Very professional, affordable and honest. I ended up working with both veterinarians, Alejandra and Sara, and I had a great experience. My first visit resulted in a blood test for the dental cleaning plus a biopsy on a growth on the side of my dog's abdomen. They were communicative and informed me that the growth was a benign fatty tumor and did not need to be removed unless I wanted it to; I appreciated their honesty about that. I took my dog in a week later and they completed the dental cleaning in about 3 hours which included 6 extractions. The whole procedure went very well and was very affordable. I came to Hospivet because vet procedures in the U.S. can be really expensive, and honestly I didn't fully know what to expect besides what I had seen online. But I had a really good experience. The staff was super friendly and professional, and you can tell they genuinely care about the animals and want to help. That made a huge difference for me. It is an excellent vet and close to the border in Zona Urbana Rio. They mostly speak English which is helpful as well. I took my dog there to be evaluated by a cardiologist in August (they have one that comes from Mexico City a couple times a month). She had a heart murmur and needed to be evaluated but in the USA it was going to cost $800 to $900. Hospivet charged me $215 and with the medications prescribed it was around $370 ($103 for Pimobendan and $48 for Ramipril). I would like to return in a few months to get her teeth cleaned under anesthesia if my dog can handle the procedure with her heart. It is a little difficult to get there with Uber so I would put in Facil Rent a car address which is a neighboring business next time (that is, iI can get my phone to to work - the network is spotty in TJ with Verizon and it hardly worked at all with AT&T). read more

We crossed the border for treatment due to it being way too expensive in the U.S. we paid a fraction of the cost it would have cost back home. I'd give 100 stars if I could. Faced with a dog who was almost 17 and what I knew mostly likely was a nasal tumor I did my research and found HospiVet. We drove down from Los Angeles parking on the SD side and walked over the border. I was def nervous as I knew my boy would need to undergo anesthesia for the test he needed. I had had a vet in LA for many many years but, most recently, the quality of care (after the vet office upgraded and transferred to new ownership) took a BIG dive. Of coarse the prices subsequently went way way up. What I found in HospiVet was the quality of care and "caring" that my old vet used to provide when they were in a less posh office hole in the wall and only about 5 people worked there. But, honestly, HospiVet was better. Dr Sara the anesthesiologist and care coordinator is one of the most kind and empathic people I've ever met. It is obvious how much she loves animals. She took the time to explain EVERYTHING in detail to me. She even showed me the rhinocoscopy videos and other cases she has worked with who had a similar issues. It set my mind at ease knowing there were alternatives for what will most likely be what ends my sweet boys life. At the moment he is still here and enjoying it so we are concentrating on that. But I feel incredibly blessed to have found HospiVet at this critical moment. I wanted to share this for any other pet parent who is on the fence. I take my 3 dogs here. Initially I was skeptical about getting services for my doggies in a foreign country but I took a chance since their reviews were great. Two of my dogs had teeth cleaning services under anesthesia and recovered well. Their services are reasonably priced for Tijuana. I never feel like they are trying to offer services I don't need. Sometimes they overestimate what my dogs need and end up telling me they didn't need them which I appreciate. The service is friendly and their location is very close to the border. I love that I can make an appointment through text on their whatsapp. Also 2 of my dogs see the cardiologist which I believe is not a service directly from Hospivet but a third party. Nonetheless the services are cheap (roughly $200 for echo and EKG) per dog. Overall I'm very happy with them. read more

I came across the border and I needed to get my new rescue dogs teeth cleaned, and a tooth pulled. Not only were they careful by doing bloodwork prior to make sure that he was healthy enough to be put under anesthesia but when I came back to do the procedure, they were welcoming, informational, and kept me up-to-date after he was out of surgery. At this point I have been here twice. I had a great experience. I went initially for a dental cleaning for my dog. As you can see, he is not too big but not small and the price for everything was around 320 dollars. He had a tooth extracted and needed medicatio.. It was cheaper than in LA. The service was great too. I called a couple places to get some quotes and they are not the cheapest in the area but they are near the border, responsive, clean, and they have parking. Not to mention the veterinarian is a young woman and her attentiveness and knowledge were much appreciated by my doggo. She was clear with the instructions I should follow and observations. A few months ago, I noticed a second lipoma forming on my 11 year old shih tzu along with three small