On this particular visit I got my favorite: lasagna pizza with garlic knots. If you mix together the large dollops of sauce, meat, and ricotta cheese on the lasagna pizza, then close your eyes and take a bite, you'll almost forget you're eating pizza and not actual lasagna. It's heavenly. The garlic knots are soft and they don't skimp on the garlic. I'm also a big fan of their stuffed sausage and pepperoni pizza, which has mozzarella cheese and ricotta cheese in it too with sauce on the side instead of in the pizza. My wife enjoys their mac and cheese pizza. The Sal's in West Bend is far superior to the one in Hartford. The slice selection in Hartford is usually very basic and limited in comparison and the garlic knots are smaller with less garlic on top. The Sal's in West Bend is worth the drive even if Hartford's location is closer to you.

Crispy on the outside and had good cheese pull. The cheeseburger, which had a nice flaky bun, had excellent flavor and is one of the better burgers I've had in the area. It made me sad that I hadn't visited Jim's Place before. I wanted the blue goo flavor of flavor burst, but they were out of it that day, so I went for mint instead. It wasn't super strong like I had hoped, but you could taste the mint. I would probably get a different flavor next time (hopefully they have blue goo available at that point). The gentleman that took my order and made my food (who I assume was Jim?) was very kind. I originally ordered to dine in and switched to to-go as he was bringing my food out because of an urgent matter. He boxed it up for me and never once had an issue with the sudden change. The curds looked like they would be really good, but I couldn't get over how greasy they were on their bottom sides. Each piece was sitting in a pool of grease on the tray and it made the taste a little unpleasant. What a shame. The chicken cordon bleu pizza was exactly how I expected it to be if not better. The crust was chewy, which I enjoyed, and all of the flavors had a chance to shine instead of one dominating the rest. I particularly liked the breadcrumbs on top as they gave the pizza another texture to work with. The chicken could have used a little seasoning, but that's minor. I'd be up for trying other pizzas of theirs as well considering how good this one was.

Our order consisted of two 16" pizzas, one with just cheese and the other half pepperoni, half sausage. The pizzas tasted fine. Neither remarkable or unremarkable. They use a ton of cheese, which I appreciate, though as you can see in the pictures I posted, the sausage and pepperoni may have been a tad skimped on. The crust was cracker like and the outer edges of it got nice and crispy, which is a big plus for me. As you can also see in the pictures, the pizzas were sloppy. The half pepperoni, half sausage ended up having sausage on only a 1/4 of it and the pepperoni was only on the outsides. In addition, the cheese on both pizzas stuck to the crappy paper they used below the crust, leaving paper stuck to the cheese on every piece we took out of the boxes. The meat was easy to adjust by sliding it around, but the paper was annoying and not worth the hassle again.
