While visiting my BFF in Tx decided to get a French manicure and pedicure. German technician indicated she suggests square nail cut, I said no round but she insisted square would look best, she proceeded to add what she said was a protective coating without asking me as I talk with my friend. I determine later that evening she applied gel to my already long and healthy nails. This forced me into paying more to have the soaked off once I return home. 2 of the nsils had already began to chip, from this so call protective coating. Missleading customer service and square nails ended up being cut after 2 days because corners to sharp. Different technicians did a fantastic job, gave exactly what I ask for and pedicure looks great 3wk later. So, my manicure ended costing three time as much as pedicure, with unwanted so call protective coat, purchasing nail clippers and emery board then removal once I return from vacation. She does her white french sets with acrylic powder instead of the white glue on tips (first time for me) and her technique is so good. Took less than an hour but enjoyed chatting with her. This place was horrible. If I could give it 0 stars I would. I called ahead of time to see if they had time for my friend and I to get manicures. We got there around 5 pm and didn't get out of there until closer to 8pm. And before you say "oh that's not so bad", just listen. I got there already having dip and tips on my nails, instead of soaking them off like my normal salon does, the lady proceeds to RIP THEM OFF MY NAILS!!! Before she starts on my other hand I stop her and she puts tinfoil on them to soak. While I was waiting for my nails to soak, they started on my friends nails. Not only were they different colors on each hand because the layers weren't even, they broke in less than 2 hours!!! I sat there for an hour waiting for someone to attend to my nails because when we called they said they had time for both of us, but I sat there for an hour with acetone on my nails while they did my friends. Not sure why the bad reviews. I used to live near this salon 10 years ago and used it weekly under different ownership. I loved it then and still love it now. I live in the Uptown area of Dallas and it's been difficult to find a salon that does a consistently good job. Plus the Uptown area is way pricier. Every time I go to Hot Nails they do a stellar job on my cuticles and paint job. It's clean, they're sweet, my nails look fabulous and it's very reasonably priced. I got a gel manicure and a pedicure yesterday. I'm very pleased! read more

Please do not go here, this place is terrible. I came for a simple dip and Christmas design and they botched me. First they were hesitant but said they could do it, mid way through the session they asked me to pick out which stickers I wanted to be placed on my nails. Clearly I didn't come to a nail salon for stick on nails. Then when I saw they had done a terrible job with the designs I asked her to just do a simple candy cane striped design, she immediately clapped and got happy I made her job easier. You'd think she would be able to do simple lines across my nails, lines were totally uneven._. My nail job cost me $45 just to find out I will never be back here again, for $15 more bucks I will be going to Ulux in Downtown Dallas next time. My partners nails were $15 cheaper and she got tips! Her tech also did a poor job, my partner asked for no dip and midway through the appointment the tech starts dipping the nails! How does that make sense? Pictures attached. I don't recommend this place at all. My mom got her eyebrows waxed here and they took off half of her left eyebrow. And...she had a burn from the wax. The original owners sold the place a while back and it has really gone down since then. It might look a bit nice but it's not worth the money or time. They have messed up on my nails many times. I'm convinced that some of those people have absolutely no idea what to do with nails. One guy got a nail file and tried buffing my nails with it! They don't have basic knowledge on their own tools. My love for this place started New Year's Eve 15 years ago. I got off of work late and the place I went to at the time was closed early. I drove around desperate looking for a place that might be open with no luck. On my way home I saw the lights on at Hot Nails so I decided to walk in. The staff was already gone and the owner Van had her purse in arm ready to lock the door. Instead of turning me away she welcomed me with open arms even though I wasn't a regular customer and had never been there before. I truly haven't been anywhere else since. I have been going to Hot Nails for years. It is not a fancy salon, but I am always greeted by name and receive a good manicure and pedicure. I am very picky about nail salons and the quality of their service and Hot Nails always does a good job. I have seen about every technician in there and have no complaints. I would say I wish that they would get more of a selection of nail colors. They do not have very many exciting colors, but what they do have, does the job. I am back at Hot Nails. Wendy is taking great care of everything. I have a ginormous interview tomorrow. She gave me a wonderful, hot, pedicure with a long foot massage and putting accupressure on my stressed soles. For nails, full set was flawless. For work, I have to wear a conservative shade like beige or nude or light pink. She did my tips just wide enough, and just oval enough that I can still type like a boss and have just-right nails for any interview. I also got my eyebrows waxed. Again, perfect and all the strays gone. I just build my eyebrow out with some powder and a creamy liner and feather for the day. All for $50. I've been coming here for 4 plus years. I settled on the short list of colors and sometimes having to wait because they were short staffed. Over the years I've seen the owner give discounts to regular customers while my bill is never the same for the same work. Yes, I asked once and had no real answer. And yes. I kept coming. I've always been patient but today I finally had enough. I sat and waited at a chair with no water for 30 minutes. A woman walked in. A regular and she sits. Gets water set right away then 10 minutes later her pedicure starts. Then two women walk in. Again one gets service right away. I'm still just sitting. Waiting to at least have water to soak my feet. A new lady comes in asking pricing and shes told to come in. They start on her right away. What, why, maybe it's time yo find my new place where a regular loyal customer means better treatment.
