We have been here a few times over the years and it's what you would think of when going to Hooters. Wings were OK. Nothing to make a big deal about. Mixed drinks are expensive and extremely weak. Beer specials are decent. Place can be busy at times so you may have to wait. Best part is that you are right on the water. (Pass) So the view is pretty cool. The rest is so so. Love this location! It was a quiet, early afternoon so we were sat and quickly greeted by our server. We ordered 20 wings, 10 hot and 10 chipotle garlic and an order of curly fries. I'm very simple to please, all you need is some good Chicken Breast Strips but guess this location isn't known for that, probably one of the most undercooked and worst breaded chicken strips i've had to date. My family stopped to eat here on our way to Disney World. Ok, can I just say Wow! You are seated right on a big ol balcony overlooking the Ocean. I could smell the refreshing ocean and subtle salt in the air. As we were glancing over the deck into the ocean I saw a whale jumping out of the water. Also dolphins too! Amazing! People- I am from Chicago we just don't see these things in the wild. Beautiful! I will never forget it. Oh yeah, food was good too. Tastes exactly the same as in Chicago. read more

Hooter's is...well, Hooter's. But importantly, this one here at Johns Pass is pretty unique and earns it 4 stars. First, its located right at the inlet, about thirty feet above the water. That offers a really view if the passing boat traffic, seagulls and pelicans. Second, a bulk of the restaurant is patio (covered) allowing unfettered view if the water. Didn't go for for the food items, but here for the view and a couple beers. A few platters of oysters were served nearby that looked good. Better options for those elsewhere, but a good choice here given the location and the view. Sit at the bar, sip a few and enjoy. read more

1st...notice any good reviews were over a year ago....sort the reviews by date...then you will know why the following review is spot on. Sent my friends from Germany to this location, even though I no longer frequent this location, as they wanted wings and to experience a Hooters, the world wide chain. I personally have had less than good experiences at this location in the past. As expected, sadly, they had an absolutely awful experience. Weren't greeted, took forever to get a menu, and the food was sub-par. The restaurant was not busy at all. The ladies room was described by my friend as "the filthiest she has seen in America,"....I am ashamed for allowing them to even go to Hooters..... As a local resident, and a Yelp Elite, I will never, EVER go to this Hooters again, and will tell others to avoid this location (and the location at Tyrone Mall) at all cost. This pisses me off, since I really used to like to go to Hooters in general. What a waste of a great chain....what the hell happened to the original Hooters Seven....they should be ashamed too. UPDATE! So, both times I have written a review about Hooters--- both Tyrone Location and Johns Pass location the manager has left a note on Yelp stating she will be in contact....yet no additional contact occurs. The absolute WORST Hooter's I've ever been to!!! The WORST service; starting with the ladies at the hostess stand! We were a party of six with 2 toddlers & the hostess told us that they only had one 'high' high-chair available (apparently the others were being used). Come to find out from a "manager" (only after asking her if they actually had more because we didn't see any other tables using high-chairs) that they only had the one. The only tables to accommodate a party our size were the high tables yet they only had one 'high' high-chair...that's crazy. This is a tourist location, where people vacation with their children so why in the world would you only have ONE 'high' high-chair at this location? With most Hooter's I've been to you're welcomed with a smile & friendly faces. Not this one...so if you want to continue to have a fun time on the boardwalk try another restaurant. At least maybe you'll feel like they want you business. read more

We enjoyed an absolutely fantastic meal last night at Hooters John's Pass during a visit from NYC. The service was perfect -- attentive, friendly, and helpful -- and the food was very tasty. It was my first time trying Hooters' wings, and now I know what all the fuss is about! The place was hopping and festive, and had a nice mix of families and singles -- though it was busy, the service was prompt and efficient. Next time I plan to try the great looking outdoor seating with a view of the water, and will leave room for Key Lime Pie. :) read more

