Wow. Absolutely incredible. First, let me just say that if you're coming for dinner, come a little early. By the time my friend and I left around 6:30, the place was packed and there were tons of people outside waiting for a table. The word is definitely out that this is a great place. The service was fantastic. Our server was friendly and helpful and the food and drinks came out really quickly. For drinks, I had a peach margarita (delicious and very peachy) and my friend had a blueberry martini of sorts (loaded with fresh berries). Both were good, but the margarita was a good compliment to dinner. We were served some bread which came pre-drizzled with olive oil and herbs. Very tasty. We ordered the crab and chips appetizer which came out very quickly. I'm more accustomed to seeing thinks like bread or pieces of pita served with crab dip and the crunchy kettle-style chips were an excellent compliment to the gooey cheese and hunks of crab. Both the dip and chips weren't too salty, which is usually the case with these types of dishes. I am not too big on seafood (blasphemy, I know!) so while my friend ordered halibut (a special) I ordered a salad and a side of squash. The squash was lightly fried in olive oil, perfectly (lightly) seasoned with salt. It was a mix between yellow squash and zucchini. My salad was absolute perfection. It contained bibb lettuce, chopped asparagus, crumbled egg, bacon pieces, slivers of hard cheese, and came with a truffle dressing. Absolute heaven. The salad and side were perfectly sized and made a great alternative to a standard entree. Overall, this was one of the best restaurants I've been to this year. We went here based on the yelp reviews and I'm glad we did. The soup is delicious and I highly recommend it! Not spicy at all. I had crab cakes with almost no fillers, exactly what you would expect in Maryland! Oysters cold and fresh. All the apps were really good. We've been coming to OCMD for years and this is hands down the best dining experience we've ever had - from the service to the food, I cannot say enough good things about Hooked!!! I started with a refreshing grapefruit crush which was so good. Appetizers were divine!! Calamari and the flatbread were SO good but the killer was the roasted corn and jalapeño crab bisque. It was heavenly! Our entrees were equally amazing! My husband has the Steak Frites ( cooked to perfection) and I had the scallops. You can tell that all ingredients are fresh and the chef cares about pleasing his/her guests. Quality and taste!!!!! This restaurant is definitely not the normal Ocean City type of restaurant. It still has the laid back feel, but also adds a flare of fresh local ingredients with a little more classy feel compared to the normal OC restaurants that you can just walk in with a coverall over your bathing suit. I can see that this place is a nice date restaurant and has a beach ambiance with a little fine dining flare. For the food...the menu changes a bit day to day and week to week but the staple foods are always on the menu - there may be a change in the vegetable used or the sauce or other ingredients based on local and seasonal availability. The apps - tried the buttermilk battered calamari with spicy mayo and micro celery - this was nicely battered and had a nice crunch to it. Definitely a good starter to share. If they have their beet salad on the menu, I'd recommend that...dressing was nice and light and the arugula and goat cheese complimented it very well. I tried the seared scallops for my entree. The scallops weren't the HUGE ones that you may normally get at fine dining restaurants when you only get maybe 3-4. Instead I had about 5-7 medium sized ones. The scallops were tender and I liked the greens and the cheesy grits with it as complements to the dish. However, the dish was a little too salty for my liking to the point where I couldn't finish my meal, but I may also have a more sensitive palette compared to the norm. For the drinks...The specialty cocktails were very well made and had just the right amount of alcohol! Try the sangria...it's pretty refreshing! There are also lots of local and unique beers on tap and they're always changing. They don't take reservations so it's first come first serve basis. If you're thinking about coming here with a big party, maybe send a rep to put your name down first or just get there really early. I can see it getting packed in the summer and on the weekends. And in conclusion........... Probably the best calamari I've eaten. Mix that with a crab cake entree with zero filler, and it makes for a nice dinner. The only problem I have here is that half of the dishes either have bacon in them or are bacon infused. It's kind of bacon overkill. Why does anyone need bacon if the dish is already good? Besides that, why do so many people think bacon makes everything