It is nice and glossy and it effectively removed that creepy unfinished clay like chalkboard feeling. They said it is dishwasher, microwave, and oven safe so excited to get it in rotation! They have a pretty quick turnaround time (3-5 days) and are very generous with their hold times. I embarrassingly will admit it took me a few months to get back to pick them up, and thankfully they still had them waiting in the back. Also, the garage DOES go through to the back of the building where The Painting Place is - so the directions are correct. It was much easier to get there this time when I realized it was a pull-through garage under the building lol.... I will definitely keep The Painting Place on my list for pottery crafts in the future!!

They even had pre-made paint palettes as an option. They also have some pottery pieces and things you can paint and take home the same day, but you can't eat from those items as they don't go thru the kiln. There wasn't a ton of variety in the pottery pieces to choose from, and the prices were a bit high compared to what I've seen in the past. We enjoyed our time. There were only two other parties there so it was very quiet and peaceful. Tip: if you use GPS for directions, it'll point you to the building across from theirs. They're right across from the Russian School. Their sign is a bit hidden. They do have a free parking lot.

I found myself at Past Prezence a few weeks ago, and I'm surprised I ever left! Past Prezence, run by Gina and Herb, is a true haven of wonderfully eclectic home furnishings, purses and articles of clothing. Each item has a rich story in its past, which I'm sure Gina and Herb will tell you about if you ask. Aside from the antiques, Gina and Herb also sell (and make!) original coffee tables from unexpected materials. Brimming with creativity and stocked with the right tools, Gina and Herb make custom pieces, too. I can claim, with absolutely no hyperbole, that Gina and Herb are artists. And, at that, some of the kindest, most interesting and inspiring people I have ever met. Visiting Past Prezence, from a completely selfish perspective, got me so much more than I bargained for: an artful coffee table, a beautiful mirror, a mellowed dresser, and a few of Gina's vintage purses (that already lived a memorable life, but are in great shape to live again)! Find yourself tired of mass-produced, low-quality furniture, purses and people? Visit Past Prezence for quality furnishings at great prices, interesting conversation and a little bit of inspiration. And lastly, an important note on location-- it is in an industrial park (Building 5, I believe?) and is listed under "Sensation Wear" (for now) on the sign near the fire department. We were able to find a steel case office chair for about 60% off retail price and the chair comes with all new fabric. Only downside is that as with Henry Ford, your fabric color choice is black or black. Some chairs are sold as-is so you could get color. Showroom is in an old factory building. Sales people are very nice. Process is easy. Best if you have a vehicle you can use to bring your chair home.

I not only recommend ASF, I rely on them to advise, frame, and protect extremely valuable and important paintings, drawings, prints, assemblages, and collectibles. ASF stands behind their quality work which begins with pick up/intake, suggestions for best exhibiting items, and constructions that are precise and sturdy. The prices at ASF are not only competitive, they are beyond reasonable, if not inexpensive, for 5 star frames. On the rare occasion I require rapid turnaround, ASF is accommodating. Even more important, expedience does not sacrifice quality nor does it incur added expense. ASF is the best of the best.

I can't believe this place doesn't have a review!…read more I've been to probably a dozen custom framing shops in my life - A Street is far and away as good as it gets. This is a review of the one in Cambridge, I think they have other locations, but I've never been to any of those. Here's the deal... Service - the two ladies that work at A Street are probably the sweetest most amazing people I've ever interacted with in a retail setting. They don't rush anyone, they help you make good framing decisions, and they genuinely love art and framing and making customers happy. I've been there three times in total, and these ladies know my name, they remember who I am, etc. Prices - custom framing is expensive. I don't exactly know how these guys "stack up" because it's a very difficult service to comparison shop. My guess is these guys are a little more expensive than your average framing shop. I felt VERY well treated with regard to price. Quality - A Street is a very rare bird. They actually make many of their frames in house.... so they are actually a TRUE custom framer. This means that they actually modify and create frames from scratch all the time. I just brought in a painting that was an odd size, and they are going to mill out the rabbit so that it fits perfectly into the back of the frame! Go ask a regular "custom" framing shop to do something like that and they will look at you like you have three heads. These guys suggested it to me! The frames they stock are top notch, many are made in-house. A Street supplies to other framers as well... so they havea manufacturing arm. Timeliness - Sooo if you are in a huge rush, I'm not sure this is the place for you. I wouldn't know since I've never actually asked them to rush anything. I generally am cool with waiting several weeks or longer. Long story short, in my opinion, this is a place that values quality and execution over price and speed. The people are exceptional, the work quality is amazing (I think I am having my tenth thing framed with them), and you will be extremely pleased. I would run, not walk, here.