skin tags. At the time, they were small and her regular vet here in San Diego said not to worry and that they don't need to be removed unless they start getting larger or causing her discomfort. Fast forward to late last month after I had my dog groomed. I noticed that the lipoma and skin tags stood out quite a bit so I decided to contact Hospivet to have the necessary bloodwork and surgery done. I scheduled my dog's bloodwork via phone and drove to Hospivet a week later to have blood drawn. Her surgery was scheduled for two weeks after that (which was 2 days ago). Each time, I got a reminder call about the appointment (which I appreciated). While the surgery was being performed, I grabbed some lunch with my wife and brother in law and did some shopping with them. When we finished, we drove back to Hospivet and waited a short time before receiving a call that she was ready to go home. I can't recommend this vet enough. After my dog, Lottie, found and chewed up a box of staples and managed to swallow a few, I was scrambling calling just about every vet in Southern California to find someone who could remove them for a price I could afford. The vet I initially rushed her to for her diagnosis, wanted over $2,000 just to keep her there overnight and see if she passed them, and then wanted another $6,500 for removal surgery! I couldn't possibly pay that, and the lowest quote I could find anywhere in LA county was $2,500 - $3,500. I almost settled for that but after a friend's suggestion, I decided to look at reviews for vets in Tijuana and make some calls. Hospivet was able to squeeze my girl in for an endoscopy at 9am the next morning. We made a quick road trip and she went in at 9am and was back out staple free by 3:15! The staff was unbelievable kind and reassuringly thorough with their briefings. They all speak English and Spanish, which was very helpful. I even asked them to throw in the 2 vaccines she was overdue for while she was under, and they did! My pup loved them as well, despite being terrified at the other vet. All in all, after exam fee + bloodwork + X-rays + meds + 2 vaccines, the total came out to $556!!! I can't express what a difference they made in our lives and I am so, so thankful from the bottom of my heart. We will be driving down immediately if we ever have any emergencies in the future. I was not going to go bankrupt paying for the Vet here in the U.S. so I decided to cross the border for her. I found this place on Yelp and saw it has good reviews. I called and made an appointment but you contact them through Whatsapp. I dropped her off in the morning and picked up later that afternoon. I was worried about the risk of putting my dog under anesthesia however I was relieved when the vet examined her and took her blood to make sure she would be okay for the procedure. All was good. When I picked her up, I very was pleased to see her fully awake and energized which indicated me that her dental cleaning went well. I would definitely go back there. Meds are pricey here, so i usually just go to local tj pharmacy. also their vet exams got pricey too quickly compared to others around. otherwise, all drs, speacialists and receptionists are fantastic. labs/ ultrasound, xrays prices are very fair. very clean hospital too and is close to border. i mainly request dra. alejandra for all my dogs and she is fantastic, patient, very nice and i trust her 100%.. shes very professional and is veryyyy thorough with any medical concern/ explaining treatments. her animal handling skills are also top tier. I came here earlier this week for my cat Ninki who needed a dental cleaning with extractions, and I could not be more pleased with the experience. We drove 8 hours from Sacramento and were originally quoted $1800-$3200 for the dental work. We left the vet here in Tijuana paying around $300! The staff was incredibly friendly and professional. Dr. Alejandra was very knowledgeable and caring while treating Ninki. She took the time to explain everything and answered all of our questions. The entire process was super easy and quick. I appreciated how clean the office was and their private parking lot next to the building, making it incredibly convenient and accessible. I had an emergency with my 6 year old chihuahua. After taking her to multiple different veterinarians in San Diego and spending hundreds of dollars and being told she was better I decided to give Tijuana a try. I arrived on a Monday morning at 10 am without an appointment hoping that she would be seen, she was under stress since she was once again not feeling well. I checked in at the window and they had a full clinic, I was told they couldn't see her without an appointment but luckily someone had canceled at 12pm. I told them I would wait. While waiting my chihuahua had a seizure and they rushed her inside right away. They took care of her and she had the best care she had ever had. We spent the following week taking her for labs, ultra sounds, and follow ups. For once's I was told what was truly wrong with her. Dr.Karina saved my Chiquita's life. If it wasn't because I was there that day she wouldn't had made it alive. Dr.Karina really cares about her job, she isn't like other vets that are only after money. My dog was fine as you can see in the first picture, same day of that picture my