I haven't been to the Streets of Brentwood in a while and had to shop for my teenage, son's birthday present. A difficult age to shop for but this store made it super easy with all the fun choices he likes and now, also myself. Michelle was extremely kind and helpful, especially with the Anime section that my son loves. She told me of all the great deals they had for it and others. When my arms were full with Anime apparel, she kindly held it for me and took it up front so I can shop for more. She also made sure when I closed out that I was a member, to get more great deals. Deandra is always amazing. Ive been at the store a couple times to buy blind boxes and each time she has been so nice and accommodating. I don't normally take these but I'm a firm believer that above and beyond customer experience should always be recognized as so many take time to bash a retailer for entitled and unrealistic expectations like some of the comments below. As a regional sales manager myself I travel all over CA and enjoy stopping in your stores which come in all different flavors. What I can tell you is that the lovely Tori and Ashley in my neighborhood brentwood ca hot topic are what keep me coming back . I often bring my daughter (6) and they are genuine , warm, and know my fandoms and how best to position their knowledge and promotions to provide me the best solutions . They manage their social media in a way that excites me to stop in just to chat . And They also provide a culture in their always well merchandised store that makes it feel like I'm visiting friends to talk about my music and nerd culture. Tori, recently alerted me that new toki doki unicorns came in and went above and beyond to let my daughter know their names and lore behind each of their stories. She stands out to me for not only her patience and ability it to quarterback a busy sales floor, but her connection to her customers and also when I observe her training her seasonal staff. Cool store with lots of merchandise. I shopped at this Hot Topic near the beginning of this month and had a great time. Like other stores, they have safety precautions set in for Covid-19. When you enter the store the employee at the door squeezes sanitizer into your hands, which is great. This is the only store that i have shopped at this month that has done that, so good on them. I came shopping for Loungefly Backpacks for a birthday gift, and luckily they had the ones i was interested in purchasing. Getting help from the employees was very simple and easy. This is just for a young naive cashier named tori. Would not recommend any interactions with this rude cashier--she mentioned signing up for their card as well as the promotions going on and I politely declined both, which clearly made her mad. Her interaction with me became very blunt which instantly made me feel very uncomfortable. She became this cold, harsh cashier that just wasn't stoked to be helping me at all. Her whole attitude was horrendous. This was my first bad experience with anyone here, and for the most part the associates are super chill but she seems to have a massive chip on her shoulder. Terrible customer service from the manager! Clearly the manager just knows how to be a total sour puss. So much for her professionalism. Me and my boyfriend were looking to buy a few items and were looking forward to it. My boyfriend found a damaged Shaq funko pop that was damaged on the box. The associate was willing to give a discount on it. The manager yells out "we don't do discounts on funko that have damaged boxes" . This woman needs to be fired from this type of job. She has no manners nor sympathy to make customers satisfied. I'm glad I changed my mind with shopping at this location because I would rather spend money at a hot topic location that actually treats customers right. read more

This place is located in an outdoor shopping center. My son really isn't into any stores. So we came here and he fell in love with it. They have a lot of unique things here. These are things that are somewhat hard to find in other stores. I personally thing it's a little pricey my son bought a t-shirt and socks for $33. They did have a sale buy two get one free. They send you coupons if you sign up for email and also on your birthday you get special offers. My son uses all his allowance here. So I'll be coming back. The only thing is it's a little cramped inside the store but a lot of items. read more

Having 2 teens, this place is a mainstay in all our seasonal clothes shopping. Every time we visit The Streets, they make a beeline to Hot Topic. Sometimes, the employees are super nice and helpful. Lately they haven't been. Earlier this week, I entered the store looking for a specific item, and the two employees in conversation couldn't be bothered to look up to acknowledge any of the customers who recently entered the store. Feeling like I was imposing, I apologized for interrupting and asked if they had a certain item in stock. I couldn't even finish the name of the item before the employee cut me off saying "NOPE" very abruptly. This is subpar to any customer service standard I have ever been held to. Not even thanking her (what's there to thank?) I left. Go to the Concord or Tracy locations if you can. This one is convenient but that's it. read more

