Where do I even begin... this was my first time traveling into MX for veterinary medical services for my doggie. I hope my experience can help anyone who finds themselves in a similar situation. We have a 7-year-old Golden Retriever, who suddenly stopped eating or intaking any fluids, I visited a vet clinic in Norco Ca., that was opened near me on New Years Eve 2023. After a very pricy $$$ exam that only included a Dr. Visit & X-rays, no bloodwork or meds. The only treatment plan provided was to do surgery for possible foreign body obstruction and the only solution was to do surgery. The quoted cost was well over $10k. We found ourselves researching with very limited time and resources due to the holiday not many clinics were opened. We were desperate and tried to negotiate with the two local Animal ER in the IE. Only to be told that if could not afford the surgery, the other option would be euthanasia. Our hearts were broken to say the least. I reached out to rescues; I mean I messaged people on Yelp to get their feedback. We wanted to save our little angel. My husband suggested we seek vet care in MX, so we began researching for veterinarians in MX. And that is when we found Hospivet!!! Decided to drive down there on New Years Day stayed in a hotel that accepted pets :) I reached out to them on New Years Day and to our surprise they responded. They said to come in first thing in the morning. We believe Dra. Andrea Mayorquin and Hospivet staff saved our dog life. Dra. Andrea Mayorquin recommended a treatment plan; she was thorough and addressed any concerns we had. She also took the time to call in and check in with us yesterday. Our dog is alive and well, and it is all thanks to the care and dedication of Dr. Andrea Mayorquin and Hospivet Staff. I saw and spoke to other pet parents who travel from the states into MX only to visit Hospivet for their pet care medical needs. We strongly recommend their medical services. Very clean and professional when it comes to appointments. They did an amazing job removing my 14 year old dog tumor on his Paw with no problems. My pitbull need 3 skin tumor removed so we brought her here and the dr here was very honest and they did her blood work and surgery same day to avoid back and forth. I highly recommend this place. The dr also seen my pitbull had high anxiety and asked if we can pick her up sooner after surgery because they didn't want her stressed. Yes they are professional and caring Vets! I will continue going to them. Prices were honest, if you think everything in TJ is way cheap then you get cheap, you must be realistic. Yes it was a significant cost difference than US but in total after amputation, lab work, 1-week of boarding I would say cost of was about 40% less. But more was the care and friendly customer service. They truly love animals and love their profession. Our Pomeranian had a growth requiring amputation, they explained the entire procedure to us in English and Spanish and took the time to put us at ease over the procedure. While under anesthesia they also snipped a few other growths. We left our on a Sunday and picked her up the next weekend. We called daily and they put us on FaceTime and sent us pics of how she was doing. Definitely use this Veterinary clinic, they are knowledgeable, modern, and know Vet care! They took blood and ran exams and did a proper exam at his physique, Nicko had gastritis and a bout of a sour stomach and they gave him his prescription right there and then! They were wonderful wonderful people! So close to the border and so easy! I recommend this place! I found Hospivet by luck when I was going towards the sentri line. I have been going there for a year now and I have never received any less than the best service. I take all 3 of my dogs and have never had any issues. It's way more affordable than in the states and the doctors are very knowledgeable. Not to mention the ladies in the front desk are super nice. I unfortunately lost one of my pups and they were wonderful taking care of arrangements. I will continue to visit Hospivet as long as they have time for my furbabies. read more

The day before Christmas Eve, our 13 year old chocolate lab was diagnosed with a mast cell tumor on her face that had already spread to her lymph node. Because of the advanced stage and the nature of this malignancy to spread quickly, I needed to get her in for an oncology consult right away. None of the vet offices in California within 100 miles had an appointment for several weeks and we didn't have that kind of time if there was any chance of successful medical intervention. Fortunately, I remembered one of my friends talking about how much she loved her vet in Tijuana so I contacted her and she was able to schedule a consult for us at Hospivet just 3 days later. Our dog was evaluated by Dra. Priscilla and surgery was scheduled for the following week. I was beyond impressed by her knowledge and her understanding and accommodation of our dire situation. Because of the size and location of the tumors, it was a pretty major surgery but the surgeon did a masterful job. 2 weeks later, the large incisions are completely healed and if it weren't for the blue color of the remaining stitches, one would not even be able to tell that my girl just had that major surgery. We will return tomorrow for follow up to see the pathology results and determine the best treatment plan moving forward. Regardless of the eventual outcome, I feel 100% confident knowing that the doctors took the best possible action given the diagnosis and our dog's advanced age. After researching costs for similar surgery, testing, and medication here in the US, we estimate that we ended up paying about 1/8 of what it would have cost closer to home in Carlsbad. The front office staff has been very friendly and helpful and they are taking the same social distancing precautions as the businesses here in the US. I would absolutely recommend Hospivet and particularly Doctora Priscilla to anybody willing to cross the border for their pet's veterinary needs! read more

