Eggroll: don't bother. Crust is thick and doughy. Dull flavor. Like it's sat under a heat lamp for hours. Fried Rice : very good. Flavorful, moist. Beef: excellent. Tender. Nicely seasoned, yet not overbearing. Broccoli (and carrots) : For MY Preference they need more cooking, BUT I prefer soft veggies. Probably perfectly acceptable for most, although some of the broccoli was actually cold. Service : it's cafeteria style. Don't expect much. Bottom line: a tad pricey, but good flavor and fills the belly. I personally would not go out of my way to come here, but when little is open on Christmas Day, it works. If you get the combo, opt for the drink instead of the eggroll. read more

Hot Wok - Beef with Broccoli / fried rice / egg roll - Chinese Near Me - Staunton, Virginia

I purchased a Combo #2 dinner on Friday, 02/21/25. I had Bourbon Chicken, Chicken & Broccoli, and Noodles. On Saturday morning I felt a bit nauseous. Five hours later I was puking into a bathroom trash can while sitting on the toilet. This continued for 7 hours. Sorry to be graphic, but it remnants of the Friday dinner. I will starve before I eat there again. read more

This is the third time I've tried HOTWOK They're food is greasy and disgusting. Pork fried rice was burnt along with my king pao chicken that had no peanuts in it.. I am from the west coast so maybe they don't serve it with peanuts but irregardless is was burnt and oily and yuck. read more

Vegetarians beware! Asian restaurants are usually a vegetarian haven, but not here! Only two options unless you want to +$2 for veggie lomein. Food portions are reasonable for a meal but the price point is also on the top end for Chinese food. Flavors are adequate, noodles are over cooked, veggies are done just right....but not worth another visit. Even the most basic carry out has more options! read more

Hot Wok - All are served as carry outs - Chinese Near Me - Staunton, Virginia

Hot Wok is located in Staunton Plaza, and man, this place gets BUSY! The line was literally out the door, weaving all around the space - I did get excited, as that means the food will be fresh and this could potentially be really good? The menu offers various appetizers, soups, lo mein, fried rice, and various protein, and even bubble tea and smoothies. We ended up getting a combo, with 3 entrees (Bourbon Chicken, General Tso's, and Orange Chicken), fried rice, and an egg roll, adding in some lo mein noodles, and an order of Pineapple and a Green Apple bubble tea (only comes in large sizes). The food was just not good. I think the Bourbon Chicken may have had the 'most' flavor out of the 3, but only because there were some 'well done' parts that made it have some type of flavor; otherwise, the sauces between all the 3 chickens seems to have the same syrupy coating on all of them. The thing was, all were just super bland and had no distinct flavor - you can tell that it was 'sweet', but that was pretty much it. The rice was super mushy and had no soy taste to it; even adding soy sauce didn't help. The lo mein also lacked any type of flavor to it and was a bit overcooked. The bubble tea were both undrinkable - both made with powders, it was just super disappointing. I do have to note that they are extremely generous with the portions, so you can easily split the meal over 4 days! Everything was tossed. Glad I was able to give them a try, but will not return! +bland food +powder used for bubble tea +friendly staff +mall seating available outside +plenty of parking in the plaza lot read more

The Hot Wok is a really yummy Chinese place located in the shopping center that Martin's is in located in Staunton. The vibe is casual and it's very clean inside. They have 1-3 entree combos, and many more - I recommend the Bourbon chicken it's very tasty and they really give big proportions. They also have a shoe business inside called Destination Clout and it's a lot Nike brand shoes. Service is always quick and friendly. read more

Food was supposed to be here by 6:30. Now we are told 7:30. Perhaps it is Uber Eats fault but damn!!! Arrived at 7:35. Never order takeout from these folks again. And Hot Wok screwed up the order on top of that!! read more

One of the nicest/cleanest Chinese places I have been to. I ordered online for pickup and my food was done quickly. The food was delicious and a fair price. Would definitely go again if I was local! read more

About as good as your standard Chinese takeout place. Nothing special but the spicy chicken is decently good. They serve bubble tea, which is a huge bonus for me, and really the main reason I go there. Convenient location. read more

This is flavorless, basic, Chinese food- where the staff are condescending if you ask for anything. It is very overpriced for what you get.

