Initially I called GEICOs emergency roadside who connected me to a horrible towing company - Big Daddy's Towing. They were rude unprofessional and unreliable. After waiting almost 2 hours, I called Advanced Towing Company. The phone operator was extremely nice and understanding. Advanced Towing came within 15 mins (despite an eta of 30min) and had me back on the road in minutes. If you want your car ruined, a driver with an attitude who yells at your husband and throws your cell phone at you while he is talking to him, this is the place for you. This towing company was recommended to me by my mechanic (who has since torn up and thrown away their card) I got a flat tire and called them based on the recommendation I was given. I explained over the phone the type of car I had and which tire was flat (rear driver's tire) and that I did not have a spare. I also explained I needed to be towed back south to my garage where my husband would be meeting me with a new tire. He showed up, had me back down the shoulder a bit so I could slowly turn the car around so he could tow it from the back. Yes, I had to turn the car around, facing the opposite direction into 70 mph oncoming traffic. He asked what kind of car I had, if it was front or rear wheel drive. I told him front and confirmed it with my husband. He put the car on the rack while my husband called 3 mechanics to confirm that the car should never be towed this way. My husband called him back, told him to drop the car and that he shouldn't be towing it this way. He continues on to DC which is the closest we can exit and then holds my car hostage, threatening to impound the car or charge me PER MINUTE while we wait for my husband to arrive. Meanwhile 3 different branches of police officers come to try and help/see why we are there (it was in a secure government parking lot that only lot permits are allowed) My husband arrives, he charges us admits he shouldn't have towed the car this way, but refuses to sign anything. Gestures to the officers as if my husband is threatening him, etc. Bottom line, he knew he was wrong, got busted and tried to weasel out of it. We had to call another tow truck (one with a flat bed) and have it towed to the dealership where we await diagnosis to see if the transmission is ruined. This guy knew he was wrong (Shawn) and did it anyway. Unless you are really looking for a way to ruin your car, I wouldn't call these idiots if someone was dying and they were my last chance. I would walk instead, no matter how many miles or what else was going on. Rude, incompetent, attitude, terrible to deal with, extortionists and worse. read more

My battery died and my hood latch wasn't working so I called advance towing to take my car down to the dealership to get it fixed and the battery replaced. When Johnathan (the tow guy) got there I wanted him to try to jump start the battery first but I wasn't sure if he could because my hood wouldn't open. Lo and behold Johnathan got my hood to open up and said it was rusted and jammed so he put WD40 on it and jumpstarted my battery all within the span of 5-10 mins. Then he gave me advice on what to do (because I'm a n00b) with my battery and where to go to get it replaced with a new one. Highly capable and professional! While at a concert in DC, all four of my tires were stolen off my car (DC Police got a nice laugh). Advance Towing was the only company that had the capabilities to tow a vehicle with no wheels; every other company my insurance company called wanted to simply drag the car onto a flat bed causing all sorts of damage. They were able to tow the vehicle without me being present. (My insurance company allowed me to leave the car behind) Additionally, they gave me a set time in which the vehicle would be towed, and they sent me pictures from the site of them towing the car. Writing a review for a towing company feels weird, but they helped me out and it should be acknowledged. My car broke down and needed to be towed on Sunday. I called my mechanic and they work with Advance Towing so gave me their number. Called the number, texted my address (as he asked), and the tow guy showed up about 45 minutes later and brought me to the mechanic. The actual guy who towed the car was named Miguel. He was amazingly friendly and courteous during an obviously stressful time. I felt that he took good car of my car as he set up the tow, but I guess I was standing right there. Price was $91 for a ~5 mile tow. They take credit card with one of those smartphone scanners and provided a receipt for reimbursement to insurance. read more

I received a phone call from the manager after leaving a negative review. The man on the phone was disrespectful and demanded that I take down my review. I try to figure out what exactly he was disputing however, he insisted that I couldn't leave a negative since I didn't pay for the original bad service. I couldn't resolve his concern and was attacked over the phone, I was then told I would face legal action since I asked him what specifically he felt was wrong in my original review. The man started to ask what I do for a living and starting to ask personal question which had nothing to do with the matter. Horrible Towing Company!!!! They don't even deserve one star but Yelp gives you no choice. If you want your car towed in one piece do not use this company. A relative of mind got a flat tire in my car on 395 while I was out of town. Advanced towing picked up my vehicle and destroyed it. The car was not involved in a collision but arrived at my house with $6,000 worth of damage. How can you tow a car with no damage minus a flat tire and bring it back with the front and rear bumpers hanging off the hood and grill smashed in and drop it in a driveway on it's rotor. Unbelievable!! I called the owner Shawn to inquire about the damage and all he did was yell and claim it's not their fault. Do not use this company if you value your car. I wish I could upload the pictures so you all could see them. I own a vending food truck, and when it broke down, Advance Towing was extremely helpful in getting it towed quickly. The driver was really really skilled and as he had to tow the vehicle thru the narrow streets of the Georgetown neighborhood in Washington DC. I have used advance towing for my vending trucks several times, and each time the pickup is fast, easy, and the prices are consistently affordable. And Shawn who I spoke with to coordinate the towing has always been friendly and accommodating. If you want to have your car held at ransom in a full out scam, conduct business with Advance Towing LLC. Advance Towing is a corrupt company with horrendous business practices. I am not one to ever review a company negatively; rather anytime I do review it's always to the leadership of a company appraising a particular employee. But sadly, Advance Towing made me break my trend. Advance Company agreed to tow my vehicle for a set price but when the car arrived I was double charged. I refused to pay and went back and forth over the phone with the manager, Shawn Saralatash and Kelly King for 45 minutes arguing the false charges. He refused to allow the driver to release my car until I paid the doubled charge. After he threatened to take my car back to his facility and in his words "screw me" with overcharges and release dues, I relented and paid the scammed charge. All I wanted was my car back and to end the interaction with Advance Towing. In order to have my car released, Shawn made the driver take a picture of me, my DRIVER's LICENSE, and CREDIT CARD (front and back). Bottomline- Advance Towing held my car at ransom until I paid their false charges and provided my personal information. Super scary that a company as corrupt as Advance Towing has my personal identifiable information at their disposal.
