Wanted to try a new place and had passed this one a few times. Decided to stop tonight and am so glad we did. We sat at the bar because the place was packed, it is a Saturday night after all. The bartenders were fantastic and friendly. We ordered our poor man's martinis, beers with olives, yum. They were presented nicely and with a smile. After a recommendation from a customer we ordered a bone in burger with mushrooms and onions, the duck chips, and the Mac n cheese. Oh my goodness, both sides were really really good. But you talk about that burger... hands down the best burger I have ever had. I mean I am not. Spring chicken and this was so incredibly flavorful and juicy and BIG, 22 oz of meat!! Our experience today was AMAZING *you have to say it in a sing-song voice* !!! Our server, Maddie, was so helpful and attentive but not overbearing. She explained one of the side items on the menu to me (red pepper bisque is a soup btw!) and was definitely tipped well for her effort. Moms night out and my friend chose. Walked in and hostess said 35 minute wait so we grabbed a table out back under the heat lamps. We were greeted by a sweet waitress Taji, who gave us menus and took our drink orders. She was delightful! We ordered the Fried Chicken Pot Pie and the Original Burger. The Frozen Firecracker is gorgeous and so yummy. I opted for a cherry coke. I'm the DD. The food arrived hot and wow! Chef Dwight came to check on us. He was adorable. We also got the S'mores dessert. When I say wow!, I mean WOW! You make your own with a little fire pot. It's only $10 for 4 s'mores. And with just 2 of us it was a perfect dessert. I would give this place negative stars if I could. We went for our 45th anniversary. The food was awful and the service was worse. My husband had to get up and go find someone to refill our tea. My baked potato was so cold the butter was like a dip of hard ice cream with no chance of it melting. I sent it back and got one exactly the same. The burgers all came out wrong. They seriously branded H76 into the top of tastiest bun I've ever eaten, which held an absolute BEAST of a burger! The sauce that I have is that several of the items delivered to our table were definitely not HOT!!! The vegetable were fresh not frozen and that's a plus, even properly seasoned but COLD??? The Salmon while a little overcooked was tasty but the Wild Rice side was also COLD??? It's not that they were slammed or understaffed either. Dined-in at this establishment on a light afternoon. Walked in and got seated immediately. Service was fantastic. Troy was very attentive and did a phenomenal taking our order and making recommendations. The restaurant and restrooms itself was clean. It was nice to see some plexiglass between booth seats (I imagine for precautions against COVID). Only physical/comfort gripe I had was the booth seat that I happened to be in. The booths may not be completely secured and it was made very apparent because the connecting booth behind me shook my seat regularly. Every leg shake, scooch, and cut into food from the individual behind could be aggressively felt to the point it shook the plexiglass back and forth fairly vigorously. The wait for the food itself wasn't bad, maybe about 5-10 minutes. Our table ordered: Bacon Wrapped Shrimp Appetizer: This order on its own is large enough as a meal on it's own. It came with seasoned rice and a slice of he jalapeno cheese bread. Shrimps were well seasoned and cooked properly. Bacon was somewhat crispy. Jalapeno Cheese bread had good flavor, but consistency was closer to that of maybe a beer bread and maybe a bit chewier. Many may like it, but wasn't exactly my cup of tea. Seasoned rice tasted overly seasoned and no one at the booth was partial to it. American Signature Bone-In 22 oz. Burger - This burger was huge! Presentation of the burger with the bone-in it looked fantastic. There was an option have it classic American burger style with the lettuce, tomato, and pickle or steakhouse style with the grilled onion and mushrooms. I ordered it with the grilled onions and mushrooms. Was NOT DISAPPOINTED with this burger. The burger itself and quality/taste of the beef in the burger was amazing. It was large enough to feed 2-3 people IMO. This entree comes with a choice of 2 sides. We had the duck fat fries and a slice of jalapeno cheese bread. The duck fat fries were great! Well seasoned and crispy. I was impartial on the bread because of the consistency, but the flavor was not bad. Let me start off by saying - their food is absolutely AMAZING. Fresh, local, and delicious. However, their service needs major improvement. I am totally rooting for this locally owned business to succeed. However, the speed at which people are greeted at the door, seated, and get their food and drink need to speed up! Stopped here for lunch on the way home to New Braunfels. Staff were very friendly, understanding, and attentive