This place is a whole vibe!! If you like scary stuff this is the place to go. They have parking right in front of the store, when you first walk in it looks like one room but there are like 3 or 4 rooms and they are all full of merchandise. They have a plethora of items, some are true collectibles and range in the $100s but they also have funko pops, earrings, posters, pins and more that are very affordable. My kid got a Leatherface funko pop for her birthday, she loves all things horror. We will definitely be back! read more

If you are a huge horror fan Horror Freak is a must see. We went to Horror Freak for the first time today. They have a large variety of horror movies on VHS,Laser Disk,DvD,and blue ray. They also have a nice variety of toys,and collectables that I have never seen before. My goodness, this place was something else. Tucked back in what almost looks like a "quadplex" adjacent to a neighborhood, Horror Freak is but one part of a "freak" venture, it seems. Directly next door is Vintage Freak. Around the corner, where a witch is painted on the fence, is a witches store, but my review today is about Horror Freak. Goodness, again. Walking in, the place is a homage to horror in general, with a heavy emphasis on the 1980s. I, of course, went in seeking some Freddy Krueger paraphernalia, and was not disappointed. As most horror places go, this store was pretty Jason heavy, but no complaints there either. "What do they even sell?" you ask. Action figures, DVDs, stickers, Funko's, decor, dolls, T-shirts, and most importantly, local art. As I was looking through a really unique box of horror art by a local artist named Brad Albright, I found a wonderful piece of art from one of my all time favorites, The Twilight Zone, for only $30. Even better - It's art that comes with 3-D glasses. 3D Twilight Zone art?!?! What?!? On the way out I had to snag a sticker too. I wanted one of the legit shirts too, but I decided to hold off as an excuse to go back. If you have a little time to spare, check this place out. Save some time to look.at Vintage Freak too. I've been to Horror Freak many times, and I always really enjoy visiting the place. I don't always buy stuff when I go in, but just looking at all the cool memorabilia is fun for me. I've gotten some super awesome art prints and classic horror movies there too. The staff is always really chill and friendly. So when out picking some stuff out at the farmers market near by and then dropping off some donations to Central Arts I drove by the retro plaza that horror freak is located in. I had heard quite a bit about the various stores online and just hadn't had the chance to make it ... so I decided to swing in to the parking lot to see if they were open, because I wanted to go ahead and support a small local store if they are are open vs a big corporation. Plus with all of the stuff going on the horror convention I normally get a lot of goodies from had been moved from May to September. They had a number of neat items, picked up a couple prints and found out the person working, possibly the owner, has gone to the same convention I do for as long as we have. Hoping the retro plaza shops, including horror freak, survive and make it thru to the other side of all of this covid stuff. It might not be as big as somethings in LA but it's nice having stores like these that my friends and I wish we had in this area when I was in school 15/20 years ago. read more

I was planning on giving this place a go because I am a fan of the macabre, however I was blocked from their page for asking a simple question. "Where do you get your bats from?" I was going to calmly explain my concerns. But y'all BLOCKED me lmfao. I was blocked before I could ask, if any imported bats had CITES papers indicating they were legally imported. Oh wait- it's illegal to sell or possess bats and bat parts AT ALL in Texas. If you're going to sell taxidermy, understand the law. As for me? I'll go visit Austin for my horror, gruesome and weird needs. Thanks, and GFY. Great place new inventory all the time . Support your small business instead of trying to find reasons to post negativity. Go be a cheapskate at Wall mart and get the same stuff everybody else has or step up and pat for the shops hard work on making things available. read more

Cool little shop with some of your favorite horror essentials. This place is hidden in a little office strip and but not hard to find. Basically, if you know where Miguelitos is, it's just on the opposite side of Bedford-Euless Rd. Once you enter, there's a small area where you can peruse some cool horror collectibles or fan made art or oddities. Then, there's another room where you can look their their selection of horror dvds, blu-rays or VHS. All sorted into a few categories of Vampires, Monsters or Supernatural. Didn't really see a pattern to how the movies were shelved, but that just means you need spend some time looking through all the titles and looking for that gem you didn't know you wanted! This is a little hidden gem! The store is small but packed with cool horror collectibles and awesome horror themed art! And the movie room!! So many movies! They even have records and VHS! I've picked up some titles I've been searching for and some that just caught my eye :) The owner is nice and helpful and Is well versed in all things horror. Definitely a cool spot. read more

Shop is in a little shopping center, there's signage but nothing really around it to draw your eye. Owner is friendly and knows a lot about horror movies, and they have some very cool items. Lots of action figures, model kits, Living Dead Dolls, VHS/laserdisc/DVDs/Bluray, etc. But some of the prices are WHACK. There is a Labyrinth poster with a huge rip in the bottom, with thumbtack holes in the corners stuck up on the wall with a $25 price tag stuck directly on the poster. (Even if it's an original one-sheet and not a reprint, which the price wouldn't be bad for, it's in BAD condition and you put a price tag directly on it. It should be framed or in a sleeve for display.) A Blu-Ray of the remake of 'Friday the 13th' is $10 used when it's cheaper than that brand new on Amazon. Many of the VHS are very reasonably priced, $1-$5 each, with some great rare gems, and they have a nice selection of movies for sure. However the prices are just unrealistic on some items, many of the DVDs and BluRays are in very beat up cases or look like ex-rental copies, etc and are priced way too high for what they are. I've been collecting/dealing horror for over 20 years now so I'm pretty good at knowing what things are worth. Sorry, back issues of HorrorHound aren't worth $15 each... they were even selling the program from Texas Frightmare Weekend, which is given out free to attendees. If you're savvy with prices, however, you can get some cool items. I came in and got a big stack of movies and a rare book I didn't have during their Friday the 13th sale. I wouldn't have paid full price for some of these though if they weren't on special that day. I hope that they do well, DFW needs more niche shops like this (I'm spoiled by things like Dark Delicacies and Creature Feature in LA) and I want them to stay in business but they need to look at their pricing a little differently or run more specials, and I got kinda annoyed that when I mentioned to the owner that something was overpriced he deleted my comments from Facebook. You're a new business, you need to listen to feedback from customers. Think of this place like a horror garage sale; there are new items, used items, items on consignment from other collector, pieces from local artists (including some handmade prop replicas and figures), etc but you may stumble onto a great deal if you browse awhile. They're charging more than the average price on "exclusives" from other stores... when the other stores have them in stock, cheaper. I love supporting local businesses, but not when they price gouge. It's a neat little shop, but before you buy anything there, do your research first. You can probably get it from the original vendor for a much cheaper price, or even buy it online cheaper. read more
