Taking in the sights that Rome, Italy has to offer. iQ Hotel Roma fit my needs. About a 7 minute walk to the train station. Conveniently located to most tourist spots. Most things are close enough to walk. The room was small but clean. As a solo traveler it met my needs. They provide water, safe and mini fridge. Also,there's a nice rooftop terrace with hot tub. Included in the stay was use of a small, fitness center (some cardio machines and free weights) and a hot/steam room. The bathroom was small but clean. The staff was friendly and courteous. iQ Hotel Roma is hands down the best hotel that we stayed at during our three weeks in Europe! The hospitality and various staff are friendly and an incredibly hardworking team. Each staff person that we encountered was always pleasant and made us feel welcome. The hotel is newer and by European standards the room is a decent size. Our room, 407, had a nice balcony, a wardrobe, desk and a mini fridge which was stocked daily. All items stocked in the fridge are included. They gave two bottles of water and two bottles of sparkling each day. Other amenities included a sauna on the 4th floor, a gym, self-service laundry, rooftop patio with a hot tub, full bar and restaurant among others. The breakfast was also the best that we encountered during our travels. A full breakfast is offered which includes a large variety of fresh fruits, pastries, cereals, vegetables, meats, cheeses, potatoes, rice and much more. The options were endless. The location is great. We were five minutes, in either direction, of a subway station. Termini is a 7 - 8 minute walk. There is a grocery store one block away and several restaurants nearby. Our accomodations were pristine with above average cleanliness. The beds were also comfortable. Very good. Would not hesitate to stay at iQ Hotel Roma again when in Rome. read more

Staff was not only very kind and friendly, they go above and beyond to not only maintain the establishment but to also make you feel very welcome here. They all work really hard to maintain a super clean and organized. You can book a driver to take you to the airport but like the other reviews have already mentioned, the hotel is close to the train and bus station. Commuting around Italy is very easy. GREAT location in Rome & very welcoming/helpful staff. This hotel is walking distance to several restaurants, the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps, and an easy taxi ride to both the Colosseum and Vatican. The hotel allowed us to check in early, upgraded us to a bigger room with more amenities (VIP Expedia customer), and was very helpful with food suggestions. Rooms were a little small for the price (even with the upgrade) but were clean. I was really satisfied with the breakfast inside the hotel- wide variety included over medium eggs, bacon, mixer Ella, French toast, prosciutto, toast, fresh squeezed orange juice. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here at the iQ Roma Hotel. Everything about this hotel is modern and clean. They provide access to a lot of amenities to its guest. For example, they got a gym area with a sauna (few weights, two treadmills, two stationary bikes and what looks to be like an eliptical machine). They've also got a rooftop terrace area with lawn chairs to relax after a long day walking on those cobble stoned streets of Roma. Oh, and then there's the breakfast. It was include with our room, but otherwise it's about 10 euros for breakfast. They've got eggs, sausages, croissants and all kinda of breakfast drinks from which you can choose from. A pretty good spread if you asked me. All the food was really fresh and surprisingly tasty. Location wise, I liked how it was close to the train station. It was also close to Metro which was definitely a plus. It is also about a 15 to 20 minute walk to the Trevi Fountain and another 10 minute walk from the Fountains to the Pantheon. So on a good day, the walk is not too bad at all. All the staff were all friendly and courteous. After having stops in Paris and Venice where the hotels were ran differently than what were accustomed to, it was nice to end our trip here where it was more to our comfort level. If we ever come back to Roma, iQ hotel will definitely be on the top of the list of hotels we'd consider. read more

Our window opened to a view of the Opera House across the street. Roof top terrace (wish it had a view) but it was a nice bonus. Free gym and sauna, in case you haven't walked around Rome enough. Love the weird art. Couldn't get enough of the wine/beer/coffee vending machines. We didn't try their breakfast. Our only complaint was the coin operated dryer did not work properly, so after doing a load of wash, we had damp clothes decorating our hotel room for a day. 5-10 minute taxi ride from the train station. We had a wonderful two night stay prior to our cruise. We used their recommended transportation from the airport which was flawless and reasonably priced. The hotel is extremly well maintained and clean. The front desk was very helpful with directions as well as coordinating taxis for us. The room was very spacious. It was such a help to have the mini bar stocked with water and other drinks at no charge. There is a very nice hot tub my husband used. The breakfast that the iQ Hotel Roma provides is outstanding and the service in the breakfast room was very friendly. As an American, I found it charming that I could purchase a very reasonably priced bottle of good wine from one of the vending machines. We would definitely stay here upon our next visit to beautiful Rome. read more

