Helpful counter gal helped us make choices as we are BLUE CRAB VIRGINS! We chose 1 1/2 dozen medium to large crabs for two people. Based on other reviews, I also ordered a single crab cake, corn and hush puppies for the man. I asked her to send someone out to demonstrate how to open the crabs, and she said absolutely! After a short (seemed really long) wait sipping Coke and water with our toes in the sand under the paper covered table, our crabs were steamed and brought out. A cheerful young man showed us how to open the crabs and which parts we wanted to remove and discard. Armed with the provided mallet and pick, we went to work. On first smash, husband sprayed me with crab juice, so I donned a charming and attractive plastic bib for the remainder of the meal. Technique improved with practice, but I found it to be a lot of work for a tiny amount of meat. Very flavorful, and improved by dipping in drawn butter and old bay seasoning, my little pile of crab meat was shoveled into my mouth with a fork as no pieces were very large. I made time to try the crab cake and munch on the corn in between wrestling with the blue crabs. Crab cake was not as much crab as filler, although tasty enough, it wasn't the best I have had. The corn was stellar, not mushy or overcooked. His hush puppies were crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. A generous serving, we took half home for the air fryer. We devoured every last bite of the crab though! A real treat occurred when we were nearly finished with our meal, the owner Rob came out to chat. Fascinated by his slip trip and fall prevention device, we had a long conversation about his inventions and marketing them. He shared his business card and even demonstrated the wet floor verbal indicator. Husband really enjoyed meeting him and talking (engineer to engineer). It made the day!

We ordered the seafood combo that included six hard-shell crabs, three pounds of snow crab legs, a half-pound of shrimp, corn, and hush puppies. The hard-shell crabs were decent, although they seemed slightly oversteamed. The meat in the legs was practically fused to the shell, making them difficult to eat. The snow crab legs were good, but the shrimp were noticeably undercooked, which made peeling them nearly impossible. There were a few bright spots. The beer was reasonably priced at $4.50 a pint, and the hush puppies were excellent--arguably the best part of the entire meal. The corn, however, was tough and seemed past its prime. For the roughly $145 we spent on the combo, I expected a better overall dining experience. Sadly, this seems to be the standard at many seafood restaurants these days: higher prices without a corresponding increase in quality. And while it's a minor issue compared to the food, the deck seating chairs were surprisingly uncomfortable and felt out of place for a restaurant charging these prices. Overall, the meal wasn't terrible, but it fell well short of expectations given the cost.

Our table of four shared a bunch of small plates and a few larger dishes. We tried the steamed mussels, buffalo wings, tuna crisps, baked oysters, short rib pot pie, and Kung Pao calamari. The rich short rib pot pie was excellent, and we loved the baked oysters with aged cheddar, honey chipotle, and fresh chimichurri. Our favorite was the Kung Pao calamari, which had a great sweet Asian heat that made it a fun spin on the classic. i'm not big on yelp and don't like to leave reviews but i felt this was needed. We love coming to hooked but our recent visit just was not the best. We came in sunday night for a nice dinner and we sat upstairs, the upstairs has a lovely atmosphere and it is our preferred sitting since it tends to be much quieter, and no wait which is always good and had no problems being sat. I believe our servers name started with an N but i cant remember off the top of my head. Our service was super slow and for the restaurant being fairly empty it was a unacceptable. We barely had any time to eat our appetizers (calamari and short rib) the calamari is our favorite and the short rib seems to be new to the menu and was fantastic but we only got halfway through before our entrees came out. We always look forward to getting the bread they make in house but we never received any i'm not sure if this was an issue on the servers or the kitchen. This was our first time coming back this season and the menu has had some big changes so my husband had some questions involving the new menu, our server didn't really seem to have any knowledge of the menu and seemed lackadaisical. I ended up going with the scallops which has always been one of my favorites and my husband went with the mahi mahi, aside from our food coming out pretty much on top of my appetizers the food was delicious. We plan to keep coming to this establishment we just hope the service will improve in the future. read more