better? It really doesn't, it's just trendy. I'm surprised there isn't a Bacon infused, Applewood bacon topped with bacon bacon bread sandwich with bacon aoli and bacon garnish dish. Wow wow wow! My girlfriend and I come to Hooked every summer that we travel to OC. It's our favorite place to eat and never disappoints. For cocktails, we tried the blueberry lemonade - freshly made, not too sweet or tart. And the beer selection is very good too. For an app we got the fried calamari because it is the best we've ever had! The remoulade just seals the deal on the this dish. For entrees my girlfriend got the scallops and I got the fish and chips. The scallops were tender and perfectly cooked. The corn was a slightly over cooked, but the cheesy grits were delicious. And the fish and chips is amazing! Some of the best I e ever had. Two huge filets with light flakey breading and perfectly cooked. Service was very good and being able to sit at the bar and have a drink while waiting is a wonderful perk. Sold out of one special entrée before we got there (at 8:30pm), And we sat at one of their bars (they have THREE!!) for about 45 minutes, and then they took up upstairs. the hostess station was a little...unclear about how to handle things. But all was alright, and here's why: Asparagus salad with egg, onions, pecorino, BACON, truffled aioli. Holy, eff yes. Looks a little jumbled, but delicious, fresh. Next was a different take on a caprese salad: Smaller balls of fresh mozzarella, a bit more arugula than I'm used to (but had grown to LOVE), fresh freshly cut tomatoes. I could tell this was cut and tossed moments before it was brought to me. My entrée was cioppino, and surprisingly light in both color, almost a bouillabaisse/cioppino mixture the shellfish, fin fish, and chorizo were warm and spicy, and though I may not order this again, (my dad likes it more than I do) it's because I prefer one seafood type for an complete entrée (not including sushi) Mr. V's entrée was crabcakes: He says the cakes were a little bland, But the sauce was amazing. Food ordered: jerked chicken wings, crab dip, calamari, shrimp tacos. I had to order two appetizers when we went because I wanted to try everything on the menu! Husband got the chicken wings and they were HUGE and super hot when they arrived. He dug into them and absolutely loved them. I opted for the two seafood apps. I'm not a huge fan of calamari but the reviews on here made it sound amazing. I was completely blown away. They were tender, not chewy and super tasty. The spicy mayo on them is perfection and should be put on everything. However, since I'm a noob to eating calamari and have never seen tentacles up close they kind of freaked me out and it's what made me stop eating them. I'm determined to try that part tho next time!! The crab dip, it was good. Not blow me away good, but tasty. Being a Maryland native we have crab dip everywhere and I enjoy trying it everywhere we go. I'd never had bacon in it which is why I wanted to order it. The bacon definitely adds something, but it's not as creamy as you'll find at other places. The shrimp tacos were delicious. I love the buttermilk coating and the cabbage adds a great crunch. I kind of wish it came with something tho to make it a more hearty meal. Because had we not gotten 3 apps we would have left hungry. We had traveled for ten hours by the time we reached this restaurant, with very little to eat. To say we were hungry would be an understatement. Hungry or not, the food was genuinely very good, as was the service. We had a dozen Chincoteague oysters with a pomegranate mignonette, steamed middleneck clams, and calamari as appetizers, followed by tomato and chèvre soup, and finally, crabcakes. We had the crabcakes with grits instead of the myriad greens, et al, that normally come with them. This proved to be a good move, as the grits were superb. The crab cakes were also superb, on a par with the excellent crab cakes at Elliott's Oyster House in Seattle. Lots of lump crab meat, and very little binder. The soup was thick and delicious. I added a little cracked black pepper, and blended the chèvre into the soup. Very tasty. The calamari was crisp and slightly sweet. The clams were small, tender, and delicious, swimming in a garlic and herb broth. The oysters were a bit bland compared to West Coast oysters, but very fresh. The mignonette made them tasty and pleasant. My wife had the Orange Crush cocktail, and I had a Sazerac. The Orange Crush was refreshing and delicious. A warning to anyone who might be tempted to drink a half a dozen of them (I could have easily done so): they have a decent amount of high-end vodka in them. My nephew makes a better Sazerac, but to be fair, his Sazerac rates an 11 out of 10. Hooked's Sazerac rates 9 out of 10. With an appropriate tip and a bottle of Chalone's Gavilan chardonnnay, this meal came to $170. This pricing was fair, as the service was excellent, the ambience is terrific, and the experience was just what we needed after a long trip from El Paso to Ocean City. read more