I come for Funkos. The display of Funkos in all Hot Topics are usually almost floor to ceiling. Shelves and shelves of them with rows of them on each shelf. This always makes it hard to find a specific Funko you want. Today the shelves weren't packed so I could play "Tetris" and move the rows to find special ones hidden in the back or underneath other ones. The store is filled with memorabilia from movies, TV shows, icons (ie: Sailor Moon). They sell random items from jewelry, clothing, buttons, collector dolls, etc. The staff have always been great. You can't let looks be the first impression. They've all been so nice, patient and helpful whenever I'm there. Last time I was there, one of the staff got on a ladder and searched high and low for a specific one I wanted. And I've had another staff member tell me which ones they have based on a list I bring in. It's an addiction and the staff have been pretty awesome feeding into it! It pays to be a Hot Topic member if you frequent the store enough. They give you Hot Topic cash to spend if you spend so much. And they usually have a deal like BOGO 50% off. read more

Came in today- this is solely based on the unprofessional manager or supervisor- whatever she is. I came in and while I was browsing I over heard this short, skinny young woman behind the register talking to her employee, who I assume is new. She was reprimanding him about "chatting too much" with the customers. I found him to be very nice and welcoming. But found that it was very unprofessional for her to do this in front of customers. She also stated that she just wanted customers to get out! She didn't want them spending too much time in the store and she just wanted us to leave. She was very unprofessional and this was unacceptable. As a customer i felt uncomfortable even being there, after hearing what she had to say! I wanted to let her know that it was completely inappropriate. Her boss should teach her how to appropriately speak to her employees because it seems like she is poorly suited for the position. Especially for being rude when it's regarding customers!(I'm hoping she wasn't the store manager). Needless to say, If she doesn't want us there, I will not be returning! read more

Just took my girls into Hot Topic and was greeted right away by Anthony. He asked if we needed help finding anything and told us about the sale that was going on. My daughter was looking at nose rings and he was extremely helpful with that. I found an awesome Boba Fett shirt and I asked him if it came in a tank top. He said "Oh no, I'm sorry we don't carry it in the store but we can order it online and have it shipped to the store if you'd like. It's free shipping." My Little even said "I like his green hair." Everytime we come to this Brentwood Hot topic we are always greeted with smiling faces and super friendly helpful sales associates which is very much appreciated as my girls are quite shy. I bought these earphones and they turned out to be crappy. Any subtle movements would change the sound of my music and turn on the microphone on my phone. Before i bought them i asked the cashier how good they were in terms of quality she said "pretty good", so i just spent $14.50 on bad earphones. I usually go to this Hot Topic 2 or 3 times a month to browse and shop. Typically I am helped by Sal, all 6ft 8in of helpfulness and kind attitude, and today was no different, however, as I was asking questions to Sal, the store manager Alyssa decided to interject herself into the conversation. I was trying to return a pair of pants that ripped within one hour of wearing them. They were indeed clearance pants but she was telling me they rang up for 9.98, when I bought them for 18.98. I just asked her if there was a chance of being able to just use the pants as credit, even for 9.98 and she told me yes. As I went to go grab another pair of clearance pants, (because come on, this store is super expensive). She goes to tell me that the credit she was going to give me was only towards a full priced pair of pants and that's not what she told me at first. So I asked her why cant I just use this credit towards the other set of clearance pants? and instead of answering my question she yanks the clearance pants out of my hands and tosses my ripped pants back to me and tells me that she refuses the return. I asked why is she being such a dick right now and the she needs slow her roll a bit. She asked me to leave the store so I did. Her tone towards me was super high,condescending and abrasive. Being a former Hot Topic Manager myself, I knew that there were things she could have done to keep a satisfied customer, but instead she decided to railroad that idea and not do her job, considering I was prepared to buy other things in the store as well. The way she treated me as a customer is not the way any "Store Manager" should treat any customer. If her District Manager was there, she should definitely be reprimanded. The employees are always so nice to me and my kids and have helped us look for specific Funko-Pop figures, as well as make helpful purchasing suggestions. They always know their stock and are totally willing to help you track an item down or look online and they will actually call you when your item is in stock,and not just put your name on a list like other stores.
