We didn't rent a car so I can't comment on parking, but everything you want to see, like the Colosseum, is just a short walk from the hotel or you can take a cab. The staff were wonderful with helpful suggestions from the front desk to the amazing breakfast buffet staff that always gave us a very warm "buongiorno" when we came in. After a few days the server didn't need to ask anymore he just brought me a cappuccino when I sat down. That is probably the biggest breakfast buffets I have ever seen. The two pictures don't fully capture it all. I really liked this hotel and would be back if I am ever in Rome again.

The room was clean and modern with a fully stocked, complimentary mini bar. Loved the bathroom, the bar upstairs and the breakfast buffet and coffee with Salvatore was a great start to each day. The downstairs spa was a bit small, but enjoyable nonetheless, with steam room, sauna, and simple hydrotherapy stations. All in all this was the best accommodations we had our entire 10 day trip throughout Italy. Will gladly stay here again! The staff, service, location, amenities and facility were all stellar!

This hotel was chosen as the place to stay one day prior to a cruise. While I have experienced…read moreplaces that I rate higher, this was not at all a terrible choice. I arrived about 8am and check-in isn't until 3 p.m. Beatrice was the person to assist me - she verified my travel documents, briefed me on the hotel amenities, explained the shuttle, put my luggage in the luggage room, looked to have my room expedited and let me know where I could wait. At noon my room was ready and I received a key. One of Beatrice's counterparts, whom I shall not name, wasn't as pleasant to work with. Their demeanor wasn't as helpful or pleasant. My roommate felt the same. We had to request a second key only to later discover the 2 keys were deactivated (I presume accidentally), after we were exhausted from a day of exploring. However, a third person assisted with correcting this issue. The hotel is about 20 minutes from the airport but I believe that my driver made it in about 15 minutes. It has a restaurant on-site for lunch and dinner and also a breakfast buffet which offers a 2-option buffet breakfast. There is a swimming pool, a small gift Shop which also sells passes for attractions and a shuttle that has 3 stops: the city center, The Coliseum and Vatican City. It is also host to a Conference Center. The overall decore is simple and elegant. There are lots of places to lounge which is great for socializing. I imagine that it was absolutely gorgeous when things were new and shiny, however, the current "aging" and ambiance gives it an old charm feel. The buffet breakfast is either Italian style - pastries, yogurt, cereal, toast, etc. or American style - includes the Italian options plus bacon, sausage, 3 styles of cooked eggs, pancakes, cheeses, smoked salmon, salad, fresh fruit, etc. And of course there are coffees, juices and water. The buffet is 7am to 11am and can be included with your reservation. Otherwise, the Italian style is 12 euros pp and the American style is 20 euros pp; this can be charged to your room or via credit card at the hostess counter. I found the menu to have a good selection and variety. Gvansta was working the days that I was here - she is nice and very patient especially when eager guests flooded the counter for check in. She remembered guests as they returned for subsequent dining. The remaining staff that helped with tables, bringing coffees, etc. were all very pleasant. The room itself was ok. The temperature was too cold for our liking. My efforts to adjust the heat and have house keeping assist didn't work out as we had hoped. Eventually, we settled with just turning it off completely. If the stay was longer, I probably would have sought additional assistance from the front desk. The room itself is modest with the basics and has a covered balcony adorned with 2 chairs and a table. The view was okay, mostly beautifully green grass and trees with buildings in the background. The bathroom is spacious. Overall I didn't find the place to be glamorous yet it has sufficient amenities, reasonable accommodations, mostly a good staff. It is airport accessible and the low-cost shuttle makes it attraction accessible. For a brief stay pre-cruise it met expectations and I would consider staying again under similar circumstances.

By Rome standards for a full-service hotel, it would be considered affordable by many. But just to be clear, it is not ultra-inexpensive. For the money, it is firmly in the 4-star hotel genre (getting a 5-star Yelp rating from me within this category because I could find nothing wrong with it during my stay). So, while it may not have crystal chandeliers and butlers running around, it is definitely not a student tourist level hostel. It has modern, comfortable public spaces, elevators that hold more than 2 people at a time, a restaurant with a good breakfast spread, and well-appointed guest rooms with modern amenities and AC. I really don't need more than that when I am traveling solo for business so it was perfect for me given that set of circumstances. As a comparison, I have stayed at a 5-star Rome hotel which was absolutely a step up in terms of service, luxury features, and a sense of a personal attention. But when I am alone on business, that level of service is not necessary and can feel uncomfortable to me. There are plenty of cafe's and restaurants within a 10 min walk and it is a reasonable walk to attractions such as the Opera House, the Coliseum, and the Trevi Fountain. It is also a 10-minute walk to the main terminal Rome train station and the cool, local Nuovo Mercato Esquilino if you are into that type of thing like I am. I spent early mornings walking somewhere for coffee and then through the Mercato to watch the vendors work to ready their produce and meat to be pawed over by early restauranteurs which was a cool look at the underbelly life of this great city. I really liked that this hotel is not right up against the busy street and, on at least 2 sides of the building, there are streets that are not constantly jammed with the noise of traffic. My room fronted one of the quiet sides. It is unclear to me if I was upgraded to a nicer than standard room location because of my Hilton loyalty status but I had a very quiet stay in a room that was impeccably clean and could be easily darked out during the day if I needed a restorative nap for my jet lag. The gym was reasonably appointed and open 24/7 and the wi-fi speed was top notch. I had a great stay here for the money. Based on all of this, when in Rome in the future as a solo business traveler, I would be very happy to stay here again.