Very accommodating hotel with an awesome location! This hotel is situated a short walk from the Rome Termini station which made traveling to and from airports very easy. I suggest Airport Buses/shuttles for CIA airport traveling to/from Termini or the direct airport train to/from FCO (the larger airport in Rome). While private cars and taxis are available to get to this hotel, I found the above-mentioned means of transportation much more economical and extremely convenient (as long as you can deal with about a 5 minute walk from Termini Station). In addition this hotel is a short walk to the colosseum and the trevi fountain. Staff was very friendly and the daily breakfast buffet on the 5th floor of the hotel was worthwhile (large selection of food and convenient). read more

I would absolutely recommend this hotel, and I would definitely stay here again. The rooms were very simple, but also very clean. There were only two tv stations that were in English, but we didn't spend enough time in our room to matter. The location is in walking distance to the Coliseum, Vatican City, Trevi Fountain, and other attractions. We were amongst the locals, which was great, it's not in a chunk of tourist hotels. There are a ton of great restaurants nearby, but there is also one on the fifth floor at the IQ. We slept comfortably the nights we stayed and the rooms were clean. The guys at the front counter, however, are amazing! They were fun to joke around with, they were helpful with directions and locations of places we were looking for, and they were fun to talk to. Small room ( not surprising in Europe, i assume) but clean and has everything you need. 1 queen bed, spacious closet with a safe, huge mirror, new and renovated bathroom, AC, extra blanket, elevator, laundry service, gym and card entry from main entrance and each floor too. We felt safe and cleaning service was very pleasant. I was more worried about elevator as I heard not all buildings have elevator in Italy ( or Europe for that matter). Overall, the whole building was new and close to the Roma Termini train station which was very convenient to ride straight from and to the airport. This was close to Caffe Washington restaurant which opens from breakfast to dinner time without closing so very nice for Americans like us who are used to with good portion of breakfast and early dinner like 6-7pm. I could not function with supposedly Italian style breakfast which is Espresso and croissant and could not wait until 7-8pm for most restaurants to open for dinner. So this restaurant saved me and my husband throughout the trip. And it was literally 3min walk from the hotel. read more

While in Rome I stayed at iQ Hotel, it's a newer hotel that is right across from the Opera House and easy to find. Check in was easy, front desk was friendly and helpful. The room was perfect, it was clean, the wifi was great, was able to stream movies, not that I was in the room for long and able to skype home with solid signal. The bed was comfortable too. There was a tea pot with some teas & coffee and some fizzy water for us to enjoy. The vending machine was stalked with items you might have forgotten or needed, I did wind up needing some band aids and boom the vending machine had them and it wasn't priced too high. Had an early fight out of Rome when it was time to leave and the train or bus didn't run that early, at the front desk they were able to arrange a private car to come at 4:30am to take us to the airport when needed. Made it easy breezy for us! When back in Rome I wouldn't mind staying at iQ again! read more

