We came here looking for a dinner spot near Redondo Union HS. We luckily beat the crowd and were seated right away (around 5pm). By the time we left the restaurant was full and there were several parties waiting. The seating in the middle may be shared with other parties, but we were seated at one of the side tables. Although a brewery only one in our party ordered a beer. Our group started with one of their specials, a flatbread with pesto and burrito. It was delicious. Everyone enjoyed their food, and the only negative was that the pulled pork flatbread didn't have enough pork. There were many other items we wanted to try so we will visit the area again. read more

Food was good, a bit on the pricey side to be honest. My experience was pretty lame given the long wait time between sitting down and being served. For context we sat and ordered a drink ($4 bucks for a Diet Coke, refills are charged) and then we waited, and waited, the table next to us actually had time to return an entire entire and get another completely new one delivered before the waiter returned to take our order. It was not full or even particularly busy as far as I could tell. When the waiter did arrive they acknowledged the long wait time by saying "you all must be ready to order" which we were, because we had waited probably about 20-30 minutes for the waiter to return. I had chili, one of the specials on Sundays. It was good, portion size is smaller but it is "burnt end chili" so I imagine they don't want to give you much a large size...that said, I'd recommend you have some free time before coming for a visit. We also had deviled eggs, which are expensive for two eggs cut in half ($10). I don't know that I'll be rushing back but my experience may be unique. read more

HopSaint has AMAZING food. If you like IPAs this is also a great place to visit! I'm not a big fan of IPAs and their other beers are usually just ok but the food... is so worth it... Staff wear masks and face shields. Tables are spread out but some in some spots you sit pretty close to others. No inside seating is available and if you're there around 6 pm on a weekend you'll have to wait like an hour to make sure to call earlier and leave your name! read more

I only got to try one beer, a pilsner, and it was quite good. Good representation of the style overall. I liked this place for its atmosphere, vibe, service, and food. The food is interesting. The ingredients are nothing crazy, but the way they've combined them has made for some unique items. They're going for some sort of Gulf Coast thing: Louisiana + Texas BBQ. Hey, I like both of those a lot! Had some small plates: pulled pork poutine, andouille sausage, and shrimp. It was all very good. Then the "Saint" for dessert, which was pretty amazing and worth it. This is a pretty nondescript place and the strip mall it's in looks like... well, it looks like Torrance. A few outside tables, a bar inside. Inside was a little hot but felt very airy with the high ceilings and plants. It was also loud inside, but it's a brewery, so... They seemed to have a really good crowd and the vibe was relaxed and welcoming. The server was probably one of the better servers I've had in a while, at least for a place at this price point. He took the time to explain the food and, with the poutine, mentioned that it was their take on poutine and I shouldn't expect real poutine to come out (I guess not many people know what it is?). But also had good recommendations and seemed to really know the menu. And I would say the same for the food: value. You're paying pretty normal restaurant prices here, but the food quality is really good and - like I said - it's interesting. So you're not spending $100 per seat and dealing with pretentious asswipes and having to make a reservation, but rather more like $20, if that, and the people here are just cool. So I was impressed, but I honestly don't ever have very high expectations for random breweries I visit. I would come back though. read more

We got there @ 5:45pm assuming we 'should be able to' get a table...wrong! Even the parking was very busy, and had to park towards the end of 99cent lot. We were told it'd be 30 min wait. Not sure if I was up for it, but my friend was committed to eat there, ... After 45 min (around 6:30pm) when lots of families with smaller kids started to leave, we were given a table finally! Bar area seemed to have quicker turn around - that might be an easier seating option if all tables are occupied. Got brisket, bacon mac n cheese, killer shrimp - they were as good as I remembered, and our server was friendly plus efficient. While the menu says brisket is Wed/Sat special, they might have it other days - you should ask! So, in spite of the long wait, I would still give them 4-stars. read more

