I went in to exchange an unworn gift, tags still attached.. The woman working said she couldn't take it back because it had been a floor sample. Ok, if you sold it once as a floor sample, couldn't it be sold again? I was willing to pay any difference in whatever item I selected. I come in with my wife so I can't speak to the quality as I'm not a knitter. As a dad that hangs around I find it's a nice and welcoming place. I shall remember this day forever. The day I actually found a real life yarn store. Sure, I've heard the lure of yarn stores of yesteryear, and how they all went the way of the buffalo with the dawn of big box craft stores. But at least one survived my friends, and for lovers of crafting like myself, it was a religious experience! Crafters are the nicest people, and this certainly held true here. Jenna was just lovely, and helped me find my yarn soul mate. While the yarn here is expensive, it is speciality yarn and worth the money. I spent $27 on some roving wool yarn and felt that was a fair price. Apart from beautiful fibrous findings, the store also sells finished items. They have patterns on hand and hold classes as well. I needed more specific yarn to complete a project so I ordered more a month ago only to discover today that the ordered was just placed. I have been in the shop and spoken to different employees but was never told until today that the order had never been placed. I love to support local businesses but Hooked will not be one of those. The shop has now moved to a new location. It is much better space than their old one and I feel better suits them. However, I find their yarn priced on the high end of the normal price range and it's difficult to find patterns in the space. Few displays of patterns, they are all in books/binders, but plenty of samples to see. Also, the yarns I was interested in were limited in quantity. Many of the colors I liked only had 1 or 2 skeins. I hope they get settled in soon, try some new display ideas and work out the kinks of the move. I feel once they get settled in, fill in the empty spaces on the shelves, it will be a fun shop. read more
