I left my dog for 10 days. I did not request that he be bathed because I had an appointment scheduled elsewhere for his grooming. At this veterinary clinic (daycare), they handed my dog back to me absolutely filthy, smelling of urine and feces - worse than a stray dog. When he was subsequently bathed at the other facility, they sent me photos showing that his paws were burned; this was caused by prolonged exposure to urine and feces. Had I allowed the daycare to bathe him, I would never have discovered his injuries or realized the poor standard of care to which he had been subjected. All of his hair had to be cut off because he had feces stuck to it. read more

The best doctor's in my opinion and the best staff! They have taken such great care of my two babies and I will never know how to thank them for saving my Mochi's life. She had acute pancreatitis Dr. Alejandra and Dr. Barret took such good care of her. Put her on the proper meds, gave her on an IV treatment my girl was dying and she was only three years old. They also found out she was allergic to chicken (all poultry) grass, dirt, she would breakout in these skin rashes and I didn't know why... They helped me figure it out and once I started her on her allergy meds, switched her diet up and she plays on our deck, takes longer walk's, she's the happiest girl! Yes, she goes to the beach and park once in a while but she'll bathe right after. My youngest pup has leaped off the couch and fractured her back leg in two places she needed surgery and so we scheduled the surgery after they controlled her pain, they assured me she would be just fine (she's only 7lbs) I was worried about her being under anesthesia but they called me within three hours to let me know she was up and trying to stand up already! They took great care of her and within 10 days we went back to have her stitches taken out. Continue to let it heal and now she's faster than ever! I'm so grateful for everyone who's helped along the way. I highly recommend Palmas e Hipódromo Veterinaria! We love them and tell so many people with pets about it. read more

I had my dogs blood retested in san diego and it was nothing like what they presented to me prior to my dogs neuter. I still had his neuter done there because I knew better . I knew he'd be fine either way. The suture on the bottom half came off and I placed a staple at work to keep it closed. I'm a veterinary technician so it works out. I've been meaning to write a review. I was recommended by my girlfriend to take my fur baby, because I couldn't afford the services here in San Diego. From start to finish it was great! My baby had cancer on his nose so it came down to quality of life. Pamela the veterinarian was Amazing p, she waited for my kids and I to put our baby down, We took his bed and toys and she was so sweet. I couldn't be in the room, I was so emotional I couldn't keep it together so I waited in the car, crying my heart out. My kids were with Lucky and everyone were crying, even the Vet Pamela. Individual Cremation was $115.00 verses $350 to $500 in San Diego and we couldn't be with him, if I did it here in San Diego. I called to ask at what time I could bring my dog. They said from 10-12 pm. I got there at 11:40 after driving 1 hour to get there and they said they wouldn't see my dog. That the last one they took was at 11:30. If they are going to receive dogs until 11:30 they should say that when you call. In Granada Hill they were charging me $500 plus meds to remove a fox tail they saw on my puppy's ear. They said it was because they had to put him to sleep. I needed to go to TJ the next day anyways so I took scout to this hospital. Walk in service was fast since I was the very 1st one when they open. My Scott was put to sleep and the vet removed 6 fox tails. My scout didn't feel a thing. Vet Gonzalez was super nice and since scout was still asleep he told me to go run my errands and they would watch scout for me and called me as soon as he woke up. I paid $125 for meds for 10 days, fox tails removal, anesthesia and 3 shots that scout already needed. He even got a little tag saying he came to see the vet inTJ so I could show when crossing back to Cali. Highly recommend read more

I can't express more gratitude to this vet and the staff especially Dr Adrian. Our cat Hunter suffered from a Urinary blockage and the vet in the states wanted a tremendous amount to see him. We researched for alternatives and was recommended by a friend to take Hunter to Tj. We reached out to Veterinaria Palmas and we're able to bring him same day without an appointment. Dr Adrian was super knowledgeable and emphatic to the situation. Ultimately we are happy to say that our cat Hunter is back home after a 2 night over stay and is doing great!!! They sent us home with plenty of information and meds he needs to make a full recovery. The office is located in a nice quiet part of town fairly simple to locate. FYI side note Hipódromo office is a different location where they only do consultations. Palmas location is where you want to go to see actual doctors. The prices are night and day compared to the states and was very happy to walk away with a healthy kitty and not in debt. My one and only criticism is that they are not very good at returning phone calls when trying to get a status report on the situation. In conclusion I will be returning for future pet health needs very happy with my experience!!! read more

