Thanks to GOOGLE I'm obsessed with Hoosier Heights! A friend and I had planned on a hike, neither of checked the weather... hello RAIN! Ha! Quick Google search "things to do on a rainy day" and Hoosier Heights popped up! We were like "heck yea, let's do it!" First time indoor rock climbing and I REALLY enjoyed it! Watched a brief, yet detailed safety video, geared up, was given a quick walk around the facility and we were off clipping in and climbing walls!! GREAT experience, I'll definitely be back faking it until I fall!! Haha! Soo much FUN!

Been climbing here for a few years. There is a good combination of bouldering routes, top rope routes, and lead routes available. You can sign up to get lead certified if you find an available weekend. They recently changed their grading system to a + / - system: 5.10- = 5.10a/b 5.10 = 5.10b/c 5.10+ = 5.10c/d They recently added a rowing machine but do not have a very robust workout section. The dojo area is available for members.

Beginners have fun too!

I took my 11 year old and her friend here on a whim. She's always loved rock climbing at the kid places (adrenaline, sky zone, etc) so I thought she'd love a step up to something more official. We paid $28 for both of them, super affordable. I was surprised how hands-off this place is. We watched an orientation video explaining how to put on the harnesses, how to belay, etc. and then off they went! We went midday on a weekday and there were several other people, but the place is so big they had tons of space to climb wherever they wanted. Lots of bouldering/free climb structures and several auto-belay areas to choose from. There's a wall for beginners or little kids, and there were several toddler/preschool aged kids there having fun! The place was clean, the staff was friendly and knowledgeable, and the bathrooms were well maintained. My girls had a blast and we can't wait to go back!

This was such a great outing! We went on a Friday, which was 2 passes for $20 -- such a great deal, since that includes all your equipment as well! It's a much larger facility with a lot more variety than other rock climbing gyms I've tried out. You begin with an introduction video -- I've been to gyms where the orientation is in person, and I think that is a better option in case you have questions. I also found their routes to be challenging, in a good way! You can try out both rock climbing and bouldering and they have walls of varying heights. We brought my cousin, who has mental and physical disabilities, and she enjoyed it so much! We love finding activities that she can enjoy just as well! Definitely a great options for those who are differently abled :) The employees were very kind and friendly with all of us.

Don't come here during the winter! There is no heater, and you'll be expected to climb in your jackets.

We had so much fun today! Everything was very clean and well ran. Employees were awesome! We were especially impressed with Mitch who was working in the "Dojo" Ninja course area. He was super knowledgeable and fun... My 8 year old absolutely loved him! Thanks for such a great day. We will be back. :)

A wall that helps you learn how to climb outdoors (hook yourself as you go)- just one of the many options

I would go here every week if I could. I have considered getting a yearly pass multiple times but just don't think I have enough time to get there as much as I want to! The atmosphere is so casual and fun and it is the perfect stress reliever. The music is energetic and there are always a lot of people (at all different talent levels) climbing. The people here are just really cool. You will meet some really unique people if you come here often enough. There are also always crazy talented people that are fun to watch when you get tired of climbing yourself. This is a great place to bring friends, a date, a date, or people new to town!

A view of part of the gym from the 2nd story workout area. Can't see everything though.

I love Hoosier Heights. Not as much as my home climbing gym but then again, it's hard to match the gym where you first learned to climb. Facilities// - huge! and still pretty new looking - walls for top roping (+ auto-belaying), lead climbing, and bouldering - huge wall (the 'snake') that goes over a foam pit - pretty big workout area with different machines (2 treadmills, 2 ellipticals, and 2 bikes) & equipment, an overhang wall to train on, and a campus board - not enough cubbies (some lockers available but it's first come, first serve. some people have probably had their lockers for awhile) - lounge area, yoga room, room for hosting parties - bathrooms are kinda crappy, especially compared to how nice the rest of the gym is Routes// - many different routes to choose from - one route may stay up about a month (employee said they change at least 1 area a few times a week) - labeled by colored tape but they were testing out routes that coded by the holds. not sure what happened to that - holds much rougher on my hands than gym I used to go to - bouldering uses V-Scale grading system (V0 and up), excluding the snake - top roping uses the Decimal Scale grading system (5.0 and up) Prices// $20 day pass for first timers, includes intro class and equipment $15 full day pass w/ equipment $10 just bouldering $74 prepaid monthly membership includes all equipment, aside from shoes Cons - the address listed doesn't take you to the correct location (used both iPhone & my car's built-in GPS). It's actually on the other end of Mayflower Park Dr. - short hours. It never opens before 11am - there aren't really any walls to top out on. Technically you can top out on the wall beneath the workout area but that's pretty much it. - no slacklines

Entrance and check in area.

