In a day and age when too many restaurants seem satisfied with simply getting a plate of food in front of your face, however uninspired or poorly executed, HOOKED is like a beacon of hope in a sea of bad restaurants. It was clear even upon entering that much thought and care goes into the customer experience..... from the management, to the food concepts, to the execution of the food, to the service....HOOKED endeavors to give the customer an experience not only worth remembering, but one that's worth repeating. If you're looking for thoughtful and delicious casual dining, this is your place. My sister and went on a short 'sister's trip' to Ocean City in late January. MANY restaurants are closed for the off season and in reading the menus for the few that were open we were left not hoping for much. Then, we happened upon HOOKED. The first night we were seated upstairs at the bar. Jay took excellent care of us. She was personable , professional, and helpful. We enjoyed 3 appetizers, each had an entree, and then shared the homemade key lime pie which did not disappoint. The food and service were so good that we returned the following night to sample more of the menu. We were seated downstairs on this night and were served by Kaylie who was excellent from start to finish. We tried 3 different apps again, each an entreee, then shared the bread pudding at the end. Neither one of us was disappointed in any of the food or any aspect of the service. Delighted isn't a strong enough word for how we felt to have happened upon HOOKED. It made our trip that much more fun and memorable. We're already planning next year's trip, knowing full well that we'll be dining at HOOKED again..... most likely more than once. read more

Sat at the upstairs bar orders the Tuna. Several people sat at the bar and orders after me and received their food before me. Asked the bartender and was informed they needed to cut more tuna. 10 min latter received my dish with half the Tuna as my last few visits. Three small pieces. Informed the bartender and she responded with not sure what they are doing down there. I like this place but the service, food and response was extremely poor this visit. I don't post but felt this visit was extremely poor read more

Food was good but fell short of my expectations. I mean the flavors were there for the most part, but at this price point I was hoping for more. Arrived 12 minutes before our to-go order pickup time and the food was ready to go. When we got home just 4 minutes away, everything was lukewarm at best. My hooked burger was delicious but disappointed that the only veggie topping was a sheet of lettuce and the fries were soggy and clumped together. The grilled mahi was a bit dry and wasn't a big fan of the orzo side that it was plated with. Just too sweet and the cauliflower was mostly raw. The rest of the items were pretty good though besides being lukewarm. Enjoyed the scallops and everything on the plate, creamy corn and crab bisque, and boom boom shrimp. Good flavors, these three dishes I would order again. Overall, I'd give our experience 3.5 but since half stars aren't available, had to round down to 3. read more

My new favorite place here. I've lived here for 2 years and finally went last Saturday and again tonight. Went with my bro and mom on Saturday and we all split apps. The octopus was delicious and I'm not usually a huge fan but I'd eat this again. The fried oysters and calamari were very tasty and had great breading. The mussels were also good The service and cocktails were excellent Went back tonite for the $20 cioppino special. Wow, another delicious meal The broth was great and plenty of seafood ( shrimp, scallops, clams, mussels, fish which I think was salmon, Mahi and rockfish and andouille sausage which had a nice kick plus the toasted bread to sop up the broth My spicy Paloma was tasty and our servers were attentive and friendly ( and cute ) I will definitely be back read more

RIP Hooked Used to be a staple of our trips. I'm sitting here with a tasteless and tiny portion of halibut. For $37, you should expect more than 4oz of fried fish without seasoning. The new menu is horrible and so is the food. Guess this place was sold. Save your money and go to McDonalds. read more

I took my family of 6 here on a Monday. Week before 4th of July. Two adults and 4 kids. There was plenty of parking right in front. We walked up the ramp to a door that directed us back down the ramp to the front door. I feel that many first timers make this mistake. There was an outside bar, being Monday there was only one customer at the bar. We were greeted and offered a table upstairs, which was nice. Inside there was another bar upstairs and we were seated at a booth. Our waitress was very nice, but seemed a little new. We ordered drinks for the kids. One of my kids ordered tea, which was unsweetened and I ordered a coffee. We asked for sugar, and the waitress brought over a tray. The tray only had artificial sweeteners, so I asked for actual sugar. She brought over three packs, which I gave to my son. I asked for more sugar, and she brought over a single packet. I ended up just drinking my coffee with the one pack of sugar. Then I needed to ask for a spoon for the coffee. The food itself was delicious. We ordered some appetizers which consisted of the chicken wings, a crab bisque, mussels and the boom boom shrimp. We ordered as entrees, the Halibut, fish tacos and fish and chips. Everything was a huge hit. This was the priciest of all the restaurants we dined at during our trip, but we were on vacation, and we were happy to pay for good food. It was a Monday, so it was pretty empty. I'm sure it gets packed on the weekends. Would definitely dine here again. read more

