Pietruccio's in Hamilton is without a doubt one of my favourite restaurants. I've been 5 or 6 times…read moreand every time I go I feel more and more welcome by Pino, the owner. It's one of the most authentic Italian restaurants I've been to, without a doubt, and it's because of Pino's exquisite style of old school Italian cooking. The service is always absolutely perfect; friendly, welcoming and warm, without being in your face. Even though I think Pino should have a restaurant that can seat 1,000 with this quality food, the restaurant is very small and only has about 10-15 tables. Topping everything off with an extensive wine menu, and a full bar, I see no faults with this place. The menu is brand new every day because Pino only makes meals that day using the ingredients he has. I love this aspect because every time I've been the menu has been so different, as it changes with the seasons and with the chef's mood. You can order from the menu normally, e.g. starter, main, dessert, but every time I've been I've gone for the gourmet tasting menu. This is a 7 course meal consisting of 3 starters, a pasta main, a fish main, a meat main, and a trio of desserts, all very small in size. For £25.95 it's absolutely fantastic. This evening as always, I chose the tasting menu. The most exciting aspect is you don't get to choose what you're having; Pino does. So even if you went two days in a row and the menu was the same, you could have 7 different things. Tonight's 3 starters consisted of Smoked Duck Salad, Grilled Asparagus in oil and vinegar, and Stuffed Aubergines. Absolutely heavenly. Our pasta main course was Tortelloni with Ham and Black Truffle in a Creamy Sauce. The fish was Salmon alla Romana, and we had an Aberdeen Angus Fillet, cooked rare to perfection, for our meat main. Without a doubt the best steak I've ever tasted. The trio of desserts consisted of homemade apple cake, homemade dark chocolate mousse, and a selection of berries drizzled in maple syrup. This place is absolutely outstanding, and despite the fact it's not in the city centre, I would definitely advise making a point to get out to this place for a meal. You definitely would not regret it!

The service was also friendly and attentive, could not have been better. Wine list reasonably pricey but for the 4 of us the final bill was £140 which was excellent value. I made a grand entrance by falling on the floor either by slipping on something or a shoe malfunction but the owners & owners daughter were so quick to come over to me as I made a spectacle of myself, & were so kind, they picked me up & dusted me off and promptly gave me ice for my swollen hands. They couldn't do much for my bruised ego however but once we all decided on the 2 course between 2 and a bottle of wine, that helped me laugh of the embarrassment! Great specials by the way with lots to choose from. After living in the US and not getting the "British/Italian" version of lasagna at my disposal or prawn cocktail Marie Rose I knew exactly what I was having. Both were delicious! All six of us had incredible meals. The owners were witty & chatted with us. One graciously tried to take a group photo & failed, we asked the other owner who quickly said no no we are awful with cameras & phones I will get my daughter. We all laughed afterwards. The staff was great, we had a great night there. They put up with a bunch of 50 year olds hooting & hollering telling old childhood stories, although I suspect they enjoyed the banter. Turns out one of our friends shops in one of the owners home towns for work - small world. Definitely check out this place! Great ambiance, great food. Oh & the sticky toffee pudding is to die for!

I'd had this place saved in my bookmarks for a while, as my mum had driven past it and told me…read moreabout it. When I went to look it up on Yelp then, I discovered it didn't exist! So I added it! Colin and I went in today on his lunch break, as I saw on the website they have a lunch menu that's £9.95 for two courses between 12-2. Suits me! The restaurant is located on Uddingston Main St so it's pretty easy to get to from Hamilton, and our stumbles rumbled so in we went! The restaurant itself is very small and could probably only seat around 20/25 covers. There was only two other tables in when we arrived so we were seated in a nice booth next to the window. The docking station on a shelf played Italian music, and I really quite liked the ambience created. It's a sleek looking restaurant, with neutral colours and at least 200 wine bottles all over the room. There was only one waiter on and one chef, possibly Stefano, and as soon as we went in, menus were presented to us. As most lunch menus are, I expected this one to be quite limited and I wasn't wrong. In the end Colin went for the Soup of the Day which was minestrone, and spaghetti carbonara as his main. I chose chicken liver pâté to start, and the Fish of the Day as my main, which was lemon sole. The food came out briskly and when we needed drinks we got them. The food was delicious and I thoroughly enjoyed it! The fish was wonderfully cooked and Colin enjoyed his carbonara, but couldn't finish as it was quite filling. They were happy enough to give us it away though (and I may or may not be munching it as I type this...) All in all a good meal to be had in here! I think I'll probably head back to try their full menu for dinner as it's quite decent looking as well!

I've never been to any other Di Maggios, and I'm keen to try another to see if it can change my opinion on the company. I've been in this restaurant a few times when I was younger so I don't remember it much, but my parents never liked it. But I went in about 6 months ago with my friend Maria and both of us were so disappointed with the service we received. Over the course of the evening we were served by about 13 different staff members so we didn't actually ever know who our waiter was. They managed to get both our starter and main course orders incorrect, but we weren't offered any sort of consolation such as free desserts or a free drink, which is normal in a restaurant when they make mistakes regarding orders. The only reason I'm not giving this place one star is because, when they get it correct, the food is actually not bad. They have a delivery service which I'd use because I do like the food and wouldn't have to put up with the bad service, but I'd never go in the restaurant again.