Delicious! They are reopening in a new location (next to Martin's) We went and had their combo meals: fried rice and General Tzo's, fried rice and Sesame chicken, fried rice and Spicy beef and Lo Mein and Broccoli Chicken. Everything was great and the service was friendly. read more

Quick good Chinese food. Cafeteria stule, oeder and take it to a table. Friendly service.

Good food, but absolutely HORRIBLE service!!! The "gentleman" who took our order was very curt, abrasive, and seemed annoyed that we were taking a minute to decide, despite us be the ONLY patrons inside at the time. We brushed it off and enjoyed the food. However, when my husband went to ask for a To Go bag, the same "gentleman" SHOUTS "Sir!!" In front of everyone and throws his arms up in the air. Hot Wok - y'all's food is so good, but no food is THAT good to be treated in that way. We won't be returning - for us, we just prefer not to throw money at a business that has little respect for its customers; however, I do hope you all address the attitude of this worker/owner whoever he! read more

Mediocre food with too much sodium. I was spoiled by living in California for 11 years, which has MUCH better Asian cuisine.

This place was recommended to be the best place for Chinese food in the area and we were not impressed. Especially with the Egg Rolls, they were not good and super small. read more

Big portions but overwhelmingly oily food. I was least fond of the orange chicken, as it was soggy. The chow mien was not that bad. I think there are better Chinese food spots I'd rather spend my money on. read more

DO NOT EAT HERE. two of my coworkers (and I'm sure many others) got food poisoning in the last few days. Neither knew beforehand that the other went and also had the same symptoms until after the fact. so it isn't just a coincidence. this place is the common denominator... gross. read more

Worst experience I have had at a restaurant in Staunton. The food is too expensive and tastes terrible. Worst than at the airport. I can only drink water and had to pay for bottled water. WHSV Filmed the day we were there. We were on film but they missed my exchange with manager. I do not recommend! read more

Just want to share my wife's experience. A few weeks ago, she called in an order to pick up. she was asked if She'd like to pay then or when she got there...she said when she got there, he asked about what time she would be there so she gave a specific time. When she arrived, she paid and then heard the order called out to the cooks....after waiting about 25-30 minutes she was on her way. While standing there watching and listening, another customer called in their order and was asked the same questions she was asked except she heard him say, "if you pay now it'll be ready when you get here." So my wife says to herself Ok, there's the problem, I chose to pay in person but why did I call in my order ahead of time and give a time. So, today we chose to order again...this time, she decided to pay over the phone so it'll be ready at the time. She specifically asked "it'll be ready when I get there?". She arrived one minute after said designated time, 34 minutes after placing the call and our card being charged. As soon as she said her name for pickup, her order was called out to the cooks in the back....to begin to make it. WHY did you ask what time she would be there? If she wanted to stand around and wait in a public place, she wouldn't call in our order. After standing there for 11 more minutes and her frustration growing, our food is finally ready. No apologies for having to wait. My wife asked if she was missing a step of the process as to why our order wasn't ready even though it was paid over the phone, She was asked to repeat what she said, and was asked what did she order...what does that matter, she called in our order almost an hour ago. Frustration turned to anger when the girl behind the register asked her "what the F*!* is your problem". Obviously our business isn't appreciated. read more

So soggy it was inedible. Definitely will not order from them again. $41 and all we could eat was the cheese wontons. Gen Tso chicken is it's like mein was soggy and mushy same with the Szechwan beef. Like it had been sitting in liquid for days. read more

BEST Chinese food hands down!! The portions are Huge. The family is so accommodating, if they don't have any left if what you're looking for they will cook it on the spot!! The wontons are made to order so take the few minutes and wait for them, you won't be disappointed!! Our favorite is the Burbon or the Spicy Chicken but we have never had anything we didn't like. The bubble tea selection is impressive and we always get a couple but our favorite is the milk tea. Located in the mall by the movie theater...don't forget to drop by or even make the drive to the mall just for Great Chinese Food from a long time family owned business. read more

just wanted to say if you're going to own a business, have a OPEN sign on your front door of your business, and have orders still coming through food services, to anyone with a brain you would appear to be OPEN. so tonight i walked in with my mom for an order through uber eats it was only 8:10 pm, the open sign was on the door, we didn't think anything of it. the woman behind the counter was polite and super friendly she told us they were closed and we said thanks for letting us know right and on the way out the door i fipped the open side to closed not even to be rude just so there wasn't any other confusion we had already made it to the car and three men come running out the door cussing us out, flipping us off, and screaming from across the parking lot. not only was the whole thing uncalled for but genuinely EMBARRASSING. bad service is an understatement but definitely good at making people NEVER wanna come back. read more

Best hot and sour soup in town. Priced right and service is fast. Located in the Staunton mall.