No hostess at the hostess stand so we stood there waiting to be acknowledged for 5 minutes even the bartender who was right infront of us behind the bar didn't acknowledge us Food was overall good but my halibut was overcooked and dry...the bread stix were amazing with the olive oil and spices...server was a sweet heart but it was near closing time and she disappeared doing sidework ‍then the check came and we were being charged a separate fee for using our credit card...cmon people you own a business and offer credit card as a payment therefore as a business owner you should be sucking up the cost to run your credit card machine not the consumer...running your credit card machine is your expense not mine..thats a HUGE turnoff and a sneeky cheap move... we wont be returning... read more

This place has absolutely become a staple in our OCMD trip! They recently redid the inside and it's gorgeous - so inviting! Our server was Cayley and she did a phenomenal job. She was great at answering questions regarding the menu. We started off with the olives and seared ahi tuna crudo. Definitely a different take on olives but delish. The ahi crudo was flavorful and the chef put a creative spin on it. The fried mozzarella was excellent with the tomato jam and dipping sauce. We just wish there was a bit more or plated differently to give you the perception that there was more. The beignets were FABULOUS! I was a bit skeptical on the pimento cheese but wow! My only suggestion would be to do cornbread to give you the real southern feel. Lastly, the cioppino dish is my favorite! I got it last year and this year. Drinks could use a little perfecting but good. Definitely recommend this place while visiting!! read more

I'm pretty hooked to this place I must say! I saw a fellow Yelper's review and pictures so I was very excited to check this out for myself. I saw a Friday Special on their website for a 3 course meal for $25. When we arrived, the hostess mentioned that the last day for this special was last Friday. They never took this section down from their site so it was a bit misleading. When we finally got seated, we waited 15 minutes for our server to acknowledge us and get our orders so for both reasons I knocked off a star. Despite of the messy beginning, the food tasted fantastic! We ordered calamari for starters and the spicy drizzle on it had a kick to it but was very flavorful. I ordered the crab cake sandwich as my main entree and the lumpy crab meat was the highlight of my meal. You know how some places add more breading than the actual crab? Well not here. The sandwich was so crabby and meaty, every bite was a treat. Officially on my favorite list of eats at OC. read more

This is the best meal on Ocean City if you ask me. The cocktail menu is extensive, the Manhattan being served martini style. Very good. The seafood here is extraordinary. Table service was excellent. Hooked has a small dining room but they DO take reservations. read more

Well deserving of 5 stars at every turn. Let me tell you why you need to head to Hooked right now. Every bite of food was fantastic. The crap dip was rich and tangy with great pretzels and a yeasty, dense house bread. The cod tacos were so delicious and fresh - from the pico and slaw to the mayo. The star of my plate was actually the crab bisque. This was the best crab bisque I've ever had in my life. Creamy, somewhat sweet, a depth of whatever vinegar element they used, and giant lumps of crab. My partner got the scallops and grits which were the most flavorful scallops we'd had in OC. Honestly, we've been to a couple seafood restaurants this trip and it pales in comparison to our experience at Hooked. The service was also quite attentive and helpful. Multiple checks to make sure our drinks were fresh and we were happy with our food. Very timely in bringing the check and providing boxes. All around great service. Pro Tip: If there's a wait, they will take your number and call you when your table is available. There are some cute shops to explore nearby while you wait. read more

Mussels soup appetizer- lack flavor in broth, but tasted okay.. "wouldn't order again" The steak (no picture) was too chard so black on corners, but inside was yummy. Crab cheese dip (no picture) didn't find any crab bc only had heavy thick cheese and heavy cream so it was very disappointing .. "wouldn't order again" Shrimp & Grits (add on scallops)-was very delicious because shrimp & scallops were cooked very well and the flavor was delicious. Chicken bowel dish- the chicken was put on top of the bowel so once it's cut, it's drowned in the bowel of soup , though the pasta n chicken flavor was delicious. read more

I was super stoked to try Hooked based on their awesome reviews! Fiance and I went to early-ish dinner on a Friday night and were able to be seated right away. This is definitely a date-night or nicer vacation dinner. They had a great deal for a three-course meal for $25 (I'm not sure if this all year or just during the off-season). There was a decent selection for the entree choices. I opted for the calamari, salmon, and oatmeal creme pie with coconut for dessert. Fiance got calamari, Cioppino, and key-lime pie. We also got a dozen of oysters to start with. Everything was fresh and delicious! Portions were large, especially for the three-course option (a full portion entree). We left satisfied and full of seafood. I would definitely return! read more

