Dry inside of donut
Julz B.

Stopped in the first time today because my daughter wanted donuts while exploring. My daughter and I were confused by the frosting as it was cracked and breaking off the tops of the donuts. They also seemed dry. The young people working the counter said the donuts were made fresh that morning. With their comments about freshly made we had high hopes for great donuts. We got a strawberry glazed with sprinkles, a chocolate filled with cream, raspberry filled, and one cake doughnut (which hasn't been touched). I will say staff was polite and the place was clean. It was a rustic looking shop with several seats for dinning in. The donuts were large. It was $15 /4 donuts. Not sure if we'll give it another try when we're in that area. I give it a two only because staff was friendly and shop was clean.

Half of a blueberry jelly filled donut.

Really good flavor in the donuts. They fill the jellies as much as possible and all their donuts are at least 1.5x bigger than everyone else. Be mindful if your after the biscuits and gravy........they sell out of biscuits earlier than we've been able to get up there to order. Beware of the cinnamon rolls......they are not big or huge........they are almost the size of a sheet cake.......they look really good though.

Everytime I drive through Woodland Park, I see donut mill. And I finally decided I HAD to try it because it was too tempting not to! Classic donuts. Nothing crazy, but everything done well! Not pictured is the classic glaze and chocolate glaze donuts (the cakey ones). I think those were better than the strawberry. The strawberry classic donut was in my opinion, too sweet. Too much glaze. It was a bit much. But the other two were perfectly fried and had a great texture. A little crumbly, but moist. The spot smells the second you are near it. It's heavenly! And the pricing is really good in my opinion. I mean, at least for what I was used to back in Washington DC. The cashier was nice and quick. He helped us out because we had never been before. Although I wish they put little signs up so we could see what each flavor was. I got tired of asking what each donut flavor was!! I'd come back if I'm in the area. It definitely sufficed my donut hankering.

The Donut Mill has been around for a long time, and has a legacy of serving up huge, delicious donuts. My mom grew up in Colorado Springs and when I told her we were staying around Woodland Park for our vacation she mentioned this place as one of her favorites from back in the day. Once she mentioned it, I remembered the handful of times she took us as kids to get a donut while out and about exploring, so naturally I decided to take my own and grab some one morning before we ventured out. It was midweek when I stopped in and there was only one other person in line, so it was a pretty quick trip. There was a decent selection and I picked up an apple fritter for myself, let my daughter pick a huge twist donut, and got a pretty standard donut for my husband. They were all very tasty. The only reason I'm giving 4/5 is because there were parts of my fritter that were raw and that was a bit of a let down. The flavor was good though, and I chalked it up to a mistake. The other donuts were great. If I'm in the area again I'd for sure give them another try.

we were craving a cinnamon roll so bad on our lil adventure out there and saw this place while we were driving and had to stop by! we parked and there are a lot of cool shops around to pop by and take up time before/after a sweet treat! the line was kinda long but went by surprisingly fast with inly two workers :D we ended up getting a cinnamon roll, and apple fritter and a scoop of root beer ice cream :) there was a park nearby that we enjoyed our treats at and it was literally the perfect day out the cinnamon roll took 2 days to eat and i miss it, i cant wait to go back!!

Donuts were fresh & delicious. They're also gigantic. Staff was very nice. Great selection of donuts too! Could use some modernization inside but it is quaint & cute!

Literally everything about this place is perfect. I have tried many of their donuts so these are my rankings. The bear claw- Perfection 10/10 Apple fritter- Also delicious, some parts can be a little less sweet so if that sounds like your thing then this is a good fit for you 9/10 Bacon fritter- Good for those who have wacky taste and like that sort of thing. You CAN taste the bacon 5/10 Maple donut- So yummy but the maple is artificially flavored so you have to be okay with that 7/10 Strawberry sprinkle- I loved this 8/10 Sugar donut- Yummy and nice texture but a little basic 7/10

Charming breakfast spot with history and flair, drop in for Donuts or Biscuits & Gravy, coffee or ice cream. The bear claws were very good !

I think it's wild the Donut Mill doesn't have 5 stars. You cannot get more fresh, old-fashioned, comforting donuts anywhere else. The value is incredible. This bear claw (which they're known for) could easily be shared. The staff is so kind. We will be back!