That made the location extremely convenient. The hotel sits a short walk from Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, where Pope Francis is buried. Some areas near the main train station are often described as unsafe by Italian standards. We did not experience that near the hotel. Tourists and locals were out late, and the neighborhood stayed active into the evening. Rome is compact and easy to navigate. Most major attractions felt reachable within about 20 minutes by taxi, bus, or rail. We tried to visit the Trevi Fountain at 10:00 pm to avoid crowds. That plan failed completely(see pic). It was packed. Locals eat later than in the U.S., and many parts of the city stay busy well into the night. Restaurants remain open late. A note for U.S. travelers. European hotel rooms run smaller for the price. Even using Hilton points, our room would have cost close to $700 per night USD and felt small. The hotel offers a pleasant rooftop bar and a spacious lobby with multiple seating areas. The buffet breakfast was a solid, comfortable way to start the day. It was included for us as Hilton Diamond members. I am unsure of the cash price. Overall, the location and amenities make this a smart pre-cruise choice, especially for travelers relying on rail connections.

While the rooms might be considered on the smaller side, they were clean, comfortable, and had great bathrooms. Each one also had its own AC unit, meaning we could sleep comfortably at our chosen temperature that evening. While the hotel is a little ways away from downtown Rome, calling a taxi was very easy. My group wanted to go to the Vatican City early, and when we told the staff at the reception that morning to call a taxi, someone was there within 5 minutes to pick us up. It could not have been easier. I cannot speak to the hotel bar, but the breakfast was amazing. The room is rather small, but since the hotel is small it never truly filled up, and the options were plenty. Anything you wanted for breakfast they probably had, and it all was fantastic! I have nothing to complain about in regards to our stay here. The hotel is great if you're looking for something comfortable for your trip to Rome.

It is very far from the attractions in Rome. The breakfast was decent, and MOST of the staff were friendly. My room was clean aside from the carpet... My friends also stated that the carpet in their room was not very nice. The shower head in the bathroom was also very difficult. I guess this is a standard in Europe. The shower head is not very stable. I would suggest taking the shower head off before turning the water on. If I ever travel to Rome on my own, I probably wouldn't stay here again due to the distance from the sights.

All the names were misspelled on the folio. All the information is passed on to them from hotels(.)com and it's amazing how they managed to screw that up. The safe was locked when I checked and wasn't fixed for the first 2 of my 4 day stay and had to lug around all of my stuff around Rome. After 5-6 requests, and a screaming session in the lobby on the 3rd day it was finally addressed. Now on to the plumbing, it didn't work for the first two days and they kept telling me that a technician will be coming to look at it. On the third day, one of staff finally came and showed me how to take cover off the flushing mechanism, and push the levers to activate the flush. When I told him to leave the cover off since it wouldn't work any other way, his response was, "We don't want our customers to use the toilet this way." Really. How else am I supposed to use it? It was finally fixed on the last night. There were numerous instances where we were completely ignored while waiting in line at the concierge and they would consistently address caucasian people behind us. I picked Melia because I have stayed at their other properties and have always had an excellent time, but this experience has seriously tainted any future business with Melia. There are a lot of other places where I can spend my hard earned money.

The room is impressively large with a huge bathroom. We had a plush king sized bed with cozy down bedding. The thick beautiful curtains ensured that the room was perfectly dark for great sleep even if we wanted a mid day nap. There was a lovely little balcony with a view of the courtyard. With the curtains open the natural light is perfect. The bed was comfortable and we Sisto very nicely here. The bathroom is very big with a walk in shower and bidet with all toiletries needed to have a comfortable stay. I will say I was a bit bummed that the tile warmer was not functional but the hotel was very kind offering anything to make sure that we were happy. This was not a problem and we stayed in this room as warming towels us a perk but not a requirement. I would also note that the building is quite old and the bathroom had a metallic smell perhaps from the pipes of older plumbing but it was fine as long as we kept the bathroom door closed. I think the hotel was really concerned that we were upset but we absolutely were not just keep in mind this building is antique and if you are coming from the US where everything is new and not used to a potential aroma of antiquity be prepared to experience a true European city and do not complain. All details are thought of here including mini bar, clothes steamer, hair dryer, toiletries and a welcome gift. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. They are always ensuring that we were comfortable and happy. We absolutely loved our stay here. The hotel is a special place and experience. The nostalgia of standing and staying where the Romans once stood 2000 years ago was definitely a treat! The hotel has a rooftop terrace where we enjoyed breakfast in the mornings and wine in the evening. The lounge just inside of the terrace is cozy and comfortable to enjoy a glass of wine or cocktail in the evening and there's a cozy fireplace to warm up, which we took full advantage of after a long wet rainy day in the colosseum and Roman forum. We had a great stay here and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a special Roman experience. We will definitely be back!
