Lucky for us, we just so happened to be here for Happy Hour, which offered a slightly cheaper price for the food we were planning to order. I wanted to try this place because I was looking for a good place to get fried chicken, and my wife is a wing fan. I got the chicken tender platter with spicy honey mustard and was blown away by how awesome everything tasted. My wife got two orders of seven wings each so we could get two sauces: the thai peanut and classic buffalo. They were both amazing, not too skimpy, good texture, chicken itself had good flavor! Even things like the ranch and bleu cheese dressings were done well, and getting tater tots was a treat I hadn't had since school days. So as far as the food goes, it was superb. As for the service, it too left nothing to be desired. The waiter knew the beers, helped me pick one that turned out to be exactly what I was looking for(wild hazy ipa). How have I not been to Hot Mama's sooner? I had tried their Oakway Center location but I loved my experience here. It's a small spot with a little enclosed patio on the side and a front patio on the sidewalk. There's a bar inside, booths and tall tables with TVs on the walls for watching the game. Our server was awesome and I loved that we were able to try the different sauces before committing to a few. We ordered the 21 wings and a soft pretzel for the four of us to share. We were able to get 3 sauces and they were all so good! Each sauce has a different spice level and they all have really great flavor to them. I loved the raspberry habanero and the chile lime cilantro but even the Asian honey mustard was great. I think I loved them all. The only disappointing thing was that I ordered one of their Kentucky mule cocktails and the Ginger beer was completely flat. I called in an order for their Wings and Tater Tots but got stuck in traffic and was late getting there which meant that my order was sitting there for a while, and then I had to drive to Creswell which is like 20 minutes away which meant that my order was pretty cold by the time I got to eat it. I want to give a special tip of the cap to Hot Mama's Wings because I showed up here as part of a group with two sugar-addled toddlers after a Christmas party cookie binge. We were in the outdoor space, which we had all to ourselves, and the server was so nice as the kids ran roughshod over everything and were complete terrors. Heard good things about this place, so we went yesterday to experience it. We currently have family visiting from another country and thought this would be a great "try out." Let me start by saying this place has its own vibe, very small space/seating. We were a party of 11 and they do not accept reservations. We were on their outside patio for a good 30 minutes until tables in the inside opened. The waiter started out as very helpful and attentive. Once we were able to move inside, it was a different story. 2 things were awful: My Mom's and Sister-in-law's fish and chips were soggy. Yuck! And our waiter decided it would be ok not to pay attention to his table of 11. My Mom told him in the beginning that it would be separate checks, he did not listen. When he brought the check, I asked him to split it up. He simply stated to initial on the receipt who will be paying what and will take payment there. If you ask me, people go out to relax and not worry about nonsense like splitting up our own bill! Ridiculous. I see it as him being lazy and not doing his job. So I asked for his Manager since he decided to give me attitude when I told him this was a problem. She apologized, but continued to have us initial and itemize our own check! It was over $200 worth of food and you want us to itemize our OWN CHECK? I couldn't believe it. Because of this, we will not be returning. I will gladly go to Buffalo Wild Wings and get my Asian Zing sauce with respectful Managers and waiters. The only thing good about Hot Mama's Wings...their thai peanut sauce. The wings here are very tasty. There are lots of sauce options, ranging in different heat levels. I had the raspberry/habanero. They were sweet and had a decent burn. Although, they were not as hot as I expected. The man do/habanero at B Dubbs is much hotter. What I didnt like is the fact that I wanted a 10 piece and to split it in 2 different flavors. They dont allow this option, which I find a little annoying. Because I could order 2 different 7 pieces. Whats the diff? I also had the fried dill pickles. They were very good as well. We are huge hot mamas fans in my household, but I just spent 55 dollars on this food, got home to eat it and man, what a disappointment. The wings were almost uneatable from being so over cooked. I've never tasted something so dry in my life and that was with everyone's food. The Mac and cheese was the only good thing about the meal. You guys seriously have the best wings in town (in my opinion) but whoever is cooking them right now needs to take them out of the fryer at least 15 minutes earlier. I came in for an order I called in. I walked up to the bar to pick up my order. I had to ask to be serviced and it seemed like I was an inconvenience to them. I promptly paid and tipped in cash and waited for my order. When I did get my order (which wasn't a long wait time). I thanked the server and wished her a wonderful day. Her response was "I will" not thank you or you too, simply "I will". I was absolutely appalled. I am in town from Las Vegas and was recommend to the location. Other reviews of the wings seem adequate, so I'll cover some other stuff, like the chili, a hidden treasure, unexpectedly spicy, and reminiscent of the stuff for which Cincinnati is famous. Loved it! After reading all of the raving reviews on yelp I convinced my husband that we had to go to Hot Mama's! Him and I were both fairly shocked that we had never noticed Hot Mama's as we drive past the place almost daily. That being said, the marketing needs work and without knowing the place is there it's difficult to find. We walked in and there was a wait. My husband and I didn't mind the wait, but what bothers me about any service industry is a lack of communication. You should greet, let them know how long of a wait is to be expected and maybe even let them know you'll be right back to see if they want a beer while waiting in line. None of that went down - and I have to say this is pretty commonplace in Eugene. After waiting about 20 minutes we were seated with a food menu. Waters were brought shortly afterwards but our waitress wouldn't come for another 10 minutes. She arrived and we ordered a drink and an appetizer that was okay...however, it wasn't jalapeño poppers...it was some sort of hot red pepper with medium-crappy sauce for dipping. The appetizer was brought out by the cook so we didn't get to make our dinner order for another 20 minutes. Typically when I go anywhere for the first time I'm cognizant of the time for future reference. Sometimes it's great to get out and enjoy a leisurely eat but other times you've got places to go! Once we ordered our food it only took about 15 minutes to come out. My husband ordered the chipotle sauce and I ordered the root beer (I always get hot wings but the non-jalapeño poppers had my mouth on fire so I ordered sweet wings). I don't like root beer but the wings were good, it wasn't too much of a root beer taste (impulse buy/I was pretty sure my husband would love them). The only disappointment with my wings was that they weren't grilled. I had forgotten to ask and the waitress didn't offer a choice. The chipotle wings, on the other hand, were just plain gross.
