The place can not be considered a 'spa' by any means but the therapist more than made up for the facility. While it was clean yet unadorned, the location was convenient and they made good use of available space. The attendant spoke little to no English and used her phone as a translation device and even that was a bit bumpy. "Midi o Straw" was what I heard and quickly realized she was asking if I wanted a Medium or Strong massage. I never figured a massage was to tickle so I said "Straw". I am used to Swedish and Deep Tissue massages and this, while different did not dissapoint. I will not go into details but suffice to say that this therapist took her work seriously as she beat out the knots in my back, arms and legs. The 'Asian' approach to massage was different but appreciated. I normally enjoy a little commentary or conversation during a session but here we had mostly silence although I could make out "straw"..."straw" while she was working on some impressive knots in my upper back. I guess she figured I would pass out from the pain but I saw it through to the end, looking forward to the relief when the pain ended. Would I go back? Certainly. Was the price fair? Yes, she worked her ass off. A substantial tip was gladly handed over at the end. Looking forward to next visit.

Body By Design offers many modalities of massage, including Swedish (for relaxation), deep tissue (for muscle knots), trigger point (for tightly contracted muscle fibers and pain), lymphatic (for reducing swelling and edema and supporting the immune system), sports (for athletes), prenatal (for pregnant women), reflexology (no medical diagnoses but a good foot massage), bamboo (for ironing out muscle knots), hot stone (heat for stretching muscles), lomi lomi (which is Hawaiian and is relaxing just like Swedish but uses longer, faster strokes), shiatsu (acupressure and some stretching to restore energy flow and relieve tight muscles), Thai (lots of stretching and compression), etcetera. If you schedule a 1.5-hour or 2-hour massage, then you will have more time to combine multiple modalities into one massage. The business also offers reiki (a gentle touching or hovering of hands for emotional and physical wellbeing), DermoNeuroModulation (which stretches the skin, stimulates nerves, and improves movement), and Ortho-Bionomy (which gently realigns muscles, bones, and fascia to improve posture, heal physical injuries, and relieve stress). I went in (in person) on the day of my massage and filled out paperwork to cancel my membership after getting the run around that this could only be done in person. So, thinking everything was great (and canceled), I used up my last massage credits and went about life. After returning from vacation, I realized I had been charged at the end of June even though my membership should have been canceled. It took SEVERAL phone calls to actually get ahold of the manager. She was very apologetic and immediately sent me the SAME paperwork that I filled out in person via email. She also promised to reimburse me for my June charge. Okay, so I complete the online paperwork and email it back immediately. Again, I move on with my life...JUST noticed I was not only NOT reimbursed from June, but they were so kind to charge me again for July. Just called again and of course the manager wasn't available.
