This tucked away hidden gem of a hotel was a great find right off 360. You follow up the narrow winding road that leads you to the hotel, parking garage and Apple campus. It's a bit confusing where to park as I don't like to do valet and it's a walk from the garage to the hotel. I made the mistake of going to the back where the pool is following an employee. Then realized I needed to walk back down and around to the entrance to check in. The hotel is beautiful and gives the feel of being in the Italian countryside. The lobby is welcoming and the flowers look real even though they're artificial. The bar is very welcoming and good vibes all around. My friend and I had a bit of a staycation and found the room clean, spacious and loved the kitchenette and comfortable bed. A complimentary bottle of wine and water was a nice touch. We could actually enjoy the bottle with wince glasses. The bathroom was spacious but a shower only. I opted to leave my phone in the room to really focus on the present and not scrolling on my phone. So sadly no pictures. We booked massages in the spa. I've been to many hotel spas and this set up was rather disjointed and confusing. Coming out of the elevator (which was decorated with a Tuscan painting on the back wall) the spa shop was there but the door was locked and nobody inside. We waited for a bit until a woman saw us and came from down the hall to check us in. We had booked online and upgraded to a deep tissue massage. While the charge was there, it didn't seem to convey to her screen. She finally said okay just head down the hall, you're all checked in. So we go down the hall and find the door to the spa and really didn't know where to go. One of our therapists came out and handed us a paper to fill out as we sat on the lounge chairs and then said we could go into the dressing room to change into a robe and put our things in the lockers. We arrived an hour early to possibly enjoy the sauna or steam shower but weren't told anything. So we came back out in our robes, barefoot and filled out the short consent form and waited. There were a couple of ladies who had finished their facials or whatever service and were chairing....yet we sat there waiting for some guidance. My therapist was Hilary. The table was comfortable but not heated and she demonstrated a drop for your boobs which was interesting and a nice touch and turned on the heated table but it wasn't ever really warm. It was not by any means a deep tissue massage. More what I call a fluff and buff. I felt like I was being massaged by a massage student applying oil but didn't really wanting to touch me. I kept saying you can go deeper and use your elbows but she didn't. What she massaged on one side wasn't the same routine on the other. I think the massage was only about 45 minutes long. The hot towels were a nice touch but she kept walking away for long gaps in-between. She seemed distracted. Then after the massage, she mentioned the sauna and other amenities but at that point we had dinner reservations and needed to get ready in the room. So sadly had to decline as that should've been offered in the beginning and then the therapist come and collect us when it was time for our appointment. Maybe a tour of the spa and a better explanation should've been offered. After we got changed, once again nobody was in the shop part to check out. For the price, the service was not worth it. Same woman came from down the hall and came in and had trouble with the check out and charge. So fantastic hotel and amenities but the spa needs room for improvement. Especially since most guests have never been there before and from out of town. That's why I couldn't give a full 5 stars. read more