A very hip and chic neighborhood restaurant and brewery, there are so many breweries in Torrance but this one is unique cause it has a full menu with amazing comfort food and daily specials. We came in on a Sunday early afternoon, it was packed but there was a table for two available at the moment so we didn't have to wait at all. The craft beer list was so impressive, they also have a bunch of bottle beers, ciders and wines. I decided to do beer taster, hubby ordered a pint, mostly I tried hoppy IPAs cause they are my favorites, the Duke of Haze-rd IPA was so refreshing and strong so I had to order another pint after the taster. For food we tried grilled chicken flatbread, blackened catfish po boy, chicken and shrimps jambalaya with grits and Sunday all day special burrito French toast. Most of the food was so flavorful and comforting except the catfish was a little overdone, but the hot sauce our waitress gave to me was so good. I especially liked the jambalaya even though it was a bit different from regular ones cause it came with grits not rice or pasta. Portions were decent and prices were fair, our waitress was also very friendly and attentive even though she was so busy all the time. I really liked this brewery restaurant cause it's a real sit down restaurant with amazing craft beers, think we will come back real soon! read more

Convert coffee shop becomes a brewery style eatery. The beer selection was fire but the quality of the food was so so. There was insufficient waitstaff for the amount of customers which caused long wait times on placing orders. The food took forever (1.5 hrs after placing the order) and arrived to our table cold with our fries and potatoes raw in the middle. The waitstaff brought the attention of this matter to their manager and we were told that this is the way the food comes. I noticed earlier when I went to the bathroom the staff was taking the food from the other tables back to the kitchen. I watched the manager examine the food and comment, yes that's under cooked. We just didn't eat the fries and potatoes and suffered through our cold meals. read more

Excellent Southern food with a flair and hospitality! I went for the first time for lunch on a Thursday with a friend. It will not be the last time for either of us. I know it sounds crazy but we did not order beer... something I may do on my next visit. The food menu is versatile and creative. I grew up in Texas, and the smell of the smoked brisket that greeted me at the door took me back to all the barbeque shacks on the sides of the roads that had some of the best barbeque. Hopsaint rivals them for sure and probably has the best smoked brisket I've had in my nearly 30 years in Southern California... and it's just down the road! As hard as it was to resist the brisket for lunch (more about that in a minute), I ordered the fried catfish that includes a side of smoked mustard greens and beans and rice. As a Southern girl at heart, finding fried catfish with cornmeal or corn flour is a challenge here in Southern California, and the few places that offer it do not always get it right or are very expensive or are a decent drive away from me. Hopsaint knocked it out of the ballpark. I was in heaven... or on my parents' big front porch for a family fish fry. Food that takes you home is pretty special in my book. The smoked mustard greens were flavorful and unique; they were not braised or laden with fat, and were full of flavor. The beans and rice were spot on, and that says a lot from someone who grew up eating beans and rice next to Cajun Country. My friend ordered the pulled pork sandwich, and let me have a small bit of it. Oh my goodness! The pork was tender, sweet and with a nice little kick. It had the perfect bit of crispy bits, too, and so very moist. I think we'll be making many more visits here. Oh, and as for the brisket, I ordered the brisket daily special as takeout to have the next day. I made the mistake of taking a peak into the container later that night, and succumbed to the call of the brisket. The brisket had that lovely smoke flavor throughout, but not overpowering. The meat was succulent with a great balance oof lean and less lean (where the umami lives). There was a perfect amount of char on the outside to seal in the flavors. The coleslaw, which I did have the next day, was quite flavorful and not too creamy. The portions for all of the food were generous. My only regret is that I did not come here sooner. read more

