this place is UNDERRATED, I have taken my dogs and friends dog here. They took good care of them, the prices are REASONABLE as compared to other vet hospitals in TJ i've been to like Saji which is overpriced. Even the meds are at reasonable prices here while in the other hospital it was almost 300 pesos higher in price for the same med. For a ER visit I would recommend this place for your dogs. The only thing i didn't like is that they don't have a vet over night but if it's too urgent then i would pay the extra fee and go to a 24 hour one. However I would recommend this place read more

If there is a negative star I would give it to this place. This is the worst Animal Hospital I have been to ever, and I have been to many. They have the worst service, the worst communication, and the worst doctors. I took my cat for a procedure with Dr. Hector Del Riego and the cat developed some complications after the procedure. I told him that I'm noticing his reaction to specific type of medications he is giving my cat, but he insisted it is not, the cat was getting worse, but at the same time the Doctor insisted and even "Promised" that the cat will get better within a couple of days. I had huge doubts about that; therefore, I insisted on doing bloodwork for the cat, but the doctor didn't do it until the cat completely collapsed. He waited 4 days of intensive care to actually take some action. He has no empathy or care for your pet, and he doesn't take your concerns seriously. In addition, the hospital almost doesn't provide any communication. Every time I send a message I barely get an answer with no clear information. I started having doubts about their transparency; therefore, I started going there to check and get any answers from the doctors. Still, most of the answers were always vague and not clear. My cat was totally fine before and shortly after the procedure, but when my cat started showing serious complications from certain medications given to the cat, the Doctors would not do anything about it. They just keep your pet on painkillers and steroids without doing any type of tests, such as bloodwork, or x-rays, to see what is going wrong or run any daily analysis of the situation. Very unprofessional. They killed my cat and he had no systematic issues whatsoever. read more

He left my pet die and kept telling me that the pet is in stable condition and will be good to go home in a couple of days, although the pet was slowly dying. He kept promising me that the cat is fine and just going through some side effects of the surgery, despite my deep concerns. BIG LIAR!! ZERO TRANSPARENCY!! I don't have any explanation but either this doctor has no knowledge at all in the veterinary field or he is super careless and has no empathy at all. Regarding the hospital, the only thing this hospital cares about is your money. I have never heard of a hospital that will charge you for the can of food when your pet is getting hospitalized. We witnessed how 2 clients came in to pick up their pets: the answer from the front desk AND veterinarian was that since they came in after the visit/patient discharge hours, the would have to schedule an appointment for the following day (pay another day of stay) if they wanted to pick up their pets. Increasingly pricy. We were charged over 8000 pesos (over 400 dlls) for a minor surgery. Same day out. The staff, including the vets were Increasingly rude. My dog Chase was attacked by a coyote in our back yard this morning. Luckily my husband scared the coyote off and the wounds were superficial. I took my dog to Vet playas (since he had been seen there twice). They examined him and said that he's stable and they would try to get him seen around 1:00. it was about 9:30 am. I had had a couple of negative experiences with them and tried to give them the benefit of the doubt, but I will never return there. Thank God I called Chapultepets and they answered the phone right away and said they could see him as soon as we got there. Excellent customer service. The vet took her time to keep Chase as calm as possible. The price was very fair as well. I truly appreciate for the care they gave him today. Thank you so much Chapultepets! read more

My pup Daisy at 12 weeks dislocated her leg/elbow which required surgery. At a recommendation of a coworker in San Diego we took our pup here. Daisy stayed for 4 days. Xrays/Meds/stay and surgery was around $800. US vets wanted 7k. A 15min cab ride across the border was well worth it. Daniella sent us pics of our pup each day..so sweet. ZERO STARS_ Do not take your pets here! Our female American bully was having complications giving birth to her litter. We took her there to get a C-Section. They did an ultrasound where they can hear the puppies heart beat and instead of getting them out right away they were more worried about our payment which we had to get the money out of ATM, gave them $200 down and assured we would pay the rest. Long story short they got paid, they waited too long and none of the puppies survived. The staff was laughing and were horrible. Worst experience of our lives. read more

I am very happy with the kindness of the two gentlemen working tonight. My cat apparently developed cataracts which is rare in kitties, so I had never seen it before. They developed very quickly, it was scary. Last night when he wouldn't eat, I thought he might be in pain and that I couldn't wait for Monday. Being a Saturday night I knew I couldn't afford a 24 hr. clinic in the U.S. For $32 my cat got a comprehensive exam. They were clear about the cost of labs, ($100-150, very reasonable), but since my cat is not in any pain and cataracts are irreversible, they said it was optional, which I appreciated. They scheduled a follow up for a week from now. I am happy with my service and the facilities, and the price. read more

