Horizon was our first place because when we moved into our new home we found that there were still some visitors (a few mice) despite having "another" company come before move in and close any openings as well as treat, we still had them. It is now 2024: Even with our quarterly service agreement, despite the fact that these techs note being inside our home (which in 2023 was TWICE and this year only ONE TIME and that was an "inspection"), we STILL have mouse droppings in our finished basement and the Man Cave - unacceptable. After the above , thinking they had successfully done their job, we signed up for quarterly service and it was ok for a while. Marianne, our go to scheduler had really worked to make sure they came when someone was around to let them inside the house - the service is to treat interior and exterior. ... Fast forward to the 2023, 2024... Nothing is even close to the same. Phantom management, I have no idea who the techs are but I can tell you this: 2023: our quarterly service was TERRIBLE - we only had the interior done TWICE and it was sub par service - I literally requested the tech not just treat our basement! We need the 1st and 2nd floor sprayed and much to my dismay, he did 1/2 the 1st floor went to his truck and left & they got their money. 2024: We are looking at another company now... I took us off of auto pay. Now I have checked the dates they say they were in our home more than 1 time. Sadly, this entire year, ONE tech was inside and he didn't treat anything but called it an inspection, in which he must have forgotten to actually LOOK. Something has to be really wrong for me to post a poor review, I don't know what has happened with Horizon but if it's not fixed 100% within the month, we will be stopping the service that we aren't getting anyway (just paying for it) & go with someone else. We had Horizon to our house to remove a (recently-vacated) bird's nest from a second floor exhaust fan. Jeff arrived right on schedule and began working on it. It was a much more complicated problem than it first seemed, but he took the time to get it cleaned out and disinfected. He was very friendly, knowledgeable, and a pleasure to work with. I'd recommend Horizon to anyone with a similar issue. read more

Finally had enough and canceled our contract. We've had missed quarterly appointments, required us to notice, call and chase them down. The last straw was when we contracted a 90 day service and they ended the service 30 days early. We were never enamored with Horizon but went with them because a friend worked there. You don't want sketchy and dishonest people at your house. You don't want a company that hires disinterested and rude people. Here's the story, I have a 2 family. No one shows up for the quarterly spray, but I get an email alert anyway about a service that it was completed. I call the company. They said someone did come and rang the doorbell, which was not the case since I have a ring doorbell and I had an eye outside within the window of time they marked on their email for when the service was done. They said the employee also completed service on the other unit of the 2 family, but they weren't home to answer the door. They have the dishonest employee return to my house and tell me that he didn't know he had to do both sides, which is impossible because you can't assume what side is the right side, it would be a total guess. Even in that scenario he would have to confirm which side to do. (But the pattern of dishonesty continues). He comes back and refuses to apologize or accept that it was his fault. Of course he never did anything to begin with so naturally he defends his dishonesty. He asks me if I had any issues and I said no, it's a quarterly service so he's supposed to check around himself and see any signs. He said ok and said he will dust the exterior. He goes ahead and dusts only the front door and leaves. He had in his write up that I refused indoor inspection and that he went all the way around my house and serviced the side and rear, which he did not. The company heard my complaints and said a manager would call me, but that never happened. When it comes to your home, the last thing you want are bad people around and going inside your home. You cannot trust this company. read more

Have been a customer for 6 years for both yard and home service. Was mostly ok, but have become more and more disappointed with customer service. You generally have to chase them to schedule service when it is most needed. They have recently switched to a new billing system and the normal online bill pay check from my bank stopped working. You are on your own figuring it out and fixing it and ultimately they don't seem to care a lot about retaining customers. Probably busy enough. Price for home guard and yard guard seems fine (at least when they actually do it during mosquito season, which has become an issue for us). Exclusion service was very expensive for what it was. Trying other providers now. read more

Had a $1,200/year contract for yard and house service and experienced very poor customer service for yellow jackets. Service was not timely and also ineffective. Still had yellow jackets in same spot month after treatment. Had to come back. Tons of issues. Failed to return calls. Tried to hold me to a contract when they didn't do what promised and I tried to cancel. Management unhelpful. Blamed the customer. Would use another service in area before this one. read more

Some roaches must have come in with a food delivery. My first treatment by another company did a bit of good but they continued to breed. Horizon, a family business, came and did a major treatment of my downstairs. Roaches disappeared for a while but one or 2 would reappear occasionally. Without even a hesitation they've come as a follow-up. Each of their people are friendly, informative, dedicated to their work and ridding your house of pests. They're also very caring about your animals and their safety. On a scale of 1-10, I'd give them an eleven. They stand by their service. read more

I had a mice issue in late December 2022 and researched several exterminators in the area before going with Horizon. I chose them because their price was competitive (not the cheapest but not the most expensive), and more importantly, the employees i interacted with were all courteous, non-judgmental and were very knowledgeable about pest control. I purchased the HG protection plan which has quarterly follow up treatments in addition to the two initial treatments. Bart was the technician who did the quote and initial treatments; not only was he was extremely thorough, he took the time to explain in detail to me what he was doing and why he was doing it, which I greatly appreciated. Fortunately, I have not experienced any mice issues since, but the other technicians who have come for my quarterly follow ups so far were also efficient and friendly. I would highly recommend Horizon Pest Control to anyone with a pest issue. read more