I really wanted to like this place. The initial experience was great when our cat was sick. But it just turned into a nightmare. Left our cat Frank overnight to get blood test and IV fluids and to start antibiotics. They said they were going to call around noon with results. Noon rolls around and no call. Figure hey it's lunch, no problem. I make a call around 1. "Doctors busy he'll call you in 10 minutes" I call back at 650 right before there closes. "Sorry doctor is in surgery." Asked for an update and they didn't have any info. Call the next morning, no info. Doctor finally calls me in the afternoon, says they want to keep him another night, nothing glaring from blood tests. Pick him up the next day, he's covered in pee and looks like hell. I get a half assed walk through of the meds he takes and nothing on what they think may be the problem. Waste of time and money and a total lack of respect for Frank. read more

My dog had a hot spot that kept growing in size. We tried our best to keep her from licking it but it was impossible! We finally took her to this vet clinic and they were awesome. We got there early and didn't wait long at all. They were very friendly and professional. We got our meds from them before we left and they were patient with my dog. We took our dog Spike here after trying so many vets in San Diego. The vets here in San Diego wanted to do expiatory surgery and we wanted to at least get a second opinion. The doctor at Veterinario Palmas was able to figure out the problem (infection) almost immediately, prescribed pain meds, fluids and antibiotics, and by the evening Spike went from lethargic and lifeless back to 90% of his normal self. I trust the doctors at Palmas and will bring spike or my other animals back to them if I ever need to again. I highly recommend Palmas if you are able to make the trip down to TJ. Crossing was very easy and we just needed his up to date rabies vaccination papers, which the border patrol in Sentri line did not even ask for (I still recommend that you have them just in case). read more

WOW!! Teeth cleaning and dental surgery for my chihuahua mix 10 year-old pet was estimated here in the U.S. at over one thousand dollars...I took him to Palmas Veterinary Hospital in Tijuana on Av. Palmas and the total in dollars...$110.00 one tenth of the quote I got here in the States. I made an appointment for 11am...by eleven fifteen they'd checked his heart and proceeded, promising him back by 6pm. We had lunch and hung out in TJ returning at 620pm. Our dog was ready albeit a bit dizzy. They were more than nice and even included the antibiotics for free... Now that is service, efficiency and professionalism. The place is clean and bright. Regretful experience. I live in LA and my dog has Addisons Disease. We typically spend $85 in her monthly injection plus $56 consultation fee JUST to treat her for 1 month. So I'm sure you can see this was starting to be a financial burden on us as much as we love our doggy. My doctor back home told me I needed to do blood work $200 in order to continue her monthly injection. We went home and thought of ways to avoid all this financial stress considering we still owe $1,300 from the time she collapsed. Someone told me about their positive experience in Mexico so I looked into vets here right? "It'll literally save you hundreds" they said. "Blood work is like $30" they said... So here we go! I get there, friendly staff right? All wonderful. I call my vet put it on speaker and let the vet here in Tijuana Las Palmas listen to what he needs... (Dr. Sergio) "I know" he says "I got it" Cool. We hang up. I ASK.. Is that right? As a vet, now I am asking you to double check what they said right. I say IS THAT WHAT YOU NEED TO GET THE RIGHT INFORMATION FOR ADDISONS? "Si, si, si"what ever right? I'm trusting him. He's a VET right ? Gets blood from my doggy and says he's gonna email me the results since I'm so far from here to come again. Emails me the shit. I go to Pasadena, to a well recognized vet, so they're not bullshitting and it turns out this guy didn't even run the freaking electrolytes, sodium nor potassium which is clearly all affected by Addisons and plays a HUGE role in knowing if her meds are working. UGHHH. Called Him to maybe ask if it was a mistake or something right? I'm being civil though I was pissed! We waited 6 1/2 hours in the border but anyway, he says.. " uh it's because I don't run those things" um hello they're crucial! You ran some bull! I'm like okay... "Well what can I use from the exams you made?" Again he says every doctor does it different but like how?? tell me what you look at then?! Avoids the question. To be honest I think he had no idea what Addisons was! I was like well, "I asked you to make sure everything that affects Addison's to be run on that test" and you told me it was.... Hangs up on me. I called back 2 times and he turned his cell phone off. Call the office and he took about 5 mins to answer which means he was contemplating not answering me again. He told me he was sorry and there was nothing he could do unless he talked to owner. For the sake of peace I dropped it but ugh annoying. The doctor here in Pasadena told me there's NO WAY to know how the dog is doing without those 3 things. He told me he was sorry but that I wasted my money in Mexico. He spent 25 mins telling me about Addisons and how I can try to save money and save my dogs life cus he felt so bad. Moral of the story going the cheap route can turn out more expensive. VCA here in Cali is a lil pricey but worth it, look it up! read more

