First I'll point out that the price of these doughnuts are wayyyyy too over priced. Look to pay around $30 give or take for a dozen. What's worse is they even raised the price recently because they're a local business. Sad part is they charge the same price as they do in the springs where they're made FRESH and not driven in. Cake doughnuts are dry in the middle and yeast doughnuts are flat and almost lifeless. And if you get an apple fritter you better hope it's a good one or else your stuck with an uncooked gooey mess of raw dough The environment of this store is pretty much pathetic. Hang a TV on the wall put in a glass display, a small foldable table for the register and put in a few tacky decorations. Also pathetic that they don't stick this store with enough doughnuts and are either sold out or only have the expensive doughnuts that most people don't get. Like the stupid hamburger doughnut. What's worse is theres no system of getting more to the shop when they're sold out. Iv stopped by at 11 and was told they were sold out and were closed. That's 3 HOURS before posted closing time. I love donuts... at least good donuts. Some aren't worth eating the calories. However, Horseshoe has one of the best in Colorado Springs (Amy's is best, hands down... on the other hand, they are probably best in the state). These are very tasty... always fresh. Not a huge selection but what they make is really good. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is their marketing. Their donuts are huge and some are literally double donuts... one stacked on top of the other. Of course this drives the price per donut up, good for marketing but not good if you like a little variety. Personally, my capacity is two donuts and I like to have two different donuts. With Horseshoe... you have to be committed to the one donut you choose. This is the same foolish marketing strategy that The Donut Mill in Woodland Park chooses. (on the other hand, The Donut Mill doesn't compare to Horseshoe... the original owner of Donut Mill had a great recipe... the new one... ech.) So, go hungry or take a friend and split. These donuts are what other donuts aspire to be when they grow up. They are a revelation. I was once totally happy with the traditional flabby, tasteless donut because that's all I'd ever had -- Dunkin, Krispy, even the local Safeway. Not any more. Now the only place I'll buy a donut from in Colorado Springs or Monument is right here. I was introduced to these great donuts through Chris and Judy at PPBC during a CBS member day and was impressed by more than the donuts. Just stopped here for donuts on the way home and I really like this place. It is hard to find a good plain glazed donut and this place has it! It is shaped like a horse shoe too which is fun. They have a couple of unique donuts as well. read more

Love these fabulous donuts. I try a new one every time I go in. The raised melt in your mouth. Decorations are adorable horses and horse shoe variations. They are adding maples and cinnamons as fast as they can. Yes they sell out early some days. They are making from scratch. This is not DD. Much better read more

A really great donut place with some of my favorite combinations; chocolate covered white creme, Old Fashioned, Bavarian Custard and Death by Chocolate. They have come a long way since first opening; I always get a greeting and thank you and so does everyone. I try not to indulge in donuts too often because they are not health promoting, but once in a while I do. Most of the donuts at Horseshoe are on the heavy side, and a bit too oily for my palette. I prefer the plain raised and glazed without any other type of flavors. I have noticed that their raise/glazed holes are heavier and oiler than those at Amy's donuts. They are the experts but I would think that frying in a higher temp oil would help the donuts not absorb so much oil. read more

I have to say this has got to be the best donut place in the Springs (Yes, that means even better than Amy's donuts down south). I am from CA where there are great "real" donut places EVERYWHERE.. well moving to CO 5 years ago, we quickly discovered that good donuts were not to be found. There were either no donut places or the donuts found were not good quality, had cereal/candy all over them or just way too novelty for what real donuts are like from the west or east coasts. We always made the trip up to Donut Mill in Woodland Park since they have the best quality donuts around but now we have a much closer alternative. I do hope Horseshoe will eventually make their donuts in the monument location so they will have the same offerings as their other store (i.e. cream filled maple bars, maple glazed old fashioned, etc). However, the donuts they do have there are great, I have probably been there 4-5 times in the last week or so. read more

Very limited selection. We purchased 2 of pretty much the only donuts they had. They were large in size but not very good. I about choked at the nearly $5, 2 simple chocolate donuts cost me. Neither of my boys finished theirs (as they were pretty dry/stale and bland). The lady behind the counter was nice, but had trash daytime tv playing pretty loud. No yummy smell or great donut shop vibe. Just go to King Soopers! Their donuts are delicious, fresh, and only $0.60!!! We won't be back to this place, lots of better options out there. read more

Went there for a donut and coffee. NO coffee. 5 or 6 minutes to make coffee. My donut would be gone by that time. Person waiting on me kept putting his fingers through his hair. How great is that?? These people are way too proud of their donuts. $11.50 for a half dozen? Maybe I know why-there must be at least a dollar of icing on every one, easily a quarter inch layer on the average one. This place is great! I got in right when the opened and the girls were just finishing setting up. Gronk kept me company while I waited. Have to say awesome staff cool dog and even better donuts. This will be my regular Sunday morning stop! read more