I had a discussion with the waiter about the nachos with him pointing out that the mince had chilli in it when I said I didn't like anything "nippy" so I went for the ribs. I was surprised he didn't mention these were a bit "nippy" but they were also lovely. Meat fell off the bones and my little face was awash with sauce. Friends had stuffed mushrooms and mozzerella cubes Had the steak and hot cheese philly ciabatta sandwich with chips and salad. Portion was large so took half home. Thoroughly enjoyed what I could eat. Unfortunately, one of my friend's had a problem with her salad with crispy bacon. We all just looked at it when the waiter put it down because the bacon looked as if it had not seen heat never mind being crispy. It was rectified immediately but how any chef/cook could put something that was not cooked out for a customer has obviously no pride in their work. Maybe he/she just didn't care. Who knows, we were not given an explanation. It kinda put us off so we skipped puds and left. I have eaten here a number of times but this time, well .... there was something not just quite right. It was fairly empty so maybe that was it. It will probably be a while before we return.

Well, when i heard this place was opening i was ecstatic…read more I'd previously been to the one in Byres road glasgow which was amazing and ever since i had been telling my mum how good the dressing were etc. we love a salad dressing haha. so then i heard this place was opening and i told everyone and couldn't wait.. so it opened and i couldn't wait to go and my perfect opportunity came when my Aunt from Canada was home and we were going for lunch so i suggested here because it had been so yummy in glasgow. We went in August, after it had been opened for 5 weeks, this was so the hype and stuff had calmed down as we hadn't booked. so we went in just the two of us and were greeted by a man who said hello. i asked for a able for 2 and he said whats the name, i told him we had no reservation.... and he seemed so annoyed why this was i dont know? as it was 1pm and the restuarnt was pretty empty except up the back where i guess it family area. so he'll fussed about on the computer trying to find us a table why i dont know as there were plenty clearly available. so a waiter came and took us to our seat. i think it was the owrst seat in the house, a tiny little table right at the back with all the prams at the fire exit... my aunt did say are you serious'? why cant we have a booth and he got flustestered and walked away so rude. so we sat down, i had to sit right in at the table as the waitresses kept asking my to push my chair in so they could get past to get to other tables. seriously? whilst waiting, we were next to 4 family table 2 of whom had big prams and screaming children. they wouldnt move their pram so i could hardly move in my seat. i was so unimpressed we thought about just getting up and leaving. we ordered drinks and they took ages god knows why as the place wasn't busy. i was disappointed there was no lunch menu deals available.. we ordered ceasar salads an i was vamished and looking forward to it, it came out and we both just looked it... then looked at each other. yes it was a large portion, but the lettuce was swimming in dressing so much so it had gone completly soggy, the chicken was so dry and chargrilled it near broke my teeth and well the croutons you could have knocked someone out with them they were that hard. i was so disappointed as id had a completly different experience in glasgow and i felt so silly for having been telling everyone how amazing it was and dragging my aunt to it. we paid the bill grudginly at almost £15. We left. when walking out still no tables were filled out front this enraged me more as we got sat through the back as "these were reserved" well reserved for who those having dinner? all in all wasn't impressed in the slightest. terrible service and attitude. food was not good at all. pricey too. won't be back ever. i'll stick to what i know and travel to Glasgow instead.

I ate at Tony Macaroni twice during my recent stay in Scotland. It's a chain Italian restaurant,…read moreso the food was OK. Both times I had the Insalata Gotardo, which was very fresh. I enjoyed the mix of flavors in the salad, including the large "crouton" topped with the grilled goat cheese. I also ordered a side order of their home made bread the first time, and the rosemary focaccia bread the second time. Both breads were very good. For dessert, the first time my husband and I split a dessert, which name I can't remember, but it was basically fried sweet dough (what we Americans would compare to funnel cake) with chocolate and toffee dipping sauces. I'm a huge chocoholic, and was a little disappointment in the chocolate sauce, but the toffee sauce was excellent! On my second visit, I got the apple crumble with vanilla ice cream. It was hot and crumbly, a dessert I love paired with nice cold ice cream. Our second visit here was actually not planned... we wanted to go somewhere else which didn't have any seating available for us, so we went to Tony Macaroni as a back up. It's not the type of place I'd go out of my way for, but would count on a decent meal when it was convenient.

The hot holding temp on many dishes was not being maintained and after our last visit, our entire party had bad diarrhea which is a sign of a failing food hygiene system at this location. The food is poor because it all tastes the same - Asian. You want Chinese? You get basmati rice and spices like tumeric which just don't belong in Chinese food. The Chinese curry tastes the same as the Indian section curry. Everything is under seasoned and there was a poor choice out for a Friday evening. The Italian section was equally awful with overcooked pizzas which lacked meat toppings and undercooked crunchy mac n cheese. Indian section had the best choice and most flavour. This was fine but we paid for a world buffet not an Indian one and the dishes we had in common were from the Indian section so I presume this is where we picked up the bacteria which caused our bum gravy. Dessert section has improved. Was happy to see carrot cake back. Overall, the world buffet was mediocre and over priced for the quality of food we had on this visit. I'll stick to the Glasgow locations in future. Shame as the warm, friendly staff in Motherwell outshine the service in every Glasgow location.