Wonderful vet clinic! This clinic is in a nice part of town, a $10 taxi ride from the border. They provide excellent service, actually answer their phone and you can get an appointment quickly. We have two Maltese mixes, Belle and Lulu. They did an excellent job cleaning Lulu's teeth, addressing Belle's allergy issues with take home medication, and full grooming on both dogs for $152! Kind and caring staff. While our dogs were being taken care of, we walked over to a nearby mall and enjoyed a movie and nice lunch. Highly recommend!!! read more

I had been taking my dog here for a couple of years now. In different occasions they harmed him when cutting his hair. Today I took him once again but asked them to please be careful because of what happened the other times; instead of assuring me it wouldn't happen again, they accused him of being aggressive (which he is not) and then took that back and said he was a really restless dog. Their response didn't calm me at all so I told them so; their answer ? "You don't have to leave your dog if you don't want to", in a not-so-polite tone of voice. My cat wasn't feeling well and I brought her to Hospital Veterinario Palmas. On the initial consultation she got a superficial check up because it was Saturday and the lab was closed. They noticed her temperature was a little high so they gave her medicine. I was told to bring her back the following Monday for a lab test. I brought her on Monday and since they wanted urine and blood test i decided to leave her because it would take a while to collect the urine sample. Monday when I get home I noticed that she left some blood spots where she had been laying down. I call the vet to let them know, the receptionist tells me he is busy but she would let him know and he would call me back. I didn't get a call back so I ended up calling back later and she hadn't told him so I spoke to him and told him to keep an eye on that.They ran the test on Tuesday and I was told I could pick her up that day. But because the results wouldn't be ready until Wednesday I decided to leave her another day so she could be in good hands. Wednesday comes and I go pick her up and they gave me the results. Every thing looked really good on the lab results. The doctor's diagnosis was that she had a urinary infection although I didn't show up in the results. But because of the symptoms ( high temperature and the spotting) .when I get home I noticed she had a big wound on her right hind leg . It looked really really bad.(I can't believe that she was 2 nights in their care and not noticed it)So I call the vet let the receptionist know. The receptionist ask me to send her pictures to their email and proceeds to give me the wrong email. I called a few minutes later to see if they got the pictures and she said she gave me the wrong email and was waiting for me to call them so she can give me the right email. So I just drove back to the vet and the doctor takes her in. He said that it's an infected wound and that they would take care of her. He told me not to worry about it that she would be fine. He told me to leave her until Monday and that Friday they would give me an update. Then the receptionist gives me a recipe with no quote/price ( which all the other recipes I got had one) . No one called me for the updated, I had to call them. Finally today I go pick her up and an assistant gave me my cat back with some meds and very vague instructions. When I was gonna head out the receptionist gave me a bill. So I payed it but I asked to talked to the doctor. I wanted more details about my pet and also wanted to let him know that he had wrong me and my cat. After waiting around 1.5 hours he came out to talk to me. I asked him about my cat's health in detail. Then I told him that it wasn't fair they were charging me for a mistake they made. At the end they ended up cutting the bill in half but still charging me. Long story short. It's not about money it's about them being negligent and not owning up to their mistakes. They have lives in their hands and they don't seem to really care about them. I would definitely never go back. And if you guys really want great care for your pets ldon't bring them here. read more

I brought my cat in last week. No appointment, first come, first served. This was on a Saturday, but I didn´t wait more than about 20 mins. The receptionist and the doctor spoke perfect English and were a delight to deal with ! Nimoy (cat) had a bad case of dermatitis due to fleas. He received 3 shots (so I did not have to give him pills). Flea killer, antibiotics, and steroid. Exam with shots cost only $950 pesos ($50 US). Great compared to stateside prices. Told me to return in 2 weeks for a free follow-up. I will definitely return and bring him in to have him neutered and get all his vaccinations. Office was immaculate, no bad odors.