Supposedly, the room is kept at 90 degrees, and I could feel all 90 degrees. I'm not used to practicing hot yoga, and I don't think it will be a daily part of my practice, but it's nice to know that The Yoga Studio offers such a nice space for hot yoga when the mood strikes me. The instructor, Rick, was great. It was my first time visiting, so we chatted outside of the yoga room about what to expect: In his class, he starts with a led Sun Salutation A, then lets you go on your own, then a led Sun Salutation B, then lets you go on your own. The second half of the class is a fully led practice, with lots of variety. The room is small, but apparently they can fit 25 people in it! My class only had 12, so there was plenty of room. The room itself is clean and dark, with a couple of salt lamps around. It's a quiet, contemplative space to practice. There are showers here, too, as well as a room for cycling. The people who work here are very welcoming! Like I said, it was my first time visiting, and I got nothing but love from everyone. The Yoga Studio is a great place to practice yoga, and I'll definitely be back.

I've tried this place twice now and found both experiences lacking. The most recent time I went…read morethe music was super loud and the instructor was very quiet, which made it super easy to get lost. Additionally there were several poses called out with different names than what I've encountered with other instructors at several different studios or while doing yoga at home with Apple Fitness. Lastly, we went through a flow once or twice and then the instructor pretty much said keep doing it on your own without any further instructions for a few minutes. I felt bad for the two new students next to me who kept looking over to me to check their form. If you enjoy a hot space and freedom to do whatever flow you'd like, then this place might be good for you, but I was not a fan.

I'm still vibrating from my class. I attended Baptiste Power Yoga (now called Fire & Flow Yoga --…read morethey recently changed their name!) on an auspicious day: International Day of Yoga, which also happens to be summer solstice. On this very special day, they were offering a two-hour class where we would be doing 108 sun salutations. I didn't know if I could do that many sun salutations in a row. I was a little bit anxious because I not only didn't know if I could do 108 sun salutations without injuring myself or fainting, but also, I had never been to Fire & Flow, so I didn't know the studio or anyone there. But yoga people are my people, so I went with it and trusted the universe. When I arrived, I was treated like a regular, and everyone was super friendly. I got a little tour of the studio and got to check out the amenities. It's a small but very clean and functional studio, and they offer coffee and tea complimentary, and juice and other drinks to purchase. There are water stations to fill up your water bottle, restrooms, cubbies and a community kitchen where you can hang out. Because this was a long and special class, there were a few different instructors leading, and each brought a different energy to the group. They played uplifting music during the sun salutations, which helped keep up the momentum. At the end of the class, we were brought cold towels that smelled like lavender to put over our eyes while we meditated, and it was honestly the best thing I've experienced all week. I loved my first class at Fire & Flow, and I want to come back to experience a more "regular" yoga class! This place is so welcoming and warm, and I can't wait to visit again.

After scanning the website, I decided to check it out the next day, since the first class is free. After one class, I signed up for a membership ($39/month) and I've been to at least 2 classes a week since joining, if not 4-5 - which is unheard of for me. I like it THAT much. Revel's studio is within Primelife Enrichment in Carmel, but the clients are all ages. From my first class (Zumba with Erin) I felt welcomed and accepted. Each instructor has noticed I'm "the new kid" and gone out of their way to introduce themselves and welcome me to class. Revel is full of regulars but everyone has been friendly and many have asked my name and welcomed me to Revel. This is a community that I don't think I'd find at a larger studio or gym. Going to the gym in general has always made me feel uncomfortable, but here I can dance without worrying about how I look. I can just focus on having fun. This place checks off all the things on my list. It's close to where I live, affordable, welcoming and offers a variety of classes (Zumba, Pound, TurboKick, LaBlast). I actually look forward to my workouts and can't wait to continue my fitness journey with Revel!

I purchased a two-week unlimited intro pass and had a sudden family emergency the same day as my first class that required me to leave the country. I returned 13 days later, meaning there was only one day left on my two-week pass. I explained this to the front desk and asked if there was any way to extend or honor the original trial period, since I wasn't able to use it due to circumstances completely out of my control. I was only offered options that would require me to make an additional payment, and when I followed up explaining my disappointment and asking if there was any flexibility, I never received a response. Overall, the lack of communication and empathy overshadowed the experience.
