Our stay at Citadines Les Halles was a mixed bag of good and bad.
First, the good. As ALL the reviewers have said, the location can't be beat. CLH is situated literally smack dab in the middle of the city, just around the corner from every major tourist attractions, and even with a 7-year old, we were able to walk everywhere from our hotel. Also, there are tons of restaurants, patisseries, and stores around the hotel, including Monoprix, a grocery store with a great selection of foods and wine.
The hotel truly is a like staying at someone's apartment, and there's a cleaning only if you're staying more than 7 days. However, you can exchange towels and restock your apt (self-serve) with supplies like soap, shampoo, and boxes of tissue anytime during your stay.
The bad. Although the hotel is pricier than most hotels in Paris, the ambiance is no better than a college dorm room. Aside from the wannabe chic lobby, the rooms are nothing to write home about, and some of the rooms have really inconvenient layout. The back of our bed literally blocked the entire entrance to the bedroom. The only positive thing I can say is that the kitchen is well-stocked with all the necessities to cook a full meal, and having breakfast in our room every morning (courtesy of all the wonderful patisseries around the hotel) was an absolutely treat.
The staff was inconsistent, and depending on who's on duty, you'll get a friendly smile and a bonjour or a receptionist who acts as if you're the last person she wants to see! Also, worth noting, when we'd called before arriving to inform the hotel of our late arrival one receptionist told us over and over again that she could not find our reservation. Only after we asked for a manager, our reservation magically appeared.
So, I suggest (or propose, as they say in French) you ask for a "manager" if you encounter any problem. read more
