This is the second time using their service for my front bumper. I was hit my a drunk driver in Feb 2024 and they did an amazing job repairing my vehicle. Now, May 2024 I am taking it back for a sensor covered under the job warranty. They were more than happy to help. Within 1 hr I recieved a service update as well as a time and date to bring it in. I dropped off an Audi for an estimate after someone scraped the whole left side in a parking lot - nothing major but it looked ugly so I figured I'd go through insurance. I saw the outstanding reviews here on yelp so I chose Car Coat. I haven't signed anything, I was told they'd do an estimate and work with my insurance, also that I'd be informed of any updates immediately. A few days passed, I called, texted, they said nothing yet, rest assured they'd reach out with news. Long story short about two weeks into this I decided to ask again (not even sure if that was in person or over the phone) and they casually asked if nobody had reached out to me as the car was deemed a total loss. Apparently there were missteps on both Car Coat and my insurer's side. The cherry on top was they kept calling me to release the car to Copart otherwise they'd charge me like 4-5k in STORAGE FEES after not letting me know what happened if I wanted the car back (which I did, it was worth way more in parts than the difference in insurance payout if I decided to let it go). I ended up having to let my beloved car go just to get out this hostage situation, but I did reach out to the bureau of automotive repairs and they found things not going by the book with them. They're nice in the office but baiting you and then wanting thousands of dollars cause they pulled a bumper and a mirror off to assess damages while not talking to you about new developments is just terrible business practice. I hope they've gotten better since, but I say beware of them. read more

Very disappointed with the paint job from Car Coat SPB. I paid for the premium paint service and it is worse than I have done in my garage. Also worse than my Maaco paint job- should have gone there. The premium paint job is a two stage paint, base coat and clear overcoat. The base coat was sprayed on way too heavy and looks like cauliflower underneath the clear coat. So, unfortunately, the bad paint work is sealed in. Even as an amateur painter I can tell you that on a two stage paint job, the base coat goes on thin, so that it remains smooth and then the clear coat is put on over that. When you paint the base coat too heavy you get that lumpy orange peel look. I thought maybe they did a bad job with the color sanding of the clear coat, but actually that is OK. The problem is the lumpy/'cellulite like' base coat. Here are a few picture-tough to get the lighting correct. Believe me, it looks worse in person than in the pics and the entire car is like this. Also, there is one pic where they closed the hatch before the paint was dry and totally botched two large spots along the hatch read more

I was referred to Car Coat. I was quoted $685 for the work I wanted. I told Bob that $150 would be given to him from the person who referred me. Therefore I would owe him the difference of $535. However, Bob added the 2 prices and therefore overcharged me $150 and didn't even do 2 panels. I went in on Wednesday, November 6th in the morning to pick up my car. That's when I noticed 1 of the 2 panels failed to be painted. When I asked for 1 of the panels to be done, he charged me additional $$$!!! It was very upsetting! I had to leave my car there even longer and arrange for another ride. I got overcharged and didn't even get all the work done. Bob seemed very disorganized and does not have a good and clear memory. I do think he does outstanding work BUT it was not fun dealing with them! They seemed to rush the job and my car interior was very dirty. You get what you pay for. The presentation when I arrived was horrible. They did not walk me around and pull my car out for me. It was a disaster! Unfortunately, I would not recommend Car Coat. read more

the guys at Car Coat did an amazing job on my Honda Prelude. I had a few songs and debts here and there, including some that were the size of my palm. And now it looks like they were never there. I went with the 2 stage paint, base coat and clear coat. It looks better than when I bought the car 6+ years ago! Orange peel effect is very minimal, if none at all. The only thing else they could have done was color sand, which is wet sanding the clear coat. This would have costed much more but I didn't expect them to do it. I highly recommend these guys. I love about 30 minute drive from Escondido. Although my car took almost 2 weeks to finish, I'm very happy with the results. I'll be recommending everyone to this place. read more

When my car was hit by somebody in a parking lot, I was very nervous about getting my car's body repaired. I had never had such work done before and I didn't want to get taken advantage. I was backing down my driveway and ran into a mature oleander bush that tore off my power mirror and heavily scratched a 10 ft section. Bob's guys did a great job repairing it. Someone did a hit and run on my parked car. It's not worth it to go through through insurance and have my rates go up and it would put a ding on carfax. There's nothing a woman hates more than going to a mechanic or auto body repair place. I had two dents on the side of my Mustang, and was dreading the whole experience of getting it repaired. I told my boyfriend that when it first happened, I was quoted something around $5,000. So, I waited months and months, figuring I'd never worry about getting it repaired. We went to a number of auto body repair shops, telling them we wanted it fixed for below $1,500, even if it wasn't fixed perfect. Some of them gave us quotes of a few thousand dollars, telling us that was the lowest they could go. The cheapest place was near Car Coat, but we weren't show how much we trusted them. When I talked to a mechanic friend that worked nearby, he said they bring all their cars to Car Coat and they're always happy with the work they do. We figured we'd get a quote, and...they were just a tad cheaper. So we went with Car Coat. The woman working the desk was great. She was friendly, came out and looked at the car, asked a few pertinent questions, and gave us a quote. We expressed concern for having the car fixed in 3 days, and she crunched some numbers, and said she could. We brought it in...expecting it to take a lot longer, and expecting them to say there would be more charges they didn't anticipate. Nope. It was finished early in the day. The price stayed the same. We talked to the owner, who was also friendly, but more important -- the dang thing looked brand new!!! We were expecting to see some discoloration on the paint, as we didn't want the whole panel removed and repaired like brand new. Within a couple weeks of each other, my daughter got rear ended in her Mini Cooper, as well as, I damaged the front end of our BMW 550.