Came into town for a quick trip to Redondo, to Get out of the heat where I originally stay: Well that was a bust because it was still 102 in Redondo. So we left and found this cute little brewery. They had a small setup and mostly friendly service. To be honest i am rating HopSaint three stars simply for the service that I received from one employee. I was spoken to very disrespectfully and it completely made me uncomfortable the rest of the visit. I had one drink and had to leave. I tried the flight, four for $8 - not too shabby! The place also offers wines and ciders by the can. Now onto the food, I was lurking around and gave in.. I got the fried catfish - lightly battered and perfectly cooked... I don't know what kind of sauce they had but man was is freaking delicious, seriously demolished the plate in 5 minutes or less. A cold brew and good food is what you are looking for then this is the place. It does get a little busy so be patient and wait because you will enjoy the drinks, food and ambiance. If you're not an IPA fan but want to try something close to it then let me introduce you to its cousin the Sweet Baby Haze. Sweet Baby Haze is a Hazy Pale Ale that will satisfy your IPA craving. Juicy peach and citrus smooth with a tangy sweet hoppy finish. It's a very good and refreshing beer that's not heavy on the hops and smooth at every drink. Andouille Sausage - Lexington red slaw, Carolina mustard BBQ sauce that had some type of kick. It was a good sausage. Smoked Jidori Chicken Drumettes - better know as chicken wings. They come with pickled vegetables, spicy general TSO and Carolina Mustard BBQ. These also come with a very tasty blue cheese dressing. Good Wings! Braised Southern Greens Collards & Kales - Looked like Brussel sprouts with onions, garlic and applewood smoked bacon. Charred very nicely and that bacon adds a nice salty flavor to the greens. These are very well executed and you should try them. Hopsaint Burger - The burger was supposed to be cooked medium but came out a little on the well side. Some thousand island spread on the bun with cheddar cheese, butter lettuce, sliced tomato, red onions with some torn potatoes on the side. Of course I had to add some bacon and a fried egg. The fried egg was a little too fried because it had no runny yolk to it. The torn potatoes was something new for me but were great. A nice crisp outer layer with a soft middle. Nice play on fries but Much better. The next time I hope the meat is medium as ordered to add that juiciness at every bite. Overall it was a very good burger. Was in the area for a birthday party on Sunday morning and chose this place based on the reviews. Yelp didn't disappoint. First off, they have a veriety of their own beers here, my favorite being the Baby Haze. It was a seasonable juicy IPA with just the right balance of flavors. It really compliments the southern food without being too overpowering while still holding its own. Too bad they didn't have any of their own double hazy IPAs (they did have Mikellar and Modern times as guest taps). For the food we had: Duck Gumbo: This dish was TOPS. It's the best gumbo in Southern California. The gumbo had an excellent smoky flavor, the duck was tender, and it was just packed with flavor. I could've probably eaten 3 more bowls. It was that good. For reference, my current favorite gumbo is from La Revolucion in New Orleans...so I'm no stranger to gumbos. Tri tip sandwich: This was a solid sandwich. Provender: this is a great spot to grab a few drinks or a bite to eat. They offer a great selection of craft beer and two of them are award winners. I tried the Kolsch, which is a pilsner. It was light and refreshing. I also ordered the tri tip sandwich, which was also good. Prices: beers are about $7 and entrees range. Parking: ample parking. The brewery is in a long shopping plaza, so you should be able to find a spot relatively easily. People: fun for all, but the later it gets it becomes more adult oriented. Love, love, love this place. Great place for good beers, good food and good time with your crew. It's a happening place. I've brought my family & friends here on separate occasions. IMHO, i think it's a great place to meet up with your adult buddies or coworkers. However, the food is great for the whole family including kids. They do get busy at night so go early. Let's start with the food. I always have to have the Hopsaint Killer Shrimp every time I visit. It's a flavor burst in your mouth. All the ingredients just work and leaves you wanting more. I'd just be satisfied just eating that... dipping the bread into the creamy tomato bisque. Mmm... Not to say other items on menu does not compete. If you got a sizable group or appetite, I'd recommend ordering the Hop Saint BBQ plate or smoked brisket. It's a good shareable plate. Note: It's while supplies last for that day so go early or cross your fingers. Their carnitas are great as well. Their flatbread items are superb. I