Came here for LNY and the seating is good had a banquet circle style dinner. The food here is extremely mid however. I felt like every dish we ordered lacked flavor or was just cooked wrong. Like why were our fried dumplings LITERALLY DEEP FRIED. Most other things lacked flavor. The only dish that was good was pork w mustard greens. Duck was not bad but it wasn't good.

4 Stars - Good We went here on our trip in NYC (8/28). Overall, we had a good experience. The food was good, not the best, but I am pretty picky with Chinese food. One thing that stood out was that the food was especially hot. The restaurant was clean. The staff were nice and attentive to our needs. It was busy on the night that we went, so they are doing something right!

Enjoyed my Lunch Special Shrimp w/cashews. June 2025. Came w/Soup. didn't care for the "vegetable soup".

I'll do another review after I come back to have the lobster . IMPORTANT: NO CREDIT CARDS. CASH ONLY. CASH ONLY. There are some nearby banks. Walk around the corner to get cash!! Today-June 25, 2025 Enjoyed my Lunch Special Shrimp w/cashews. June 2025. Came w/Soup. I didn't care for the "vegetable soup", b/c it tasted like the water used to boil bok choy. I'd pass on that. But I will come back to try lobster . Today was 96 degrees, and in HOT WEATHER, my appetite is less. I really wanted to enjoy the lobster today, because the photos look great. I am looking forward to returning to try the yummy looking lobster dishes--I have only seen the photos and they look very good. So, I must come back. REMEMBER-CASH ONLY !! NO CREDIT CARDS.

Food was excellent tonight, a far cry from my last review a few years ago. I do takeout here a lot and food is very good as well.

Luncheon menu prices recently went up to $10. Dishes are still the same; very tasty. Portions are still smaller than the past years. Thought the lunches would be bigger with the price increase. There are other restaurants with better lunches but I will still be coming for my favorites.

Thursday, February 19,2026 11ish party of 2. Warmly greeted for The Chinese New Year and sat immediately with hot tea and soup brought to the table. Saltfish steamed pork patty...smelt good but, it was her order. Snowpea tips sauteed in fresh garlic. Definitely made well because the flavor is enhanced by the Wok Hei. Buddha's delight over crispy pan fried noodles.. a delicious must have if doing vegetarian during Chinese New year. Complimentary oranges at end of meal The staff, service, and food is always amazing.

Solid Chinese food and definitely hits the spot when craving some authentic Cantonese cuisine. I've been to Hop Lee once to dine in for a banquet style meal and also got some takeout entrees on another occasion and the food here is pretty much on par with the average Cantonese-style restaurants around - probably even a bit better. I've had a chance to try dishes like their Fish Filet with Tofu, Yi Mein (Longevity Noodles) with Mushrooms, Beef Cubes with String Beans, Sauteed Lobster with Ginger and Fried Oysters and I can't really say a bad thing about any of it. All of it was truly good and the way they SHOULD taste based on my experiences eating them from other restaurants. The food was fresh, flavorful and delicious. With this said, I will say that the Beef Cubes with String Beans REALLLLLY stood out though because the beef was soooooo tender. It was some of the most tender beef cubes I've ever had in my life, so major kudos to the chef in the back who worked his magic on that. On the occasion that I dined in, the food came out quite fast and furious, but, once again, everything was super fresh and on the spot. No complaints at all. On a block dominated by Wo Hop and Ping's, it's hard to really compete against those powerhouses, BUT, if you can't find a seat at either of those other restaurants, Hop Lee is no slouch.

Great food and service! All the waiters are fluent in English plus plenty of pictures on the wall for you to order from. Great spot for tourist and ABC to experience Cantonese food without the drama.

My mother and I decided to have Christmas lunch at Hop Lee. The restaurant has been a family favorite for a while, and once again, it did not disappoint. The wait staff is always attentive and is always making sure that everything is ok. During our lunch we ordered the Shrimp with Walnut, the Sin Koo Steak Kew, and the Ginger Scallion Chicken. The dishes were very tasty and we left very satisfied. So, if you are ever looking for a restaurant to check out in Chinatown. Please give Hop Lee a chance.

5 stars for service, 5 stars for food. There's no better lunch special in the area! For 7.50, you can get a entre pretty much the size of a dinner entre with rice AND soup. The soup is a very hearty bone broth served first. I ordered the salt and pepper pork chops and my partner ordered general tso's chicken. Everything was well cooked and seasoned and we had enough to even take home.

We tried the duck... it was beyond our expectations! Service was fast and although we didn't have to wait for a table, when we left, we noticed a long line had formed.

Came here for my mom's birthday lunch. We ordered a ton of dishes off their menu but the standouts were definitely the peking duck and their seafood. I especially enjoyed the clams in black bean sauce - balanced flavors and not too salty unlike other spots. Service was on point as well. They were quick and pleasant. Will definitely be back.

The lobster is a little chewy, but the spicy claws were very flavorful. All of the crab had so much meat and the seasonings were all amazing. The waiter did say to just check mark the paper instead of quantities, but they end up bringing you 2 of everything you order. The sweet & spicy fish is also very solid, garlic noodles were buttery, and even their iced tea was super refreshing. Could not recommend this place more!! This is exactly the kind of place that works well when you need something fast but still high quality. Service stood out. Jeanine was excellent; she quickly understood our time constraint, guided us to the right dishes, and kept everything moving without making it feel rushed. At one point we accidentally put a plastic menu over a lit candle, and she handled it immediately and made the moment feel light rather than awkward. The atmosphere was lively and full; the place was packed, but it still felt organized rather than chaotic. The bar looked well stocked, and the overall ambience worked well for a pre-train, Times Square-adjacent stop. Food was solid, with a few standouts. The salmon tartare with sesame crackers was excellent; clean, fresh, and well balanced. Jeanine recommended the shrimp avocado sliders, and that was the right call; they were outstanding. Happy hour oysters were fresh and well balanced. Littleneck clams were good, though slightly less compelling than the oysters. The fish tacos were good but not particularly memorable. Fried calamari was well executed, though the accompanying sauce could have used a little more flavor. The hot sauce, assuming it is made in house, was excellent and added a much better punch to the seafood. Drinks from the happy hour menu, including the Pink Flamingo and margarita, were good and consistent. I would come back to try more from the main menu. If you like seafood, this is a strong option for the price point and location, especially during happy hour.

From the moment I entered the restaurant, I knew the experience was going to be next level. Thank you Jay for seating me and my friend at the best table in the house. The way they were prepared is the only way I want to taste them. The next dishes they brought out were fried shrimp, sizzling shrimp scampi. Soft shell crab was cooked to perfection. My garlic butter Nova Scotia Lobster was divine. Cooked, and served to perfection! Next the sizzling sea bass was brought to the table! O-M-G! Within a second after arriving to our table still sizzling. Jose came to personally debone the fish (never had that done before) and he added the Thai chili sauce. At this point, my body was in a foodie coma! After a brief clean up of our table. I left our dining room, and went to the ladies room.
