I loved it here. We hiked at Kaaterskill Falls and Diamond Notch Path, also took the ski lift up Windham Mountain to get the view....so it was a great central location. The room was very clean & quiet. You can tell they are very thoughtful of their guests and pay attention to the details to make our stay comfortable. The people in charge guided us regarding hiking as we were totally unfamiliar. They are kind and relate well with guests; they follow the guests lead as to when to be talkative or quiet, which I appreciated. A beautiful walking path also just down the road, steps away, with creek, covered bridge, a beaver family even! So scenic & serene it blew me away. We really appreciated the basic but nutritious breakfast, especially the fresh baked goods with nice jam on the side~Yum! The smallish dining room is very attractive, cozy & clean with natural wood furnishings & a fireplace for cold weather. Bottom line is I have nothing negative to report and recommend Hotel Vienna Windham highly! read more

Super cute hotel in a great area. Decor is slightly dated but the rooms and common areas are charming and very clean. They offered nice touches like coffee, tea, hot chocolate and snacks available throughout the day and the wine list was really affordable. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful - definitely ask about discounted lift tickets. Location is super close to skiing, hiking, and downtown Windham. Would definitely return! read more

We just spent two nights at Hotel Vienna in Windham NY and was once again, very pleasantly surprised. We stayed here many times years ago, but haven't been there in years. While it's not The Ritz Carlton or any major luxury chain, it's great for the location. You're in the Catskills and just a mile or so from Windham Mountain (for skiing, boarding, ice skating, tubing, biking, zip lining, adventure park, etc) and the Mountain's Golf Course. Hotel Vienna is run more like a B&B in that you get fresh baked goods after a long day of skiing, fresh coffee, tea, etc. And a continental breakfast is also included with yummy freshly baked pastries (as well as other healthy options). As Liz T. stated in her review, it definitely doesn't look great from the outside, and the decor is very dated, but it is very CLEAN which really appeals to me. They also offer free shuttle service to the mountain so you don't have to deal with parking and your skis. I believe they also have discounted lift tickets so be sure to ask about that. Bottom line, I am giving it a 5 star rating, because you won't find a better place in Windham....and they really do a nice job.... Hope that helps! Mary L read more

My wife and I just returned from the Hotel Vienna and actually stayed for 4 days. We bought 2 Living Social vouchers and used them to extend our stay. First, our stay was nothing but perfect! The room was clean, the service was wonderful, the hotel was modern and charming. The jacuzzi tub in the room was big enough for 2 people and was clean, worked perfectly and they even supplied bath salts for the tub. No cigarette burns and definitely not from the 70's. Considering that the entire hotel is non-smoking, I would not expect and did not find cigarette burns anywhere We received 2 wine baskets - 1 for each voucher. Both baskets contained a full 750 ml bottle and a 375 ml bottle. More than enough for several glasses each. The breakfast, which was represented as "continental" was more than that. Fresh baked croissants, cheese and jelly danish, organic yogurt (both plain and flavored), a large assortment of cereals, jelly, bananas, juices, ice tea, hot chocolate, orange and apple juice and more. Far from a mere continental breakfast. A microwave was also available for use at all times. In addition to the refrigerator in our room, the breakfast area had a refrigerator available 24/7 so you could always grab some juice and complimentary soda as you wished. Coffee was always on and always fresh. As far as creepy music described in another review, it must have been in the reviewers head because their was no such thing. Many of the comments must have been in the reviewers head because the comments are a flat out lie since we stayed at Hotel Vienna only 4 days later and none of the complaints were apparent The indoor pool was amazingly clean and refreshing and the whirlpool tub was immaculate, hot and super relaxing after a long day. The staff were unbelievably helpful with recommendations for dining, days spas and such and even made dinner reservations for us upon request. The Hotel Vienna is a 30 room "boutique" hotel.The cost of our stay was quite a steal for us and we will and intend to visit Rick, the owner again in the very near future. I find it truly suspect that Karsten W. & Andrea A., from the same city post the only negative reviews on the same date. Just ignore them and enjoy a truly wonderful experience. read more

I highly recommend Hotel Vienna! The hotel is very clean and has an indoor pool and hot tub. Ask for a balcony room facing the mountain. Breakfast is simple, but good (example- croissants, cereal, and boiled eggs). The beds/mattresses are very comfortable. The owners are friendly! read more