wasn't particularly a fan of their chicken dishes. That's just me. Sides are great especially the brussel sprouts one & pulled pork poutine. Mac n' cheese is popular amongst our kids. All in all, they all good shareable plates. I'd recommend ordering as many as you'd like and try them all. Everyone has different palates, so you be the judge! :) Now da beers... da Bears (see what I did there... SNL). Anyways, I've had the Kolsch Enough, Hopsaint IPA, and Pure Intention. All great but my fave is Pure Intention and would recommend trying that one. Hopsaint Brewery is one of the better breweries in South Bay, which has many to choose from. With a large, clean, & comfortable dining room, excellent beer, and delicious food, I'd recommend it to anyone, families, couples, or singles. The vibe is laid back and has a restaurant vs. tasting room/bar feel. Parking and the entrance are off 190th street. After you enter, the bar is right in front of you, and the large dining room is on the left. The bar has a wooden top without a rail, a white tile bar face, and a box footrest. The barstools have a wooden seat and back support. Large HDTVs, growler shelves, and taps line the back bar. Hopsaint's beer selection is extensive, and their beers are great. Though all their lower-IBU beers are incredible, if I could only order two, it would be Zuper Saazer Pils and OB Blonde Kenobi. But aside from the stout and nitro, which I simply don't like, I'd drank any of them. As if their beers weren't enough, Hopsaint put equal time into their kitchen and menu. The food is absolutely delicious. My favorite is the BBQ, but again, they do everything well. Finally, the service is fast and friendly. Wish I lived closer to Hopsaint. OK I had to update my review because I just came by again for date night. My boyfriend and I really love this place. We sat by the bar before the table was ready to grab a drink. The hostess was very sweet and accommodating since the wait was 25 mins. It took much shorter to get seated. This time, we ordered the Killer Shrimp, Chorizo Flatbread and the Tri Dip Sandwich. EVERYTHING was so freaking delicious. Killer Shrimp: We understand the hype and why everyone orders this. You need to try it. I love the bread that comes with it. It's perfectly oiled, salted, and warmed. It goes so well with the super rich sauce. I thought the sauce would be a lot thicker but still, it was amazing. There are 5 pieces of shrimp (surprised that it came with that many!). Chorizo Flatbread: This was delicious but not as delicious as the shrimp or the sandwich. I really loved the sauce and the cilantro! Tri Dip Sandwich: I honestly thought that the tri tip would be very tough/chewy. It was surprisingly SOFT and the dip was amazing. Came here for dinner with some friends. The nice thing about this being a brewery and restaurant is that you can sit at the bar and have a drink while you wait for your table or wait for your friends to arrive! There were six of us in total, and they had a booth that fit the size of our party perfectly. Service was a bit lacking. We felt like we weren't really checked on and had to constantly wave down our server for water refills, the check, etc. Food: - Smoked Duck and Andouille Gumbo - Basmati rice, charred onion, duck, and Andouille sausage with a side of grilled corn bread. To be honest, this dish was pretty disappointing. A couple of other people in my party agreed that something tasted off, but we couldn't quite put our finger on what it was. The flavor was just not appealing. - Southern Fried Catfish - Anson Mills Sea Island red peas, Carolina gold rice, spigarello, and creole mustard sauce. To sum it up, it was A-OK. The catfish itself was pretty good, but the other ingredients were mediocre. - Chocolate Brioche Bread Pudding - Bread pudding is served with crème anglaise and whipped cream in an iron skillet. This place is "Hop"ing for sure even on a weekday afternoon! Lots of craft beer selection, nice service, food is ok. Came here with a coworker one afternoon after work to check out some of their craft beer selection as my coworker was raving about this place. They had a HUGE selection on tap, and I was told that many of them are seasonal and not always on tap, which is cool if you like variety. I tried several of the light fruity ones and they were all really tasty and I don't even like beer. As for food, we ordered the short rib, brussel sprouts and the burger. The short ribs was smoked to perfection, moist and flavorful. Love it! The brussel sprouts were also really tasty made with bacon bits, how could it not be good? The burger was so so, didn't like it. Service was attentive, our server was able to recommend things based on what you like which is pretty cool. The interior is modern and industrial equipped with lots of TV for sport fans. The large silver brewing tanks are really cool to see. Definitely a hip spot! Parking was hard to find, so plan accordingly. read more