neighbors dog came in to play and while baking a cake and talking to my friend I didn't see what exactly happened, but obviously we can assume what went on, the other dog was bigger and by roughly playing she probably pawed my dogs eye, and after they left I looked at my dog and knew right away something looked different. Decided then to schedule her an appointment at Hospivet where I had been using as a vet for past few years but she never had anything major just check ups, which now have put me in thinking of all the unnecessary things they made me pay for those past visits. As a concerned dog mom, I did my research before coming in, but already knowing what happened I just expected they would concern based on what I have stated, which basically was, my dog had been pawed in the eye by a bigger dog, which clearly you can see her lower lid a bit detached and her third eye lid coming out a little, what would I assume they would do is a check up to see pressure, possible a scratch on the cornea anything along these lines, and obviously a treatment based on another dog who had caused some trauma on her eye, like a eye drops some simple, but no, they decided to skip all the first things first and started raising my concern to a mass tumor on her head which obviously would cost me and make them more money than a eye drop treatment for a possible inflammation to the affected area. Please use your common sense which isn't so common nowadays anymore and do not bring your dog here. I cut them off as soon as they started talking about a possibility of neurological problem so I don't even bring that energy to my life or my dogs life, and walked away. You can tell when they listen to you and when they are trying to sell you on something bigger and possibly unnecessary!!!!! And I say this because, if she had never played with another dog, sure I could take that in consideration as it was one of the possible things which came up when I googled about dog eye trauma, but the first possible reason was exactly what I supposed it would be and that's me not being a veterinarian!!!! So my point is they were trying to treat for what it was but for what they would make more money even if it would cost unnecessary situation like a supposition of a mass tumor in my baby's head I am going with my instincts and washing through with saline solution and I am trying to find a reputable doctor to check for what the cause is like an inflammation to the eye which is simply treated with an eye drop without putting my dog throughout unnecessary stress, and whatever else could create too, since it's in those situations which could have been avoid a loss of pet with a surgery that was not needed. When they realized I was smarter than a 3rd grade and cut them off, and that bullshit was not cutting it, they let me go without even trying obviously because they realize that crap wasn't gonna cut with me. We had a great experience today getting our dog's teeth cleaned (and one extraction) at Hospivet! We were driving from San Diego and worried about what the experience would be like. Well, it was perfect! The office has parking, is super clean and modern, and the doctors seem very caring and speak English very well. Driving around Tijuana is a bit crazy but we did it (not without lots of honks directed our way!) and found a couple of fun restaurants to go check out while we waited. I think its best to book your appt mid week so you don't run in to weekend travelers. I would have paid well over a thousand dollars in San Diego for a treatment that cost me 275 dollars with medications included. And I think this place was just as professional if not more so. Thank goodness! I live in San Diego and my toy poodle needed a dental cleaning, they quoted me about $1,500USD. Crazy! And that was without knowing if he needed extractions (which he did not). I started looking into TJ and came across Hospivet. Dr. Alejandra was so nice and took her time with my baby. I took care of his dental cleaning with anesthesia, an evaluation with microchipping, nail clipping and ear cleaning for less than a fourth of the original quoted price in San Diego! I cannot recommend this hospital, staff and vets enough. Like most people, I was very nervous and scared to bring my dog across the border for veterinary services but I am so glad I did and will continue to do so. My Dad's 10 year old Chihuahua was in serious need of teeth cleaning. I called 3 weeks prior and received the exact cost, the breakdown of the procedure and how that day will go. I had no surprise costs added exactly what they quoted me I paid, even with the hypotheticals. I called 2 more times in between then and the appintment and I always received amazing costumer service. The day of the procedure we did have a hard time getting to the clinic, I was able to call them before opening hours and they assisted us. The hospital is on the same street as the sentri line, so it is heavily guarded and no one can get in unless they are there for sentri. The staff spoke to the cops on speakerphone and they let us through. We paid for expedited blood work and once he got the OK he had his procedure done. It was a lot quicker than expected. For those that are on the fence or nervous, go for it, it is the best experience I've had and will always recommend it. read more
