FRESH CRAB!!!! Great fresh local crab that they harvested themselves. The best Dungeness crab in the world comes from this bay. Not fancy but run by a super cool couple. Try her Thai dipping sauce.

Stopped in Hoonah from the Royal Caribbean cruise. The ship and tripadvisor recommended this generic seafood restaurant to all the tourist. Instead we walked into town to ask the locals where the best crab was and they all recommended this newly opened crab shack. The Beach House is owned and operated by a couple. The husband is a fisherman and catches all the crabs you eat. The wife is the loveliest host and makes the best Thai Ice Tea. We each had a dungeoness crab. They were huge and the most delicious crab I've ever had! Ask for the Thai dipping sauce but even if you eat it without, it tasted like the ocean. Come to the Beach House which is only a short walk from downtown where the bus drops off. You won't regret it!

If you only have one meal in Alaska, this would be it. I live in Boston, frequently visit Asia, and have some great access to seafood. This crab was the best crab I've ever eaten. The meat was sweet, juicy, didn't stick to the shell, and just simply outstanding. My friends and I thought the natural flavor on the meat on its own was amazing. However, it is offered with melted butter and a spicy Thai sauce. The owners' story is remarkable. Srisa and her husband, Todd, met in university in Oregon. Her husband is the fisherman that first fishes for chum salmon to use as bait, and then goes crabbing in Port Frederick. They have only been open for ten days, but I have no doubt that this will be a successful venture for them. I love supporting local, and this is as authentic as it gets. Asian people, you already know this. For those brave enough: Ask for the crab head and eat everything. The best meat is in the head! Bonus: Srisa is from Thailand, extremely friendly, and makes the world's best Thai iced tea. I was so happy at how delicious it was. For cruise goers, purchase the $5 round trip shuttle (5minutes one way) and then walk 5 minutes to this restaurant.

I can get snow crab...shipped to the middle of of the US...all the middle men making theirs - and it's 12.99 lb (even $9.99 lb) on sale. A pure tourist trap rip off it seems. And everywhere does it (it) seems - because they can. I'd suggest you think twice in this one - as the seafood isn't that much over the top better seafood. After doing it in this day, I'd absolutely personally save the money.

Love it! Only reason why it's not 5 stars is because service at bar was lovely but I can't say the same for the lady that took our food order. Other than that it's a great stop!

I don't think I will ever do that again to go here but because we were hungry and not much other options available, we went. I think they could do a better job in customer service though. We were a party of 11 people so we got 2 tables inside. I went to the counter to ask for menus and I told the lady that we are 11 and we need menus . She literally handed me 2 menus. I said, we are 11, we need more . She gave me one more . I said can I have a couple more please , she gave me one more. So, I came back with 4 menus . Anyway, we ordered some salmon tacos and wraps. They were ok. Not that much salmon in it considering the prices. They took a long time to prepare and when we asked for one drink because we forgot to order, the lady gave us an attitude saying you should have ordered it at the window. Im sorry , you being the only restaurant in town doesn't give you the right to raise your eyebrows on the tourists that feed you and keep your doors open. Be more polite next time

Although I wasn't a guest at the Glacier Bay Lodge, it was actually my AirB&B Host who suggested I make a reservation for dinner first thing in the morning when I arrived at the lodge. And...btw, Glacier Bay Lodge is the departure point for boat trips out on the waters of Glacier Bay. The dock area is located right in the rear of the lodge. I was fortunate enough to grab a 6:15pm reservation, though this was for one of the last weekends of the tourism season, at the end of August. Also, one more thing, lol...to explore Glacier National Park...by boat is the only way it can be navigated. The National Park Services in conjunction with the Glacier Bay Lodge offers one, 8 hour excursion from 8am - 4pm every day throughout the summer season. The website for boat tours is: https://www.visitglacierbay.com/tours/glacier-bay-day-tour/ So, it just efficiently made sense to have dinner here at the Fairweather Dining Room after finishing seeing Glacier Bay. I would also recommend to others out there to take the day boat tour and come here for dinner. Almost everyone on my tour was a familiar face eating inside the dining room afterwards. Another thing, lol, if you're not staying at Glacier Bay Lodge...then there's not many options to eat in the remote town of Gustavus. After dinner, my AirB&B Host was kind enough to pick me up at the lodge and drive me back to my cabin. Some details about this Fairweather Dining Room... - It had a cozy and rustic feel to it. There was a fireplace right nearby within the lodge. - The menu is limited to just a few options including salmon, halibut and fish and chips. There was also ribeye steak and a chicken dish. But, of course, when here on the Glacier Bay waters of the Inside Passage of Alaska...how can you not have seafood? I chose the halibut. According to the menu... "Baked Alaskan Halibut with lemon herb compound-butter, red-skinned garlic mashed potatoes, sauteed carrots and asparagus". As usual, it didn't eat heavy so I had room for dessert...a warm brownie with vanilla ice cream, drizzled caramel syrup and whipped cream (which wasn't even on the menu, but suggested by my server). Lastly, I had a decent view of the boating dock pier though the whole day was dampened by cloudy, foggy and tough conditions outside. Overall, eating here at the Fairweather Dining Room was still a rewarding way to end my visit to Glacier Bay National Park. I really liked the food, service and charming setting.

While this isn't my favorite (try Sandbar), the fish is fresh and it's pretty hard to complain. Another win for fish and chips in the area. The shape of the potatoes is a bit weird looking, but surprisingly it works and they were nice and crispy. I did think the fish batter was a tad doughy on the inside, and yet a little overcooked on the outside. Not the end of the world though, and I still enjoyed it. We did stop by during the week for lunch and the truck was closed, which was a bit annoying. One of the brewery employees said this place doesn't always open reliably, for various reasons. Just something to be aware of. Better luck on the weekends. Anybody who takes the ALASKA cruise always know you have to stop at Tracy's to experience the huge crab legs. The moment we got off of the boat at the boat, we caught a shuttle which dropped us off. We completed some souvenir shopping and next stop was TRACY's. We noticed the line at Tracy's #1 but we were informed of ALL YOU CAN EAT CRABS @ TRACY'S #2. It was a pretty distance walking but we decided to start and begin hiking. I saw a bicycle tour guide and asked if he could give me a tour on the way to TRACY's while the rest of the crew walked. We arrived at TRACY's # 2 and it was a nice short line. We hurry up and jumped in the line and ready to explore these HUGE CRABS. The back yard party was very unique and well kept. It looked your own huge backyard. As you walk into the garden area the bathrooms are to the left and to the right is the line which orders are taking at a small cottage house.