Came to Ocean City during the off season and wanted some local seafood. Found this and was super happy. The ambiance is really cute; two bars is always a plus. My wife and I stopped in on a cloudy, damp Saturday for lunch. We were Immediately greeted with warm smile and offered a booth, table, or seat at the bar. Our server (Page) was quick, knowledgable, and friendly. She was able to make great recommendations about the menu as well as things to do in the local area. The cioppino was outstanding. The perfect choice for a dreary day. The grilled swordfish paired superbly will a draft of tiki tea from the beer list. Highly recommended this inviting tavern. Used to work here in 2017 and shuck oysters behind the rawbar and barback. I miss some of the old menu items but otherwise still delicious. We loved Hooked! We came with a party of 10 at 5pm on a Tuesday night and were seated right away, but as our meal went on the restaurant filled up really quickly. Our server (I forgot her name...but she was tall and blonde - sorry!) was just the best, always checking in on us and helped to surprise someone in our party with a birthday. Apps: crab dip was awesome, so creamy. The pretzel bites were delicious too. Calamari was tasty as well (no marinara sauce - this is fancy calamari). Someone in our party said it was the best calamari they'd ever eaten. Bang bang shrimp was good - nothing spectacular and what you'd expect. Mussels were delicious! The red sauce with wine was to die for. Entrees: Took a little while to come, but they were delicious! Scallops were soooo good. I died for the cheesy grits on the bottom too. Only thing was it was a tid bit salty for my taste. Blackened mahi mahi was good, I just don't think I love mahi as a fish that much. The potatoes on the side were really tasty. Fish and chips - classic, fish was not seasoned much so make sure you dip a lot of tartar sauce for flavor. Cioppino was delicious - similar sauce to the mussel appetizer but without the wine taste. So much seafood in one delicious plate! We did not order dessert but it was someone's birthday so our server came with a candle and some vanilla ice cream for $4. Overall highly recommend this place for a delicious, fresh seafood meal in Ocean City! read more

There are a lot of great restaurants in OC Md, but hands down to me this is the best. Hooked has such a great atmosphere, there is an upstairs, downstairs and an outdoor area for seating, there is an outside bar as well. The bartenders Sean, Hayley and Brendon are so personable and fun. The managers Brittany and Andy are very accommodating and make sure your dining experience exceeds your expectations. I was in there a couple weeks ago for that fantastic Hooked Burger and Julia was my server, another wonderful employee at the restaurant. I also have to mention Nino and the kitchen staff for the fabulous job they do coming up with the creative dishes they put out, the food looks like a work of art and its always fresh. The owners did an amazing job with the restaurant, it's really trendy and beautiful inside. Not overdone, just perfect, all in all it just really adds to the whole hooked experience. Check the website as they do a lot of neat things thru the year like weekly specials, happy hour, great entertainment. I f you are visiting OC Md, please check Hooked out, they are conveniently located on coastal highway, and I cannot say this enough they do not disappoint. read more

My family and I went here for dinner. We got lucky and didn't have to wait and got seated right away upstairs. The service was good and the wait time for food was reasonable. We ordered bunch of menu items as you can see from attached pics. I didn't try Fish N Chips and the tacos so I can't say much other then person who ate it said it was decent. The scallop dish was little salty for my taste and little bitter. The crab dip was little salty too. All other food items were good though. I would consider coming back to try other menu items. read more

My family came here to end our ocean city trip, and it was satisfying. I must say, the service here was great, the waiter was nice and friendly, and the food came out pretty quick after we ordered. The overall atmosphere was comfortable, and the food was really tasty. As to why I only gave this restaurant 4 stars, it's because when we first arrived, we noticed the side plates were dirty and had various stains on them. Also, we ordered the crab bisque, and the meat in it was cold. Even though there were hiccups, it was a pretty good dining experience, and I would love to come here again. read more

Food was disgusting and the mix of it is horrible. Who has a base of bean sauce in salmon? Cheesy "loaded" grits was loaded with bs, and not cooked correctly. All it had was a few green onions n may have had corn in it..Grits had a nasty taste which could've been the cheese used ( not american, provolone or cheddar). Overall 1/10. Customer service was good tho‍ Oh and the crab dip barely had any crab read more

