Hop Hing has been around for years. I probably ordered take-outs from here over 100 times. While nothing is fancy or dazzling, it has been solid and decent. Whenever I don't feel like cooking and don't like breaking my bank either, I pick up the phone and order takeout from Hop Hing. My food is usually ready in 10-15 min. I have not tried their delivery services so no comments here. There are a few tables and chairs for diners now and menu has expanded to include some Thai and Japanese dishes, but this place is mostly known for reliable Chinese take outs. Very good food for standard American Chinese takeout (though they do have some traditional dishes like rice cakes and pickled cabbage pork soup). They bring ingredients fresh from New York everyday ( I know this because I've seen them have it delivered). They are usually very busy on weekends. It is a family owned restaurant. The boneless spareribs, spider roll, shrimp tempura roll, and chicken broccoli are all of my favorites. I ordered the lunch special - Thai Green Curry, and it was the most creative dish I have had for a long time. The green curry was an artificial neon green color, complete with cut french fried potatoes mixed in with the vegetables. Truly unreal! Based on today's experience, I certainly would not recommend this place. At very least, avoid their Thai food. This dish was truly awful. read more

My go to Chinese place. They're steamed chicken and broccoli is on point. The food is very good,& I'd give it at least 4 stars for Take Out. But if you use their 'FREE' delivery-watch out! One of the delivery guys,short & chunky,has made a scene at my home more than once! He actually told me he wasn't leaving because he wasn't satisfied with the tip! I kid you not.If he deserved more than a 15% tip I would have gladly given it. After all,a tip is a gratuity given for good service,which I did not get. I was harassed & yelled at! I was so upset I gave him another dollar just to get him to leave,I'm embarrassed to say. We came here for take out because of the positive reviews. Unfortunately the rice was soft and a terrible texture. The fried rice looked like yellow Spanish rice and it had frozen peas and carrots and raw and onion in it. It was completely without flavor. The egg rolls tasted like they were fried in old oil. The chicken with broccoli was edible and not nearly as bad as the other things we ordered. I was very disappointed with this place and we will not be returning. read more

This is the best Chinese food you will find in New Jersey. They have hands down the best general tso chicken ever and I've had a lot of general tso in my life. Their bone and boneless BBQ are to die for. Usually at other chinese restaurants I find the BBQ spare ribs super dry and bland, but not at Hop Hing. They also have free delivery which is always a plus. My other personal favorite dishes include shrimp with lobster sauce, eggplant with garlic sauce, and singapore mei fun. I found this place on Yelp and thought it was a good choice due to the great and consistent reveiws. We ordered alot of food which was delivered reasonable quick to our house. Our order included a specialty item with specific requests which was done to the T and was absolutely delicious. The boneless spare ribs were really lean and had almost no fat on them, and were gorgeously done not to burned but just enough for flavor. The lomein was great it had big chunks of broccoli, snow peas etc, not the cheapo frozen chopped vegetables.We ordered online which was really easy and convenient. Witness the decline of what was a very good Chinese Restaurant. The last several times we have ordered from this restaurant the food has been consistently poor. If you enjoy Butterfly Shrimp with all fat and raw bacon and General Tso Chicken with tiny pieces with abundance of breading then you will enjoy this restaurant. Typical Chinese take out fair, but they set themselves apart with having an expanded menu that covers multiple cuisines. Moving to a bigger lot allows for comfortable sit down seating. My father's go to dish here is always a large chicken soup with extra rice any day he's feeling the need for a warm and happy belly. We order from here quite a bit to the office and they've never complained about having to deliver. Very friendly service, and high quality food. The Thai specials are a favorite as are the cheap lunch specials. Highly recommended. My sister and I ordered delivery service last night. Normally they took half an hour to deliver but last night was intolerable. We ordered around 6:30 and at 7:00 I became skeptical. When I called at 7:05 I called and they said it would take 5 Minutes. It was now 7:15 and no Chinese food. I called again and they said that it would be there in 2 minutes. My sister and I then waited 30 minutes for the food to get here. In total they took 1 hour and 15 minutes for them to deliver food to my house which is 5 minutes away. When we got our food it was colder than usual and we weren't even given any notice. They should have a delivery service where if the food doesn't come to you within an hour it should be free. I am now looking for a new Chinese restaurant, if anyone has suggestions please tell me ASAP! read more

Terrible customer service. I've been a customer of this place for YEARS. My family and I have ordered from them at least 3 times per week for years. We never complain. The food is usually good, but today I ordered a combination of boneless spare ribs and pork fried rice. The rice was bland and had absolutely no taste. It didn't look or taste fresh. When I called the restaurant to let them know that the rice didn't taste good, the man that answered the phone got very defensive and said "we've sold a lot of that rice today." I was shocked and appalled that he would respond in this way. Instead of offering to replace the rice, and make it right, he held his ground that the rice was fine. I asked him if he had tried the rice himself, because it definitely did not taste the way it always does. I even mentioned that I had been a loyal customer for years and that I had never complained, but he maintained that there was nothing for him to say or do since other people had eaten that rice. Since he does not care about customer service or feedback from one of his loyal customers, I informed him that I would leave a review and that he has lost my business. It's a shame when restaurants forget they are here to serve the public. read more

I do takeout from here about once a month. Food tends to be very oily (especially compared to East next door) but quite tasty. The food is also quite cheap, considering it's in a pretty affluent area and the portion sizes are large. I am a fan of the chicken with broccoli and egg foo young. I generally don't do a lot of reviews, only when really good or really BAD, and this place is not good! This management is terrible! Ordered once before and it was fine, nothing special. Tried to order delivery tonight, waited over an hour, they said they couldn't find it, then said it will be there now. 20 minutes later called back and got hung up on. Called back repeatedly, finally they answer and say it was all a misunderstanding...really? How so? When we complained about their terrible service young lady on the phone said I was disrespectful. I get the fact that these take out places are quite busy, and these things happen, in fact it's happened to me before. Best part of the story, they call me back 20 minutes later to tell me that the order I placed over an hour ago needs to be picked up!
