We got the Ballsagna Pizza and it had so much flavor with the great assortment of toppings- their sauce is sweet which is a big perk to me. I don't understand the Hot Box slander because my meal deal was only $25 and was delicious! Back in February, they had a Riley meal deal where you paid $25 for a large one-topping pizza, breadsticks, one dipping sauce, a dessert, and two drinks. That's much more than you get at any other pizza joint for that price! I placed the order on their website for pickup in Broad Ripple. This location is closest to my apartment, but it's a little tough because the parking is not great. I am pretty sure I parked in a lot for another business, but I had no idea where else to park so I just risked it for the sake of the pizza. I came right at my pick-up time, but I still had to wait about 10 minutes. It wasn't a huge deal, but I was sweating that I would come back with a ticket on my car. Thankfully this didn't happen! I will say that every hot box location is pretty dead on the inside and honestly a little grimy. I doubt people actually eat inside often. We feasted when I got home with the food, and it was delicious!! A large pizza goes a long way for a family of two, so we had leftovers for lunch the next day. My favorite thing about Hot Box is their ranch. Both their breadsticks and their pizza dipped in the ranch are amazing. We had plenty of breadsticks left over for the following night (in which we dipped them in chili!) The drinks were standard in their plastic. reusable cups. I wished we had gotten the Riley-edition cups, but they gave us Christmas leftover cups instead. Lastly, we had their cookie pizza. We each had a slice the night we got it with a glass of milk. Got the deal for a large pizza, breadsticks, and 2 drinks. We got a skinny crust pepperoni pizza. It was good, seasoned well and the crust was nice and crisp, not at all soggy. The breadsticks were ok but I feel like they could have been seasoned more. The drinks tasted a little weird, I think the ice was made of tap water and it tasted off. The drink holders are handy, not a drop spilled. The staff are friendly. Parking can be a bit of a problem, limited street parking. Overall I'd order from them again. read more

We wanted to take advantage of their $12 deal that had a large one topping pizza, breadsticks, and two drinks. I ordered the deal and asked for pepperoni on my pizza. I was supposed to get it by 6:17 P.M., but didn't get it until an hour after that. Plus, the pizza had no pepperoni on it despite the receipt showing we ordered pepperoni. I tried calling when the order was late and called three times, but no answer. I tried calling twice after getting the wrong pizza; there was no answer for one of the calls and someone clearly picked up the phone and immediately hung it up for the other call. I modified the pizza and added black olives, green olives and mushrooms on half, pepperoni all over the pizza. I'm a thin crust pizza fam so i ordered the skinny pie, which is just a thin crust pizza. The pizza with the extra toppings was so good, I wished i had ordered the entire pie with them instead of just half. The breadsticks were quite tasty with the nacho cheese sauce. This review is for an order I placed a couple months ago and kept meaning to leave a review. Sorry it took me so long! Cauliflower crust is delicious! The employees are also very helpful. If you're calorie counting, the website has a spot where you can build your pizza and see how many calories everything adds. I'm trying to make healthy choices and when I spoke to someone on the phone they were very accommodating and told me they were able to give me the minimal amount of cheese that I wanted so that I could have a little without adding too many calories per slice. I felt weird making that request, but they were very understanding. I spent most of my college experience being a "Box Rat" at HotBox West Lafayette (the BEST HotBox) and I really do love Hotbox to death. They have great specials if you join the text club, and the people who they employ are always pretty stellar. You cannot beat a place that is open this late with quality food. I also enjoy collecting the wide array of colored cups. I wish they would recycle the super high-quality cups though! My favorite pizza will always be the "HotBox" with buffalo sauce and dipped in the nectar of all that is holy, ranch dressing. You must try the Stix with cheese. The thing is I've had reliable and prompt service every time before from other locations. So why would this one be any different? Well... I'll never be giving this location my business again. Ordered online at 9:39 for pick up at 10:15. I arrive and pay for my order. I am not told it'll be a minute or anything, so I go sit down assuming that it'll be a few minutes. Well the time passes by and 30 minutes later nothing. All along I'm watching as the girl at the front of the store can't handle it. Calls are coming in and she's asking another worker for help just providing basic customer service. She has placed people on hold, hung up, and asked the others to answer the phone for her. Then one of the guys making the pizzas realizes I've been sitting there forever, looks over and asks if I'm waiting on a DoorDash order. I tell him no. He asks the girl what my order is and she looks lost. Even though she's the person that I paid over 40 minutes ago at this point. She looks around in the back and then comes back to the register to pull my order. She gives it to the guy who clearly looks frustrated. I realize my order was never even passed on to the person making the pizzas. I've been waiting almost an hour in vain. So I go up to the counter and ask the girl if he's about to start making my pizza to which she replied "I assume so." Ughhhhhh. So I politely ask her to please just refund me because I can't wait another 30 mins. She doesn't say anything - not even a sorry.... and calls one of the guys over. The guy gave me my money back and told me he understood my frustration. I heard him tell the girl she needed to work on her customer service skills. Yeaaaaaa. The truth is that if the person up front can't do their job it affects everyone down the production chain. But also WHERE IS MANAGEMENT? HotBox Pizza is a 17-location Indiana chain of pizza joints that seems to flourish amongst the young adult and college crowd. As is true for most pizza joints, they offer in-house dining, carry-out and delivery within specified areas. They also offer catering and have some fund-raising options. As I don't live within the delivery range for any location, I've only experienced their dine-in option at a couple different locations. If you're familiar with Broad Ripple, then you already know the basics. HotBox Pizza is a "I'm drunk and need to sober up before driving home" kind of joint, because Broad Ripple has sort of a strong police presence and DUI's are more expensive than pizza pies. HotBox isn't and really doesn't claim to be "gourmet" pizza. I've never disliked a pizza from HotBox, but I've also never been blown away by one. They offer the usual toppings, the usual options and fair prices. The decor is always, or at least for the places I've seen, in sort of a red/black interior that feels comfortable but doesn't really push any personality. As I recall, they used to offer pizza-by-the-slice at this location but I don't believe that's an option anymore. They do have a lunch special called The Lunch Box that ends at 2pm - a slice, a salad, or sticks (pick two) for $5.00. They also offer other pizza specials, but no real "individual" option after 2pm. I visited HotBox before the recent English Beat/Soul Asylum concert at the Vogue, hoping to grab a quick slice. Unfortunately, no "slice" was an option and I ended up ordering a small sausage pizza with a drink - the entire bill came in just over $11. They have a build-your-own option for pizza that is pretty reasonable as far as pizza goes, though I wish they'd have at least one option for an individual diner. I was not in the mood for an entire pizza, even a small one. I dined in. It didn't take long, which was the goal since I didn't have long before I needed to get in line for the concert. The crew was friendly, though I wouldn't say "welcoming." My order was taken and I took up a spot at one of their tables (NOTE: the window area is not wheelchair accessible, but the rest of the place is). I did have to move a chair, but that's standard. I ordered a drink and received one of their non-disposable cups you can take with you - as I was headed to a concert, I was bummed I had to toss it. One word of advice. HotBox only offers soft drinks other than a Hi-C fruit punch option through the fountain. As an avid iced tea drinker whose body rejects soft drinks, this is always a challenging situation. I kept with the fruit punch, but sure wish they had an iced tea option. I was amused that HotBox appears to be a location for this new Pokemon craze going on. More than once, someone came in to tag their whatever it is. I'm old. I'm unhip. I have no idea and don't particularly care, but it was fun watching otherwise hipsters come in and make fools of themselves chasing some child's game. Overall, HotBox Pizza continues to be a perfectly fine option if you're in the area. It's sure not a destination pizza joint, but it's a decent option if you're in the area and/or in their delivery area. The pizza is a fairly standard issue pizza and it's local as opposed to that godawful Papa John's crap. You like pizza? Support 'em. Just keep your expectations in check. read more

HotBox is solid chain pizza. Don't expect much else. I've had many a HotBox pizza pie in my day, and I had a great delivery experience from this location. It said online it would take 1 hour to get my pizza, but when I called he said 30 minutes. Sure enough, 30 minutes (give or take) later my phone rang and my large pepperoni pizza was here. I had told the guy on the phone that I had a coupon for a free large topping pizza and he had already taken that into account on my receipt. A taste of Bloomington comes to Indianapolis. And it was good. When I used to go visit my friends in B-town I made Hot Box (Pizza Express back then) a must go. Now it is here in town and I can get my BBQ chicken pizza fix whenever I want. The BBQ chicken pie is the way to go, if you don't agree...leave now. They have some great options on the build your own pie section, but I'll let them do it for me. The Big 10 which includes soda's and breadsticks, is a great way to get a full meal for cheap, its like $12 bucks I think, used to be $10 but with inflation being the way it is...you gotta do what you gotta do to make ends meet. Typically I call ahead and then walk over at the time they say it will be done. It seems like some people just get on Yelp to complain. This is one of the best pizzas in Indianapolis. It's not fancy (but I don't think most people are looking for fancy pizza in Indianapolis). This place is consistently good, offering a wide variety of menu options, including of course, the build-your-own pizza. It's much tastier than other options in the area, such as Bazbeaux or Jockamo's. My favorite is the Popeye. The ingredients they use are really good, especially their ricotta. The breadsticks are great too. Every week, they offer a different pizza at 50% off along with seasonal pizzas at a discount. The price point is excellent. You really can't go wrong. Perhaps relevant these days: The store on Georgia street is very