Maderia Beach Johns Pass..........I ordered Korean BBQ wings thru ubereats. They sent me 10 dried up fried wings. When I called and got the manager, he said they don't have Korean BBQ sauce and they decided to send me something else !! I told him its on your menu. He told me its not . Absolutely love the Madeira Beach location. It is on the water with beautiful views and excellent sports coverage with their many, many televisions and a fun place to be. The management and staff are very friendly and attentive. I especially like bartender Annelise, who is witty, beautiful and fun to hang out with. I know it is funny to review a chain restaurant, but it is in a popular tourist area. Also, sometimes when you are out and about, you think, "oh let's go to this chain restaurant because we know what to expect." The reason we ended up at this Hooters is that my husband loves Hooters wings, and we had just gone for a little ride out to the beach/Johns Pass and decided to get something to eat. It was the day after Thanksgiving and a lot of people were sitting at the bar, including us. There was only one bartender, who was in the weeds the entire time.It took ten minutes to even greet anyone new who sat down. I am not blaming her, I am blaming management as they should have two people scheduled for a bar that big on a busy Friday. Also, a manager came out, and didn't help her. We thought he should have at least bussed for her and or had someone else bussing for her and pitching in. I ordered the naked Daytona style jerk wings. They were fried beyond belief, not finished on the grill (which is what their Daytona style is) and the "rub" was just some seasoning dumped on them after they were cooked. Probably some of the worst wings ever. Also, I ordered an 8 piece all drums and it came out 10 piece mixed. The order ticket was correct, so the kitchen messed it up. I did not send it back because I didn't want to wait, and quiet frankly I am always concerned about sending food back and getting something nasty done to it (I have seen "Waiting"). I ate five and explained what was wrong then asked the bartender if she could just charge me for the five, but she took the whole order off our bill, which was nice. My recommendation is that if you are out at Johns Pass, and want to get a quick drink and a bite to eat, go to one of the other places on the boardwalk or down the street. read more

I don't know how this place has so many negative reviews. I've been there several times and was never disappointed. Let's start with the amazing view of the water. I always sit outside and enjoy looking for dolphins. The girls (servers/bartenders) have always been friendly and efficient. The food is great! My hubby and I always order their shrimp with sweet chili sauce and some hot wings. A pitcher of cold beer quenches our thirst. Have accidentally gone there on "Football Sundays." Each of their many tv's is broadcasting a game. It's a bit loud (main reason why we try to avoid sport bars on those days). The fans seem to have a blast and it's always been friendly and people kept it classy. Outside tvs do have a lot of glare, but there are plenty inside for those who really want to watch. The food was good, but the service was horrible. We had a girl with long blonde hair, that kept forgetting everything. She didn't bring utensils until I was almost done feeding my 2 year old. She never came by to check up on us and it took forever to get the check. At this point you probably think that the place was full...it was't. It was empty. There was a few tables occupied and the bar was full. There were enough waitresses around to service everybody on a timely fashion. Well, I'm trying to find something positive to say other than the location is great and our waitress was great, because she was. The food was awful. Like, beyond awful. We were over at Johns Pass for the afternoon to do something outside on a cold (for Floridians) day. I wanted to see some dolphins so we decided to come over and be tourists for a day. We were hungry and since we haven't really eaten at many places at Johns Pass outside of the Friendly Fisherman (we brought them our own catch and they cooked it for us), we decided we would hit up Hooters. I got boneless wings and he ordered regular. These were the smallest boneless wings I've ever seen. I'm trying to think of something to compare them to in size....a little bigger than a quarter maybe? I should have taken a picture as proof. We've been to places before that passed a chicken nugget off as a boneless wing, and these were worse than that. Both of our orders were also an actual, physical representation of an oxymoron because they were watery and dry at the same time- go figure. We didn't even finish them and paid $30 for crappily frozen food. We were just saying we feel a little cheated out of our money. I'd never been to a Hooters before, but I'd always heard they had decent wings. Can't say I see what the hype is about....don't think I'll be going back ever. Went there with a couple friends of mine. The seating didn't take to long. We sat down and waited at least 25 / 30 minutes for our server to take our order. When she did she was being rude. I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich and it was undercooked and the fries were not even cooked all the way. Some were soggy and some were cooked. read more