and made suggestions when I asked. There were several big-screen TVs over the bar and a high-resolution digital display that changed pretty often. Husband was on a business call out in our truck. I ordered and told them I'd be ordering for him later into my lunch. I ordered the Cowgirl Steak Salad, with the beef cooked medium-rare, with blue cheese dressing on the side. The beef was PERFECTLY cooked and very tasty and that is the justification I used for paying $15+ for a salad that is, IN MY EXPERIENCE, rather on the smaller side for a lunch salad. Some restaurants serve a ginormous salad for that amount. The lettuce was starting to look a little tired, but was acceptable. Could've been fresher. I was glad I asked for the blue cheese dressing on the side as I didn't even use half of it. My salad was over $5 more than my husband's lunch of the American Backyard Burger. Don't get me wrong. It was IMHO the perfect size lunch salad for me and, as mentioned before, the steak was delicious. Hubs' hamburger was devoured nicely on the outdoor deck as he was still on his business call even after I finished. I had really hoped he'd order the duck fat fries so I could grab a few, as they came highly reviewed in the posted reviews I had read to determine where to have lunch. He said it was "good - not over the top, but good. It was a lot of meat." He's not a huge foodie like I am. I didn't really get a good look at it as he was served outside and it was gone by the time I went out there to check on him. All in all a good experience. My salmon dish was cooked perfect and came out hot and fairly quick. I really appreciated my waitress giving me more lemon for my water when she filled it up. The reason I'm giving it 3 stars is because the food really wasn't that good to me and it's more expensive imo, than it should be. We had the duck fries appetizer and it was good but so small. Like a side order. I ordered the chicken fried filet and couldn't finish it. It seemed to needed to be cooked longer because the batter wasn't even golden. My husband and I both felt our food had no seasoning. But our kids did really like their burger and sandwiches. The food and drink menu was pretty good, it had a good variety of different options. It made it hard to pick but our waitress was very kind and helpful. First time and probably the last time. Ordered Texas strip steak dinner to share, had to order bread separately. Bread was $7.00 and came to table cold. Steak was undercooked, had to be sent back to kitchen. Steak was definitely not tender, as advertised on menu, nor was it tasty. Mediocre, at best. The only items that were really even very enjoyably tasty were the mashed potatoes and the grilled veggies. $50.82 for one less than mediocre steak dinner, cold bread, one iced tea, one iced water, tax, and less than average service. Maybe we made a mistake ordering steak at this restaurant, but if you can't do it right, don't offer it on the menu. The menu has lots of different options on it, so you should be able to find just the right thing for your taste. I had peaked at the pictures online before coming and had seen the chicken pot pie. When I asked the waitress if it was good, her answer was simply, "It is made by Angels." Well, she did not exaggerate. The dish was amazing and had so many different layers to it. The filling was flavorful and not over-stuffed with potatoes or other vegetables used as filler; there were chunks of fried chicken fingers in a savory sauce. This was topped with a pie crust topping, a puff pastry square, and another chicken finger sits on top of the pastry. We've heard about this new restaurant and damn glad we tried it. This is an instance where Yelp needs to add a bonus star for deserving places. I didn't get any pictures but the decor is breathtaking to a true Texan. They spent a lot of money and time taking you to the hill country while you dine. What really set this place apart is that the Chef comes out and talks to the tables. So he helped us pick our entrees. His passion for food was very obvious but showed later when we sunk our teeth in. Based on the Chef's recommendation my wife ordered the bone in ribeye burger and I had the Chicken Fried filet. When the plates came out I was in awe. The presentation was incredible but didn't even compare to the taste. Everything is made from scratch and every bit has so much flavor. The chicken fried was spot on perfect. I stole a bite of my wife's ribeye burger and it left me speechless. The flavor of the ribeye and burger combination was over the top. Did I forget the sides? My wife had fries which were good. But! I had the macaroni and it was life altering good. My wife had to stop me from trying to lick the plate clean good! Even though we were close to full we had to try the American Apple Pie. It comes out on a hot plate with vanilla bean homemade ice cream on top and you can smell it coming.