My husband, daughter and I came here for lunch and had a good overall experience. We found this restaurant thanks to many positive yelp reviews. We ordered two appetizers (fish tacos, calamari) and shared the jumbo lump crab sandwich. We also got a kids meal (Mac and cheese and fries). The calamari was decent, with a nice crunch on the outside. It had a spicy mayo dressing already drizzled on top. The fish taco appetizer came with two tacos. There were two tacos with a flour tortilla, shredded cabbage, and very delicious picked onions, topped with a zesty sauce. The flavors of the sauce and picked onions made the tacos delicious! However the fish by itself was a little bland. The highlight of our meal was the crab cake sandwich. The sandwich had very large lumps of delicious blue crabs. It tasted very fresh and not like canned, watered down lump crab. The kids meal was also pretty tasty. However it was nothing special, as it tasted like boxed Mac and cheese. For $8, the kids meal seemed very overpriced to me. This place also has a nice outdoor, small Tiki Bar with nice outdoor seating and hanging lights. We sat indoor because it was so humid outside, but the outdoor option seems like it would be nice in the evening for dinner on cooler nights. Overall, we definitely recommend this restaurant. However, it is a pricey option, especially the kids menu. read more

I was excited to try Hooked, but overall it just didn't live up to expectations. On the plus side, the space is bright, coastal-cozy, and beautifully designed--such a cute and inviting place to dine. The menu also reads well, and a few dishes delivered. The crab soup was excellent--rich and loaded with flavor. The shrimp tacos were a hit, and the salmon seemed fresh and well-prepared. But beyond that, there were too many misses. The burrata sounded amazing but arrived flat and lacking basic seasoning. The calamari had some flavor, but it was over-fried and dried out. The so-called wedge salad wasn't really a wedge at all--just a small pile of chopped romaine with random toppings. The entrées were even more disappointing. The scallops came out cold and had to be reheated. My shrimp and grits, ordered without pork, came out with sausage. While the staff apologized and remade the dish (and discounted it by half), the timing was poor--by the time my plate arrived, everyone else at the table had already finished eating. Honestly, the whole thing should've been comped. Overall, Hooked is a pretty dining experience with some bright spots on the menu, but for the price and reputation, the execution fell short. read more

We went here for the first time after looking up yelp and saw a 4.5 stars rating. My wife ordered the local crab cake. I had a Cioppino. And my 2.5 yr-old had chicken tenders and fries (and stuff off our plates). The Cioppino was the best seafood dish I have had for a long time including some of the best seafood restaurants I have visited in NY. These guys know how to do scallops to perfection. I strongly recommend this dish. 90% of this review is about this dish. It's been 2 days and that dish is still on my mind. The sauce was sooooo good. Everything about the Cioppino dish was absolutely amazing. My wife had the local crab cake... honestly, we have had better. It was a lot of crab meat which was good... but what it was served on, we were not impressed. The tenders for my little girl was ... bland. It didn't have much taste. Maybe it was on purpose for little kids... I don't know. But it was too bland for her (or us). We wish we had tried the calamari or the crab dip... We will, next time... and there will be a next time. :) read more

Fresh? Yes. Local? Yes. Honest? Nope. We ordered a crab bisque soup the first day of our vacation which was absolutely delicious. On the last day of vacation (actually 10 minutes ago) I ordered the same soup. Due to construction below, I placed the to go order at the bar. After ordering two bowls to go and paying $17 a waiter told the bar tender that they only had shrimp bisque. After a back and forth the bar tender and waiter, the bar tender took me back downstairs and went to the kitchen for my soup. As I waited, I could loudly and clearly hear the chef telling the bar tender that this was indeed shrimp bisque (not crab) but that I would never be able to tell the difference. Multiple times, I could hear "she won't tell the difference, here I will throw some crab in it." The bar tender came out handed me the SHRIMP bisque soup and was on his way. A little honesty would have been much appreciated. The insult is enough for me not to go back here again, sadly. If I order and pay for crab, I expect crab. read more