I NEVER thought I'd four star a Hooters but you really have to give it to this place for making an awesome seaside bar. The view, the atmosphere, the breeze, the not too hot feel... it's all perfect. Beer was cold, friends were good, strangers were nice, and staff was on point. On a foodie note, don't expect anything elevated. The service had so much wrong with it, it was comical. It's wasn't too busy for a Thursday night, couple tables inside, couple out. To jump right into how bad the service was, I ordered the crab, and wasn't brought any side plates for the shells. I left all my shells on a napkin in the middle of the table and said something while the server watched and she didn't respond. She then proceeded to bring the table next to us side plates before their food came out so obviously it's protocol. It wasn't a big deal but it's common sense to bring out side plates for crab. The server then spilled my mother's drink all over her and then walked away and proceeded to leave the ice on our table. We sat with ice cubes all over the table. She finally came back and scooped the ice cubes into her hand (why not grab a towel??) and didn't come back to wipe the table. Then as the meal was almost over, I had asked for a side of butter and she forgot(which I'm a server I understand forgetting) but she only had us and the table behind, she stood in the corner talking with the rest of the girls. It got to the point where she had walked by to the other table several times and never stopped to do a table touch again that I had to yell at her as she walked by. I'm usually REALLY lenient when it comes to judging servers but my god, I walked out thinking the place was a joke. If I Could give this place a ZERO I would! I first discovered Hooters while on Spring Break over 20 years ago and had my first order of wings and all time favorite Buffalo Shrimp. Last night we wondered into this Hooters and sat at the bar. The restaurant was not busy and fairly vacant, now I know why. We were helped by the very kind and attentive Bridget who served me the coldest beer I have had in some time, in a frosted glass the way it should be served. I ordered Buffalo Shrimp (medium), curly fries, and celery and blue cheese. My freind ordered wings, a salad, and curly fries. The food took a good amount of time considering there were very few people at this establishment. The food finally arrived and much to our dismay was VERY disappointing. The curly fries were sent back because they were COLD....how do you send out cold fries? My freind enjoyed his wings but they were quite small, not a great value. My Buffalo Shrimp, the ones that I always considered the best of the best were awful. I don't know how they could change an award winning recipe, but they did. First and foremost the shrimp were small and appeared to be nothing more than fried shrimp cooked in some sort of flavored oil. The shrimp were crunch but dry, there was no sauce as I have come to know and expect from this offering. The disgusting part was the amount oil that was sitting at the bottom of my dish. There was so much that I could pour it out and it would easily fill a couple of shot glasses...I wish I had taken a picture. I notified Bridget of my concern and she immediately agreed and said she would take it off the bill and asked me if I wanted to order something else. By this time I was so disappointed and grossed out that I lost my appetite. The cold beer, celery, and fries were enough for me. After I paid my bill I went to the restroom to wash my hands, all I can say is disgusting. I might expect these conditions to exist at a dive bar, but not a nationally recognized establishment. The floors were wet and sticky! All around the urinals were wet and it appeared to have not been cleaned in some time. I will NOT be coming back here EVER! Do you like poor service and pigeon wings? This the place for you! We've been coming here for years and the service is getting worse, compared to our (Clearwater) location. We met friends from out of town here, there was a table of 8, they struggled to get the food out to all 8 of us, instead the food came in shifts of 4 and 4 orders with 5 minutes between. My 10 wings(pigeon sized) were cold, they had to remake them which took another 15 minutes. They kinda forgot about sides until reminded. Not worth the 18% gratuity added for a table of 8. If you have been to Hooters before, you know what to expect. Great wings, beer, and attractive women. This one is more or less the same, though it is right on the water at John's Pass. Was there on a busy Saturday and can say that the food and beer were as expected, but the service was horrible. After fighting for attention to order, we got our beers... wings came 15 min later. Attempted to order a second beer, but fighting to order is annoying. There are lots of great wing houses in the area, and many places in John'sPass with great food, so unless you are dead set on seeing Hooters, you may want to hot another place on busy nights. read more

A large group of us went to Hooters on Saturday evening and had a wonderful experience. We went again on a slow Tuesday night, and had a horrid experience. Ashley, our waitress brought the wrong food, no food and then tried to overcharge us for items. There was no apology and no proactive visit from a manager. We finally called a manager over who offered a cursory apology and adjusted our bill - which was wrong to begin with. After leaving a small and undeserved tip, Ashley referred to me by a very derogatory name, and made sure that I heard the comment. The wings are always good, even if they are a little small. Apparently they recently switched to naturally fed chicken, and the size difference is noticeable, but they are cooked just right! Always juicy and tender. Skip the fries and get the tots. They are always spot on! Try the wings Daytona style. They fry them naked and then bake them, and they're great! If you like yours hot, get the 3-mile island sauce or hotter. If you can't stand the heat, the Daytona or chipotle sauces are just as good, but without the pain. Service can be hit or miss at the tables, but it is always great at the bar, inside or out. Great view, and when the weather is nice there's no better place on Mad Beach. read more