My fur baby means the world to me so bringing him to a new clinic & in Mexico (USA prices are ridiculous) was pretty scary but the reviews weren't wrong at all! I loved this place so much! Daniela treated my Dog like one of her own. My dog is 7years old & I took him to get his teeth cleaned. Daniela was super helpful she explained every little detail, was honest & sweet!! Let me start with how clean and friendly the staff is here. The moment you walk in front desk staff was super friendly. This clinic recently open in August and everything is new and super clean. I live is San Pedro, CA so I am a pretty far from this veterinarian clinic but it's Honestly wroth the drive. I found this veterinarian clinic by searching yelp and was in desperate need of a vet clinic that can do a MRI for my dog Wolfy. I have a vet in San Pedro but our vet kept giving me the run around on wolfy condition and I felt stress seeing me poor Wolfy health in his back legs loosing strength. Now neurologist in the USA are expensive and MRI are outrageously expensive which was overwhelming me because my Wolfy really needed it done to figure out what's going on. So I decided to head to TIjuana to find a great clinic and doctor which I did! Dr. Priscilla hands down the BEST veterinarian doctor I have ever met! You can tell she cares and loves what she does. I expanded to her Wolfy history and what was going on with him and she gave Wolfy a full exam and explained in detail what's test needed to be done in order to get the results in his condition. Wolfy had blood work, x-rays and a MRI done. Now I would go into details on his condition but it will take me forever to write, what I honestly want to write about is Dr. Priscilla and her team. They are the real deal and I hope the service never changes, she well educated and she loves her job and gives you 100% when it comes to your fur baby!!! My fur baby means the world to mean and I trust her and her team with the care of my pets. Worth the drive to have peace of mind and answers to the health of my fur baby. The doctors here are all very knowledgeable and caring. They do everything from vaccines to surgeries. We've been here multiple times and they've always done a great job with our pets. The prices are a fraction of what you would pay in San Diego. All the doctors speak English really well so you don't have to know any Spanish to come. There's plenty of parking available both in their parking lot and on the street. If you don't have Global Entry or SENTRI pass, you can ask them for a medical pass to cross back faster. read more

The newest and best Veterinarian in Tijuana, Met Veterinarian Priscilla a few years ago when she was just getting started working at a different place. She's always loving and caring to our dogs and would always remember our dogs name even if she saw us in the waiting room. We lost contact with her for a few years but that was because she went back to Veterinary school. On a random day we ran into her and she told us she was opening her own Veterinary. We recently went and took our dogs for check ups. The service was amazing as expected from Vet Priscilla. She allowed for both our dogs to get a check up at the same time and cleaned both their ears while they were there. Prices are GREAT(they accept credit cards, cash USA dollars and pesos of course) compared to USA prices and we were in and out. I was deceived into believing this was a reputable clinic based on pictures from their website and comments from previous clients. When searching on Google this clinic comes up in the top 5 of Tijuana Mexico. My Maltese was diagnosed with an enlarged gallbladder due to the presence of mucocele. We drove from Sacramento to Hospivet in hopes of treatment and additional testing. The place is hard to find and the clinic is nothing like the pictures on their website. You are greeted in the parking lot. You are not allowed inside the clinic with your pet. You are asked to pay upfront from a sliding drive-thru window. After I picked up my pet, I was told my results would be sent in a few days via email. It took 2 weeks to get results. The medication I received was prescribed solution orally, however, the local pharmacies in Tijuana only provided it in tablets. Dr. Melissa is not communicative at all. I tried calling her several times, always busy her staff would take messages, and calls were never returned upon confronting her about this issue on my next appointment she claimed she never received any messages. According to her the best way to communicate was via email. I have emailed and been calling her fr the last 2 weeks with no response, my little one almost died the prescribed medication was the wrong one for her condition. I ended up paying $6500 for her surgery and correcting the wrongdoing by Dr. Melissa. Please watch out read more