The worst pest control company I've ever dealt with. They do little to nothing to honor the yearly contract they encourage you to take. I had an ant problem that took over a month to resolve, with ants spilling out onto my counter for the entirety. They had to come back over and over and finally decided to also close up the hole where they were coming in. It took a 2 inch line of calking. They then told me they did that as a favor. They come every few months and "spray" the basement except there are just as many centipedes and spiders as before they came. My daughter had to kill them as needed. They are awful but try to get you to sign on for a year. Never again. read more

I've been with them for nearly 2 decades and their service has seriously deteriorated over recent years. They used to be very good. I'll likely switch to another company soon. Horizon's techs change often for other jobs (better companies) and they don't show up when their are confirmed for an appointment. That's unfortunate for those of us who take off from work to be present for the techs to get into our homes. Instead of eradicating a problem, they seem to just keep customers dangling with temporary solutions. The same problems continue for years and years so we customers have to keep calling Horizon year after year and paying them to keep pest problems somewhat contained but never eradicated. My prior pest control people came once and took care of things and I did not have to call them for a few years. read more

I was receiving monthly service for $30.00 per month- then I get a call from Tim-the general manager who tells me that they need to raise my rate to $90.00 per month. Are they for real- 3x's more. I am not even sure if that is legal. In addition, the last tech refused to put down glue boards- stating that it was too much bending down-that the poison would suffice and that glue boards were not necessary. Stay far far far away. I would not recommend this Pest Control company to anyone. We hired them to give us year round protection for inside and outside to the tune of 800 plus dollars for the year. We had a bees nest on our deck and they were called three times to come and take care of this. I told them exactly where the nest was right on the deck and they never killed the wasps. We did not pay them, and they did not come back to take care of the bill. They threatened collection for not paying the bill when they did not do the service. Unreliable service. If you want things done right and effectively, don't call this company. At the first sign of bed bugs with bites and trails and droppings on my sheets, I started vacuuming, spraying this non toxic bed bug spray and washing bedding constantly. This company sent out a consultant to do a (free) investigation. The consultant went around my apt with his reading glasses and a flashlight turning my bed over, cutting himself on my bedframe and dropping his own blood on my bed which made me even more nervous. I didn't have bandaids but I gave him alcohol to clean it. I had bed bug casing on my bed and box spring that had some holes. Yet, "he found no evidence of bed bugs" and cannot fumigate unless he sees physical evidence himself aside from the pictures I've taken of the bites and trails of blood on my bedding. I can't count how many times he asked me if I've actually seen any bugs. He said he can comeback to do another investigation (for a fee, I suppose because the first visit was free). His advice to me was to do nothing for a couple of days - no spraying, no vacuuming, and no washing bedding. So he can come back and see physical evidence. In other words, sleep every night being bait so a huge infestation can spread begin and spread to my 5 other neighbors in the building. Horrible methods! read more

Never use Horizon Pest Control. Sales consultant told me that I could get a discount on a yearly service if I paid in full, which I did. I didn't think I would need a yearly service, however, the sales consultant told me that I could cancel anytime prior to the first service if I changed my mind. When I received a notice scheduling the first service, I called the office and tried to cancel. The woman was rude and told me that I could cancel but I would be billed for the first service anyway. When I told her what the sales consultant advised me, she said, "Read your contract." The woman said that a Manager would call me, however, I never received a call and the service was performed when I was not home. Misleading and deceptive business practices just to get work. Not the way to conduct business. read more

Not sure if they are over-worked, scammers, discriminatory or all of the above. We contracted them to help us with raccoons in our attic in March 2014. They placed several traps outside and caught some. Then they continued to place traps outside and also inside saying that if they closed the roof and an animal was trapped then it would make a hole through our house. Now it is June end, they still have their traps outside and after several phone calls, no one has taken the tarps out. The food inside has fungus and it is rotting. They told us they would close the roof and place a final trap inside. However when the roofing guy came, he simply closed everything , placed a one way tunnel (in the wrong spot) and left. when I called the supervisor yelled at me and said nature would take care of things and the animal would get out. Now I hear the animal scratching and trying to get out with no way to leave. I am afraid we might have a dead raccoon. I have called Horizon. They said someone would come to our house to close and re-position the one way tunnel. between 12 -3 - It is 3:30 and no one is here yet. Also the cages are still outside and nobody seems to be coming to get them. The supervisor refuses to send the animal control guy as well. They are very poor communicators , unprofessional and I do not think they did a good job. read more

The team at Horizon really came to the rescue for me! We have a dog that picked up some fleas a week before I was expected to deliver our first baby....bad timing to say the least! I called Horizon and they scheduled an appointment for the next day to spray the outside of my house to take care of fleas, ticks, etc. It was so easy to make an appt, special thanks to Nicole in Client Services who put me at ease and helped figure out the best attack plan (not to mention calm me down when I was a very pregnant mess). Horizon showed up the next day, prompt, super friendly and confident they would be able to help us out...thanks to Anthony for doing an outstanding job! We haven't seen any fleas or anything that could come in on the dog so all is well now. I definitely plan to use Horizon on a regular basis to keep up with seasons and all the unwanted outdoor critters!