Having spent 20+ years in hospitality, travel and the spa industry, including experience with Spafinder, i-SPA, Four Seasons and Marriott, I tend to notice the details. I've also experienced extraordinary five- and even six-star properties, and I've learned that true luxury isn't simply about what has been spent--it's consistency, attention to detail, anticipatory service and, most importantly, people who understand hospitality. My best friend, Janel, and I took two days to simply be together and literally open the calendar to plan some of her future travels. With her children now in college, she's at a wonderful stage of life where she wants to see the world and experience the best of the best--five-star hotels, exceptional restaurants and memorable experiences. Hotel Viata seemed like the perfect setting. The property is gorgeous--an Italianate gem tucked into the Texas Hill Country, with a sense of escape while still convenient to Austin. And then there is Ashley Quarles, Director. Honestly: How in the world is Ashley everywhere, and does she ever sleep? She was there when I checked in. She was there at the spa. When something needed attention, she was there. When I had a question or offered feedback, she was there--and genuinely wanted to hear it. After 20+ years in this industry, I recognize the difference between someone doing a job and someone taking ownership of the guest experience. Ashley takes ownership. She is warm, gracious, professional, responsive and remarkably receptive. Nothing seemed to be "someone else's department." If it affected a guest, she cared. I don't say this lightly: Ashley Quarles is a significant reason Hotel Viata operates at the level it does. Beautiful properties can be built. Genuine hospitality comes from people. The pool was a highlight. It is secluded, peaceful and exceptionally maintained. Every chaise lounge and piece of outdoor furniture was beautifully cared for, with plentiful, beautifully presented towels. I've stayed at five- and six-star properties where pool furnishings weren't maintained this well. Someone here is paying attention. I also loved the live DJ poolside. Rather than generic piped-in music, an actual DJ quietly and discreetly created the atmosphere. The music enhanced the experience without interfering with conversation--sophisticated, relaxed and beautifully done. Gabe, the pool and lounge/bar manager, was fantastic. He was present, knowledgeable, personable and refreshingly candid. He listened to what we liked and recommended what he genuinely thought we would enjoy--even steering us away from something he didn't think was right for us. That is anticipatory service rather than simply taking an order. The spa is where I saw the greatest opportunity for refinement. It is intimate and boutique, but luxury spa hospitality begins before the treatment. Janel wasn't escorted to her locker or provided spa footwear, and her heated massage table wasn't functioning properly and was actually cool, requiring her to request another blanket. These things didn't ruin the experience; they are opportunities. It's those seemingly small details that transform a good massage into an exceptional luxury spa experience. I shared them with Ashley, who listened without defensiveness and genuinely wanted to know. I left believing she would actually do something with the feedback. Dinner was fantastic--quality ingredients, beautiful preparation and presentation. And Luis was magnificent. He is a true mixologist who understands his craft and can explain the ingredients and thought behind his creations. More importantly, he understands anticipatory service. He listened to what we were looking for and essentially said, "Let me show you what I think you'll love." He was right. Our room was beautiful, with exceptionally comfortable beds, wonderful linens and a luxurious sense of space. We did have a temperamental telephone and a toilet that wasn't functioning quite properly. There were also small arrival-service inconsistencies involving assistance to the room and obtaining ice. These should be addressed, but they didn't define our stay. After two decades in hospitality, I've learned: No property is perfect. What matters is what happens when something isn't perfect. Hotel Viata already has the difficult pieces--a gorgeous property, beautiful rooms, excellent food, an exceptionally maintained pool and people who care. The smaller inconsistencies can be fixed. Gabe demonstrated genuine hospitality at the pool. Luis demonstrated it at dinner. And Ashley Quarles demonstrated it everywhere. Janel and I came to relax, reconnect and dream about where her next adventures might take her. We left thoroughly enjoying Hotel Viata and appreciating the people who took care of us. Beautiful hotels are easy to find. Beautiful hotels filled with people who genuinely understand hospitality are much rarer. Hotel Viata has those people. read more

If you are just looking for a nice getaway, this is the place for you. The best part of this hotel for a summer visit is the pool bar. It's a very laid-back and fun place to spend the day. The rooms are nice, and the hotel has unique décor and a cool vibe. It's a fun place to stay for a couple of days. ***The beds - not so good. They are very firm and not comfortable at all.*** There is nothing within walking distance of this hotel, except for the Apple Computer offices that share the same parking lot. The customer service is good and on point. The restaurant is ok, but the food is nothing special. They have 4 or 5 regional craft beers, but nothing on tap. Parking is free and is in a covered garage. The room included a complimentary bottle of wine, free bottled water, a mini fridge, and a microwave. read more

