They had a display with…read moresome really cute Halloween items, and if I'd stopped in here earlier in the month I 100% would have picked up a onesie for my daughter. They pointed out a couple areas where they have "girl" baby clothes (I mean, clothing doesn't have a gender but we exist in the world where people like to do that). Most of their clothes are for children older than mine but they did have a few things. It's definitely expensive, though, so I don't know that I'd buy a lot here. I did buy some very cute barrettes for my baby (I've found it hard to find some that don't have pieces attached to them, and I don't want pieces that might pull off) and I'll probably purchase more at some point. When I first stopped in the other employee here greeted me and asked what brought me in and if I needed help finding anything. It's not a large place but there is a LOT to look at. They have clothing, accessories, adult jewelry (possibly kids jewelry too, but I wasn't looking at it much), hair notions, and so on. One thing I really needed is a pacifier clip since my daughter has taken to pulling hers out and it ends up in a place in her carseat that is hard for me to reach! They happened to have these which made it a successful shopping trip right there. But whilst we were wandering, Vanessa complimented my sweetie pie and we got to talking. I was in the store for 35 minutes or so and probably half of that was chatting with her. I got a couple of the pacifier clips, and a freaking ADORABLE winter hat that I'm pretty sure is handmade and will probably fly off the shelf. I also bought a book featuring Chicago landmarks which I learned as I checked out Vanessa actually wrote. She autographed it for my baby which I love! Parking is street only and probably can get tough some days, but it's worth the visit. The store is full of really high quality items. They have quite a few Chicago-themed items as well, such as the aforementioned hat, onesies, t-shirts, and so on. It was so nice to talk with Vanessa and get to know her a bit. This is a small shop with big heart and should be on your list of fave baby shops in Chicago.

They had some cute children's bunting as we get closer to the winter months. They were having an "indoor sidewalk sale", with some of their items being up to 75% off--this included clothes, toys, books, and other items and knickknacks. They had some books and stuffed animals that complement the books, like the Little Blue Truck and Corduroy. I bought a cute little dress for the holidays for my daughter, as well as a lovely sweater for the upcoming season. Their children's stuff isn't cheap, but it's not unreasonable for an independent children's store. I was really thankful that I found a place that sells clothing for children--in this case, holiday wear in particular--that is machine washable, because oftentimes children's clothing is marked as dry clean only (whyyyy). There is street parking in this area which can be limited, but I think there's also a Metra stop half a block away from the store.

It was cream color with blue trim. Ivette (I believe she's the owner?) said she wasn't sure we'd be able to get it in time as it's coming from England but she'd verify with the manufacturer on Monday and let me know before taking payment. She showed us several other options in a catalogue and we didn't like any of them. Monday she lets me know that the outfit should come on time - as a backup plan, I said I'd be happy to take the floor model from her store and have some alterations done as it was a little big for him. Earlier this week she called to let me know the outfit came in, so we went to pick it up today and to my dismay, it was not the right outfit. It was the same outfit in solid cream with no blue trim - we discussed how much I liked the blue trim at length, and she even texted me a picture of the outfit with the blue to confirm that was the correct one (screen shot of text below). When she brought out the solid cream outfit my mom and I both said that's not the one we ordered. She got extremely defensive and argumentative, blaming me!! Saying that was the outfit I ordered and basically it's not her problem. I understand mistakes happen and I would have respected her if she admitted something got lost in translation - instead she continued to blame me and tell me it's not her fault I didn't look at the wording on the invoice. Which by the way, said "ivory". The outfit is ivory but with blue trim. She claimed that she sent the picture of the outfit via text to show me the one from the store that I've already seen - that's a lie; she sent it with the invoice to confirm that was the right one. And Apparently I'm supposed to know that she baited and switched my order and also know how the manufacturer words their colors on invoices. It's obvious to me that she just wanted to charge me $400 for an outfit that's sold for $200 online. She continued to say that i was being disrespectful when all she was doing was LYING about what I really ordered. I could tell she knew she made a mistake the minute we walked in the door. We ended up taking the floor model which will require significant alterations on my dime. She didn't offer up any kind of a discount for taking the outfit that's been hanging in her store for so long, but she slammed $20 on the counter as a refund for the shipping for the WRONG OUTFIT (fun fact, the shipping was $27 hut what's $7 at this point?). This place is an absolute joke and Ivette is a complete liar and scammer and overpriced. 10/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND this place.

They have a great selection of unique toys and gifts, and they are bursting at the seams with second-hand clothing and shoes. The owner, Maya, was there and it was so great chatting with her and learning more about the shop. I ended up getting a toddler gardening set and tea set, plus some wind-up furry chicks and bunnies. What bothered me was believing I was supporting a unique local boutique, only to discover what appears to be a mass-produced item readily available online. Maybe some items here are made by local artists. I hope they are. Too bad the owner wasn't there when I stopped in, because this is feedback I would have preferred to give directly. Whether the response to this review is that the ring isn't from Temu, that retail markups are normal, or that other products in the store are locally made, the underlying concern remains the same: customers who choose to shop local deserve transparency about what they're actually supporting.