I had heard so many reviews raving about this place, so I had to come check it out. Atmosphere was really nice, two levels of seating, and some cute outside tables as well. Greeted promptly and sat inside. The drink menu was very diverse and had some creative cocktails on there, definitely going to try many of them at some point. Our server was excellent and explained all the specials in depth. Someone who appeared to be the head chef or maybe owner was going around inquiring how everyones meal was....everyone except our table. I thought it was a little odd, but we didn't take it personally. Calamari was the best I've had in Ocean City, even though they only serve it with a mayo-type sauce. The rosemary foccacia bread was excellent, seeing something besides just plain bread and butter was very refreshing. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because my mahi was quite fishy and paired with a mediocre sauce, everyone else loved their food though. Definitely will give it another try. read more

My wife and I celebrated Valentine's Day here. Before choosing this restaurant I read the reviews and they don't do the place justice! For starters we had the Boom Boom shrimp and baked local oysters, hot and very tasty (don't forget the lemon on the shrimp). Our main course consisted of the Bozman's crab cakes and the Ciopino. First off the Ciopino was delicious, not to spicy yet not bland either. The flavor was explosive and very addictive, and honestly it was almost enough for two. The crab cakes were large in size and not full of filler like other crab cakes. You get two of them coupled with their large portioned old bay fries and it was plenty for me. The overall price was surprisingly low for the quality of food that was served. Couple that with the great atmosphere and Sean our on time waiter will definitely bring us back again read more

My daughter got steak and a crab cake and I highly enjoyed her crab cake (not a lot of filler). She devoured the steak. Friends for the fried green tomato BLT and said that was delicious too. My friend ordered the steak and crab cake, and those crab cakes were INCREDIBLE! She was kind enough to let me try them, and wow. The steak was fair, but the crab cakes were the standout. I ordered a special featuring sea scallops with succotash (corn and green beans) and grit cakes--three gigantic ones! The scallops were beautifully cooked and practically melted like butter. The flavors were light and delicate, which really let the scallops shine. The portion was generous, too. I couldn't even finish one of the grit cakes, but I definitely made sure to eat my fill of the corn and scallops! My other friend had the crab cake dinner and absolutely loved it as well. Service was delightful. She was attentive and friendly. Such a fun little place to discover! I'd definitely go back to try more of their seafood.

The conch fritters were crispy on the outside, tender inside, and paired perfectly with the tangy citrus mustard dipping sauce. The burgers were juicy, flavorful, and cooked just right, while the Crispy Fish BLT delivered a crunchy, flaky fish fillet with fresh lettuce, tomato, and crispy bacon on a torpedo roll. I also really love their fries! My husband got the Stonejack baller, it was really good as well. The portions were generous, the atmosphere was relaxed, and the inlet views made the meal even better. It's a great place to enjoy good food while taking in one of the best waterfront views in Ocean City. We came also perfect timing as they have a band singing. The only few complains I have was we waited for few minutes even they were a lot of available tables outside (not sure why-maybe reservation?) also our waitress gave us all drinks except for one, and it also took few minutes before she came back for that drink. No biggie, she seems new and nice. Also some drinks were a but water down. Will definitely be back but might try other place around as well.

The smell of old bay, salty crabs, and open air feeling just slap you across the face in the best way. I ordered the snow crab legs because I personally hate picking blue crabs (I'm not originally from Maryland, haters gunna hate), but I was so happy I got to partake in the crab fun. My snow crabs were so plentiful and fun! Literally everything you want in crabs from a crab house. My husband got the triple trifecta and his quote, "definitely a good time on a plate". My kids were also a fan on their chicken tender meals. However, the real cherry on top was the dirt cup sundae in a sand bucket. It was a basic sundae, but it was so much fun for my kids that it came in a bucket. If you really want to feel liked you're at a Maryland beach vacation, this is the place to go.