The plan for our Italy trip was to stay primarily in homes via AirBnB and just bookend the trip with stays in hotels. This was because in our experience, European hotels are usually cramped and old and not worth the money compared to renting an apartment. But I have to say, as soon as we checked in, weary from our long flight, into the iQ Hotel, I immediately wished we had stayed here the whole time we were in Rome. Sure, the room is small, but it's impeccably clean and welcoming. I can't express how wonderful it was to walk into the minimal yet updated room and freshen up after an international flight and crazy cab through the streets of Rome. What impressed me the most was the bathroom. I quickly realized during my travels that this was going to be the cleanest, most modern bathroom I'd have the pleasure of using. The bed is rock hard, but it was just the thing my sore back needed after my travel day! To top it all off, the front desk staff is friendly and helpful at every moment. And if you're like my husband and start having major cravings for American breakfast during a trip abroad, make sure to take advantage of their spread every morning. They have a rooftop type terrace garden with a vending machine for beers and drinks. My husband and I did extensive research for hotels in Rome, and we were more than pleased with iQ. Modern, sleek, air-conditioning, wi-fi, close to the main train station. Although navigating the streets of Rome was difficult at first, once we found the hotel, we didn't have any trouble finding and orienting ourselves after. Unlike many hotels in Italy, with just a sign posted outdoors and the number of stars they earned, iQ is inviting and always has front desk attendants in sight and ready to assist you. The rooms are decent sized and have large window doors facing the street or the courtyard. If not for the chain that's connected to each door, you can walk right out of your room and plumet to the street level. Breakfast wasn't included in our hotel reservation, so it cost 10 euros per person if you chose in the morning. It was worth it for us to start off with a meal from the comfort of our hotel. One of the better aspects was having a coffee machine to use, so I didn't feel bad having to order three cappuccinos. The vending machines provide cheap drinks (soda, water, wine, beer) and some snacks. And you can take these snacks on the rooftop terrace during all hours for your enjoyment. Before our stay, I was impressed with their responsiveness in helping me make dinner reservations at a few places. My only complaint was the wifi which requires a username and password for each device and is given by the front desk. It seems like you have to re-login each time you come back from standby or if you leave the room and come back. A small inconvenience, I know, and why they still deserve 5 stars. read more

