We have been ordering from Royal Wok for many years. The food has always been good. We ordered last night and the food was horrible. We ordered mu shu chicken, pork fried rice, and house lo mein. There was very little meat in the lo main, but more importantly it had no taste except for the gummy taste of the noodles. Pork fried rice and mu shu were the same, no taste at all. We did order the bone in spare ribs that were good but the rest of the meal was horrible. I see on the menu the name has changed to the New Royal Wok. I have been looking for a Chinese restaurant and finally found this place. Glad I did because now this is my go-to Chinese take out place. Highly recommend - they have parking and inside sitting as well. Ordered the veggie lo mein, boneless square rib, beef and broccoli and some wonton soup. The soup was great, had (4 - 6) wontons in it. Beef and broccoli was one of the best I've had. The lo mein was ok, but I did order a plain one so that could be the reason. Food is not taste the same as before. Lack of favor. General Tao shrimps - shrimps definitely not fresh, and coated with thick flour, soggy and blended. Shrimps with garlic sauce- blend and not spicy as it described on menu. read more

I like the Royal walk. The new owners have improved the cleanliness of the place. Now all I have to do is get rid of that fish tank that the fish look like they rotting away an old water. And the shower curtain. I have to say the food is cheap and it's very good And the children that work there two sons are very nice. Everyone ordered thru door dash, from multiple different locations, because nobody really wanted the same thing. I decided on chinese, from a local spot that i havent tried yet. Came up on royal wok, i ordered 15 mins after everyone else, and my food got here first. Customer service was excellent, no hassle, food was on point, and prob the best fried dumplings ive had on this side of union county. Quick and efficient, food was piping hot, and reasonably priced. Good experience. Chicken from my chkn and broccoli combo platter wasnt the best, but everything altogether was solid. read more

I ordered the scalloped and jumbo shrimp with vegetables and what I received were two pieces of shrimp and two pieces of scallop. My family has been ordering from royal wok since I'm a kid, literally for the last 20 years. And I'm officially done with them. For the last year, it's been problem after problem every time I want Chinese food. From hair in the food, to undercooked meat, it's always something. For some reason, all within the last year things started to go down hill. They can never follow simple directions, like to make something well done. About 7 months ago, we ordered boneless spare ribs and chicken and broccoli and my boyfriend got food poisoning after eating the ribs. I asked to return the rest of the food and be refunded given our long standing relationship with Judy. she declined, only offering to make a new order after giving me a very hard time and denying that the bad food came from her restaurant. Why would we want more Chinese food when my bf was violently ill and throwing up? That really should have been the last straw but for some reason we continued to order from them and just avoided the ribs. However, Judy never acted the same towards us and is extremely impolite over the phone, saying things like "what do YOU want" when we would call to order. Tonight, she nearly screamed at me on the phone saying she was too busy for my "special order," then agreed to make it, but then delivered the wrong meal. To top it off, she yelled at me again and gave me a hard time when I didn't want what she sent me. I should have been done with royal wok a long time ago, but kept going back...why? Royal Wok was the first restaurant that my roommate and I went to when we moved to Springfield a little over 2 years ago and we still order from them at least 1 or 2 times per week! The longevity of Royal Wok can only be understood in one-dimensional terms; it's cheap. I'm not saying, "gee, how can food of this quality be so inexpensive," the food is bad. Tired Sino-American adaptations of familiar dishes with an overabundance of grease, salt and cornstarch doesn't (in 2011) constitute a bargain at anything but a give-away price. read more

This place is terrible. They messed up my order by forgetting something and refused to complete my order within an hour (I had it delivered in town) or issue a refund. Even worst I immediately got extremely sick after eating some sesame chicken. When I called them to complain the person on the phone did not seem to care either way. Excellent food at a great price, don't take that one snob's word for it. It's great food served by a family that has been running this place for more than 20 years and I have been going back that entire time.