A friend and I had the most amazing massage treatments at Spa Viata in Westlake Hills recently. Erica's greeting at the reception desk was welcoming and friendly and she was kind to accommodate our needs for the day. I was lucky that Brooke was available to do the Seasonal Foot Revival, her warmth and experience were so appreciated and after a discussion of my distress she concentrated on the problem areas in my joints and calves, did a deep tissue "sparkling bubbles" manipulation and even finished the treatment with an oil massaged into my toes to help relieve stiffness. We had a great lunch in the on-site restaurant, compliments to the chef, and particularly enjoyed the burrata and peach salad. Then we took some time in the pool. Hotel Viata is located in the beautiful West Lake Hills area of Austin. Scenic little entrance and location, providing a nice hilltop view. First time really being in the West Lake Hills area and found it quite lovely. I came here for a Yelp Elite event, and enjoyed the physical location and scenery of the hotel. The hotel bar, and restaurant, has a cute Italian typed them. Very intimate-type feeling. The outside patio outside the restaurant/bar had plenty of seating and a nice fireplace. I didn't stay the night but definitely enjoyed the experience of the hotel from the event. read more

A great stay that's off the busy path in Austin! We liked how the hotel is away from the roads and requires a little driving path to get up to. It's a small check-in area and quiet atmosphere, great for a getaway. Nothing over the top or outstanding and also no problems, right in the middle for a peaceful hotel stay. Rooms were cleaned daily and the staff was always friendly. On our first night there was a loud wedding reception late into the night but we weren't too bothered by it. I was gifted a voucher (lucky me) which included the resort fee AND a fifty dollar credit! There is valet parking for a fee but also free parking in the parking garage next door. The lobby is tiny. There is a check in desk attached to a gift shop/ place to get snacks. The main lobby has two chairs and a couch where I sat with a glass of wine and did some amazing people watching. There was a function happening and everyone was in costumes. It was fun to watch! The bar isn't huge but it's comfortable. There are about 10 or so barstools and 5-6 tables that are both regular tables and tables with little couches. I didn't feel like sitting at the bar alone so I sat in the lobby. There is a restaurant (Laurel) attached to the bar. I didn't eat there but I did order a pizza later on in the evening. The pizza was good but I wish it had been warmer. Upon arrival there was a complimentary bottle of wine in my room. I don't know if that is every room/booking or not. The pool, spa, and gym are all on the second floor. I didn't use the gym but it looked decent. It even had two peloton bikes! The pool is lovely. There are cabanas to rent and many lounge chairs with comfy cushions and umbrellas. There is a bar (not swim up) and tables under a covered area. I went for a late night swim and the temp of the water was perfect. The pool is open until 10. There are towels available poolside. The shower was great. There are plenty of towels but beware the tiles in the bathroom get a bit slick when wet. There is a nice little coffee area when you first walk in the room. There was a small desk, chair and a large dresser with TV on top of that. The bed was very comfortable. I'm a teacher and booked this on a Friday. Needless to say, I was asleep by around 1030 and slept about 11 hours. The curtains got the room super dark! I did wake up around my normal body clock time but why get out of bed when it's so great! The only part I was missing was a place to walk outside. It's located on a hill next to the Apple building. There aren't any real places to take a stroll if you wanted to stretch your legs. Overall, I would stay here again. The people were friendly and the accommodations were very nice. Can I afford coming here on a regular basis on a teacher's salary? Probably not but I did enjoy it while I was there! read more

This was a disappointing stay. The hotel and room were nice but the staff was invisible. The room was not cleaned well before I arrived. The Keurig was covered in dust and when I made my first cup of coffee, it overflowed. The towel I used to clean it up remained there throughout my stay. The safe door was open, and there was a dirty Q-tip inside. I wondered if the hotel is going through a bad time or if my experience was a function of an off-season visit. Isabella, who was at the front desk is consistently helpful. The valets are excellent. Other staff seemed disengaged. When I called for assistance, the line was typically busy. read more

This hotel was a disappointment. Since our arrival, the shades for the window in the bathroom that faces the street didn't work and had to be replaced. The hand soap dispenser in the bathroom didn't work and had to be replaced as well. The kitchen in the suite had no silverware and no plates. We also selected an option in their website for late checkout at 4pm, and on the day of checkout they told us they couldn't accommodate because they had a wedding. There are much better hotels to stay in Austin. read more