Let me begin by stating before we decide to take our Rottweiler to TJ, we came to a vet in spring valley. Our Girl coco began to have problems walking with her back leg at first. Then as quickly as the issue began, she then began to refuse to eat, then vomiting and she just wasn't herself. Because of how quickly everything happened with her health, we took her to this location in San Diego. Paid $1500 for blood work, X-rays, ultrasound etc. The end result was she had a UTI and no explanation for her ability stop walking with her back leg. So we went home with medication we never were able to pick up, due to the vet giving us the wrong MG for her treatment. We'll then within a week, our baby got worse. I began researching looking for a vet in TJ. This place had exceptional reviews and it's close to the border. I called and they were booked but because of how serious our baby was. They called me and were able to squeeze us in: we made the trip. I wish I could say this story has a happy ending. But we were to late. The doctor admitted her immediately to their hospital. Explained the process and what test would be done along with prices. They did all the same lab work, along with admitting her over night with a caregiver to monitor her. All this cost was $397!!! After we left, they called notifying us what was happening and her condition. She passed away at 9:30pm that night. They gave us more answers in a few hours then a VET IN SAN DIEGO could give us. The time and dedication they showed us, along with the compassion and empathy when we lost our coco. I'm grateful and know they did everything they could to save her. We were just to late. Thank you to everyone there for helping us through the next step process and being so patient and understanding. I highly recommend anyone to bring their pets here. I recently switched over from VetPlayas. This place has been excellent. Very clean, good prices and runs on time. Dr. Priscilla was amazing, you could tell she really cares about the pets she treats. She took her time to answer all my questions and address my concerns. took my 10 year old dog Pebbles in for a check up before her teeth cleaning and she found a subtle heart murmur. She made sure to do all the correct tests to make sure she was safe and able to handle the anesthesia safely. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. They are also really close to the entrance for the Sentri lane. I am happy to have them as my pets vet. read more

The doctors here are better than in the US. They discovered an infection in the kidneys and saved my cat where in the US at Banfield they just told me he had kidney disease and wasnt going to live much longer so there was nothing to do other than leave him with them on fluids for ridiculous amounts of dollars. Instead the doctors at Hospivet got to the bottom of it, gave him the best treatment, follow up, and at best prices. She really even researched more things to make sure she was giving me the best treatment options. They are really busy so they dont always call you back on time so you have to call them again; but other than that their service is excellent!! read more

I have no words for this place. Here is what happened . After running a routine blood test on one of my dogs , the results indicated that there is a suspicion for a parasite. So they ran an antigen (4DX test $50 in US dollars) test for 4 differnet parasites. The results were done in 15 minutes and the Doctor came out to talk to me. She showed me the test , and even though it looked negative, she showed me by shining a light on the back of it showing that it was faintly positive for a heartworm. She then said that I needed to do another PCR heartworm DNA test that will confirm the fact. The test cost was $140 in US money. The blood was "sent" to Mexico City lab and the resluts came back in a week. The doctor called me and told me that my dog is positive for heartworm and that he needs to have an echocardiogram (another $240 in US) to see how far the damage to the heart there is. After getting the news that my baby has a heartworm, my world just dropped. This is one of the worst things that can happen to your pet as the treatment last several months to a year, involves painful arsenic injections, involves sedating your dog for months in order for the heart muscle to recover and for the dog not die from the parasite die off load. Basically, the treatment can kill or damage your dog's health and the other option is the parasite kills your dog. I am devastated at this point and do massive research, join supoort groups for that and cannot sleep because I cannot make a decision about what treatment option to take. I do decide that if I am to do the western treatment that I will do it here in the US. I send emails to Hospivet requesting PCR results to be sent to me, I get no reply. I call 5 more times requesting the same thing and to speak with the doctor. No one calls me back and no results either. I start getting suspicious and I take my dog to the vet here and get the tests done again . They run the heartworm antigen test and the microfilaria test. They came back NEGATIVE! My dog doesnt have the heartworm. My dog doesnt need the expensive and potentially deadly treatment they wanted to sell. You can draw the conclusion for yourself here. Best veterinarian clinic and hospital. My friend referred me and I brought my 17 yr old chihuahua that needed emergency surgery to remove a cancerous tumor. From the beginning they were very professional and caring. More so than the vets in the US sad to say. They kept my dog for 2 nights and I was able to go call after hours and check on her. She had a private vet tech and an veterinarian MD with her for the first night. Prices in the US are ridiculously expensive, I get they have to pay their overhead and salaries but when you have per that needs major emergency surgery and they quote you in the US over $3000 it almost gives you no hope and you're placed with having to make a life & death choice for your pet. I paid 80% less here for surgery, ultrasounds, x rays, medication, antibiotics and private overnight ICU care with a Vet MD. That's right do the math. I was able to take an Uber or a taxi as soon as I crossed the border that's how close they are to the border about 5-7 mins away. I walked right back across because it was much faster . Ask for a medical pass when you're at the vet it's an extra fee but you get to jump to the front of the border crossing line. Don't overthink and stop ready all the negative reviews about Mexico. We were treated well but they had us looking for red herrings and running all kinds of tests post-surgery when the whole time the surgery was so poorly done that it's ending in amputation because it can't even be repaired.