I've been wanting to try the donut mill for such a long time! It's located in woodland park, so it's a great place to stop after a hike or a trip. After looking at fall foliage, I figured it was finally time to have a donut. They're open all day, although the selection seemed slim when I went in the afternoon so I figure it's probably better to come early. There were only a few options (sadly no jelly donuts), so I tried a maple glaze. They have a $5 credit card minimum so I also added on a donut hole. The flavor, texture, dough puff and sweetness were all perfect. I didn't think it was too sweet and I didn't crash from sugar afterwards which usually happens to me! The inside is very cute with lots of seating and nice restrooms. They also offer ice cream, beverages and food items! This is a great place for a sweet treat.

Chorizo burrito

Good donuts, quite sweet though so one is enough for a quick breakfast run. The coffee is pretty good, comes in a compostable cup and optional little creamers/sugar on a small bar next to the self-serving station. The burritos are alright. The sausage one is good. (The chorizo one has bits of shredded potato mixed in with reconstituted egg and small amounts of meat, a little spicy).

So kind. Sooooo delicious. Sooooo worth it. The Donut Mill is a local DREAM! It is part of the fabric of Woodland Park life and culture. And at this altitude? That soft pillowy donut bite is hard to achieve! But the Donut Mill has undoubtedly found the perfect balance. We were thrilled to share this gem with our kids on a trip back to Colorado. Thank you Donut Mill!

Half strawberry glaze and half apple fritter

Great service, we had a teenage boy with silver earrings taking our order and he was so kind. The shop is located in the middle of Woodland Park and is so cute inside. It got two apple fritters, one maple donut, and one strawberry sprinkle. All were exceptional. The donuts had a great rise and were huge. Apple fritters were glazed with a great spiced flavor within!

The donuts are huge and reasonably priced but rather doughy. The service was very slow though.

Go early, or the only thing left will be donuts with frosting that chips away on impact. Cinnamon rolls are yummy.

You'll beat the crowds and have a chance to enjoy the incredible views without feeling like you're in a mountain-top traffic jam. As for the food, let's just say I suspect I was served yesterday's donuts. They were cold, hard, and had all the charm of a hockey puck. The breakfast burrito was decent enough, and the chocolate milk helped wash everything down, although both felt a bit pricey for 8 ounces. The setup is straightforward cafeteria-style dining: grab your items, head to the register, and check out. The process is efficient, even if the customer service wasn't exactly as inspiring as the scenery outside. On the positive side, there is plenty of seating, and it's hard to complain when you're eating at the top of the world. I was also pleased to see full-time EMS staff on site. Given the altitude and remote location, it's reassuring to know medical assistance is readily available if needed. Overall, I highly recommend making the drive up Pikes Peak. The journey and views are absolutely worth the trip. Stop in for a beverage and maybe a breakfast burrito if you're hungry. Just be warned: if those donuts look familiar, they may have seen the summit sunrise yesterday.

Even better. They were warm, sweet, and hit the spot after that chilly ride to the summit. The views while you eat are absolutely unreal--you're literally above the clouds. The inside was clean, the staff was friendly, and everything felt well run despite the altitude. The food options are pretty limited, but that's understandable given the location. All in all, it's a fun, unique experience--definitely worth it for the donuts and the bragging rights alone.

Absolute great place for awesome yummy donuts and the friendliest people work here!…read moreMy sister and I stopped in today while we were waiting for our family to finish a hot air balloon ride. We planned on getting one donut each and coffee snd left with 7! The donuts are all beautiful and have delicious flavors- def NOT your grocery store variety! We had a blueberry streusel, bacon maple bar, Andes mint/ chocolate cake donut, raspberry filled, Bavarian cream maple, Carmel apple pie, and a peanut butter cup topped glaze- we cut them all up and shared between 4 of us. All fine and rave reviews!! The young man helping us was friendly and had great suggestions and was super patient with us - took us a bit to decide! If you're near this shop - just go! Treat yourself!! Oh the coffee was yum too ! We bought a bag to bring home! And it's a Veteran Owned business!!

As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by a counter full of creative, over-the-top donuts in just about every flavor you can imagine. There really is something for everyone. I'm not a fan of overly sweet desserts, so I kept it simple with a glazed donut and a strawberry cake donut to pair with my coffee. The glazed donut was enormous, light, and fluffy without being overly sweet. It paired perfectly with my cold brew. Move over, Krispy Kreme, you don't have a dog in this fight! The next morning, I enjoyed the strawberry cake donut with a hot cup of coffee, and it was just as delicious. Fresh, flavorful, and the perfect start to the day. Whether you're someone who loves classic donuts or you're feeling adventurous enough to try one of their wild specialty creations, Hurts Donut is absolutely worth the visit. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in town. Hurt's also offers a Military Discount.