My wife and I wanted to get away from it all. Not really knowing what to do, I just booked a room at Hotel Vienna. We had never been to that side of New York so this was a bit of an adventure. We were lucky to get the last room that was available on a Friday which was the same day that we were planning to check in. Since we were coming after work, we were going to be checking in late. We called the front desk to inform them of our late arrival and the receptionist was very accommodating. The front desk was still open and the attendant was very cordial and friendly and was willing to stay and talk to us about sightseeing tours and things of that nature, even though it was past 11 pm. The room was nice and comfortable, it has an old school feel to it, but it is very nice and comfortable. Breakfast was very nice and filling, freshly baked danishes and croissants. Over all a very good stay and I am glad I booked this room. read more

I was staying on Memorial Day, which I'm sure affected the prices, but this was not a $150/night hotel, and it exaggerates its amenities on the website. I'd say this is comparable to a Motel 6. The wardrobe door was falling of its hinges, the bathroom ceiling was rotting and falling off, and the sink was clogged. The "continental breakfast" consisted of a tray of croissants and pastries next to a disgusting bowl of peeled hard-boiled eggs. There was yogurt and cold cereal too, but not a single bit of cooked food. The hotel was convenient to local hiking and attractions, so I'd consider staying again if the price were much lower and I did not plan on eating. read more

My wife and I stayed over Veteran's Day weekend and instantly fell in love with this place! Although, one might say that the rooms are a bit outdated, but what it lacks in modern upgrades, it makes up with its charm and character! The hotel also has a very cozy kitchen area with a fireplace and daily baked goods for everyone to share! In addition, they also have a common area in the basement level with couches, fireplace and big screen TV for a group to hang out. Rick and his staff were very friendly and Rick himself took his time to provide us with hiking trails to visit around the area. We will definitely be back next year! read more

Awful place!! We got there for our reservation after traveling for 7 hours. Walked in and they looked at my kids and told me they couldn't stay!! They said room was only reserved for 2 adults. I definitely enjoyed my stay here. Friendly staff, clean rooms, great location. It's European style chalet with well designed common area for breakfast gatherings; even though I must admit that I'm partial to fireplaces, the seating is comfortable and inviting. Such a nice hotel. We arrived on a Friday for a two night stay. To zip line at hunter mt. It's a two story hotel and it has 30 rooms. Makes it manageable and cozy. They serve a continental breakfast in a room off the lobby, has a nice fireplace too! Near to all that matters. The owners are very pleasant and there is an indoor pool about 50 feet from the main bldg. The rooms are wonderful! We had a huge king bed with a jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. Very nice and kept extremely clean!! We would stay here again. read more

The place is inexpensive and has decent rooms. We had a little balcony that had some view and some pine tree. The service was the best thing here. From the front desk to the maids. The breakfast was less than inspiring but will get the job done - hard boiled eggs, bagels, croissants with jelly, cereal and yogurt. The grounds are nicely maintained and there's some nice walking trails that pass right by the place. The pool is small and not connected to the building with the rooms. OK in the summer but those cold winter nights may have you thinking if you really want to deal with it. Three stars is A-OK and that's just what this place is. If your thinking fancy - look elsewhere but if you want a decent place for a decent price, this is your place. read more

We stayed here after a day of snowboarding at Windham Mountain. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. The room felt nice and large even with a big king size bed...very clean as well. They have a decent wine selection that you can order to your room and an extensive DVD collection if you want to cozy up after a day on the slopes. 5 min drive from the mountain and plenty of local restaurants near by. I stayed here after having a challenging experience at another spot in the area. I was treated like royalty by the friendly staff of Hotel Vienna. I chose a room that had a spa bathtub which was delightful after a long day of hiking. I also enjoyed the terrace. The location is stunningly gorgeous and I enjoyed taking a walk on the scenic Windham Path, located right behind the property. My bed was very comfortable and the hotel was wonderfully quiet at night. I enjoyed meeting other guests in the breakfast room and chatting by the fireplace. I'm not usually a fan of continental breakfast but I'm glad I checked it out - the free croissants were delicious! I will definitely return here next time I'm in the area. Great hotel! Perfect location to ski at Windham Mountain, literally 3 mins away. Staff is super friendly and helpful. We arrived late to check in, they left the keys and just had us check-in in the morning. Rooms are big and clean. Very nice breakfast included. Fresh pastries, fruit, yogurt, oatmeal, etc. Coffee, tea, and cookies all day/night. Refrigerator and microwave available. We didn't get a chance to use the pool but it looked good. This Hotel is a great find!! Cozy atmosphere, indoor pool and hot tub, and spectacular views. Me and my girlfriend come here at least once a year to enjoy the tranquil atmosphere and to get away from the noise. This hotel is beyond clean. I would use the word immaculate to describe the rooms and bathrooms. The staff is kind and they are always happy to help make your stay enjoyable. We always stay on the second floor with the mountain view. We even received a free bottle of wine during our last stay because we asked about the local vineyard. I would recommend this to anyone or any couple looking to escape for a couple days. Can't beat the price either. We will be back for sure!! read more