Finding places like this is why I Yelp!! I eat out about 100+ times per year on business, and the cioppino I had at Hooked last night was the best resturant dish I've had in the last 5 years. My wife had the seared scallops over cheesy grits with caramelized onions. OMG. The Caesar salad we had as an appetizer was also great. Top it off with an inviting decor, friendly waitstaff, and a complete wine list, and you have the recipe for a wonderful dining experience. Simply Amazing. Earlier this week, we hosted our Annual Client Dinner at Hooked, and it was an extra special event as it is our 25th Anniversary as well. We are proud to be the largest party Hooked has ever hosted at about 90 people. Once I started working with the Manager, Paula, planning became incredibly easy (there was a while when I was working with their catering manager who wasn't very easy to get in touch with). Never having seen the place or tried the food myself, Paula was super helpful in nailing down the details. The day before the event, I went to Hooked, we rearranged tables and got everything to look just how I wanted. I loved that the second floor has it's own bar, it made things super easy. Paula explained everything that was going to happen, who we would be working with the next night, etc. I had no worries after that. Night of, seating was a bit tight for our large group but we made it work. Now to the fun stuff, the food and drinks! They made up a Signature Cocktail to our specifications, a White Cosmopolitan with blackberry garnish, perfect! That was so tasty, and definitely dangerous! The Sawbuck Cabernet Sauvignon they suggested was delicious and the Three Pears Pinot Gris was, too- although I personally only had eyes for the Signature Drink that night! Hors D'ouvres were a stationary Spinach & Artichoke Dip, and then passed around were Mini Crab Cakes and Wild Mushroom Crostini. The crab cakes were soooo good, the others I heard were delish as well. Appetizer was a beautiful wedge salad with bleu cheese, bacon & cherry tomatoes. We had picked Filet Mignon, Pan Seared Chicken, Mustard Glazed Salmon and a Vegetarian Fried Green Tomato dish as our entrees. I had a delicious Filet and after asking around, all the other dishes were just as scrumptious! And for dessert, a sampling of Key Lime Pie, French Toast Bread Pudding, and Chocolate Peanut Butter Squares. Ugh, they were heaven, my mouth is watering as I think about them. And I said 'sampling' but those were some huge samples! Our servers and bartenders were on top of everything and were so polite, confident and cheerful. Couldn't have asked for better service. So thank you Kelsey, Tabor, Tim, Greg, Mike and anyone else I may be forgetting. And especially Thank You to Paula for all her hard work, making me feel at ease through the whole process. It's not often when I plan events, especially such a large one, that I get to feel confident of everything going off without a hitch! After reading all of the great reviews left for this restaurant, I was very disappointed. Okay it is the off-season (Oct.), and maybe their A team wasn't working. But the chicken was way over cooked, and only one of the two soft shells crabs, was okay. No refills on the water or soda. We ate upstairs and the tabletop was very sticky. My husband and I came here on the first night of our mini-moon (mini honeymoon)...we couldn't have been more pleased! Everything was fresh and cooked perfectly! We did the 3 course, $18 special...we started with a Caesar Salad and Tomato Bisque - both were very good...the caesar dressing was homemade, and the best I've ever had! For our entrees, we both had the grilled swordfish over a bed of cous-cous, sausage and tomatos...I've had swordfish plenty of times before, but it has never been cooked so perfectly! It was tender and seasoned perfectly! Plus, the portion was pretty large! For dessert, we tried the Pumpkin Cheesecake...Oh My God! It was amazing!! It was served with nuts and a drizzle of caramel...SO GOOD! The drinks were absolutely delicious! I got the "Bees Knees"....it had Gin, some kind of citrus juice, and fresh honey...YUM! Two words for you: Shrimp tacos! When my favorite place for fish tacos was closed we went on the search to find the next best thing. We tried a couple places before landing here @ Hooked. We always order a few different items then share all. We had the bacon wrapped scallops, 2 fish tacos & 2 shrimp tacos. My husband loved the fish tacos while i loved the shrimp. Their combination of flavors is amazing: cabbage, pickled onions & fresh pico; excellent! Service was great. Atmosphere could improve (my opinion ).
