Very disappointed recently with work done this year. Paint job sucks and starting to peel and they won't stand behind their work done this year. The vehicle has been in a garage a/c controlled with a very little amount of time outside. There should be a warranty on an expensive paint job! For $90k you'd think the car would be in fairly finished and show condition but in reality it leaks water in the rain and has weird random pieces of metal everywhere for all the hinges to try and get thing to line up but in reality it just looks bad. Also the tailgate doesn't fit right and won't even open. That being said they did do well with some things but again for $90k this is a ripoff read more

I went to Hot Rod and Custom shaft and i spent $10000.00 dollars on an engine rebuild and 1 week later i got a rear main seal leak and the engine was a crate motor ordered by them from O'reilly and it was under warranty and they would not take my phone calls. You want this kind of support, you have been warned. Not to mention the exhaust leak where the exhaust manifold meets the tail pipe that i had to fix. $1,800.00 for a simple locking mechanism for a M1043 Military HMMWV! Outrageous! One of my Marines brought our Marine Corps marketing HMMWV to these guys to get a simple locking mechanism put on all four doors. I was unaware of the purchase until after the crime was already done. I will never go back to this place for custom work on my government marketing vehicles or even my personal owned vehicles. If your looking for custom work I suggest you do the same. read more

Took vehicle in to have valves adjust and new cam broke in. Called and told me they wanted to open front of engine because crank was on TDC and intake valve was open. I explained it was a 4-stroke engine and if they rotate crank 360 degrees both valves would be closed. The response was engine was already at TDC. They finally understood after additional conversation. They recommended intake manifold be replaced. When I picked vehicle up it barely ran with idle set very high to keep it running. Got it home, opened hood and smoke and water every where. Removed valve cover (source of oil leak and smoke) and found gasket had been incorrectly installed. I aligned it properly and leak fixed. Tightened hose clamp and coolant leak stopped. Adjusted idle screws and idle improved but still not right. Took vehicle to another shop that determined the intake gasket was leaking and valves were not adjusted correctly. They billed me for 15.5 hours at $150 hr for doing nothing more than changing intake gasket, setting timing and dwell, and installing valve covers. Took to another shop that did the job correctly for $1,000. Stay far away. read more

I have been a customer of this business for about 7 years and the revenue reaches into the thousands overall. During that span they have worked on different vehicles of mine. Recently, I brought my 60s Mopar in for a manual transmission oil leak. The source of the leak was a stripped out inspection plug cap which they failed to address during a prior rebuild of the transmission. Their prescribed fix was to insert a bolt with rubber tubing around it into the stripped hole and cover it with a freeze plug (about a 1" plug) and glue the plug in( per my request they reused the oil and then charged me $300.00 to put in the 1" freeze plug) the trans stayed in the car and was accessible without removing any other parts . However, the bolt was a little too long and it made contact with the shifting mech inside the trans so after the second time of putting the car in reverse, the bolt was pushed against the inside of the plug, & pushed it out despite their attempted gluing it in, and oil flowed out as the car was preparing to be loaded on a transport truck to New Jersey. The car could not be loaded, the oil covered about 40' of concrete drive, and could not be driven. I designed a fix after on my own in remedy so the car could be moved later. I reached out to the manager "Richard" immediately upon the occurrence of their failed repair which lasted about 2 minutes of the car running. His response was, "well I told you it was a temporary fix" which was not said prior to the repair, and in this case "temporary" was a few minutes. He did refund the repair money. but did not take responsibility for reimbursing me for the lost oil, repair materials, and trucking time to have the interstate truck return for a second loading date, he said he would review the matter and mail me a check, which never happened. Their orig repair was inadequate to say the least for a shop boasting their custom building prowess'. Had the car been loaded and then failed after a trip to the east coast, what would have been the result then? My efforts remedied that from happening, there was no towing or road repair, or other shop costs being involved due to my repairing it on my own. I was asking for about $216 in reimbursement, my direct cost without labor for the fix, which worked. The point is the failed accountability for their work, the potential liability they seem to not realize, the failure to do a simple fix and charge $300 for a freeze plug that got pushed out by their failed design, then not make it right. They chose the remedy, and the ending. I will never go back, If they can't stand up for something this small after a failed repair and many thousands spent there prior, what would it be like if it were something large in dollars? In this context all of their builds and work are temporary. They wouldn't even pay me for the lost oil. I know many of their customers personally which is another factor they seem to have no regard for in their decision to let this matter go bad. Gary read more

Took my 50 merc in a few years ago spent over $100,000 and they did the worst job ever. Cut corners like crazy didn't tighten anything rattles like crazy. Piss poor JOB would never recommend them ever. 1 star rating just because I'm being nice. read more

I had some extensive and expensive work done here. Big shop. Maybe too big. Owners seem to be hands-off. Staff is friendly, but constant follow-up was required. Attention to detail was severely lacking and much rework (at another shop) was required. I felt their work was not up to par considering the premium they charge. I recommend looking elsewhere otherwise, bring a fat wallet, count on everything taking 2-3 times longer than they tell you, sit back and prepare to be disappointed. read more

First off: I don't have a hot rod. What I had was a 2001 Dodge Ram Diesel broken down in the road. The guys from Hot Rods and Custom Stuff came running out to help me. They got my truck up into their parking lot and were really knowledgable and friendly. I am fairly knowledgeable about cars and particularly about my truck. The first thing they suggested was right on target given my symptoms and this particular model. Ian, who is absolutely delightful and never stops laughing, offered to skip his lunch and work on my truck. They were quick to diagnose the problem. They worked together as a team evidently believing that many heads are better than one. They were really charming and sweet. Ian even drove me home when I came by later in the day. This guy is a piece of work overcharged on everything all the small details that a good shop would of taken care of were left just they way it was when the car was taken in-he stuck it in and broke it off. Put it this way the car is worth as much now as they charged for the repairs It should of been a show winner for what was charged Randy is a con artist not a business man.
