Dear Horton's, I want to tell you a short story about how your company took care of me. (First, let me say the car I bought from Sheehy Ford, brand new in 2014, has had multiple mechanical issues since I bought it. Biggest waste of money ever in my life). Well, I was on my way to work Friday on I-66 Eastbound just passing the 234 business on-ramp when my engine light came on and my engine revved up like it was stuck in a low gear. I pulled over and called Geico for Roadside Assistance. (Wonderful and caring customer service but that's for another review)! I recieved a call from Brian who works at your Horton's Wrecker Service less than 5 min after my call with Geico. Brian says he is right down the street and he's coming. He showed up about 5 min later. Maybe 10 min total I was on the side of the road. Mybe a hair less. Not bad at all. Brian pulled in and hooked up my car to the tow. I climbed in the cab. Man, it was clean in there... and smelled nice. Not what I expected honestly. Brian jumped in and we took off down 66, car in tow. He took me all the way to the Centreville exit of course so we could head back to Warrenton. We talked the whole way to Sheehy Ford. Brian is a good person and very polite. We had the best conversations and he smiled and laughed along with me. I cannot believe, but am very thankful for the very quick, reliable service and personal kindness I recieved on this very stressful morning. Due to reoccurring issues with our car battery I've had to get a jump from Horton's several times in the last year or so via our geico roadside assistance. The technicians who have come out have always been incredibly kind and helpful (one even recognized me from a previous jump and gave me references for a different shop to try). The customer service rep who answers the phone on the other hand is incredibly rude, as other reviews mention. I understand that they probably don't deal with the kindest customers since people are rarely in a good mood when they're calling for a towing service, but if they can't be kind to customers they shouldn't be on the phones. read more

Horrible customer service. Was told by insurance to call, when i called them they called me stupid and were yelling. I responded with still being nice because I have common human decency. If possible have it towed by any other company, you do not want to need to interact with these people. read more

My car stopped on a tree lined street somewhere near Clifton, VA (I had no idea at the time). I put in a roadside request on Geico's app. The eta was 90 min. I have two children who I need to pick up with an hour. I could not wait the 90 minutes. I had an experience where the app said longer than the actual company, so I contacted Horton's directly. The person on the phone asked for my location. I've never been on this road and had no clue where I was. I told him I didn't know and I needed to get into the app to find it. He stated he couldn't help me without the location. I responded that "I'm getting into the app sir, I'm in the middle of no where. It's not personal, I just don't know where I am." He immediately hung up on me. Scared and irritated I called back and asked if he was the a-hole who hung up on me. He responded "Now you're not getting picked up." I immediately called Geico to inform them and arrange another tow. I got a call on my other line from another Geico agent, stating that Horton's called claiming I wasn't at the location listed on the app. I then informed them of my exchange with the dispatcher, entered a complaint and was switched to another company. I can make plenty of assumptions about the man who answered the phone and why he was so rude towards me, but I won't. The facts are he's unprofessional and put me at risk by being impatientand disconnecting the line. read more

If I could give zero stars I would! Absolutely RUDE!! I had been waiting 2 hours after being told twice by my insurance carrier that they would arrive within 30 minutes. The next time I call to check on the status they connect me with the towing company and the most atrocious man answered, within a 2 minute call, I tried to explain what insurance had told me about the wait and he cut in saying "if I could get a word in I would explain!" which was completely rude and out of line, so I replied "excuse me, I was getting MY words in" and he HUNG UP ON ME. What a child! Needless to say, I canceled the call...I would have rather walk in the cold rain to a gas station miles away than pay a cent to this company. Not good company at all. Was involved in a car accident. Insurance company assigned. They lied saying they showed up. Yet no one did and continued to call me a liar. Then told me they wouldn't come out because I started I took pictures with a time stamp and can show I was sitting here. So he refused business because I caught him in a lie. read more

There simply cannot be a more rude and unprofessional person to answer the phone for a company that does nothing but feed off the misfortunes of others. Geico assigned us this service and we were so thankful! They were exactly on time compared to the estimate given to us by Geico. The driver was very friendly and knowledgeable and did everything he could to help take care of our car. Also helped us get the car exactly where we needed it at home. I was stranded tonight when my car ran out of gas in traffic on 28. Dallas (I think it was) came out to tow my car when it wouldn't start after adding gas. He was able to get it started again without having to tow and made sure I made it to a gas station and that I was able to start my car again. Sucks because the price was fair, not sure what happened or why the person didn't help. They left me hanging and the car on the side of the road. I told him I would wait for the driver because he was pushing me off the phone and disconnected the call. He called me back told me off and said that he was cancelling Geico. I told him I was posting this and he said cool. So he is happy that he didn't help someone he was getting paid to assist. read more

