Our child has been with the Hoopright team for three years now. The coaches at Hoopright provide comprehensive basketball training -- whether it's technical skills or team-oriented guidance, they cover it all. It's not just about training; they also offer many opportunities to participate in basketball tournaments organized by different organizations. Additionally, once or twice each season, the team travels to places outside of the Bay Area for games. All of these experiences allow the kids to develop in all aspects of basketball. Moreover, the coaches, parents, and kids on the team get along very well -- it feels like one big family. One more thing to mention: our current coach George often provides extra training sessions to help the kids improve even more, all for the betterment of the team. My son started playing with HoopRight a few years ago. We had tried several of the other organizations in the South Bay and moved on to HoopRight as per recommendations from families we met along the way. We found what we'd been missing there. They have a broad comprehensive approach to Basketball, from technique to a strongly developed sense of Social Emotional support from the top down. My son has improved and benefited from the oversight of the coaching staff as he grows and matures mentally and physically. They have recognized his strengths and identified areas for improvement with their thoughtful engenderment. HIs little sister has joined the girl's 5th/6th team the last few seasons and enjoyed the same benefits to encourage her interest in developing her skills and sense of sportsmanship and belonging in the team setting. After that, my other daughter developed an interest in Volleyball. She has joined the sister organization for volleyball, SpikeRight. We have also been extremely satisfied with the same level of attention and concern for the needs of the individual in the team setting. With a reasonable amount of experience around what's available in our area, I can say that we are very happy to have landed at HoopRight and SpikeRight. Coach Aditya who teaches at Stratford Blackford is really unhelpful. I realize it was our mistake to not get the basketball for one class but making an exception and providing one goes a long way. This review is for this weekend's tournament championship game between the 4th grade HoopRight team and the Santa Barbara Blenders. The HoopRight team was flustered by some questionable calls, and the coach addressed the situation with a firm tone at half time (score was tied) to make the team understand that they should be getting back on defense instead of complaining and losing focus. The team came out of the 2nd half much more determined and followed the game plan, consequently won against a much taller team. Throughout the game, HoopRight coach consistently speaks with a firm tone and encourages the players when a great job is done, the same way during practice sessions. Regarding arguing with the referee, the HoopRight coach was merely asking the referee 2 or 3 times for clarification on the shooting foul call, was it due to blocking, holding or pushing so the players can learn and be aware next time. Unfortunately, the ref was only able to respond it was a "shooting" foul call which was still unclear. Each game is a great learning experience for the young ones, and I think all the coaches should treasure these precious moments to share their knowledge with the players regardless of the scoring differentials. At the end of the day, we all want our children to continue to be passionate about basketball and keep on Hoop Right! The 4th grade Hoop Right coach absolutely demonstrated the above! read more

We have found Hoopright a well-run, intentional organization. Character is developed, hard work is valued, and the kids are cared for as people, not just basketball players. I decided to try the Sunnyvale practice for my 8 y.o son. First of all the address they give is a church. I reached out via text and they reconfirmed the address is right. I reach there and there is no one. Couple of other parents were standing around confused. Turns out you have to drive around the block and go to an entrance at the back. This was something they could have clarified on their website. Once I got there I found there were a very large number of kids in the class. I counted 32!!! It was quite a sight to see so many kids running around at the same time. The instructors divided the class into 3 parts and gave a drill for each sub group and then were mostly standing around talking to each other. Very few kids got any feedback. My son was completely lost in the chaos and I left twenty mins early. read more

The coach, George, was a total creep. He treated my son like dirt and many other parents had the same complaints. He was very flirty with all the mothers despite the fact that we're all MARRIED. We have been nothing but impressed with the level of professionalism and skill that the entire Hoopright staff have demonstrated. Definitely a REAL basketball club, coaches are professionals. They live up to their club name, by teaching kids to play basketball the right way. I can see why it's perfect for kids: here, playing basketball is not all about winning, but the hows are much more important. I can see the coaches are not there in the gym just to be there, but they really are passionate and serious about teaching kids and correcting them. They teach kids, to me this is very important, how to share ball, when to take shots. We've seen in other clubs where one or two kids thrive and develop skills above everyone else, but you rarely see them playing real basketball. My kid enjoys to be with his team here at HoopRight because they share ball. Good things will happen when kids know how to share! Coach George is an excellent coach. My son loves getting trained by him. Just after two sessions, I could see the difference in my son's play. Will be scheduling sessions with my second son as well.
