointed as the entire taco including the kalua pork filling was dry and not cheesy at all despite the crispy cheese shell. The sauces that came on the side didn't help. Perhaps it was slightly overcooked or maybe just the keto version is this dry, but that's unfortunate since it actually costs more to get it this way. It wasn't terrible, but I didn't feel it was worth a pricey ten bucks apiece.

There is plenty of parking space and we got seated immediately on a weekend night. The atmosphere had a nice izakaya vibe and the staff were friendly and explained the menu clearly. I got the deluxe Mazemen, which came with two types of eggs, onions, chashu, minced pork and flavor powder. After mixing everything together, I took a bite and it was a flavor explosion. All the ingredients complement each other and was yummy. Once you finish all the noodles, the staff gives you a bowl of rice to mix and finish the sauce. The sauce infused rice was super delicious and was a nice treat after finishing the main meal. The only downside of the dish was that I felt like they gave too many chives. Overall I had an excellent time at Wadaya, enjoyed their food, and would recommend giving this place a shot!

The Mazemen sauce a little spicier than I expected, and for the spice level, the flavor was only so-so for me. I also like to try the takoyaki from differentplaces, and this one was also only OK (not above average for me). What makes this place overall a solid 4 for me was the quality of the noodles. The texture was really special, and the noodles alone are worth coming back for. I'll most likely try another mazeman variety next time and/or a basic tonkatsu.

Our Absolute Favorite Local Go-To Ramen Spot!…read more Love that this is a well-known spot both in California and Japan, and so lucky it's right here close to home--just a 10-minute drive! It's always busy, but when it's just the two of us on a weekday evening or weekend afternoon, it's usually pretty easy to grab a seat. I love that they have an online waitlist to keep the physical wait short, and that they even take reservations when you have a group. Tonight we were a party of six on a Friday night, and I was so glad I secured a 6:00 PM reservation a couple of days in advance! It was super busy. My parents were in town for a short visit from Vegas on their way to Elk Grove, so bringing them to one of our favorite ramen spots totally hit the spot. We started with the edamame and fried gyoza appetizers, which were fantastic. The yuzu cocktail was super refreshing, especially paired with ramen. My parents loved their creamy tonkotsu ramen with the crispy katsu served on the side. As for us, we went with our absolute go-to: the Spicy TanTan Ramen (Level 4 for me, Level 10 for babe!). We always enjoy the Spicy TanTan for its rich, creamy, flavorful broth, and love the spicy ground pork. This is a definite go-to whenever we're craving ramen and so happy to have it so close to home!

They are down to their final days with their closure on 02/15/2026, I went to have a last meal with them :( I always recommended this place to all my friends for some K-fried chicken with soju and a cool ambiance. The restaurant is decorated very cool also but I've never posted pictures because my camera doesn't take great pictures in the lighting lol. My favorite things to get were the Pocha K chicken and the rose tteok bokki. Their chicken is consistently very crispy and the sweet savory sauce is soo yummm.

Here's what I got on my recent visit: + Boneless Korean Fried Chicken (5/5): So crispy, juicy, and saucy! I loooove eating this with the cabbage. Best thing here for sure. Expensive... but fun for a night out! + Cheese Tonkatsu Pork Cutlet (4/5): Crispy and very cheesy! Tasty, but a little small for the portion to be honest. Considering the price, I was expecting more. + Pocha Rose Tteokbokki (3/5): Nothing special. On the spicier side, so I wish it was more creamy. Rice cakes were a little too firm for me too. I wouldn't order it again. + Kimbap (4/5): Solid and made fresh! Good ingredients. These are not very durable though. They would start falling apart at just the touch of them.

I kept seeing drip dessert house all over my Uber Eats app and finally after hot girl summer is coming to an end I mustard up the courage peeling myself off of the couch for a sweet treat. The location is cute with limited seating where you have the option to eat here or to go. Walking in for our first visit we were greeted and helped right away. We were given great recommendations. We ended up ordering a Belgan waffle with several of their drizzle sauces and crumble toppings. Our finished masterpiece ended up being a little bit too overdone with the sauce, but it was an experience well never forget. We also ordered one of their strawberry mixed drinks which lacked the carbination we were expecting, but the flavor was there. The waffle was warm, crispy, fluffy, decidant, and had a great texture. Portions were huge and we ended up having half of the waffle left over which surprisingly still tasted just as great a day later which is something i never say as left overs arent my thing. Yes, im putting this spot on a pedestal with a crown (rare, i know right) because it was that great and i cant wait for my next visit.

There was plenty of room between the tables, which made it a nice place to sit down and enjoy a meal without feeling crowded. Customer Service - 4/5 The service was good throughout the meal. Everything came out smoothly, and I had a pleasant experience from beginning to end. The only thing I would comment on would be the attitude , I didn't feel really welcomed when I came in and during the ordering process. Food - 4.8/5 Dish Ordered: Korean Ginseng Chicken Soup (Samgyetang) - 4.8/5 The chicken was about 95% perfect for me. Most of it was tender and enjoyable, but the breast meat started to become slightly dry. It wasn't dry to the point of being tough or unpleasant, though. If the breast had stayed just a little more tender and juicy, this probably would've been a perfect 5/5 for me. Banchan (Side Dishes) 4/5 The side dishes were another highlight. They were abundant, delicious, and complemented the soup extremely well. When I say abundant I mean it. There was a huge selection of side dishes. They didn't all taste delicious but most of it was. Sometimes side dishes can feel like an afterthought, but here they were something I genuinely enjoyed alongside the main meal. Additional Comment: One thing I personally noticed was how I felt afterward. This isn't medical advice, but after drinking the soup, I genuinely felt a burst of energy. Whether it was from the warm broth, ginseng, chicken, or simply having a satisfying meal, I walked away feeling really good. Would I come back? Hells Yeah. I would definitely come back specifically for the ginseng chicken soup and the side dishes. The soup alone