We just came back after spending a week here - had a great time with the family. Peaceful, beautiful, clean with lots to do or as little as you want. Great clean/ windowed indoor pool & hot tub with very good local hiking. Great time at Howe Cavern. Free breakfast was much bigger than most continentals (peeled boiled eggs, croissants, cinnamon rolls, cereals, bananas, yogurts, teas, juice, etc.) Besides in-room frig you can keep some items in the breakfast frig. Balcony was a nice touch to relax on or store wet cloths & the room was very clean, large (2 sinks), comfy beds with very gd water pressure. Rick the owner & Rachel spent time helping us plan our day - the older gal always in black wasn't as helpful but maybe it was a bad week. Great place, price and memories - THANK YOU! read more

I bought a deal off of livingsocial and it was the worst mistake ever. The hotel, or in reality motel, was awful. It was straight out of Hot Tub Tub Time Machine. The jacuzzi was old and dirty and really just a crummy tub from the late 70's. There were cigaretter burns all over it and the wine basket I was offered was a single small bottle that was not enough for 2 glasses of wine. It is a drive to get anywhere and the breakfast was pathetic. Never again. read more

My boyfriend bought a living social voucher for 2 nights in a king bed with a jacuzzi and a mountain view room for my birthday. The voucher also included a wine basket. We really enjoyed our stay here. The bed was extremely comfortable and the jacuzzi was so great to use. We also had a terrace with two chairs and enjoyed sitting outside sipping the wine. The hotel owners were very warm and helpful. We told them that we wanted to go hiking nearby and go kayaking on Friday night when we checked in. Saturday morning they gave us printed out directions to a few places to go hiking and kayaking along with a price list for the kayaking area. They also gave us a map of the area where they marked up the hotel location and the hiking and kayaking sites. The breakfast was the best I have had at the hotel. They have quaker instant oatmeal, apples, bananas, yogurt, soymilk, homemade museli, hard boiled eggs, pastries, croissants, orange juice, fat free milk, coffee, tea, and a few more things I probably missed. Very easy to make a healthy and filling breakfast for yourself. They also clean up pretty regularly during the breakfast so the room always looks neat and tidy and everything is always filled. They also have a parking lot to park your car. There is a hammock in the front yard and some chairs to sit on. There is a pool and jacuzzi room but we did not use it since we had a jacuzzi in the room. Overall, highly recommended, it was a great stay! read more

Me and my boyfriend just stayed here over the weekend. Skiing season is practically over so there weren't to many other guests at the hotel, so this review is based on the off season. Everyone we met who worked here were extremely nice and helpful. The room was as clean as it gets. Rooms are big and the Jacuzzi tub is defiantly a plus! They have a free continental breakfast which is always good to see since a lot of hotels no longer do that. Nothing fancy just croissants, cereal, fruit, oatmeal and coffee, great for the morning your leaving or even before skiing. The hotel jacuzzi/pool was very clean, it is in another building so if you want bring a robe to walk over in! They have lemon water and cookies for guest right near the check-in area...the cookies were amazing and we were both drinking the water every time we passed (nice little touch!). They have dozens of movies to choose from to watch in the room and a cute fireplace in the breakfast area. We will 100% be staying here the next time we take a trip to Windham mountain! Just returned from the Hotel Vienna for a short getaway. Just as described on its website...super clean. Rooms nice and big, we had a parking lot view but we knew that when we booked. Actually it wasn't bad at all..they have great landscaping. Staff very friendly, although the woman who checked us in was a little concerned that we got there early...no problem though, we didn't expect our room to be ready. It was ready at the appropriate time. Continental breakfast perfect in a cute little room with a wood stove that I'm sure gets a lot of use in the cold weather. We were using a "Living Social" voucher so the price was perfect. I would definitely recommend staying here! read more