Horrible experience. My room was paid by the company. The Monday I check-in, I already communicate with the front desk any left my personal credit card because I have a teenager daughter traveling with me. I told the front desk I need my daughter to be able to purchase food or even use SPA service and charge to the room. They took my credit card and promise that could be done. On Tuesday evening, we ate at the downstair restaurant and charge to the room. Later on after we came back to the room, a guy from front desk called and mumbling about we should not charge to the room because it's a company paid room. I explained to him that there was a personal card in the system for the purpose to charge to the room because I have a teenager daughter stay alone in the hotel while I am in company training. For 5 minutes, he kept saying it should not be done this way and search the system, he finally found the card and said it would be taken care of. So I asked him again if my daughter can charge to the room from now and he said "yes". On Thursday night, we ate at downstairs restaurant again and was told I can't charge to the room again because it's a company paid room. I was frustrated and paid with my credit card instead. The Friday morning when I checked out, I told the front desk my complaint, all they said was " it's our system show your room is company paid" I was extremely furious because I took proactive action to put a personal card in and got promise multiple time that I can charge to the room. All these communication and efforts are useless. No one get this from the system. Even all staff were very nice but my daughter was trapped in the room snacking whole day. She did not want to go down to eat lunch in the restaurant because she worried that she would embarrass herself for not able to pay it. read more

Our stay was great. The bed was comfortable and the shower was strong. Beautiful pool area. Unfortunately, too cold to swim. The wife really enjoyed the spa. Lobby bar is very nice, although a little pricey. Exercise room was big and equipment was in good shape . Great place to hold business retreats. Service was also top notch. Parking garage is shared with Apple office next door, and it appears that self parking is only available from 6 pm to 9 am. I would recommend this to anyone who is wanting to avoid the congestion of downtown Austin. Convenient to business in West Lake, but a car is necessary. read more

Parisa at the front desk was super sweet from the beginning. Loved the surprise complimentary bottle of wine waiting for us. I absolutely enjoyed my two week stay at Hotel Granduca. I was welcomed with a bottle of red wine in my room, who can complain about that? Everything was beautiful and clean. The housekeeping team made sure my room was neat and reset everyday. Fresh towels and glassware were always available. I visited the bar and the restaurant during my stay and both were lovely. Their specialty drink menu is limited but the drinks are great. I had a martini with pickle juice, olives, lime juice and mezcal that blew my mind. The staff was friendly and helpful. Everyone I interacted with was great! Big shout out to the valet guys who went out of their way to help me with my luggage. If I ever visit Austin again I'll make sure to stay here again. read more

let's start with check in: The 2 couples in front of me "looked" like they belonged there got a nice long run down on where and what everything is. I got up the only Hispanic at that time and all I got was "your room..." I asked for a rundown on everything since it was our first time there all MATHEW said was "here this paper tells you everything." it was a paper with things to do in Austin nothing about the hotel. Room: We settled in and I always check the bed first for bugs. NO BUGS but there was red/orange stains on the blanket and sheet. blankets were extremely hard luck we brought our blanket from home. Pool: not what the pictures looked like Oh also was told through Airbnb there would be a hotel fee of $42.50 for check in Deposit. They ended up charging us $145 and said Airbnb didn't update that info! read more

We had the pleasure of spending 4th of July at this Hotel Viata location, and deapite the heavy rains and cancelled fireworks we had a really good time. All of the staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful. The hamburger, pizza and the lemon drops during Viata Hour were all good...actually the lemon drops were GREAT!! We were in room 619, which is roomy, clean and well appointed. We took off one star because the mattress in the room was HARD, and they allow dogs EVERYWHERE, even while you're seated inside eating, dogs are allowed to be right next to you. But, overall a very good hotel. read more

