I ordered my items from the store but will be calling tomorrow to cancel my order. The frumpy associate working the door should work on her bad attitude when a customer doesn't know they have to be let out. Very impressed with this store! I hadn't shopped here in years and stopped by to pick up a birthday gift. I had just got off my shift at a neighboring store, was very hot and irritated, but left in a great mood! All the employees were very hands on, polite, and made me feel very welcomed and important. The managers of HT suck but VG was the first place I had such a great experience with the managers of this place! when I first came into the store a few years ago Krystal and Andrea the two store managers greeted me graciously and catered to my every need. It wasn't just basic customer service (which most of the workers at the HT VG have down 100%, especially Stephon, Kayla, Puja, Jordan and Isaac) but it was also knowledge We bonded over pops and clothes and it made experience more exciting as long as them and most of the existing associates still work their they'll be getting my business and I don't even live in the area! THE worst Hot Topic in the tri-city area. The staff are the typical "working for a pay check" people who knowing nothing about the music or scene that they're supposed to be selling. Don't bother asking for help since you will be rushed to the In store computer terminal and told to make your purchase there. Seems like going to the back is too hard for them. read more

Honestly kinda dissatisfied with this place right now. Like at first this place had only one register open and they had sufficient people to at least have both of them open so it took forever to get rung up. And also I was given the incorrect change. I didn't notice this until I came home but I literally got robbed ten dollars from this place yesterday. I gave the cashier a 100$ bill and when I check the receipt she put down that I gave her 90$ so I was given the incorrect change. I wish I would have noticed this sooner but it's my fault for not checking before getting home. Don't really mind it cause it's just 10$ but you gotta be careful just Incase it's ever more than just ten dollars. Train your cashiers better. read more

Let me start off with how amazing Kayla and Seana are! Give them a raise, make them managers, or make them employees of the month because they gave 110% outstanding, above and beyond customer service today. I had ordered a box of The Nightmare Before Christmas 3 piece trinket box gift set, and 2 eyeshadow palettes and had it shipped to the store because I was afraid it was going to break if I shipped it to my residence. I picked up my order on 08/23/2019 at around 9pm and Kayla had asked "would you like me to open it and make sure everything is correct?" I said yes and she opened it carefully and had grabbed each item to make sure everything was what I had ordered. She even opened the eyeshadow palettes to make sure the eyeshadow wasn't cracked. I appreciate that Kayla!! Then she unwrapped the trinket box from the bubble wrap and made sure it looked good. Everything looked great and she wished me a great evening. But unfortunately when I got home I opened the trinket box (something I should have done before I left the store) and was pulling each one out. As I pulled out the last one I saw a piece lying in the box, I was devastated to realize that one of the trinkets was broken. I couldn't go back to the store because it was already past store hours. I had to wait until I got off work today (08/24/2019). I just left the store and oh wow did I get the same AMAZING, OUTSTANDING, APPRECIATIVE 110% customer service from Seana. I walked in and right away Seana greeted me with a welcoming smile. I had already made the decision that I was going to return it and just get store credit. But then Seana made my day! I explained that I came in the night before and picked up my online order but that when I opened the box when I got home it was broken. She right away said "I knew it, when I picked up the box in the back I heard a noise like it was cracked. But we have some in store so let me go grab one." She walks away and comes back with a brand new one. Of course I wanted to open it before I left the store because I didn't want this one to be broken as well. It was all good and looking really cute. I took out the paperwork that came in the box to do the exchange and she just simply says "no you're set to go, we don't need that because it is a straight exchange." I cannot thank you enough for such a simple exchange that was hassle free! Then Kayla walks in and I explain to her what happened when I left the store the night before. I cannot explain how amazing it is to feel treated with respect and enthusiasm and such great positive attitude. You ladies rock and definitely deserve some recognition for the great work that you did. I wouldn't have imagined myself making a purchase from hot topic after an incident that happened 3 years ago. I finally let go of the grudge I had and gave them a second chance, hoping they would have changed since then and they did. It may have just been the customer service being different from online to in person. But I will definitely start shopping again at Hot Topic. Coming from someone who also works in retail I cannot thank you enough Kayla and Seana for such an amazing interaction I had with you two!! Ps. I love this hot topic, it is one of my favorite hot topic locations! (And I have actually been to many locations because I'm a total hot topic fan..) The reason I enjoy this location so much is because they usually always have things I don't tend to find in other locations, idky, maybe from others selling faster or something, but I just love how I can always find super cute shit at this one. The other reason is because the manager, Krystal, is super friendly. They also have an Instagram page @hottopic_vg which I find super cute and creative because the employees model outfits rather than posting tons of generic ads. +keeping us updated on merch stock. Last, there's this one employee with purple hair, I think her name was Kayla, she is sooooooo cute and was happy to help me. I always enjoy employees that are welcoming and friendly. First time at this location, but i have visited many! They do a good job changing up their merchandise. Nice that you can have an opportunity to listen to the music they sell on the CDs before you have to buy them. They tend to have some killer sales, like the one we took advantage of today! This location sucks! I used their store online kiosk to purchase a shirt they didn't have in stock. NEVER AGAIN!! Let me just say if you choose to do this be prepared for sucky customer service if there's a problem. They sent the wrong shirt and when I told the guy who was working the register, who's name was Steve, his reply was "since it wasn't purchased at our store you are going to have to take it home and call corporate yourself." I'm sorry but since it was a hot topic mistake shouldn't hot topic take the shirt back, give me a refund or call the d.c and fix it for me???