~Hooked~ on this place! This is a really cool restaurant with great seafood. The upstairs seating area has an exuberant ambiance and I loved how all of the decorations were related to the area. Besides being tasty, the food also looked fantastic. I had the crispy skin-on salmon from nova scotia and it was delicious! They even say on the menu the source of every type of fish so you know it's fresh and reliable. A lot of the fish and other food here are sourced locally! Our server was so sweet and attentive. I think she forgot our bread, but the entrees more than made up for it. read more

Svelte spot. Went here for dinner with a group of 10 w/o reservation. After a half hour which is rather fast, got called back to the restaurant. There were two tables near each other where we got seated. I didn't have anything to drink, but ordered the scallops. I would have got the crab cakes but they were slightly too overpriced for me at 40$. The scallops were a bit cheaper and thought they might be nice. Might just be but I didn't really taste my dish. I remember there was some cheesy grit mixed with some bacon, which I like. The bacon and scallops with the sauce honestly didn't taste like much to me; I guess scallops aren't really my style. Though I couldn't say it was bad, but I remember feeling underwhelmed that I couldn't really appreciate it. I would rate my dish as 3 stars overall (meh) but I bumped it up because the service and the atmosphere was really nice. The waiter was a nice lady and was constantly refilling drinks or checking up on us. Overall it was a good experience at Hooked. read more

Food was delicious. My husband had the crab cakes which came with pesto fries and coleslaw. It was delicious. I had the cioppino. It was absolutely delicious. Ambiance was nice as well. The food, service and ambiance was great for my Husbands and Cousin-in-Law Birthday. We asked if they can bring out a dessert with two candles to celebrate and it was perfect, no loud singing, just low key birthday dessert. For the food... delightful. I had the Pan Roasted Dayboat Scallops and it was heavenly. I don't know if it was because I was hungry or the Pretty in Pink opened my taste buds but I ate every drip. I mean, I cleaned my plate with the bread that was given before the entree came out. I sampled every dish at the table and it was all delicious. DELISH and FILLING! None of us could finish our plates. They start you off with pillowy pieces (the number in your party) of Focaccia bread for dipping into EVOO equals heaven! The Calamari is SLAMMING! Just think Bang Bang-styled fry and sauce. They went SWIFTLY! Also had the Grilled Fish Tacos for appetizers. They were decent but could have used more seasoning. Salvaged by the pickled onions. They also needed a stronger char on the tortillas, which would have given them greater flavor. Nephew THOROUGHLY enjoyed his Cioppino. Slightly spicy broth that cradled mountains of seafood: mussels, scallops, clams, shrimp and fish. Son demolished the 2 lb. Crabcakes, which are domes of large chunks of pure crab . Hubs burger was meaty, juicy, seasoned and plancha grilled perfectly with a good cheese, lettuce, tomato and bun ratio. Fish and chips were large Cod cuts crunchy and salted. Drinks were satisfying. The Blueberry Lemonade drink could have had a stronger blueberry presence but that Orange Smash was pure perfection in a glass! Standard social distance and precautions are in place: limited capacity, masks worn by patrons and staff and available sanitizer. Definitely a place to visit and revisit in Ocean City! read more

I am very disturbed to even have to write this. My family (husband, son, sister, father, and myself) came in for dinner today on Tuesday 7/26 at 5:00 pm. We sat in a booth amongst other young families. As we were boxing up our food, another woman who was just seated came up and literally inserted herself into our booth and screamed at us that we were being too loud. Her and her husband cotinued to get into our space as we asked them to step away from our booth and my child. When we asked the manager to intervene she asked US to leave and not come back. We were thoroughly embarrassed. As patrons of all of your establishments, including our favorite Tailchasers, we are especially disappointed in the treatment we received. We promise to honor Lisa's wishes not to come back to ANY of your establishments. I am appalled as a mother and as someone who has worked in the service industry for decades. read more

We were a pretty large group, so we expected a wait wherever we went. Luckily, Hooked has an outdoor bar area too! Some great beers available, as well as cocktails and wine. After one round, our table upstairs was ready. It's a little cozier upstairs (we were pretty much back to back with another table, which... isn't 6 feet to say the least), but it was fine. The beer list here is pretty damn good. Even when you order a beer called "Daddy Juice" and get strange looks from the waitress. Anyway, onto the food. The jerk wings are a solid starter. Meaty wings with tangy sauce. For me main, I had the 6 oz filet surf and turf. Both parts were cooked well, but not exactly steakhouse quality. Good shrimp though. I also tried the Cioppino, which had basically every seafood you could think of in a tomato broth. That's definitely the way to go if you're on a seafood kick. Good place overall. Stop in if the wait isn't too bad. read more