Loved the blue tooth speaker feature. Keurig in the room. The staff was also very nice and moved quickly. Cons: The only reason I am giving 4 stars is because of the really foul odor that was in the bathroom area. It wasn't throughout the entire room thankfully. It smelled like sewage backup. Also my first night the metal cover that covers the air filter fell and almost gave me a heart attack, but I called down to the front and they sent someone immediately and gave me a credit for the inconvenience. Laurel Restaurant: My first meal (chicken and waffles) was not the best. The next day I did their omelette and it was really good. Would I stay again: Absolutely! I was very disappointed with my recent stay in Austin. 1st- I was told on the phone I would have a high-floor room. Of course, staying in the Texas hill country, you want a room with a view. To my disappointment, we were placed on the 2nd floor, with no view except the office building across the street. I was told we could upgrade rooms for an additional fee to a room with a view. I refused. 2nd- We ate breakfast in the on-site restaurant. $62 for breakfast is a little ridiculous I think. Not to mention my wife ordered a very simple plate, eggs, bacon, sausage and toast. I only ordered 2 sides, sausage and toast. 1 coffee and one Coca-Cola, and yes $62 3rd. We received a text while there on a Saturday, "Complimentary cookies and homemade lemonade in the lobby from 4-6 PM. We went to the lobby at 5 PM. There were no more cookies, and the lemonade was hot. I asked when more cookies would be brought out, and was told by the front desk, the cookies are all gone, and there would be no more. In my opinion, they should have said "first-come, first-served". Not made it sound like there would be cookies available from 4-6. I was told by another guest that they only put out like a dozen cookies. Give me a break. 12 cookies for an entire hotel? 4th- The day of our departure, my wife wanted coffee, and I had noticed complimentary coffee at the bar. So she took advantage of something else that was supposed to be complementary, and of course, the coffee was cold at 10:30 AM. This was my second visit to the hotel, and more than likely my last! read more

My husband, pup and I went for a night staycation at Hotel Granduca just after Thanksgiving. We decided to stay in the Granduca Suite because of the large tub and living room. What we loved: - Pet friendly and great dog menu. Our dog inhaled the homemade dog food. - The bar and restaurant. Thanks, Iggy, for the delicious cocktails! And for letting us try a free Bellini. Food was excellent. The live music was great as well. - Free bottle of wine in room. - Soaking tub. What needs serious improvement: - The window in our room was opened when we checked in and we didn't realize it until later because the curtains were closed. Glad we caught it when we did. - One of the bath robes in our room was stained (see picture) - The heat was not working in our living room. We called down for maintenance in the evening, but it wasn't fixed. It was blowing cold air, so we could enjoy our suite because it was quite cold. - Couldn't get ahold of room service. Called 5x. Ended up going down stairs to order dessert to go. This was apparently when the maintenance person went to check on our room, but again, the issue wasn't resolved. - Many of the wine glasses in our room were not clean. - At breakfast, received a coffee stained cup, though they did take my tea off the bill. Overall we wouldn't spend the money to stay again. For a four star hotel, the communication and details were seriously lacking. read more

We loved the upgrade which had a kitchen and living room. We received a complimentary bottle of Red Wine which was delish and perfect for our girls night. The views are perfect out to the greenery and golden hour by the pool is beautiful and peaceful. The style is very Tuscan. I cannot say enough good things about Hotel Viata Austin (Bee Cave)! Previously named Hotel Granduca. It is a hidden gem and our go to for a relaxing getaway. We go there two to three times a year and Chris at the front desk, always remembers us. He goes out of his way to welcome us and make us feel like family. The service throughout the hotel is exceptional, as well. Everyone is so friendly and helpful! The hotel is on the side of hill and very private, yet it is only 9 miles from downtown Austin, 7 miles to Lake Austin, and 15 miles to Lake Travis! They have a great spa, a wonderful restaurant, comfortable rooms, private pool, and live music on most weekends. Another plus is that they have free valet and a free parking garage. read more