clean, and it's obvious that they're taking Covid-19 seriously. My friend and I called Hotbox and had someone take our order who was completely incompetent and spent a solid 15 minutes trying to figure out sizing and pricing (things that an employee should have basic knowledge of) were placed on hold 3 times just to finish giving delivery instructions. Then, after another 30 minutes were called back and told that we were out of their delivery range (we are 10 minutes away). I, in fair response, said that since their employee was responsible for messing up our plans and not telling us we were out of their delivery range, that we had made other plans. Instead of offering to comp or discount part of our order, I got extreme attitude from an employee asking "what we wanted for free." Then, without a common courtesy warning, was thrown to an incredibly rude manager who said I would not be getting any sort of compensation for the inconvenience. I could either pick up my order and get a coupon for a future order (similar to what one would get in the mail regularly, goody!) or they would cancel my order. I have worked in customer service for years and when an employee of a business messes up, and causes an inconvenience, it's the business's responsibility (normally executed by a competent manager who cares about the company) to fix the situation to where the company makes sure that the paying customer is satisfied with the outcome. I was belittled, inconvenienced, and disrespected by the employees at Hotbox and by the "manager" (if you don't know how to perform basic customer service you don't deserve any sort of title.) I'm incredibly disappointed in Hotbox and this experience and since said "manager" told me to feel free to have at a review, I definitely wanted to make sure that I did that. read more

While we used to order from here at least once every couple of weeks (and often more), it's been nearly a year since we've had our HotBox fix. The problem: It became literally impossible to complete an order here. The phone system is annoying and full of pretend typing sounds from a computer. The internet ordering system is a little better for inputting an order. Unfortunately, once you submit your order, who knows if you'll get it? FOUR times in a row we ordered and never received our pizza or received it only after waiting on hold forever to try and reach a real person to address the fact it was never delivered. I had a coupon for a free pizza so we checked out Hotbox. The counter person was friendly and took our order of a pizza, bread sticks and 2 sodas. We got our drinks and the bread was right up. Decent breadstick and sauce with cheese. The pizza came up 10 to 15 mi later. It looked and smelled really great. It was pretty good pizza, not great not bad , just avg. I actually loved the crust. I think there was something about the sauce to was too much like Papa Johns, I hate Papa Johns. We ate about half and took the rest home where it sat in the fridge. It was the best pizza I ever had for the price we paid. Would we go back, probably not with so many other pizza joints in town. But if a friend said hey let's go to HotBox we would go. read more

Whether you have been drinking heavily, or are the more stay-at-home type, you will definitely fall in love with Hot Box. Their sauces are fantastic, the breadsticks have garlic-salt goodness, and the pizza is always hot and fresh. You will come for the food, but you'll keep coming back for the fast customer service and friendly staff. The prices are great for the quality of the pizza, and I can definitely get behind a joint that is hip and thriving, depite not being a national chain. I have only came here twice and both times have been horrible. First time, the lady who answeeed the phone was incredibly rude about the coupon I was wanting to use. Stated there was no such coupon - I had received the coupon only two days prior from an individual who was found around the area giving our cups and coupons. When the pizza had finally arrived, the pizza was a pepperoni when I had ordered a porky one. When calling about the order a general man claiming to be the manager was also rude and stated there was nothing they could do. The second time was today. We had ordered two pizzas - pepperoni and supreme. We ordered online and arrived to pick up. The cashier stated it would only be a few minutes. We arrived at 12:15pm and the online order stated it would be ready by 12:17pm. The cashier came over at 12:30pm to let us know that our order was taking long because they were making ranch. Let the cashier know we could not wait to do us picking up the pizza for a meeting. We asked if we could just have extra cheese or marinara instead. After about 5-7 minutes the cashier comes back and stated that one of our pizzas never made it in the oven. At this time it was close to 12:40pm and our order said it would be ready at 12:17pm. Your delivery was so slow, your name should be changed to Luke-Warm Box pizza, and your prices aren't cheap enough to warrant your product. Tasteless, cold, uninspired, and late. This is my go to place when I've been drinking too much on the Ave. I mosey (stumble) on down to HotBox and feed my drunk cravings with some breadsticks and cheese sauce. The staff here is always friendly, and never scoffs because I may have had a few too many. The service is quick and friendly. I love sitting at the stools in the window and watching people walk up and down the Ave. I don't know how many times someone has come in from off the street to give me their card (yes I do, four). So I guess if you're looking a date, eating breadsticks in the window of their store will score you one pronto! If the food 5 star worthy? Two answers. When you're sober: no way.