The first thing the RECEPTIONIST said was " we don't have any surgeons, your dog needs to stay and she will have surgery tomorrow... I said : why would she need surgery If no doctor has checked her!!! Male Doctor comes out , tries to explain why she needs to stay in intensive care and that I should make my decision in 20 mins before the lab closes. Made no sense for a HOSPITAL that closes at 12am, close their lab at 10. I tried asking more questions but apparently their gossip and talking to each other was more important ... They made me feel if I don't leave her there my dog was going to have complications and die.. If you are a pet owner , and your pet is sick, you want to feel like they are in good hands and that ALL of your questions are answered and you want to hear options... This was total opposite! I decided to go with my gut , and took her to another hospital where I immediately felt that my dog was going to be in good hands. The staff at VET- PLAYAS Hospital were the sweetest! DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET. They are not equipped to do lab work or attend to pets with emergencies. I hospitalized my dog there and they didn't do any tests until 4 days later which had to be taken to an outside lab. I didn't even get the lab results until a week after they let my dog die only after I called to follow up. Based on their own hypothesis, my baby had a chance but they weren't competent enough to do lab work early on so they could start the right treatment or continue the one his vet in the US recommended. They don't know what they're doing or they don't care to save pets lives. NO LLEVEN A SU MASCOTA AQUI. No tienen laboratorio para atender a mascotas con emergencias. Yo hospitalize a mi perro y no le hicieron examenes hasta 4 dias despues. Me dieron sus resultados una semana despues de que dejaron morir a mi perrito y solo porque yo les llame. Tuve que exigirles que me regresaran a mi perrita. TODOS los que trabajan ahi NO SON VETERINARIOS, no saben nada puro escuincle irresponsable. Mantienen a tu perro enfermo ahi POR DINERO SOLAMENTE, y no se hacen responsables. Te muestran analisis que ni siquiera te consta que son de tu perro. Me dijeron que estaba mas o menos bien, pero cuando la saque y la lleve a otro en donde tienen camaras y me permiten entrar con mi perro (sin importar el falso virus del Covid), y dijeron que la entregaron con dano renal terminal. I have read some of the reviews on here and it makes me sad that I see negative ones.. I have nothing but great things to say... great can't describe how grateful I am to staff they saved my frenchies life.. they where so kind and loving and informative and attentive... my puppy loves them I think he know they saved his life... a vet here in the us had already suggested we put our dog Benz to sleep after hitting us with a crazy bill only to say they didn't think he would make it.. we took our baby home and prayed he would make it through the night.. at the crack of dawn we took off to Tj in hopes that maybe he might make it not knowing what to expect someone had recommended them to us... Chapultepets took our baby had him in intensive care and provided updates for us we prayed and prayed the 2nd day in the morning we received a call that Benz had got up to eat on his own ... I love them God bless them !!! After that he got better and he was seeing a cardiologist there to make sure his little heart was okay and he didn't have complications... I have took my friends there in time of need and have always seen the same treatment .. I cannot ever put a price on them saving my baby Benz so grateful... crazy part is that my bill was so small I couldn't believe it I always give them extra money when I take both my dogs for everything.. thank you so much god bless read more

Don't take your pets to this vet. My cat's case was something simple and treatable and I left my cat overnight and the next day they did not call me and when I arrive with my six years old they toll me she was gone. I'm sure she'd still be alive if I had taken her to a different place, I feel so terribly guilty for living my cat in this terrible clinic. No lleven a sus mascotas a esta veterinaria. I feel like this clinic was very unprofessional schedule my pet to get surgery I ended getting a time a date when I came to the first appointment. Good thing I called to confirm the appointment but then was told they did not input my pet on to the schedule and there nothing they can do. I'm more mad that I had to call off work from the hospital and clinic and lost a days pay. I feel like they should train the office staff a little more so this situation does not happen again like distracted in conversation with other employees when you are helping a client. I know for a fact that people travel long distance just to take there pet to a vet, so my advise to anyone if you make any appointment get it in writing and the name of the person that made it. read more

Don't let them practice on your Loved Ones. Took my Dog in as he had a large lesion on the back of his neck. They took blood and Tested. Treated for Erlichia. He had a Highly Treatable Cancer. Medication given by these Barbie Vets. Prolonged a Biopsy for 3 weeks. My Friend died 2 days after I received the Results. I had him tested by another Vet. As this test should have been the first thing they suggested. He Suffered and Died on my floor in my House. This did not have to happen. They admitted that had never seen or did they know what the lesion was from. The Low Platelets in his blood was from Cancer, not Erlichia. The lack of Knowledge and Lack of Supervision puts this place in a Malpractice Lawsuit.. It is about Quantity Not Quality. I still have the young Girls voice in my head. Llevamos a mi perro con parvo el martes por la tarde y el miércoles que hicimos la visita a las 12pm lo encontramos deshidratado, letargo, manchado de vomito, babeando y con mas de 24 horas sin comer. Mi perro estaba bien cuando lo dejamos el martes. Por negligencia de los veterinarios y del staff mi perro quedo en estado muy critico, cuando lo vimos en este estado inmediatamente lo dimos de alta y lo llevamos a otra veterinaria, donde nos explicaron que a los perros con parvo virus se les tiene que dar suero 24 hrs y forzarles la comida para evitar deshidratación y otras complicaciones. Pedimos el historial médico para saber a que hora le habían dado sus medicinas (si es que se las dieron) y nos lo negaron, pedimos el nombre de los veterinarios que lo atendieron y administración también nos negó esa información. Took my cat there because he was a sick for a couple of days. As i was paying the man ran my credit card and had to manually entered in the amount to charge my card and added 1 too many zeros in pesos. As soon as he realized he made a mistake he tried to then issue a refund a few times but the little card machine wouldn't accept the refund. I called my bank and explained and they stated they would look out for the charge if it ever posts and (it should take up to 5 days) and we will try to get it really reversed. It did post to my account 6 days later so I disputed it with them. They asked to see all my receipts of the charge and the times he tried to refund it but the receipts are not that legible (super tiny print) and therefore they won't on the dispute so they can't help me. I go back to the vet to show them it went they my account and asked for the refund and they gave many excuses as to how they're credit card systems work in Mexico and said they would call me back and now they won't contact me. We've called them many times but they keep saying they will look into it and get back to me. They are avoiding me. I even showed them that I paid for the bill in cash, $48 since their machine broke. They refuse to give me my $450.00 back. read more