We had such a wonderful stay here. I'm currently 8 months pregnant so I'm very picky about beds, comfort, and overall quality. I had no complaints. Spacious room, spacious, shower, clean, coffee both in the room and complimentary coffee (which actually tastes good!) in the lobby in the morning, and very friendly staff. The pool is heated and we actually took a swim during a weekend that was 50-60 degrees in the air. Then went into the hot tub. Also very clean. Robes are provided in your room and due to the chilly weather they definitely came in handy to wear to the pool. Next time we might check out their personal spa services and the restaurant. Stayed there over president's day weekend 2026. We've stayed there before. Unfortunately, this stay was very disappointing. It started with the door bellman. I guess because we were self parking, he wasn't willing to assist me with bags. I had two wheeled suitcases and a hanging bag. I had to ask him to open the door which he did reluctantly. In trying to checking in, the clerk said that my name wasn't on the reservation. I responded by saying that it was probably in my husband's name, telling her that he was parking our car, and giving her his name Her response was "mam I don't know your husband's name and your name is not on the reservation" - and then she walked off. I waited patiently for my husband. Finally, while the room coffee offered is nice (Nespresso), the valet was only stocked with enough coffee for one cup each. On a positive note, the bartender was absolutely fantastic. He was personable and accommodating. Very much enjoyed visiting with him. He's the only reason I didn't give them a 2-star rating. read more

We came here in October for our wedding/honeymoon. And honestly? You can skip it. The staff were rude and they double charged me. Thank god my bank flagged the second charge as fraudulent, but when I brought it up to the front desk staff they took the worst attitude with me over it and then hung up on me. The beds were mid, and the service in their restaurant is slow and sub par. And their "amenities" were far too expensive to be worth it. I was incredibly disappointed with my stay here, especially after so many people recommended it. Save your money and stay somewhere else. read more

I stay here very often. Chris at the front desk is amazing. He sees me walk thru the door and has checked me in and my key card is ready by the time I get to the desk. When he's not there - I get a sense of disappointment. One of the best employees I have encountered in any business. Viata better find a way to keep him here. Always upbeat - unwavering. I now work in the area and pass Hotel Viata every day on my way to and from work. It looks beautiful so I decided to check out its website. The website alone tamped down my initial excitement. It's wonky. The grammar is horrendous. There are misspelled words (macarnoons???). And there's still a reference to Hotel Granduca, which I have never heard of before. And West Lake Hills is NOT the Hill Country. It may seem absurd to some, but a business's website is their initial introduction to the world. To not do a basic spell check, grammar check, and multiple read throughs by multiple people is abominable. If this is their level of professionalism and pride, I can only imagine what it would be like to stay there. I may consider a visit, but only if they pay me to redo their website. They should be embarrassed. read more

I have been staying here for business on a weekly basis for about 6 months. That's long enough to get a pretty good idea of how things work. The hotel isn't really focused on business travelers, which is why it gets 4 stars for my needs. If you want an absolutely beautiful place to stay for a few days or a long weekend this is the place to go. I had some issues with the front desk staff on a few occasions but they have improved dramatically over the last few months. What keeps me coming back is the staff. Particularly Troy the bartender who goes above and beyond regularly to make sure everyone is well taken care of. I've stayed over 2,000 nights in Hiltons and Marriott chains in my career and I've never seen anyone better. The pool, spa, and restaurant are all good as well. read more

Overplayed sense of opulence. It is a property that thinks more highly of what they are than reality. Big wooden doors that pretend to be from a bygone European era but are just faux. Over stuffed chairs in the lobby and sitting rooms that would look more at home in a high fashion Tuscan style home from the early 2000s than in a hotel. We stayed on a winter special rate of 218.00 and I just felt cheated considering how much of the experience feels forced. This place has a normal rate in the mid $300 range. The bathroom in the room are the highlight in spite of the wrought iron fixtures that just look cheap. The tile shower is first rate but they should put in high end shower heads. Cheap Kholer crap rather than Rainshower heads that the room deserves. The beds are too soft but have excellent linens. The staff was super friendly and tried so hard to be helpful that it was annoying. Who walks with guests over to the elevator? We were pounced on anytime we entered the lobby to see if we needed something. It just all felt a bit staged, stiff and forced. I prefer a high end hotel to be more relaxed and comfortable when tending to the needs of the guests. I guess the owners are just waiting on the cash cow called Apple which opens in a few months in the gleaming high tech building next door. The whole experience just felt out of phase. Next time give me a Westin or The W. They have it nailed for what a luxury hotel should be. read more