Love, love, love this little joint. Been here half a dozen times and I can't get enough of this place. What I loved: 1) Shrimp dish. It's these large shrimp bathing in this flavorful creamy, tomatoey broth. It comes with a freshly toasted baguette for dipping. I've learned that I need to order extra bread when I place the order because what normally comes with it is not enough for me. And, if I eat enough bread, it could easily be a meal. 2) Poutine - Can't go wrong with torn potato pieces, covered in gravy with chunks of pork. I would have liked a little more gravy on it, but it was still delicious as served. 3) cheese flatbread was perfect for the kiddos. Basically pizza without sauce (probably why the kids loved it). 4) Cornbread, hot, buttery, fresh and sweet! 5) meat platter for two-it's a good sampler of everything! 6) the Olive app I hear is really tasty. My fiend ordered but not a fan of olives so can't speak to that. The atmosphere is very casual and friendly, I can bring my kids and not feel guilty about them Disrupting other guests since it's pretty noisy inside. The bench seating is good for the kids too. Pricing isn't too bad. They also have a large beer selection. Haven't fined with drinks but I can imagine it's a popular spot to watch various sporting events. Review for Breakfast: Not the best options... we had no choice since they only had their breakfast menu when we arrived. The breakfast choices are expensive to begin with, then cost extra to add things like meat to them. Our server was brand new, so I am not sure if there was a misunderstanding from him, but we were told that the Jambalaya scramble only included what was listed for the description (aged cheddar, arugula, toast), and you would have to add andouille sausage to if if desired, making it a pretty expensive item ($11 + $5 add). $11 for scrambled eggs with cheese and arugula is expensive - and how is that jambalaya?? Either we were misinformed, and the menu should state it includes sausage (as it should with its name), or it should be renamed. In any case, the best option appeared to be the breakfast burrito ($15), which all 3 of us ordered with chicken. Very expensive burrito and I was very let down to find barely any chicken in it. Apparently one of the burrito had plenty of chicken, but I am reviewing my experience and paying $15 for a potato burrito. It was also odd to have half the burrito with salsa on top, and the other half with gauc on top. We would have preferred these items on the side. The salsa was sort of sweet and not really enjoyed or preferred for the burrito flavor. Overall, a very expensive and mediocre breakfast. I wish we could have ordered from the lunch menu, which looked awesome. Most of the guests started packing in after noon hit, and all the food being delivered made me envious. So, skip breakfast, come for lunch/dinner. I did get "it's Hazy, not Lazy" (NE-style IPA) which had the appearance of a heff and I felt the flavor was perfectly explained by the description. So if the description appeals to you, you will not be let down. I know this place is super popular and has great beer and offerings. I really liked the atmosphere, it is very child-friendly and light and bright which the charm of the old diner's architecture. I finally had the chance to come to HopSaint after talking about it w/ a co-worker. I'm glad I did. HS is located on 190th St just West of Anza in Torrance, across from previously reviewed Big Mike's. We started off w/ the deviled eggs w/ smoked pork ($7) and the drumettes ($9). In addition, we had a couple of flights ($8) to determine what we wanted a full pour of later ($7). First of all, the deviled eggs were tasty AF. The smoked pork added crunch and saltiness to an already good thing: 5 Stars. Conversely, the wings were just OK. I prefer the drum of a wing that has more flavor: 3 Star. Thirdly, the beers were good, but the bartender short poured us. I fukn hate that!: 4 Stars on the beer, 2 Stars on the bartender. For our entrees, we ordered the smoked ribs ($13), the burger ($13), creole chicken sandwich ($13), and the catfish po'boy ($15 - only the latter is pictured). Each entrée comes with a side. I chose fried potatoes. We also ordered brussel sprouts to share ($10). My co-workers liked their entrees. The smoked ribs were tender, the burger was juicy & large, and the chicken sandwich was moist & tender: 4 Stars. On the other hand, I thought my catfish sandwich tasted OK but was overpriced. It was blackened vs fried, which left it a bit dry. I asked for a sauce to rescue it and it did the trick. However, a traditional catfish po'boy would be fried, the lettuce would be shredded, and the sandwich would have pickles and tartar or remoulade sauce: 3 Stars. Lastly, the fried potatoes were surprisingly very good. They were super crispy & piping hot. I was expecting more of a softer, breakfast potato texture in the center. I believe they were twice fried: 5 Stars. Regarding the brussel sprouts, they were winnahz. The portion was large for the price, they were crunchy & not overcooked, and the taste was fantastic: 5 Stars. The service from our waitress Lala was stellar. She was super nice, memorized all our orders w/o writing them down (no mistakes), and was very attentive. In addition, she was, ooh "lala", and had yours truly feeling some type of way (hope she remembered my name - LOL!): 5+++++ Stars. Regarding the ambiance, its much better here vs the local breweries like Dudes and Smog City. There are communal tables, a bar and tables of 2 & 4 for diners who want more privacy. Additionally, having a kitchen that makes good food is a big plus: 4 Stars. The awesome service from Lala trumps the miscues from the kitchen and the bar.