Hortons wrecker service-you have quite an amazing guy working for you! John came out to our home after my husbands baby and pride and joy broke down directly across the street from our home. We simply needed it picked up and put back in our driveway. John arrived sooner then expected and was so friendly my husband began to feel at ease. He took AMAZING care of our car ensuring nothing would happen to it. What a refreshing interaction as we know not all those in this profession take the time and detail to ensure your car is taken care of like their own! This company was great. I had issues with my Expedition and needed tow service to get my vehicle to the auto shop. I was pressed for time and the auto shop recommended Horton's. After a quick call to give my information, they were able to meet me within a half hour. Brandon showed up and was extremely helpful and explained all the costs up front. So this morning my car broke down on my way to work after Ford "claimed" they fixed it. Ford suggested I call Horton's to tow it and they will pay for it. I called them and the operator on the phone said it would be about an hour. About 20 min later the tow truck driver showed up. My wife was already on the scene with her car ready to drive me to work. All he had me do was give him the keys, and my last name so that he can inform the service advisor that my car is back. He was very professional. He shook my hand and told me "I got it from here, have a great day!" So my wife and I pull off the shoulder and are waiting at the light for about 5 minutes and we see him already take off with my car! You could tell he was very experienced because he was so quick. I wish I got his name. Whoever towed my car from the intersection of Wellington and sudley manor this morning was AWESOME! Can't thank you enough! read more

I called for a tire change. The lady on the phone was friendly and said a truck would arrive within a half an hour. They did, however the driver was rude from the start. He changed the tire, collected his money and was on his way. Then I take the my car in to get a new tire put on and find out that he has failed to tighten two of the bolts on my tire and completely stripped the other 3. Due to his incompetence, I was charged an additional $76 to get my tires fixed. So basically, I paid someone to do a job completely incorrect and now have to pay MORE money due to his errors. I'm waiting for their reply to correct this issue. UPDATE: Instead of offering a way to correct the issue, they have decided to continuously argue with me that it may not have been their error even though they are the ONLY ones to have touched the wheels since purchasing it as a new vehicle and the error was verified by another mechanic. read more

Bad attitude by the owner! Takes advantage of people at a venerable time. Wanted to charge an extra $75 just to hookup to my trailer when my truck broke down and $4 a mile to tow my trailer. The truck was covered by Geico. Geico would not pay to tow my trailer. The tow truck driver was very nice guy. Sorry he has to work for such a jurk. read more

I got into an accident in Virginia and my insurance company ended up calling them. It did take them awhile to get there but the guy that came was very polite. He made sure I was taken care of and since I was riding with him all the way back to Baltimore at 1030 pm. My son locked the car keys in the trunk for a car that I was borrowing, and I didn't have a spare key. I had to get to work. I was definitely late, but Horton's came within 30-45 minutes and had my car unlocked in no time. I wasn't even sure how to get into the trunk from there but the truck driver found the button to pop the trunk in a weird (to me) location on the driver's door. It actually took less time for him to get me my keys than it did to do the paperwork/payment!! He was great. And friendly. I think you can run into jerks anywhere, but I had a pleasant experience with Horton's and I would use them again. read more

This review is on Hortons wrecker service in Front Royal VA who do not seem to have a separate page. I would not recommend them to anyone for any reason. I was charged $600 for a simple 8 mile tow. Not only was I obviously over charged as it was not a weekend or holiday but they also managed to rip off my front bumper during the hook up process. I have been to thier lot , a cumbling little paved area on the back end of town on 2 separate occasions to try and get my car. They are very difficult to get a hold of and have several dead numbers. There is no one on site and an appointment must be made when it is convenient for them. read more

Insurance company arranged a tow for me, missed the tow driver/company's phone call, so I called them back (17 minutes after the missed call). The man on phone was extremely rude when I tried to apologize and explain my father was in the hospital (where I was at the time--the doctor had come in to talk to us and I couldn't answer the phone) and that was why I missed the call. Very rude and unprofessional, I apologized and he went off on me like a bomb! Very unprofessional! Very rude! Told insurance company to send anyone but that company. I would even push it the 15 miles to the mechanic rather than have to deal with that rude man ever again. Horrible experience, would not ever recommend!!! read more