Rome was our first stop on our Italian Vacation this past May and the entire experience was very pleasant. The hotel was great at communicating with me before we arrived in Rome and also helped us book our Vatican tour and make reservations at the Borghese Gallery. The staff was extremely professional and spoke English When we arrived our room was ready and we were very pleased with the modern accommodations and nice and clean room. The hotel is walking distance from the Trevi fountain and the Spanish steps. Everywhere else, we ended up taking a cab. We didn't miss having a full service restaurant as there are many places near by to grab a bite including a fruit and snack stand on the corner. We grabbed a banana for breakfast every morning!( We opted out of the breakfast as it was 10 euro extra a day). We loved the rooftop balcony and the vending machines. 50 cent coffee from the coffee vending machine and 3 Euro wine from the wine Vending machine. Very convenient. We were able to grab a beverage and relax on the roof while deciding what activity to do next. Music was always playing which allowed for a constant upbeat atmosphere. There was a laundry room with iron right on our floor so we were very excited abut that! Iron our clothes was very convenient. The staff is always available to recommend a restaurant or call a taxi as well. I felt the value was great for the price and if I return to Rome (Hopefully soon!) iQ Hotel Roma is the first and only hotel we've stayed at in Rome and we thought it was great. It's a short walk from the Termini station or you can take a taxi if you have luggage for about 7-8 Euro. We had a view facing the Opera house wall and we could see the ballet dancers practicing at night. It wasn't as loud as we thought it would be and slept comfortably through the night. There is a Carrefour Express nearby in case you need last minute goodies. Room: the rooms were clean and big enough for 2 people. We did upgrade to a larger bed and it was very comfortable, although probably taking up more space for our luggage. The bathroom was large/clean, but the shower was a bit cozy, but nothing to complain about. Amenities included everything, but slippers/toothbrush. I did appreciate that the AC was on as most hotels here only turn it on during the summer. The windows were floor to ceiling so you can only open it a few inches, otherwise it's pretty dangerous. Service: the staff felt very welcoming every time we left or returned to the hotel. We asked a lot for directions and suggestions and each time they were very helpful and patience. Stay here from Aug. 31 - Sept. 3 and the hotel location was awesome. The staff all around were really nice and accommodated to their customers very well. Our room consisted of a queen bed and a day bed and it was perfect for 3 people. The location is walking distance from everything (1-2.5 miles) from the Colosseum, Spanish Steps (shopping!), and Piazza de Trevi. There are also some shops around there where you can go shopping, eat some gelato and places to eat. The breakfast at the hotel was pretty good and for my friends and I, the selection was plenty. Great visit to Rome. This hotel is very close to the train station however, a little bit of a walk from the main sites. Don't let that stop you. This provides a quiet and restful stay away from the crowds. We did have a problem with our room which was quickly resolved and we were moved to a bigger room. First time to Europe - stayed in Florence first, then Rome. Purposely waited to review the Florence hotel because I thought perhaps I needed to adjust my expectations. So glad I waited because it verified that (a) the first hotel was way over-rated and the service sucked; and (2) iQ Hotel Roma ROCKS! Caesar and his counterpart (feel awful that his name escapes me right now) were the most service oriented people I've ever encountered on either side of the Atlantic. Let me be clear - even though this was our first trip to Europe, we did lot of reading about local customs, what is the same vs. different than U.S., etc. In other words, we prepared ourselves so as not to be "ignorant Americanos" who storm into Italy and think we're at the local Holiday Inn Express. That said, we weren't prepared for how freaking hot the hotel rooms get due to engergy saving temp controls (and we're from Texas, so that's saying a lot). We honestly thought the A/C was broken the first night. The minute my husband called the front desk to ask if someone could take a look, they brought us a fan, with their apology that nobody could look at the room until 9 the next morning (the fan was a life saver). At 9:00 on the dot, Caesar was at our door with the hotel A/C tech, who verified that the A/C was fine. We thanked them for coming and apologized for the incovenience, and asked if we could just keep the fan - but he insisted on taking us to a room on the other side of the hotel, 1st floor, with no afternoon sun. It was 5 degrees cooler, which felt like a (welcome) freezer -we jumped at the chance to move. We also knew bathtubs were rare in Europe, but after 7 days of trekking around Italy, our feet, back, and everything else was screaming for a good soak - no problem said Caesar, we'll get you a room that has a bathtub. I seriously want to get this guy a Visa and bring him to the states to teach customer service classes. Everything else about the hotel was great as well - it definitely has a modern, clean look and a minimal feel compared to the grand decor of most Italian businesses. Think IKEA with a little more flair. Very cool vending machine with everything from toothpaste to wine (at very reasonable prices). This is especially convenient considering there's no such thing as a CVS or Walgreens in Rome. The onsite laundry is cool, but unfortunately we never got a chance to use it (makes sense, everyone is trying to do laundry at 9:00 at night - still a nice feature). Oh, and when we asked if they had a scale we could borrow to weigh our luggage, they just gave us one to take to our room. One tip - book direct - they have fantastic specials. If you have a Rick Steve's book, you can also get a 10% discount off their lowest rate. We went through Expedia, which in this case was not the best option. Bottom line-stay here! I really liked staying at this hotel. The location is close enough to the train station so that you can just roll your luggage too far. It's kind of tucked away next to a museum, but it's a big blue building so its not too hard to miss. Free wifi, but breakfast is not free like in some other hotels. Vending machines have all kinds of munchies for a euro, pretty reasonable. Foos table on the roof, along with some tables. Front desk was really helpful, they sent us to a decent pizzeria nearby. The rooms are spacious enough for 2 people with the essential amenities that you would expect. In this hotel, you will have to pay for all the extra whatever you want, like razors, tooth paste etc. The front desk staff is accommodating and helpful with directions and reservations. There are a few good restaurants near by with a good gelato and Carefour express for your quick hits. Great location, modern, clean and great staff. I stayed here during the last week of December 2012. The location is perfect! It's about a 20 minute walk from the Colosseum. And maybe a 15 minute walk from the Trevi Fountain. My room was very clean. I read reviews before arriving that mentioned the rooms can get pretty warm but I didn't really have a problem with that. Everyday when I returned from sight-seeing, the room would be warm, but I would just turn on the A/C and it would be fine in about 10 minutes. The staff was great too. Whenever I asked for recommendations, a cab or help with anything, they were very quick about it. The only thing I was annoyed with was the wifi in the evenings. I'm assuming it might be because everyone returns from exploring or whatever in the evening. So around that time, the wifi would be very slow or almost impossible to use. But around 8 or 9pm (I'm guessing since people start to go to sleep), it would start working well again. Other than that, I had a great time there and would definitely recommend it to anyone else going to Rome. read more
