This is a gem of 1920s Art Deco in the heart of Paris. The styling of the rooms is exceptional a few concessions have been made to modern taste, where comfort is concerned, but otherwise it's like stepping back into the age of flappers. Watch out for the unique wall painting in each room, these frescos have been created for Elysees Matignon and are really lovely, not least in that they extend the space of the room which some American visitors might find small. Bathrooms are beautiful and well-appointed; it's worth being aware that the toilet facilities, mini-bar etc are tucked away at the entrance to the rooms, apart from the suites, which have a larger area that also holds the extra bed.
As far as the public areas are concerned, The Mathis bar is a gorgeous red and black confection: you imagine Gatsby could enter at any moment to amuse you with tales of his travels. The staff manage English language speakers well and are happy to arrange restaurant and show bookings for guests. read more
