If poker is not your thing then every Tuesday there is a pub quiz which is fairly well attended not to mention the beer is very good as well, the gantry offers a large selection of fine spirits and beers so there is lots of choice on offer. The cabin used to do great meals but all of a sudden they stopped and to be honest nobody knows why however I think the most money comes via the poker nights moreover if you are playing well on. Sunday it can last for hours on one occasion I played for seven hours and lost Every Saturday night is also very busy as they always have either live music or a DJ and every time I go there there is always a great atmosphere , the interior is very clean and tidy and the gents is spotless the staff also know there stuff as on more than one occasion I have had my tipple passed to me and I'm not a regular so all in all this is a great pub for regular entertainment and for me as a poker weirdo it's really my first choice pub for that and a nice glass or two of white wine , give it a try if in the area you won't be disappointed

However assuming it won't change massively, Franklyns is a pretty rubbish pub. I won't comment on the decor since I've sure it will look quite nice when it reopens. However previously it always had a problem with attracting some very young customers - young to the point were you wonder if they are quite old enough to be in there. The music is okay and the prices are relatively cheap. It's also really busy most weekends and quite busy during the week so someone must like it!

This review is based on not only a terrible recent visit, but also on a few poor visits prior to this. Prices have increased substantially, but service and food quality is extremely poor. It's a small pub, but I thought it was really cosy and warm and I quite liked it! It's sort of an old mans pub, but the interior is quite contemporary, with bare stone walls and big plush couches, and a well populated darts board in the corner. It's got a couple of 'rooms' almost, with two seating areas away from the bar, and its also a sports bar, with large screens showing sky sports channels. Great wee atmosphere, and good for a drink after dinner in Riva!

Colin and I went in today on his lunch break, as I saw on the website they have a lunch menu that's £9.95 for two courses between 12-2. Suits me! The restaurant is located on Uddingston Main St so it's pretty easy to get to from Hamilton, and our stumbles rumbled so in we went! The restaurant itself is very small and could probably only seat around 20/25 covers. There was only two other tables in when we arrived so we were seated in a nice booth next to the window. The docking station on a shelf played Italian music, and I really quite liked the ambience created. It's a sleek looking restaurant, with neutral colours and at least 200 wine bottles all over the room. There was only one waiter on and one chef, possibly Stefano, and as soon as we went in, menus were presented to us. As most lunch menus are, I expected this one to be quite limited and I wasn't wrong. In the end Colin went for the Soup of the Day which was minestrone, and spaghetti carbonara as his main. I chose chicken liver pâté to start, and the Fish of the Day as my main, which was lemon sole. The food came out briskly and when we needed drinks we got them. The food was delicious and I thoroughly enjoyed it! The fish was wonderfully cooked and Colin enjoyed his carbonara, but couldn't finish as it was quite filling. They were happy enough to give us it away though (and I may or may not be munching it as I type this...) All in all a good meal to be had in here! I think I'll probably head back to try their full menu for dinner as it's quite decent looking as well!
