We booked this hotel due to it's location in Rome. After booking, I received a couple of emails from the hotel, not just confirming my booking, but also regarding a cab to/from the airport, asking about dietary requests, and help with any tour bookings. While we were all set on tour bookings, after discussing it, my husband and I decided to just book a cab instead of trying to navigate the subway system, with luggage after coming off an 8+ hour flight. We decided to book through the hotel vs trying to find a cab when we got outside. The hotel did make it clear it could be cash or credit, but I wish they had clarified it must be in Euros for cash.
Either way, the cab situation was perfectly set up. We deboarded, went through customs, collected our bags, and our driver was waiting for us. He directed us to his very comfortable mercedes and while he spoke limited english, was very pleasant to chat with. He dropped us off in front of the hotel, and the aforementioned small issue with, we had cash, but had not changed to euros yet. Luckily for us, he was able to whip our a credit card device and able to use that. Since the hotel had all our flight information, our room was already ready early at noon. The staff was very helpful and pleasant.
Even though I had booked a double bed, we were given a triple room. The beds were a little harder than we are used to (and I like a firm mattress), but we realized this is kind of standard in Italy. I loved that we had a small balcony. The main comments I have are, there was no type of shelving in the shower to put our toiletries. Which meant we had to put them on the floor of the shower in a narrow shower. Also, the shower closet had some unused space behind it where they could have expended the shower. The other comment is regarding the key. I liked that there was a light on, so staff could tell if you were in your room or not. I think that the energy efficient keys, where you have to insert them to turn on anything in the room are a fantastic idea, and wish the US would adopt this this. However, I do wish the hotel had at least offered us two keys when we checked in, as you need a key to access the common lounge, the breakfast area, etc. Not such a big deal, but I do wish the computer printer in the lounge had a printer next to it, however the front desk had our prints outs (tickets) neatly arranged and handed it to us the second we came down to collect it.
The staff was also nice and helpful. Breakfast was good. The hotel is in a very central location, in walking distance to many of the sights. It was about an easy seven minute walk to Roma Termini station. read more