Of the places in town to get Asian food I believe hot wok is your best bet. Other places I have visited are either too expensive or have rude employees. read more

This has 1 entre that is not chicken, I am allergic to chicken, therefore just 1 option. The best thing I did have was the Boneless Ribs. will not be back that is for sure. Needs more selections. read more

Have been a customer over 10 years, but today had trouble with an order and there was an argument insinuating I was wrong, so that's my last visit. read more

This place is terrible, the noodles for the lo mein were just sitting out in the open, along with the rice uncovered. When ordering just look in the back behind the register. One of the cooks was standing by the small window in the kitchen digging in his ear and went back to cooking! The meat for the bourbon chicken was tough and stringy and had lots of fat on it. That was the 1st and last time we'll eat there. read more

Probably worst Chinese I've ever had. Rice was greasy, and general tso's chicken was chewy and inedible.

I like Hot Wok's dinners. The price is right for the two and three item plates. I love their rice too, not too dry like a lot of Chinese restaurants. I do NOT like their soda and usually opt to get an egg roll with my meal in it's place, I find all of the different sodas from the machine taste kind of moldy, like the machine needs to be cleaned, and it has tasted that way for 2 years, so I don't know what the deal is there. Anyway, decent local Chinese for a pretty good price. read more

This is the second time I ordered from them. I travel in an RV and they had no problem delivering to me at the local Walmart where I was parked. I found the food to be hot, fresh and very tasty. The service was friendly and the lady was very helpful. I will order from them any time I am passing through! read more

Super good food always fresh n hot the people that work there are nice too. And the mall was really clean and the food court guy was helpful keeping it clean read more

Let me start on a positive note...I really like the hot & spicy chicken. The thing that has irritated me to no end is that they automatically charge a delivery fee and then they have this mandatory "tip". If you don't give the tip they don't deliver. So my issue is this a tip is something you pay for service or if the delivery is fast. The fact that they make you add it smh is just in bad taste! read more

We ordered several items to be delivered to our work and the American employee changed the order to fit "how their menu works" without disclosing the information to us, charged us more that we should have been charged, did not inform us that you got either an egg roll or drink. When I called back to ask for our drinks the woman said she would bring them then called back a few minutes later to inform me how the menu works, and she was a snot. I called back to speak to a manager who basically explained to me "how it works" there. I told him the menu should reflect the policies of the restaurant and we should have been informed as to the changes with our order before we paid. The owner claims to have been there 20 years with no complaints. I seriously doubt that. Hell, even the coupons were out dated that they sent with our order. This place is a joke. read more

This is the greatest restaurant of all time. Highly recommend. Service is great and the servers are amazing humans and are great to talk too. Most of the time in my travels I stop here to have a talk with there amazing customer service and superb food read more

Without a doubt the BEST asian cuisine in the area. I have known people who drive 35 Minutes over from Lexington just to get their food! Its that good. They are a small restuarant in the Staunton Mall. You can eat in, take the foos to-go, and I believe they deliver as well. Their classic combination platter works like this- COMBO #1 :You Pick One entree (from the steam bar) and get that with fried rice and a complimentary drink. $6-7 Combo #2 and combo #3 work the same, except you pick an additional entree and more food, for which you pay $1 more. In additional to their combos, they have soups, appetizers, chef's specials, quart sized rice and lomein, and other dishes. I have tried plenty items in their menu as well as their steam bar, I have a few things to recommend: Bourbon Chicken: cubed grilled chicken in a secret recipe bourbon sauce. Yum. Shrimp Lo Mein: scrumptious noodles with shrimp. A must try! Cheese Wontons: a light appetizer or dessert. I'm warning you though, these are addicting. read more

This is the best chinese food i have ever tasted. I am from south korea and this the best place i've been throughout my traveling experice

This Place is awesome! They give you a lot of food, so you get multiple meals for 7 bucks. So far I haven't had any bad service. They take your order, ring you up, and get ya out in a quick couple of minutes. Not half bad if you ask me. read more
